Until Now I Never Needed You (Larry W. Jones 04/24/2007) (song#4601)
Darlin’, until now I never needed you
But I’m in need of you forever now
I cannot remember if I ever
Said that I would never feel so blue
Darlin’, until now I never needed love
But I’m in need of love forever now
I cannot remember feeling so alone
Now that I’ve grown to loving only you
Every night and day that goes by
You might find me having a cry
My heart kind of feels like it may die
Darlin’, until now I never needed you
I can’t ease this ache within my heart
But I know that you could somehow
Darlin’, until now I never needed you
But I’m in need of you forever now
– instrumental –
Until now I never needed love
But I’m in need of love forever now
Every night and day that goes by
You might find me having a cry
My heart kind of feels like it may die
Darlin’, until now I never needed you
I can’t ease this ache within my heart
But I know that you could somehow
Darlin’, until now I never needed you
But I’m in need of you forever now
I Never Knew Her Name (Larry W. Jones 04/24/2007) (song#4602)
I saw a girl, sweet and shy
As she went strolling by
And I know I’ll love that girl
Until the day that I die
I don’t know from where she came
And that has become for me a shame
I confess that I can’t even guess
Who she was because I never knew her name
I saw something country in her smile
And I heard the music of a mandolin
That girl stole my heart with her style
But I knew I’d never see her again
I saw a girl, sweet and shy
As she went strolling by
And I know I’ll love that girl
Until the day that I die
– instrumental –
I don’t know from where she came
And that has become for me a shame
I confess that I can’t even guess
Who she was because I never knew her name
I saw something country in her smile
And I heard the music of a mandolin
That girl stole my heart with her style
But I knew I’d never see her again
I saw a girl, sweet and shy
As she went strolling by
And I know I’ll love that girl
Until the day that I die
What a shame because I never knew her name
I Overlooked A Diamond (Larry W. Jones 04/24/2007) (song#4603)
A diamond is a jewel
That shines so brilliantly
To grace the finger of a lady’s hand
When posed beside a mound of gold
The gold is not as rare
Such is life and love that can’t be planned
I overlooked a diamond
While hunting a heart of gold
The diamond that I overlooked was you
The gold that I was hunting for
Was gold that was meant for fools
The diamond I never found, my dear, was you
Now, fools gold has the color
But a diamond has the flame
And heartaches cannot bring me cheer
I missed a brilliant diamond
It was fools gold that I claimed
And now I see my life through lonely years
I overlooked a diamond
While hunting a heart of gold
The diamond that I overlooked was you
The gold that I was hunting for
Was gold that was meant for fools
The diamond I never found, my dear, was you
I Assure You (Larry W. Jones 04/24/2007) (song#4604)
I assure you with heart that’s true
Dear, I will always love only you
And that I’ll stand by your side too
I assure you
And if the cupboards ever become bare
I’ll assure you that my love is there
My love will endure with tender care
I assure you
Every morning when you awaken
A brand new day will begin
I’ll assure you of vows I’ve taken
In every little way I can
Dear, I can’t assure you of eternal spring
But I’ll try to make you heart sing eternally
I’ll bring you love that’s fit for a queen
I assure you
– instrumental –
Every morning when you awaken
A brand new day will begin
I’ll assure you of vows I’ve taken
In every little way that I can
Dear, I can’t assure you of eternal spring
But I’ll try to make you heart sing eternally
I’ll bring you love that’s fit for a queen
I assure you
I assure you, my dear
I Don’t Really Need To Know (Larry W. Jones 04/25/2007) (song#4605)
I know other arms have held you
Dear, I felt that I needed to know
But now that I know you’ll be true
Darlin’, I don’t really need to know
I know other loves have kissed you
On lips sweet like red wines flow
I felt, dear, they might still tempt you
But darlin’, I don’t really need to know
– instrumental –
Dear, I guess I’ll always wonder
It’s something I hope you’ll understand
But I’ll throw those needs asunder
If you’ll say you need me to be your man
The others may remain mysterious
But I won’t plead to let them show
Oh yes, I wonder, but I’m serious
Darlin’, I don’t really need to know
Cowboy Bill’s Last Ride (Larry W. Jones 04/25/2007) (song#4606)
Cow-boy Bill-y
Riding that Goodnight-Loving Trail, snowstorm in the night
Cowboy Bill, who was a vagabond, was fearing his demise
Snow a-blowin’ in his eyes, no relief would there unfold
He pulled his hat down on his head to fend away the cold
Cow-boy Bill-y
No cabin where there might be a friend, only his bedroll
Bill unsaddled his poor old pony and then he let it go
Like a whistle the wind was blowin’ as he drifted away
The vagabond looked satisfied, he smiled where he lay
Cow-boy Bill-y
That night the snow was falling along with sleet and hail
The forlorn form of Cowboy Bill lay still beside the trail
His pony sped through the night to a barn with horses tied
And no one knew that Cowboy Bill had taken his last ride
Cow-boy Bill-y
It was late next evening when they found the cowboy’s bed
He had a frozen smile upon his face but Cowboy Bill was dead
There was no sweetheart there to keep him warm from the cold
For Cowboy Bill was just a vagabond and now his story’s told
Some Cowgirl Loves Me (Larry W. Jones 04/25/2007) (song#4607)
Some cowgirl loves me, I just wish I knew
I wonder who that cowgirl can be
Some cowgirl loves me, I know she’ll be true
Now, where is that cowgirl for me
Every time a cowgirl goes strolling by
I ask the trees, the bees and the starling
Could she maybe be my cowgirl darling
– instrumental –
Some cowgirl wants me, I just wish I knew
I wonder who that cowgirl can be
Some cowgirl wants me, I know she’ll be true
Now, where is that cowgirl for me
Every time a cowgirl goes strolling by
I ask the trees, the bees and the starling
Could she maybe be my cowgirl darling
Some cowgirl loves me, I just wish I knew
Darling, could that cowgirl be you
I’m Gonna Be A Real Cowboy (Larry W. Jones 04/25/2007) (song#4608)
Someday I’ll be a real cowboy, a working ranch hand
If I could be a real cowboy, I’d have my own brand
I live in this city where the livin’ ain’t fair
Ain’t nobody givin’ and nobody cares
I went to a dude ranch to breath some fresh air
It was a crude bunch and the dudes had long hair
I wanna be a real cowboy, a working ranch hand
If I could be a real cowboy, I’d have my own brand
– instrumental –
I’m gonna pack my saddle, I’m gonna ride free
This cowboy’s gonna ski-daddle, don’t look for me
I live in this city where the livin’ ain’t fair
Ain’t nobody givin’ and nobody cares
I put in my resignation, and I sold all my stock
Ain’t gonna be no hesitation, ain’t watchin’ no clock
I’m gonna be a real cowboy, a working ranch hand
I’m gonna be a real cowboy, I’ll have my own brand
I’m gonna be a real cowboy, a working ranch hand
I’m gonna be a real cowboy, I’ll have my own brand
I Remember Texas (Larry W. Jones 04/25/2007) (song#4609)
I remember Texas
I’d go there in a wink
Or at least I think
I remember Texas
I remember Amarillo
And a big ‘ol rodeo
The barrel racers sprint
And I’d have to squint
In the Texas sun’s glow
I remember winter sleet
Cov’ring every Dallas street
So cold I’d shiver
Shivered for a week
I remember Texas spring
Flying a kite on a string
It was such a joy
For such a little cowboy
I remember cowboys
Making lots of noise
In the honky tonks
Trucks were their toys
I remember Texas faces
At least in some cases
Some are kinda hazy
Some call me kinda crazy
I remember Texas
I’d go there in a wink
Or at least I think
I remember Texas
Down To Texas On Our Thumb (Larry W. Jones 04/25/2007) (song#4610)
I wish I was a Texan, tall as I could be
And everytime a cowgirl passed
She’d take a ride with me
She told me that she loved me
She asked where I was from
She threw her arms around me
When I said Texas here I come
Get along home, Cindy-Cindy
Get along home, Cindy-Cindy
Get along home, Cindy-Cindy
We’re ridin’ down to Texas on our thumb
I wish I had a saddle
And a horse that wasn’t slow
Down to Texas we’d ski-daddle
Down to Texas we would go
Cindy hugged and kissed me
She said she’d be my bride
Swore I was the tallest cowboy
That she had ever spied
Get along home, Cindy-Cindy
Get along home, Cindy-Cindy
Get along home, Cindy-Cindy
We’re ridin’ down to Texas on our thumb
Down Where The Brazos River Flows (Larry W. Jones 04/25/2007) (song#4611)
Blue were the days that followed me
A haze was my future, so unknown
I was more than lonely, roamin’ free
A true companion I had never known
Down in Texas nights are bright, dear
You and I will be happy there, I know
Come dear, today, and let us stray
Down where the Brazos River flows
Shadows have turned to skies of blue
I’m unconcerned as the sun goes down
Happiness followed when I met you
Life is not hollow when you’re around
– instrumental –
Down in Texas nights are bright, dear
You and I will be happy there, I know
Come dear, today, and let us stray
Down where the Brazos River flows
Sometimes I wonder if I’m dreaming
Worries of life have all drifted away
Since you’re my wife there is meaning
In the love that’s between us today
Down in Texas nights are bright, dear
You and I will be happy there, I know
Come dear, today, and let us stray
Down where the Brazos River flows
Forgotten Down That Lost Highway (Larry W. Jones 04/25/2007) (song#4612)
Hot sunny days and rainy nights
A trucking job is just cheating life
I’m over the road with a heavy load
Wondering about my lonely wife
Forgotten down that lost highway
Watching my dreams fading away
Forgotten down that lost highway
I’m never gonna see a better day
Empty dreams and empty schemes
Truckin’ life ain’t what it seems
Eighteen wheels on the straightaway
And there ain’t no way to get away
Forgotten down that lost highway
Watching my dreams fading away
Forgotten down that lost highway
I’m never gonna see a better day
So tired, I need a run that’s short
But over the road just ain’t that sort
Step on the pedal, big diesel whines
Lookin’ to see them git-home signs
Forgotten down that lost highway
Watching my dreams fading away
Forgotten down that lost highway
I’m never gonna see a better day
Forgotten down that lost highway
Forgotten down that lost highway
Ghost Train (Larry W. Jones 04/26/2007) (song#4613)
The old train was standing on the side track
Four hobos climbin’ in the boxcar at the back
I decided to take a look in the old car up front
That’s when I heard the whistle and the bump
Ghost train, ghost train we ride
Ghost train, ghost train we ride
Ghost train, ghost train we ride
Me and four hobos ridin’ to the twilight zone tonight
Ghost train went clickity clack, clickity clack and bump
As it rattled on down the tracks with a thumpity thump
Then it went through a tunnel so dark a cat couldn’t see
Hobos were screamin’, scared my ‘ol heart right out of me
Ghost train, ghost train we ride
Ghost train, ghost train we ride
Ghost train, ghost train we ride
Me and four hobos ridin’ to the twilight zone tonight
Said to myself, sonny this train ride’s the end of you
Now it ain’t so funny when a sane man goes crazy too
I can’t understand it all or just how I got back here
It must have been a dream down a train track of fear
Ghost train, ghost train we ride
Ghost train, ghost train we ride
Ghost train, ghost train we ride
Me and four hobos ridin’ to the twilight zone tonight
Penny Postcard (Larry W. Jones 04/26/20070 (song#4614)
Now, go on home, penny postcard
Go on home, penny postcard
Go on home, penny postcard
I sure wish I could go along with you
Yeah, go on home, penny postcard
Go on home, penny postcard
Go on home, penny postcard
Let her know I sure have been blue
Tell that slow movin’ postman to hurry
And tell him I don’t want her to worry
Now, you’ve just taken my last penny
The snow is fallin’ down in a flurry
And of her warm love I ain’t had any
Go on home, penny postcard
Go on home, penny postcard
Go on home, penny postcard
I sure wish I could go along with you
– instrumental –
Go on home, penny postcard

Queen Of The Western Skies (Larry W. Jones 04/26/2007) (song#4615)
I’m gonna ride back on a horse that’s black
Singin’ of cowboy life I highly prize
Cause I’m a rider bold for a cowgirl of gold
She’s the queen of the western skies
Hi-lay! Hi-low! Each day it’s down the trail I go
She sees the love in this cowboy’s eyes
My heart is light when she’s in sight
She’s the queen of the western skies
My happy song makes the hours roll along
Until I see that pretty little gal
With the ruby lips and the shapely hips
She’ll be waiting by the old corral
– instrumental –

More And More Every Year (Larry W. Jones 04/30/2007) (song#4616)
I love you dear, more and more every year
Some said our love was just a feeling
That with time would quickly disappear
But love is deeper and more appealing
I love you dear, more and more every year
Our wedding day was filled with sacred vows
Dear, my happiness then is the same as now
Darling, please believe these words sincere
I love you dear, more and more every year
– instrumental –
Our wedding day was filled with sacred vows

I love you dear, more and more every year

I Love You Just Enough (Larry W. Jones 04/30/2007) (song#4617)
Dear, I love you just enough
And I knew it from the start
To love you much too much
Deep down here in my heart
Dear, I love you just enough
There’s rhyme to my reason
I love to feel your loving touch
Every year in every season
Dear, I could never love you slightly
For I love you just enough
To hold onto your love so very tightly
Yes, I love you much too much
Dear, I love you just enough
I wonder if you’ve ever known
That just enough is not enough
Just like a never ending song
– instrumental –
Dear, I could never love you slightly
For I love you just enough
To hold onto your love so very tightly
For I love you much too much
Dear, I love you just enough
I wonder if you’ve ever known
That just enough is not enough
Just like a never ending song
Risky Rodeo Days (Larry W. Jones 05/01/2007) (song#4618)
We cowboys have our ways
Of facing risky rodeo days
And learning how to survive
We keep our back sides warm
On a bronco they call Storm
Hoping that we stay alive
And though it seldom pays
We cowboys have our ways
Of facing risky rodeo days
I survived many broncs named Storm
Though my back side was never protected
I survived many broncs named Storm
And there have been quite a few
I survived many broncs named Storm
Now my cowboy hide is well respected
By other rodeo cowboys who
Got thrown just like me too
And they made it through risky rodeo days
Friends are never hard to find
Rodeo cowboys are of that kind
I’ve made many in the cowboy trade
Our life is one that makes us proud
We only aim to please the crowd
When we’re riding in a rodeo parade
We cowboys have our ways
Of facing risky rodeo days
And learning how to survive
We keep our back sides warm
On a bronco they call Storm
Hoping that we stay alive
And though it seldom pays
We cowboys have our ways
Of facing risky rodeo days
An All Around Cowboy (Larry W. Jones 05/01/2007) (song#4619)
What can an all around cowboy do
When he’s riding all around and feeling blue
As he crossed Texas riding with the wind
He made and lost many who called him friend
His all around cowboy belt buckle said it all
Except for how he had to buckle at his fall
Now cheap whiskey and barrooms keep him down
And there’s no room when better cowboys are all around
I used to be an all around cowboy, a winner
Now I might as well be an old mule skinner
Somehow I knew it was a short endeavor
An all around cowboy can’t last forever
– instrumental –
My all around cowboy belt buckle said it all

Cowboy Code (Larry W. Jones 05/01/2007) (song#4620)
I extend the cowboy code to those with a heavy load
Whether in Texas sunshine or Wyoming rain
I sing my cowboy song to inspire the tired along
For I may never ride this trail again
I share my hope for every worried heart to cope
As I ride every mountain, valley and plain
I extend the cowboy code, I sing my cowboy song
I share my hope, because I understand
Now is the time to pledge and not to hedge
For I may never ride this trail again
– instrumental –
I sing my cowboy song to inspire the tired along

I share my hope for every worried heart to cope
As I ride every mountain, valley and plain

Summer Fields Of Purple Sage (Larry W. Jones 05/02/2007) (song#4621)
I remember the summer fields
Of purple sage softly sighing
And the corral beneath the cottonwood trees
I remember my old saddle pals
Roundup days with hooves a-flying
And the old bunk house room without a key
The autumn harvest moon
Shining softly on the prairie
I still picture me there
Big barn dances so merry
Friends were everywhere
I remember my first summer love
And the last time I held her on the prairie stage
In the summer fields of purple sage
– instrumental –
The autumn harvest moon
Shining softly on the prairie
I still picture me there
Big barn dances so merry
Friends were everywhere
I remember my first summer love
And the last time I held her on the prairie stage
In the summer fields of purple sage
Those summer fields of prairie purple sage
I Will Always Call Texas My Home (Larry W. Jones 05/02/2007) (song#4622)
I’ve seen towns that seem to never close down
From New York City to places dirty and pretty
But of all the places that I’ve roamed
I will always call Texas my home
I like to ramble where the weather suits me
I’ve seen Georgia’s tall pine trees
I’ve seen California’s shining seas
But my heart can only agree when I roam
I will always call Texas my home
There’s men and women going round the world
Far away from all their neighbors and friends
This old world is in a mess and loving less
So it’s good to know where my trails will end
– instrumental –
I like to ramble where the weather suits me
I’ve seen Georgia’s tall pine trees
I’ve seen California’s shining seas
But my heart can only agree when I roam
I will always call Texas my home
Someday I’ll be with old cowboys once more
When I get to that place I’ve been to before
I realize how I prize old San Antone
I will always call Texas my home
I will always call Texas my home
Thanks A Lot Texas Moon (Larry W. Jones 05/02/2007) (song#4623)
No use to try on some disguise, Texas moon
You shine on everything
You can’t hide up in the skies, Texas moon
I can see your halo ring
From your abode in the heavens above
You’ve bestowed upon us all your love
In the night you shine so bright
I think you’ve got it right
Thanks a lot, Texas moon
You light up hearts and they take to flight
Right up to where love starts in the night
Thanks a lot, Texas moon
You’re the one who gets our Texas blessing
Nothing can eclipse two lips a-pressing
I’m gonna give it my best shot
Tonight we’re gonna tie the knot
Thanks a lot, Texas moon
– instrumental –
In the night you shine so bright
I think you’ve got it right
Thanks a lot, Texas moon

Right up to where love starts in the night

I Remembered You (Larry W. Jones 05/03/2007) (song#4624)
I heard someone say, or somehow convey
That someone out of sight is someone out of mind
Now, that may be the case, but in my place
I can’t leave you behind because I find…
I took a trip on a sailing ship
And I remembered you
I heard the lonesome sound
Of an outward bound
And I remembered you
Big rodeo where cowboys and cowgirls go
Blue Bell ice cream
Old San Antone, someone’s cologne
Through all it seemed we were still a team
– instrumental –
In every place I’ve been
Oh, I remembered you
And darlin’, I remember when
I didn’t feel this blue
I looked down the railroad track
Hoping to see you coming back
But you were out of view
And I remembered you
I Hesitated Too Long (Larry W. Jones 05/03/2007) (song#4625)
Darlin’, I wanted you to be mine alone
But I hesitated, I hesitated too long
While I was working on my long range plan
Someone else quickly came along
And quietly stole your heart and your hand
I thought I was going on the right track
Now that you’re gone, I know I was wrong
Cause someone was going behind my back
I hesitated, yes I hesitated too long
– instrumental –
Darling, I wanted you to be mine alone
But I hesitated, I hesitated too long
While I was working on my long range plan
Someone else quickly came along
And quietly stole your heart and your hand
I thought I was going on the right track
Now that you’re gone, I know I was wrong
Cause someone was going behind my back
I hesitated, yes I hesitated too long
Well darlin’, I hesitated too long
Dog gone it, darlin’, I hesitated too long
And now you’re gone
I Wanna Go Back To Texas (Larry W. Jones 05/03/2007) (song#4626)
I wanna go back to Texas
That Lone Star State of sunny skies
You can see those scenes on the silver screens
But I wanna see Texas with my eyes
It’s got all that cowboy lore
That’s why I love Texas all the more
And the cowgirls you meet at the rodeo
Look so sweet you gotta say Howdy Ho
I could never want for more
That’s what I wanna go back to Texas for
– instrumental –
You can see those scenes on the silver screens
But I wanna see Texas with my eyes
And the cowgirls you meet at the rodeo
Look so sweet you gotta say Howdy Ho
I could never want for more
That’s what I wanna go back to Texas for
Oh, I wanna go back to Texas
I wanna go to a big ‘ol Texas rodeo
Drink Lone Star long necks and eat some good Tex Mex
From the Red River Valley to El Paso
Back to Texas is where I wanna go
On A Tropical Island (Larry W. Jones 05/03/2007) (song#4627)
On a tropical island
In an ocean of blue
Darling, I found a paradise
For I’m in heaven with you
There was a time when I was lonely
So lonely and blue
Now I’ve found my one and only
For my only darling is you
We’ll love on this island, dear
Until time is no more
Paradise will always be near
With you on this heavenly shore
– instrumental –
On a tropical island
In an ocean of blue
Darling, I looked in your eyes
And my heaven came into view
There was a time when I was lonely
So lonely and blue
Now I’ve found my one and only
For my only darling is you
We’ll love on this island, dear
Until time is no more
Paradise will always be near
With you on this heavenly shore
Big Sky Montana (Larry W. Jones 05/03/2007) (song#4628)
Take me back to Big Sky Montana
Back to mountains and hills I love
Where the big skies are royal blue
And where true friends are loyal too
Take me back to Big Sky Montana
I said goodbye to Big Sky Montana
I said goodbye to my home sweet home
Where blue birds flew and worries few
Take me back to Big Sky Montana
Where the fields all wave with purple sage
And the mountains touch the biggest sky
Where love and friendship grow with age
And you realize you never say goodbye
Take me back to Big Sky Montana
It’s not Louisiana or Indiana I love
It’s as blessed as heavenly manna
Take me back to Big Sky Montana
– instrumental –
Where the fields all wave with purple sage
And the mountains touch the biggest sky
Where love and friendship grow with age
And you realize you never say goodbye
Take me back to Big Sky Montana
Back to mountains and hills I love
Where the big skies are royal blue
And where true friends are loyal too
Take me back to Big Sky Montana
Lighthouse Keeper (Larry W. Jones 05/03/2007) (song#4629)
I’m gonna be a lighthouse keeper
With a wife to keep me company
I’m gonna be a lighthouse keeper
With a spouse down by the sea
We’ll polish the glass each and every day
So ships at night can pass safely on their way
I’m gonna be a lighthouse keeper
Down by Matagorda Bay
We’ll stroll the sand along Palacious way
Do a lot of beachcombing too
We’ll watch the Gulf of Mexico foaming gay
When a hurricane is blowing through
I’m gonna be a lighthouse keeper
My face is gonna feel the spray
I’m gonna be a lighthouse keeper
Down by Matagorda Bay
– instrumental –
We’ll polish the glass each and every day
So ships at night can pass safely on their way
We’ll stroll the sand along Palacious way
Do a lot of beachcombing too
We’ll watch the Gulf of Mexico foaming gay
When a hurricane is blowing through
I’m gonna be a lighthouse keeper
My face is gonna feel the spray
I’m gonna be a lighthouse keeper
Down by Matagorda Bay
I Want You Back In My Arms Again (Larry W. Jones 05/03/2007) (song#4630)
Darling, I want to say to you, hello
So I can see your sweet smile
And I want you back in my arms again
Darling, my world is way too mellow
Life is not like it was before
I can’t go on without you anymore
Now, how can I be satisfied
Darling, if you’re not here by my side
All I’ve had is pride but let’s begin again
– instrumental –
Darling, my world is way too mellow
Life is not like it was before
I can’t go on without you anymore
Now, how can I be satisfied
Darling, if you’re not here by my side
All I’ve had is pride but let’s begin again
Darling, I want to say to you, hello
So I can see your sweet smile
And I want you back in my arms again
Darling, I want you back in my arms again
An Ordinary Cowboy (Larry W. Jones 05/03/2007) (song#4631)
I’m an ordinary cowboy
Trying to ride down life’s happy trails
I’ve extended the cowboy code everywhere I rode
Doing unto others without fail
When I find some lonely person
I try to help that one not to worsen
I never hold back the smallest horseshoe nail
I’m an ordinary cowboy
Trying to ride down life’s happy trails
One thing that keeps me from feeling blue
Is to heap a lot of happiness on others too
Some say life ain’t worth living
But why on earth would I be giving my point of view
I’m an ordinary cowboy
I’d like to ride down life’s happy trails with you
– instrumental –
I’m an ordinary cowboy
Trying to ride down life’s happy trails
One thing that keeps me from feeling blue
Is to heap a lot of happiness on others too
Some say life ain’t worth living
But why on earth would I be giving my point of view
I’m an ordinary cowboy
I’d like to ride down life’s happy trails with you
I Need You To Need Me Always (Larry W. Jones 05/04/2007) (song#4632)
Oh, it’s true, I’m never blue
Darling, when I’m with you
No one else pleases me like you do
You set my heart ablaze
But when you’re not here, I’m lonely, dear
I plead that you always bring me cheer
I need you to need me always
You make me happy, love
When you take my hand under stars above
Whether at noon or under the moon
I need to see you in my gaze
When I look in your eyes under bluest skies
I read the love with no disguise
Darling, I need that love from you always
– instrumental –
Darling, don’t ever change
Now that I’ve changed your name
For life would seem so strange
If you were to leave and my heart pays
Your love for me is good, to die for you I would
Darling, I don’t want to be misunderstood
I need you to need me always
You make me happy, love
When you take my hand under stars above
Whether at noon or under the moon
I need to see you in my gaze
When I look in your eyes under bluest skies
I read the love with no disguise
Darling, I need that love from you always
I need you to need me always
I Know (Larry W. Jones 05/09/2007) (song#4633)
I know who paints sunsets firey red
Who makes western skies so very blue
And before I lay my head upon my bed
Brings the brilliant stars into view
I know who gives fragrance to the rose
Watches as the grass grows in the spring
And who tells the bluebird and the robin
To go bobbin’ along with songs to sing
I know that every old cowboy knows
The cowboy code without words to say
Why every young cowboy eventually goes
Down his own trail as he rides away
– instrumental –
I know who gives fragrance to the rose
Watches as the grass grows in the spring
And who tells the bluebird and the robin
To go bobbin’ along with songs to sing
I know that every old cowboy knows
The cowboy code without words to say
Why every young cowboy eventually goes
Down his own trail as he rides away
I know why clouds have a silver line
After the rain and loud thunder
The reason why is just simply divine
Yes, I know, but still, I wonder
Little Buckeroos Again (Larry W. Jones 05/09/2007) (song#4634)
All of my sons are now grown cowboys
They’re gone and no longer bounce upon my knee
Each of my boys brought me many joys
And I can still hear their noise in my memory
Their first swim was a little dog paddle
And I’d tuck them in for a little snooze back then
Now they’re tall cowboys in the saddle
I wish that they were all little buckeroos again
– instrumental –
One day I asked an old cowhand
What he would wish for from long ago
He just said to me, I understand
My buckeroos, I too watched them go
All of my sons are now grown cowboys
They’re gone and no longer bounce upon my knee
Each of my boys brought me many joys
And I can still hear their noise in my memory
Their first swim was a little dog paddle
And I’d tuck them in for a little snooze back then
Now they’re tall cowboys in the saddle
I wish that they were all little buckeroos again
My Name Is Jimmy (Larry W. Jones 05/09/2007) (song#4635)
My name is Jimmy and my cowgirl’s Kate
At the barn dances Kate is really great
I found out about her a thing or two
The dance she does is all brand new
When I swing with Kate, it’s all romance
She does a little shimmy in her dance
Now, all the other cowboys are going wild
It’s all about Kate’s little shimmy style
My name is Jimmy and my cowgirl’s Kate
She shimmies like jello on a roller skate
If you wanna dance, take Jimmy’s advice
Get your girl to shimmy like Kate, so nice
Now all the cowboys in the old corral
Say, Jimmy let me be your best old pal
But I know they just wanna get my gal
Well, they’re too late for cowgirl Kate
My name is Jimmy and my cowgirl’s Kate
When it comes to dancing, I just can’t wait
She’s got a little shimmy that sure is great
I love to shimmy shimmy with my cowgirl Kate
My name is Jimmy and I love to shimmy
I love to shimmy shimmy with my cowgirl Kate
I Only Know I Love You So (Larry W. Jones 05/09/2007) (song#4636)
Darling, I only know I love you so
Though I know you disappeared so long ago
I also know one thing I miss
Your kisses I still feel at a time like this
I should be grinning from ear to ear
I should have a new beginning and a brand new friend
But I can’t seem to dry these tears
My heart is beginning to think that it will never mend
Sometimes I try really, really hard
To forget you but my heart says No
It still beats though it’s scarred
Darling, I only know I love you so
– instrumental –
I should be grinning from ear to ear
I should have a new beginning and a brand new friend
But I can’t seem to dry these tears
My heart is beginning to think that it will never mend
Sometimes I try really, really hard
To forget you but my heart says No
It still beats though it’s scarred
Darling, I only know I love you so
I only know I love you so
Are You The Girl (Larry W. Jones 05/09/2007) (song#4637)
Are you the girl I’ve waited so very long for
Are you the girl to cause true love to grow
Are you the girl I’ve sung this very song for
If I cannot tell, then tell me darling
How am I to know
How am I to know if you will love me
And how am I to know the future of me
By chance, are you the girl of sweet romance
If I cannot tell, then tell me darling
How am I to know
– instrumental –
Are you the girl I’ve waited so very long for
Are you the girl I’ve sung this very song for
How am I to know if you will love me
And how am I to know the future of me
By chance, are you the girl of sweet romance
If I cannot tell, then tell me darling
How am I to know
I hope you’re the girl my hopes depend on
That you’re the girl my dreams will end on
If you’re the girl, then darling, let me know
So I can tell the world how much I love you so
Remember Me When You Turn Out Your Light (Larry W. Jones 05/10/2007) (song#4638)
Been riding the trail with cattle by the score
It sure feels like a thousand miles, maybe more
I’ll offer up a prayer for you and me tonight
Darling, remember me when you turn out your light
I wear your golden locket next to my heart
I guess it will have to do while we’re apart
Though it can never take your place alright
Darling, remember me when you turn out your light
– instrumental –
Been riding the trail with cattle by the score
It sure feels like a thousand miles, maybe more
I wear your golden locket next to my heart
I guess it will have to do while we’re apart
Though it can never take your place alright
Darling, remember me when you turn out your light
The sky is clear and all the stars sure shine
I wish you were near because you’re so divine
I’ve told all the other cowboys about you tonight
Darling, remember me when you turn out your light
Darling, remember me when you turn out your light
Riding The Rails Of The Outward Bound (Larry W. Jones 05/10/2007) (song#4639)
Looking out this open boxcar door
At the cold heavy falling snows
Around the midnight train it blows
And on the tattered plywood floor
Thinking of the crackle of a hobo’s fire
Is just another thing to get me down
Wondering why I’m on this midnight flyer
Riding the rails of the outward bound
Another blue monday, another new town
There’s not a lot for lonely hobos to do
I’ve seen faces staring at the ground
But the only one I’m caring about is you
I read all of last week’s funny papers
One had teardrops falling off a clown
Funny how folks laugh at hobo’s capers
Riding the rails of the outward bound
– instrumental –
Another blue monday, another new town
There’s not a lot for lonely hobos to do
I’ve seen faces staring at the ground
But the only one I’m caring about is you
I listen for footsteps of the railroad bull
Hoping I don’t see him at my boxcar door
And if this coat had a little bit more wool
Maybe I could feel as warm as I was before
And the winter this year is sure to last
I’m headin’ south where the sun is found
On down the tracks far away from my past
Riding the rails of the outward bound
I Wished Upon A Star (Larry W. Jones 05/10/2007) (song#4640)
I wished upon a star
To have someone around
Wished upon a star
For no love had I found
A daffodil, a wooded hill, a day in May
A new found thrill who wouldn’t stroll away
I wished upon a star
To shine for me a beam of light
Wished upon a star
To find for me a dream tonight
– instrumental –
A daffodil, a wooded hill, a day in May
A new found thrill who wouldn’t stroll away
I wished upon a star
To shine for me a beam of light
Wished upon a star
To find for me a dream tonight
I turned around and then I knew
A star can make a dream come true
I wished upon a star, and here you are
My new found dream is you
Oh San Antone (Larry W. Jones 05/11/2007) (song#4641)
When the sun came up this mornin’ in San Antone
I drove into town and found my darlin’ baby gone
I used to look into her eyes and I could see
Every bit of San Antone looking back at me
Oh San Antone, now how can I carry on
Oh San Antone, my darlin’ baby’s gone
I thought that the Texas Hill Country
Would remember to never let her go
Now that she’s gone from San Antone
I’ll remember more than the Alamo
– instrumental –
I used to look into her eyes and I could see
Every bit of San Antone looking back at me
I thought that the Texas Hill Country
Would remember to never let her go
Now that she’s gone from San Antone
I’ll remember more than the Alamo
Oh San Antone, why did you let her go
Don’t you know that she was my only one
Oh San Antone, you know I love her so
Oh San Antone, my darlin’ baby’s gone
Oh San Antone, my darlin’ baby’s gone
Where Is My Texas Darlin’ Tonight (Larry W. Jones 05/11/2007) (song#4642)
I shredded her every letter
Dreaded looking at her sweater
My cooking’s bad, hers was better
Her photograph makes me blue
I gave away her old present
Said things that weren’t pleasant
I feel just like a peasant
My darlin’s nowhere in view
Where is my Texas darlin’ tonight
Is my Texas darlin’ doing alright
Did she go back home to San Antone
Where is my Texas darlin’ tonight
My darlin’ didn’t treat me fair
And I know that I shouldn’t care
Still I can’t help but wonder where
Where is my Texas darlin’ tonight
My darlin’ does the Texas two step, Texas two step
Where is my darlin’ doing the Texas two step, Texas two step
While I’m sittin’ here and crying, there’s no use in denying
I wish Texas had never invented the two step, Texas two step
Where is my Texas darlin’ tonight
Is my Texas darlin’ doing alright
Did she go back home to San Antone
Where is my Texas darlin’ tonight
Juan From Mexicali (Larry W. Jones 05/11/2007) (song#4643)
I wonder what’s become of Jaun from Mexicali
That old saddle pal of mine
The desert sun gets hot down in Death Valley
I hope ‘ol Juan is doing fine
Juan from Mexicali is my best friend
He saved my life in the big stampede
Juan came to me riding like the wind
And he lives by the cowboy’s creed
If you see Juan from Mexicali
Wherever he may be
Tell him he’s welcome in this valley
A true saddle pal is he
– instrumental –
I wonder what’s become of Jaun from Mexicali
The desert sun gets hot down in Death Valley
Juan from Mexicali is my best friend
He saved my life in the big stampede
Juan came to me riding like the wind
And he lives by the cowboy’s creed
If you see Juan from Mexicali
Wherever he may be
Tell him he’s welcome in this valley
A true saddle pal is he
I Wonder What Trail He’s Riding Down Now (Larry W. Jones 05/11/2007) (song#4644)
Girls have loved cowboys from the big rodeo
I know I’m one of those cowgirls too
I vowed to each my love, then watched them go
Why can’t those rodeo cowboys be true
I kissed one cowboy beneath the moon
This cowgirl thought her world was in tune
Thinking I was cool, I was a fool in the game
I was just a toy for that rodeo cowboy
Now he’s ridin’ down the trail doin’ the same
I wonder what trail he’s riding down now
And what vow is he breaking anyhow
Does he still have on his disguise
Telling lies
Saying goodbyes
I wonder if he’s found another girl
That cowboy who gave my heart a whirl
I wonder if he ever thinks of me
I wonder what trail he’s riding down now
A girl can feel dejected, lonely and blue
Thinking of the only cowboy she loves best
In the arms of another miss, rustling a kiss
With the same lips this cowgirl once pressed
The rodeo was yesterday but another’s on the way
I’ll go and find some other cowboys to cheer
You never can tell what trail they’ll be ridin’ down
Or whether they’ll even be around next year
I wonder what trail he’s riding down now
And what vow is he breaking anyhow
Does he still have on his disguise
Telling lies
Saying goodbyes
I wonder if her lips taste like wine
Like he told me when he tasted mine
I wonder if he ever thinks of me
I wonder what trail he’s riding down now
I’m Gonna Break Right Down And Cry Over You (Larry W. Jones 05/12/2007) (song#4645)
I’m gonna break right down and cry over you
Now that you’ve left town and we’re through
I’m gonna shed a million tears
Through the years while we’re apart
Even though I know a million tears
Will never mend my broken heart
I’m gonna break right down and cry over you
Might even have a heartache and die over you
I’m gonna have a million memories
Of you walking out of my front door
Though I know a million memories
Won’t bring your love back as before
Yeah, that’s what I’m gonna do
Now that you and I are through
I’m gonna break right down, it’s true
Break right down and cry over you
– instrumental –
I’m gonna break right down and cry over you
Might even have a heartache and die over you
I’m gonna have a million memories
Of you walking out of my front door
Though I know a million memories
Won’t bring your love back as before
Yeah, that’s what I’m gonna do
Now that you and I are through
I’m gonna break right down, it’s true
Break right down and cry over you
Piney Woods Girls (Larry W. Jones 05/12/2007) (song#4646)
Well, it’s springtime down in the piney woods
And I’ve downed my share of good homemade brew
Been tryin’ to read the Sears Roebuck catalog
But none of the words look like they used to
Here comes Billy Bob with his freckled face
Wants me to go with ‘im to the dirt track race
I won’t go racing with you, Billy Bob
But I’ll go chasing piney woods girls
Get back in your pickup, hillbilly slob
You can go to the races with ‘ol Merle
The big piney woods moon is shining
And I think I’ll go give it a whirl
My ‘ol heart might keep on pining
But I’ll go chasing piney woods girls
I’ll go down to the back woods holler
Knock on the door of a piney woods home
Get me a gal to go spend my dollar
Piney woods girls won’t leave me alone
We’ll walk down where the dew berries grow
Then I’ll ask her for some kisses
And before too long she’ll love me, I know
Then I’ll ask her to be my Misses
I won’t go racing with you, Billy Bob
But I’ll go chasing piney woods girls
Get back in your pickup, hillbilly slob
You can go to the races with ‘ol Merle
The big piney woods moon is shining
And I think I’ll go give it a whirl
My ‘ol heart might keep on pining
But I’ll go chasing piney woods girls
I’ll go chasing piney woods girls
I’d Ride The Trail Back Home To You (Larry W. Jones 05/16/2007) (song#4647)
Darling, I could never leave you
For that would not be a faithful thing to do
How could I ever leave
My heart would ever grieve
And I’d ride the trail back home to you
If I found other lips to kiss
They could never kiss as true
The look of your sweet face
I’ve seen no other in the human race
And I’d ride the trail back home to you
At times we’ve had to contend
With a difference of opinion or two
But there’s never been a fence to mend
Cause darling, I love only you
– instrumental –
If I found other lips to kiss
They could never kiss as true
The look of your sweet face
I’ve seen no other in the human race
And I’d ride the trail back home to you
The look of your sweet face
I’ve seen no other in the human race
And I’d ride the trail back home to you
If The T In Texas Stood For Treasure (Larry W. Jones 05/17/2007) (song#4648)
Darling, I can’t tell you how much I love you
But I’ll try and give it a shot
Everything is big in Texas
And my love is a Texas lot
If the T in Texas stood for Treasure
And the Gulf of Mexico was ink
I’d write you a love song with a two step measure
And send it to you in a wink
It would say, I love you, darlin’
All across the Texas sky
And with a steel guitar and a violin
It would say, You’re the apple of my eye
– instrumental –
If the T in Texas stood for Treasure
And the Gulf of Mexico was ink
I’d write you a love song that would tell the pleasure
Of every thing of you I think
It would say, I love you, darlin’
All across the Texas sky
And with a steel guitar and a violin
It would say, You’re the apple of my eye
If the T in Texas stood for Treasure
And the Gulf of Mexico was ink
If I Owned Texas (Larry W. Jones 05/17/2007) (song#4649)
If I owned Texas
No trail would be too long
To keep me from where I belong
If I owned Texas
If I owned Texas
That lone star wouldn’t be too far
I’d ride to wherever you are
If I owned Texas
Let the world remember the Alamo in San Antone
I’ll always remember a girl that I can call my own
If I owned Texas
I’d make a date and play it smart
I’d ride straight into your heart
If I owned Texas
– instrumental –
Let the world remember the Alamo in San Antone
I’ll always remember a girl that I can call my own
If I owned Texas
I’d make a date and play it smart
I’d ride straight into your heart
If I owned Texas
I’m A Hobo (Larry W. Jones 05/17/2007) (song#4650)
Well, I was asked, how come I don’t work like real men do
Now, how can I be at work and be a hobo too
Freight train’s a-comin’ and the sky is blue
I’m gonna be a hobo ’til my life is through
Where the four winds blow, I’m a hobo
Where the four winds blow, that’s where I’ve been
Where the four winds blow, I’m a hobo
On any old feight train comin’ ’round the bend
Well, I was asked, what do I do with the money I earn
Now, if I ever had money, it was money to burn
I used to have a job with a good return
But now I’m just a hobo with no concern
Where the four winds blow, I’m a hobo
Where the four winds blow, that’s where I’ve been
Where the four winds blow, I’m a hobo
On any old feight train comin’ ’round the bend
When the summer time comes, I’ll be headin’ north
When the winter time comes, I’ll be headin’ south
When it’s spring time or autumn, it’s east or west
Any place is best as long as I can stuff my mouth
Where the four winds blow, I’m a hobo
Where the four winds blow, that’s where I’ve been
Where the four winds blow, I’m a hobo
On any old feight train comin’ ’round the bend
My Heart Has A Door (Larry W. Jones 05/17/2007) (song#4651)
My heart has a door
And it’s open wide for the one I adore
A hinge might squeak, but it would only speak
Of the only one for whom I seek
My heart has a door
And it’s open wide for the one I adore
Won’t you come inside and be my darling bride
The door to my heart is open wide
My heart has a door
And it’s open wide for the one I adore
You could take away the ache
That a lonely heart can’t take
Darling, I will never ask for more
Just step inside of my heart’s door
– instrumental –
You could take away the ache
That a lonely heart can’t take
Darling, I will never ask for more
Just step inside of my heart’s door
My heart has a door
And it’s open wide for the one I adore
My heart has a door
And it’s open wide for the one I adore
If I Could Ride Down Life’s Trail Again (Larry W. Jones 05/17/2007) (song#4652)
If I could ride down life’s trail again
I wouldn’t look for a bigger cattle drive each day
I’d look for saddle pals and other friends I knew
I’d extend the cowboy code in every kind of way
If I could ride down life’s trail again
Oh, if I were given just another chance
I would give a lot more than a song and dance
I would save a lot of sunshine for the rain
If I could ride down life’s trail again
– instrumental –
If I could ride down life’s trail again
I wouldn’t do the darn things that didn’t make sence
I would help my neighbor build his barn and fence
I would give more that I got, and that’s a lot
If I could ride down life’s trail again
A lot of things I would change, more smiling
A lot of words I’d rearrange, more beguiling
This may all seem strange but I’ve been thinking
The one thing that would stay the same as new
Is my eternal love for you
If I could ride down life’s trail again
If Teardrops Were Raindrops (Larry W. Jones 05/17/2007) (song#4653)
If teardrops were raindrops
That made flowers grow
I’d have a big rose garden
With row after row
It would be so very lovely
With beauty, I know
If teardrops were raindrops
That made flowers grow
A garden full of roses
And other flowers too
Every color of the rainbow
I could offer to you
Your house would be a mansion
That rich folks love to show
If teardrops were raindrops
That made flowers grow
But teardrops that I’ve tasted
Won’t grow a single thing
And the hours that I’ve wasted
Show that love can sting
Love that once was growing
Would never stop its flow
If teardrops were raindrops
That made flowers grow
If teardrops were raindrops
That made flowers grow
I’d have a big rose garden
With row after row
But teardrops aren’t raindrops
And love’s rose garden can’t grow
Texas Susie (Larry W. Jones 05/17/2007) (song#4654)
Now, I’ve got a cowgirl who’s named Susie
In Texas, she’s a healthy heifer, not a cow
She makes the Texas cowboys a little woozy
And they can’t help it when they shout, Wow!
Texas Susie has a groovy reputation
She should be in the movies, yes siree
But everybody knows where Susie goes
Cause Texas Susie goes with only me
If you knew Texas Susie like I know Texas Susie
My, oh my, what a cowgirl
No one ever had the fame
Of a frame that looked the same
As my cowgirl Texas Susie
We went riding to San Antone
You should have heard the hoots and talk
On the way back, my very own
Susie said my boots were made to walk
If you knew Texas Susie like I know Texas Susie
My, oh my, what a cowgirl
She wears cowgirl boots and Levi jeans
And with her cowgirl hat she steals the scenes
Oh no! Call out the marines!
Out on the floor doin’ the line dance
She puts the whole corps in a fine trance
If you knew Texas Susie like I know Texas Susie
My, oh my, what a cowgirl
As Long As You Love Me (Larry W. Jones 05/18/2007) (song#4655)
If the Texas sun should fall into the sea
If the Gulf of Mexico waters all run dry
As long as you love me, really love me
Whatever happens, I don’t care
If my castle caved in and fell apart
I’d still be able to smile within my heart
As long as you love me, really love me
Whatever happens, I don’t care
Darling, I’ll lasso the moon
And I’ll bring it to you soon
If you will let me know you care
Darling, I’ll lasso the Texas star
And bring it to where you are
If true love for me you declare
– instrumental –
Darling, I’ll lasso the moon
And I’ll bring it to you soon
If you will let me know you care
Darling, I’ll lasso the Texas star
And bring it to where you are
If true love for me you declare
Until the last roundup is through
And I breath my last Texas air with you
As long as you love me, really love me
Whatever happens, I don’t care
Darling, whatever happens, I don’t care
San Antone Roll Along (Larry W. Jones 05/18/2007) (song#4656)
San Antone, roll along with my lowly song
Bring me back to Texas skies of blue
I’m the loneliest cowboy ever known
I’m ridin’ along back home to you
San Antone, roll along, roll along
– instrumental –
I’m the lonliest cowboy
And I’m feeling so blue
San Antone, let me roll on home to you
Back to Texas where the skies are blue
San Antone, roll on along, roll along
San Antone, roll along with my lowly song
Bring me back to Texas skies of blue
I’m the loneliest cowboy ever known
I’m ridin’ along back home to you
San Antone, roll along, roll along
San Antone, roll along
Somewhere The Sun Is Shining (Larry W. Jones 05/18/2007) (song#4657)
Somewhere the sun is shining
Somewhere the skies are blue
While here my heart is pining
So blue and broken over you
Somewhere a love is growing
Into a sweet dream come true
But how could I be knowing
That you’d find someone new
I hope that you’ll be happy
Where the sun is shining through
And that you will think of me
If he should ever make you blue
– instrumental –
Dear, I’ll be here waiting
Until my life on earth is done
For I can’t be creating
A new life that has no sun
Somewhere the sun is shining
Somewhere the skies are blue
While here my heart is pining
So blue and broken over you
Somewhere a love is growing
Into a sweet dream come true
But how could I be knowing
That you’d find someone new
Somewhere the sun is shining
Somewhere the skies are blue
Bluebonnet Blooming In The Field (Larry W. Jones 05/18/2007) (song#4658)
The Texas sun was sinking low on the Brazos at Waco
My darling love was going away to Tennessee
It was in the month of May with bluebonnets on display
I held her in my arms and told her tenderly
You’re my bluebonnet blooming in the field
A blossom blooming for only me
Darling, my love for you is forever sealed
A blossom blooming for only me
One day a letter arrived from Tennessee
That said my bluebonnet darling had died
Great was the shock that came over me
As I read her words related to me inside
I’m your bluebonnet blooming in the field
A blossom blooming for only you
Darling, my love for you is forever sealed
A blossom blooming for only you
– instrumental –
Oh, why did she have to go to Tennessee
Though I know she missed her family
The wind storm came up so suddenly
My bluebonnet darling’s gone from me
Now she’ll never return to me from Tennessee
She has passed from this life and gone from me
In the month of May with bluebonnets on display
I remember the words my darling had to say
I’m your bluebonnet blooming in the field
A blossom blooming for only you
Darling, my love for you is forever sealed
A blossom blooming for only you
I’m your bluebonnet blooming in the field
A blossom blooming for only you
Lovely Moon Over Lubbock (Larry W. Jones 05/19/2007) (song#4659)
Tonight there’s a lovely moon over Lubbock
Where big fields of purple sage are growin’
There beneath the lovely moon over Lubbock
Soon to that west Texas town I’ll be goin’
For a sweet Texas girl I am so love struck
I’m goin’ to ask that girl to marry me
There beneath the lovely moon over Lubbock
Soon in that west Texas town I’ll be
– instrumental –
For a sweet Texas girl I am so love struck
I’m goin’ to ask that girl to marry me
There beneath the lovely moon over Lubbock
Soon in that west Texas town I’ll be
In my pickup truck I drove away from Lubbock
Just to see what the whole world held for me
But soon I’ll be under the moon over Lubbock
With my darlin’ in Lubbock is where I’ll be
Tonight there’s a lovely moon over Lubbock
My darlin’s back in Lubbock waitin’ for me
Pain At The End Of Mem’ry Lane (Larry W. Jones 05/19/2007) (song#4660)
They say that there is happiness
When taking a stroll down mem’ry lane
But for me there is only sadness
And pain at the end of mem’ry lane
Yesterday I got a letter from my darlin’
The words I read made me wish I were dead
She wrote, I hate to tell you this, darlin’
But another won my heart and we are wed
I can’t forget the beauty of her face
With her cute little turned up nose
And golden hair hanging down to there
In pony tails braided up with bows
– instrumental –
They say that there is happiness
When taking a stroll down mem’ry lane
But for me there is only sadness
And pain at the end of mem’ry lane
We grew up as best childhood pals
I was her beau and she was my gal
Now she’s married for silver and gold
And warm mem’ries will now turn cold
They say that there is happiness
When taking a stroll down mem’ry lane
But for me there is only sadness
And pain at the end of mem’ry lane
I’ll Sing At Her Reception Tonight (Larry W. Jones 05/19/2007) (song#4661)
I’ll put on my best clothes, most of her family will be there
I’ll wear my cowboy hat and boots cause it’s a western affair
My friends all think they know me, and all my songs are light
Though my heart may break, I’ll sing at her reception tonight
I’ll sing at your reception tonight, dear
I’ll sing at your reception tonight
Though my heart may break, dear
I’ll sing at your reception tonight
And when the party commences, I’ll help the crowd rejoice
Slow country and western songs are so easy on the voice
When the applause comes around, I’ll try to smile just right
Though my heart may break, I’ll sing at her reception tonight
At last the groom, he entered, with his bride upon his arm
At first I dared not look, then I smiled and put on my charm
I saw her smile at him the same way she once smiled at me
My poor heart was breaking but no person there could see
And when the party was over, I put my guitar down to rest
I’ll think of her often, she’s still the one I love the best
She once said that she loved me dearly and we’d never part
I sang songs at her reception with deception in my heart
I Saw You Along The Trail (Larry W. Jones 05/19/2007) (song#4662)
I saw you along the trail
When every bend came into view
Everywhere without fail
As I was riding all day through
In a town along the way
I hitched my pony at a small cafe
I saw you in the sweet rolls smell
The cottonwood trees and wishing well
I saw you along the trail
While riding on a summer’s day
While reading the stagecoach mail
I wondered why you went away
I saw you in the morning sun
I saw you in the evening too
And when the day was finally done
I saw the moon come into view
And I saw you
– instrumental –
I saw you along the trail
While riding on a summer’s day
While reading the stagecoach mail
I wondered why you went away
I saw you in the morning sun
I saw you in the evening too
And when the day was finally done
I saw the moon come into view
And I saw you
Amarillo Weekend (Larry W. Jones 05/19/2007) (song#4663)
Now, I’ll bet you an armadillo
There’s gonna be a dance in Amarillo
Everybody’s looking for something to do
I’ll bet the Texas two step is right for you
Come on cowboys, this is your chance
Amarillo cowgirls love to dance
Now, I’ll bet you an armadillo
The Texas two step is the dance in Amarillo
The weekend’s coming and it won’t take long
Til everybody learns to dance to a cowboy song
Come on cowboys, this is your chance
Amarillo cowgirls love to dance
Listen up cowboys, can’t you hear the noise
Amarillo cowgirls are lookin’ for cowboys
It sounds like thunder, and no wonder
An Amarillo weekend’s comin’ on
– instrumental –
Now, I’ll bet you an armadillo
The Texas two step is the dance in Amarillo
The weekend’s coming and it won’t take long
Til everybody learns to dance to a cowboy song
Come on cowboys, this is your chance
Amarillo cowgirls love to dance

You Followed The Sun (Larry W. Jones 05/19/2007) (song#4664)
Today I looked and you were gone
Yesterday it rained and you followed the sun
Today I know you were my only one
Yesterday it rained and you followed the sun
Somehow I knew the time would come
The time for you to go
And in the end I lost a lover and friend
Don’t pretend it isn’t so
Today I looked and you were gone
Yesterday it rained and you followed the sun
Yesterday it rained and you followed the sun
– instrumental –
Somehow I knew the time would come
The time for you to go
And in the end I lost a lover and friend
Don’t pretend it isn’t so
Today I looked and you were gone
Yesterday it rained and you followed the sun
As Long As I Have A Song And You (Larry W. Jones 05/19/2007) (song#4665)
Darlin’, we’ll get along
As long as I have a song and you
I know dark days may come
And it may rain some too
But as long as I have a song and you
The sun will come shining through
Deprivation
Darlin’, that may come along too
But why should I care
As long as you’re there
Darlin’, we’ll get along
As long as I have a song and you
– instrumental –
But as long as I have a song and you
The sun will come shining through
Deprivation
Darlin’, that may come along too
But why should I care
As long as you’re there
Darlin’, we’ll get along
As long as I have a song and you
Girl In High Heeled Slippers (Larry W. Jones 05/20/2007) (song#4666)
Now, come all you rounders and you will hear
Of Janie Jones, wife of a locomotive engineer
Janie Jones was Casey’s wife, she was the wife of a railroad man
John Luther Jones rode the Illinois Central to the promised land
Janie knew Casey Jones loved a locomotive
But she didn’t know Casey would make history
Janie saw Casey climb aboard a locomotive
Called the New Orleans Special on the old I.C.
Janie’s husband pulled into Memphis on train Number Four
Old Sam Tate was scheduled down to Canton but Sam was ill
When Illinois Central asked for a volunteer, Casey said, I will
If I can have Simon Webb, my fireman true, and engine number 382
Engine 382 was a Rogers Ten Wheeler, six drivers strong
A powerful locomotive and fast for the likes of Casey Jones
The big wheels were six feet high, made for railroad zippers
Casey Jones called her The Old Girl In High Heeled Slippers
Janie Jones saw Casey mounted in the cabin
Janie Jones saw Casey with orders in his hand
Janie Jones saw Casey mounted in the cabin
On his farewell journey to the promised land
Casey pulled out of Memphis nearly two hours late
Soon he had train Number One at a breakneck rate
Janie thought she could hear the new train whistle moan
And she knew the engineer was her man, Casey Jones
Casey yelled to Simon through the night time wind
Simon, open up the boiler door and heave the coal in
Simon Webb gave the coal shovel everything he had
Anything to make Canton on time for a railroad lad
Water in Sardis and Grenada in the early morn
It was April 30, 1900 near the town of Vaughn
Train Number One was now only two minutes late
Seventy miles an hour, Casey didn’t see the freight
Train Number Eighty Three was still on the main line
Casey yelled, jump Simon, while you still have time
At 3:52 in the morning with the throttle in his hand
Janie never knew her husband went to the promised land
Janie Jones with three children were left to mourn
Her husband, Casey lost his life on that April morn
Now only God knows if he will see divine grace
All we know is no one will ever take Casey’s place
Janie Jones said he died at the throttle
Janie Jones was the wife of a railroad man
Janie Jones said he died at the throttle
Casey Jones rode the girl in high heeled slippers
To the promised land
Silver Stardust (Larry W. Jones 05/24/2007) (song#4667)
Moonlight is fading away
It’s almost the beginning of day
As silver stardust turns to rust
I’ll just be on my way
Just a word before I go
May the bluebird by your window show
As silver stardust turns to rust
I’ll just be on my way
To where the bluebird never shows
And silver stardust never glows
That’s just where I will go
As I go on my way
– instrumental –
Just a word before I go
May the bluebird by your window show
As silver stardust turns to rust
I’ll just be on my way
To where the bluebird never shows
And silver stardust never glows
That’s just where I will go
As I go on my way
What was so right has gone so wrong
Love so bright did not last long
As silver stardust turns to rust
I’ll just be on my way
As silver stardust turns to rust
I’ll just be on my way
Adios Maria (Larry W. Jones 05/24/2007) (song#4668)
Adios, Maria, I have to go
The cowboy said, please Maria, don’t grieve so
You know, the trail has called me far across the prairie
Maria said, take this cottonwood leaf that’s turning gold
To remember my love that will ne’er grow old
Keep it close to your heart, my love, and remember me
The cowboy said, Maria, meet me down the trail
And greet me when I come riding home again
For I’ll return to you without fail
Beneath the cottonwood where this leaf once grew
Kiss me, Maria, before we part
Said the cowboy with a saddened heart
After the roundup in the Fall, Maria, I’ll return to you
I’ll be here, Maria, dear, I’ll be here
When the cottonwood’s turning gold is near
Beneath that old tree that grows so tall
After the roundup in the Fall
I’ll be here, Maria, dear, I’ll be here
See the cowboy with his pony just untied
The roundup is over and it’s time to ride
He’s heading down the trail to home
Back to the only girl who is his own
The autumn roundup was done without a care
As the cowboy rode his pony down the trail
Until, beneath the cottonwood tree he found a grave
The silent prayer he said was like a wail
For Maria, the girl he loved was sleeping there
And tears he shed fell on the golden leaf she gave
The cowboy said, Maria, meet me down the trail
And greet me when I come riding home again
For I’ll return to you without fail
Beneath the cottonwood where this leaf once grew
Kiss me, Maria, before we part
Said the cowboy with a saddened heart
After the roundup in the Fall, Maria, I’ll return to you
I’ll Follow My Broken Heart (Larry W. Jones 05/24/2007) (song#4669)
I’ll follow my broken heart
Until every part of life is through
It’s filled with dreams broken apart
None of them came true
But no matter what the cost
If I have to buy the moon above
I’ll follow my broken heart that’s lost
Til I hear spoken true words of love
– instrumental –
I know there will come a day
When love finds a brand new start
Until then I’ll find a way
To follow my broken heart
I’ll follow my broken heart
Until every part of life is through
It’s filled with dreams broken apart
None of them came true
But no matter what the cost
If I have to buy the moon above
I’ll follow my broken heart that’s lost
Til I hear spoken true words of love
I’ll follow my broken heart
Til I hear spoken true words of love
I’ll Ride The Trail Alone (Larry W. Jones 05/24/2007) (song#4670)
Sweetheart, I’ll leave you with this melody
Since you tell me that we’re through
And you say our love wasn’t meant to be
The ranch I built for you, it seems
Was a waste of cowboy dreams
And now I see how lonely things will be
I’ll ride the trail alone
To some place where I’m not known
Like a tumbleweed drifting alone and blue
I’ll ride the trail alone
To wherever the wind has blown
And when I think of a love that once was true
I’ll remember you
I sent a letter on the Butterfield stage
Though I had better things to do
Sealed with dew from the purple sage
Just to let you know I still love you
Sweetheart, if you will read the page
You will see my return address
Is on the trail of distress, alone and blue
I’ll ride the trail alone
To some place where I’m not known
Like a tumbleweed drifting alone and blue
I’ll ride the trail alone
To wherever the wind has blown
And when I think of a love that once was true
I’ll remember you
On The Low Side Of Lonely (Larry W. Jones 05/25/2007) (song#4671)
On the low side of lonely
Is such a lonely place to be
On the low side of lonely
Is not where I want to be
All I have are mem’ries only
Of yesterday’s side of lonely
When you were still with me
On the low side of lonely
Is such a lonely place to be
On the low side of lonely
Is just below my dignity
All I hope is that only
On yesterday’s side of lonely
You’ll be back home with me
– instrumental –
All I have are mem’ries only
Of yesterday’s side of lonely
When you were still with me
On the low side of lonely
Is such a lonely place to be
On the low side of lonely
Is just below my dignity
All I hope is that only
On yesterday’s side of lonely
You’ll be back home with me
No Stranger’s Arms (Larry W. Jones 05/25/2007) (song#4672)
No stranger’s arms, no stranger’s charms
No danger of any other love but you
Stormy weather sometimes made us blue
But heather bloomed when the sun came shining through
You and I have stayed together
And that same love that kept us together is still true
Blue skies have made us happy
As happy as your eyes of blue
You and I have stayed together
And that same love that kept us together is still true
– instrumental –
No strangers’ arms, no strangers’ charms
No danger of any other love but you
One of these days we may be parted
When our lives here must say adieu
But time will mend all broken hearted
And in the end I’ll still be with you
Until then…
No stranger’s arms, no stranger’s charms
No danger of any other love but you
I Overlooked A Four Leaf Clover (Larry W. Jones 05/25/2007) (song#4673)
I overlooked a four leaf clover
That was growing just outside my door
One petal was the sunshine
One petal was the rain
One petal was the song the bluebirds sing
When they come in spring again
I overlooked a four leaf clover
That was growing just outside my door
The fourth petal won my heart over
For darling, it’s you I adore
– instrumental –
One petal was the rain
One petal was the song the bluebirds sing
When they come in spring again
I overlooked a four leaf clover
That was growing just outside my door
The fourth petal won my heart over
For darling, it’s you I adore
Prairie Honeymoon (Larry W. Jones 05/25/2007) (song#4674)
The whippoorwill is calling, ye-oh-ul-oh-ul-dee
The dogies all are bawling, ye-oh-ul-oh-ul-dee
A wedding cake they’ll be hauling, ye-oh-ul-oh-ul-dee
A prairie honeymoon for her and me
Out here on the prairie where the purple sage blooms
Prairie roses give the scent of engagement perfume
Here lives a little cowgirl, my sweet prairie dove
She’s the pride of the prairie under heavens above
The whippoorwill is calling, ye-oh-ul-oh-ul-dee
– instrumental –
Her hair is colored golden, her eyes are bright blue
Her kisses are never bolden, a lady whose heart is true
Her voice is appealing, as when the angels sing
Our love we’ll be sealing with her wedding ring
The whippoorwill is calling, ye-oh-ul-oh-ul-dee
The dogies all are bawling, ye-oh-ul-oh-ul-dee
A wedding cake they’ll be hauling, ye-oh-ul-oh-ul-dee
A prairie honeymoon for her and me
ye-oh-ul-oh-ul-dee
ye-oh-ul-oh-ul-dee-eee
I’ll Sit At Home And Wait For You (Larry W. Jones 05/25/2007) (song#4675)
Now that you’re gone, what can I do
To make believe I’ve not lost you
I’ll just pretend dreams do come true
I’ll sit at home and wait for you
I know tomorrow you’ll be far away
Might as well be in the Milky Way
Unlike those stars that fade in day
This sorrow may never fade away
– instrumental –
I’ll just pretend dreams do come true
I’ll sit at home and wait for you
I know tomorrow you’ll be far away
Might as well be in the Milky Way
Unlike those stars that fade in day
This sorrow may never fade away
Darling, I’ll try my best not to cry
For that would only make me blue
So, until my eyes are really dry
I’ll sit at home and wait for you
I’ll think of you each and every night
Dear, I hope that you will be all right
Here’s how I’ll cope with feeling blue
I’ll sit at home and wait for you
Saddled For Texas (Larry W. Jones 05/25/2007) (song#4676)
I’m weary of Chicago noise and the wind
Up here I haven’t made or found a friend
I’m headin’ south while I’ve got a chance
I’m gonna find me a job on a Texas ranch
I’m saddled for Texas
Saddled for Texas
Saddled for Texas sand
Where I can see longhorn cattle
Hear rattlesnakes rattle
I’m saddled for Texas sand
I’m gonna work on a ranch til my days are done
Even though the pay is low I’ll still have fun
I’ll mend the fence and ride the range til I die
Spend my last ten cents in Texas in sunny skies
I’ll save up some pay and find me a bride
One fine day she’ll be riding by my side
We’ll get our own ranch and raise a cowboy
Watching longhorns graze will be a real joy
I’m saddled for Texas
Saddled for Texas
Saddled for Texas sand
Where I can see longhorn cattle
Hear rattlesnakes rattle
I’m saddled for Texas sand
I’ll play my guitar when the evening comes
Sing songs together to the guitar strums
I’ll sing about Texas and the Texas skies
And the love light I see shining in her eyes
I’m saddled for Texas
Saddled for Texas
Saddled for Texas sand
Where I can see longhorn cattle
Hear rattlesnakes rattle
I’m saddled for Texas sand
Heartwreck Hotel (Larry W. Jones 05/25/2007) (song#4677)
Open up them old dusty blinds
And let in some new sunshine
Yell down to the old bell boy
Tell him I’ve found a new joy
Gonna pay my bill, turn in my key
I can’t sit still, I’m so happy
Because…
I’m hittin’ the deck from heartwreck hotel
I ain’t lookin’ no more at gloomy skies
I’ve found a darlin’ who thinks I’m swell
I ain’t walkin’ the floor with cryin’ eyes
So, get my duffel cause I’m feelin’ fine
I’m doin’ the single shuffel one last time
Sign a traveller’s check for a last farewell
I’m hittin’ the deck from heartwreck hotel
Now, you can tell that sad old maitre d’
This old blues guitar ain’t meant for me
I’ll be singin’ songs with a happier sound
For a darlin’ who’ll turn your head around
Well, on that heartwreck hotel window sill
There never sang a bluebird ’cause of the chill
Now I see sunshine through the window pane
It sure looks fine, much better than the rain
I’m up to my neck in love as everyone can tell
I’m hittin’ the deck from heartwreck hotel
Yeah, what the heck, I’m hittin’ the deck
From heartwreck hotel
South Padre Isle (Larry W. Jones 05/26/2007) (song#4678)
There’s a girl I love on a Texas isle
Isle of love, isle of love, South Padre Isle
Where tall palm trees feel the Gulf wind breeze
On a shoreline fair, where love is in the air
Someone I know is waiting by the Gulf of Mexico
All night long, by the shore, by the shore
Love songs I’ll sing for one I so adore
I already see it’s a lovely place to be
I’m gonna stay awhile on South Padre Isle
– instrumental –
I already see it’s a lovely place to be
I’m gonna stay awhile on South Padre Isle
I’ll see her smile on South Padre Isle
Beneath the shelt’ring palms we’ll stroll in style
We will live and love where warm winds blow
On the Gulf of Mexico
I’m sentimental for a girl so gentle
A trip down there will be worthwhile
I’m gonna stay awhile on South Padre Isle
A trip down there will be worthwhile
I’m gonna stay awhile on South Padre Isle
Heaven Says Howdy (Larry W. Jones 05/26/2007) (song#4679)
Heaven says howdy
When the sun tells a cloudy day to clear away
Heaven says howdy
When the bluebirds sing to the flowers in May
And when the day is done
I hurry home to my one and only one
With words of love each and every day
– instrumental –
Heaven says howdy
When the sun tells a cloudy day to clear away
Heaven says howdy
When the bluebirds sing to the flowers in May
Heaven says howdy
When it’s not too crowdy and I have you all alone
Dear, I’ll never doubt the love that you have shone
Heaven says howdy
Because it’s never cloudy in the sunshine of your love
No Blue Eyes Crying In The Rain (Larry W. Jones 05/26/2007) (song#4680)
Sad memories that linger within my heart
Are blue eyes crying in the rain
Someday love will live again, sweetheart
No tears will blue eyes cry again
When my blue moon turns to gold again
You’ll be back from that lonely mem’ry lane
When my blue moon turns to gold again
There’ll be no blue eyes crying in the rain
Sweet lips that used to thrill me so
I remember from what seems ages ago
Sweetheart you and I will one day meet again
There’ll be no blue eyes crying in the rain
– instrumental –
When my blue moon turns to gold again
There’ll be no sad mem’ries of days of old
Dear, when I hold you once again as then
My blue moon once again will turn to gold
When my blue moon turns to gold again
You’ll be back from that lonely mem’ry lane
When my blue moon turns to gold again
There’ll be no blue eyes crying in the rain
Aiming High (Larry W. Jones 05/26/2007) (song#4681)
Darlin’, I’m aiming high
My eye is on that Texas star in the sky
Oh yes, I’m aiming high
I might get weak but I’ll reach the peak
Dear, you’re the only thing that matters
Cause you are my Texas star
If I must, I’ll just climb some ladders
To get up to where you are
Darlin’, it might be a climb but I’ve got the time
Because I’m
I’m aiming high
Every day when I walk out my door
I think about where you are
My mind’s made up, it’s you I adore
Darlin’, you are my Texas star
– instrumental –
Darlin’, I’m aiming high
My eye is on that Texas star in the sky
Oh yes, I’m aiming high
I might get weak but I’ll reach the peak
Dear, you’re the only thing that matters
Cause you are my Texas star
If I must, I’ll just climb some ladders
To get up to where you are
Darlin’, it might be a climb but I’ve got the time
Because I’m
I’m aiming high
Riding On Top Of The World (Larry W. Jones 05/26/2007) (song#4682)
I’m riding on top of the world
Just riding along
Just riding along
I’ve got news, I’m through with the blues
Just humming my song
Just humming my song
Mercy me, I ain’t got time to trudge
Glory be, somebody call the circuit judge
Like Humpty fell with a Dumpty fall
My heart is pumpin’, might even stall
And the reason, I don’t have to guess
That girl done gone and told me, Yes
– instrumental –
Like Humpty fell with a Dumpty fall
My heart is pumpin’, might even stall
And the reason, I don’t have to guess
That girl done gone and told me, Yes
I’m riding on top of the world
Just riding along
Just riding along
I’ve got news, I’m through with the blues
Just humming my song
Just humming my song
I’m riding on top of the world
Lonesomest Cowboy (Larry W. Jones 05/26/2007) (song#4683)
Meet the lonesomest cowboy around
I’m nobody in this shoddy town
I’ve got no cowgirl here to call me dear
Got nobody to bring me cheer
But I’m learnin’ to roll the dice
Someday somebody’s gonna treat me nice
I’m gonna steal a heart and make it purr
When I kiss her with a cowboy smack
She’s gonna squeal when I squeeze her
And I’m never gonna give her back
Cause I’m so lonesome in this here town
Meet the lonesomest cowboy around
– instrumental –
If you read the obituary someday
About a poor cowboy who passed away
You can shed a tear in case you hear
It was me last seen cryin’ in my beer
If they print my picture with a smile on my face
Take a hint, it was upside down and out of place
If you wanna save a cowboy from his grave
Find me a cowgirl who my heart can save
Meet the lonesomest cowboy around
I’m nobody in this shoddy town
I’ve got no cowgirl here to call me dear
Got nobody to bring me cheer
But I’m learnin’ to roll the dice
Someday somebody’s gonna treat me nice
I’m gonna steal a heart and make it purr
When I kiss her with a cowboy smack
She’s gonna squeal when I squeeze her
And I’m never gonna give her back
Cause I’m so lonesome in this here town
Meet the lonesomest cowboy for miles and miles around
Too Sad To Be Glad (Larry W. Jones 05/26/2007) (song#4684)
Dear, I’m not gonna worry
About all those things you said
Cause you’re not gonna change until you’re dead
And dear, I’m too sad
Yes dear, I’m too sad about you
I’m too sad to be glad that we’re through
I thought you’d always love me
I heard you say you were my own
But now I guess I must have heard you wrong
And dear, I’m too sad
Yes dear, I’m too sad about you
I’m too sad to be glad that we’re through
– instrumental –
You’ve got your suitcase packed
Don’t think of coming back no more
Cause things can never be the same as they were before
And dear, I’m too sad
Yes dear, I’m too sad about you
I’m too sad to be glad that we’re through
Dear, you’ve broken every vow
But it doesn’t matter now
I’ve heard every word that excuses will allow
And that’s what is so sad
Yes dear, I’m too sad about you
I’m too sad to be glad that we’re through
Molly Is The Gal I Left Behind Me (Larry W. Jones 05/27/2007) (song#4685)
Well, I hit the trail in seventy nine
Herd of longhorns strung out behind me
As I rode along I hummed a song
Of the Texas gal I left behind me
That Texas gal, little Texas gal
Sweet Texas gal I left behind me
Molly is the gal, little Texas gal
Molly is the gal I left behind me
Now, on this Goodnight-Loving Trail
If Comanches, they don’t find me
By golly I’m goin’ to Texas again
To Molly, the gal I left behind me
That Texas gal, little Texas gal
Sweet Texas gal I left behind me
Molly is the gal, little Texas gal
Molly is the gal I left behind me
When coyotes wail and cattle stampede
And longhorns come running behind me
I’ll jolly go back at the bullwhip’s crack
To Molly, the gal I left behind me
That Texas gal, little Texas gal
Sweet Texas gal I left behind me
Molly is the gal, little Texas gal
Molly is the gal I left behind me
Well, I wish I was back at the big corral
So hail and rain and wind don’t blind me
I’m gonna saddle pal to my little Texas gal
To Molly, the gal I left behind me
That Texas gal, little Texas gal
Sweet Texas gal I left behind me
Molly is the gal, little Texas gal
Molly is the gal I left behind me
Two lips That Deceive (Larry W. Jones 05/27/2007) (song#4686)
A rose petal fell from a bouquet
It settled on two lips I kissed that day
As Gypsies say, and I now believe
A rose petal falls on lips that deceive
A rose petal fell and so did a star
I saw a kiss that lingered well too far
You vowed your love, I was proud of your love
Our dreams were one but they came undone
A love I believed has now made me grieve
When one rose petal fell on two lips that deceive
– instrumental –
As Gypsies say, and I now believe
A rose petal falls on lips that deceive
A rose petal fell and so did a star
I saw a kiss that lingered well too far
You vowed your love, I was proud of your love
Our dreams were one but they came undone
A love I believed has now made me grieve
When one rose petal fell on two lips that deceive
Boot Scoot Rag (Larry W. Jones 05/27/2007) (song#4687)
Get out a bandana and shine up my boots
Meet my darlin’ tonight in my western suit
I live in Texas and I sure know how to brag
Tell her that I love her and she’s in the bag
One boot, two boots, new boots drag
Swing your darlin’ to the Boot Scoot Rag
Bag a little darlin’ with a Texas brag
To a steel guitar and the Boot Scoot Rag
– instrumental –
Got a cold six pack of Lone Star Beer
Four are for me and two for my dear
Chug-a-lug ’em down, it sure is fine
Listen to the fiddle and guitar whine
One boot, two boots, new boots drag
Swing your darlin’ to the Boot Scoot Rag
Bag a little darlin’ with a Texas brag
To a steel guitar and the Boot Scoot Rag
— Instrumental —
One boot, two boots, new boots drag
Swing your darlin’ to the Boot Scoot Rag
Bag a little darlin’ with a Texas brag
To a steel guitar and the Boot Scoot Rag
Gonna dance all night til my eyelids sag
Swing my darlin’ to the Boot Scoot Rag
Stroll right out to the middle of the floor
Dance with my darlin’ til three or four
One boot, two boots, new boots drag
Swing your darlin’ to the Boot Scoot Rag
Bag a little darlin’ with a Texas brag
To a steel guitar and the Boot Scoot Rag
– instrumental –
One boot, two boots, new boots drag
Swing your darlin’ to the Boot Scoot Rag
Bag a little darlin’ with a Texas brag
To a steel guitar and the Boot Scoot Rag
Lights Of San Antone (Larry W. Jones 05/27/2007) (song#4688)
I can see the lights of San Antone
Shining where warm winds have blown
That call to me where ‘ere I roam
Away from the lights of San Antone
In that sleepy little Texas town
Not much stirs when the sun goes down
Boots and spurs hardly make a sound
Neath the moonlight of San Antone
– instrumental –
In that sleepy little Texas town
Not much stirs when the sun goes down
Boots and spurs hardly make a sound
Neath the moonlight of San Antone
Someone turn the hands of time for me
Back to a memory that’s like a song
So that once again at home I’ll be
Beneath the lights of San Antone
So that once again at home I’ll be
Beneath the lights of San Antone
In A West Texas Garden (Larry W. Jones 05/27/2007) (song#4689)
In a west Texas garden on a west Texas hill
Night time was calling with the whippoorwill
A smile strolled by me and then I saw clearly
Heaven in a pair of western boots
In a west Texas garden where primroses grow
Is where I first spoke words of, I love you so
For my heart was so lonely until I saw go only
An angel in a pair of western boots
Then one day like the west Texas wind
She was gone and no love could I win
But I’ll remember in the cold of December
An ember of west Texas love
– instrumental –
In a west Texas garden where primroses grow
Is where I first spoke words of, I love you so
Then one day like the west Texas wind
She was gone and no love could I win
But I’ll remember in the cold of December
An ember of west Texas love
In a west Texas garden on a west Texas hill
In some way I pray that she waits for me still
My heart will always burn and always yearn
For an angel in a pair of western boots
Acapulco By The Sea (Larry W. Jones 05/27/2007) (song#4690)
Now’s the time the Mexican moon is shining down
On Acapulco by the sea
Now’s the time the Mariachi guitars begin to sound
In Acapulco by the sea
Sleep and dream sweet Acapulco lady
Try hard to dream of me
Do Acapulco breezes still sing love songs
As when I bid adios by the sea
That same golden Acapulco moon is shining there
On Acapulco by the sea
Those same sweet songs of seabirds fill the air
In Acapulco by the sea
Sleep and dream sweet Acapulco lady
Sing your songs of amor once more for me
Those songs that once told me that you care
In Acapulco by the sea
Once more I seem hear her softly singing
Mi amor, Mi amor
As through the palms, Mariachi guitars ringing
Oh, bring back those balmy days by the sea
Acapulco lady, my tears go falling
Every time I hear your soft voice calling me
Mi amor, Mi amor
In Acapulco by the sea
Trails Of Old Wyoming (Larry W. Jones 07/27/2007) (song#4691)
I remember riding along the trails of old Wyoming
I could hear wild coyotes wails in their roaming
Like a homing pidgeon homing
I’m going back to ride the trails of old Wyoming
In the evening I would rest when the sun was falling
I could hear the prairie wind with lullabys a-calling
From the hills the whippoorwills would call me home
Morning broke with a song
When day awoke with the sun
The old corral was really grand
Longhorn cattle I had to brand
And the day had only just begun
– instrumental –
Morning broke with a song
When day awoke with the sun
The old corral was really grand
Longhorn cattle I had to brand
And the day had only just begun
I remember riding over the range
There was jimson grass to roam in
There’s nothing I would rearrange
Along the trails of old Wyoming
Like a homing pidgeon homing
I’m going back to ride the trails of old Wyoming
Along the trails of old Wyoming
Cherokee Love Call (Larry W. Jones 05/28/2007) (song#4692)
Ooo-Ooo-Oo-Oo-Oo-Oo
This call is only for my Cherokee
Ooo-Ooo-Oo-Oo-Oo-Oo
Darling, I’m lonely as I can be
Ooo-Ooo-Oo-Oo-Oo-Oo
This Cherokee love call is from Heaven above
Please answer this call with your words of love
– instrumental –
Ooo-Ooo-Oo-Oo-Oo-Oo
Darling, I’m lonely as I can be
Ooo-Ooo-Oo-Oo-Oo-Oo
This Cherokee love call is from Heaven above
Please answer this call with your words of love
Darling, listen carefully and you will hear
Ooo-Ooo-Oo-Oo-Oo-Oo
This Cherokee love call for only you, dear
Ooo-Ooo-Oo-Oo-Oo-Oo
Please answer true if our love is to be
For I love only you, my sweet Cherokee
Please answer true if our love is to be
For I love only you, my sweet Cherokee
Ooo-Ooo-Oo-Oo-Oo-Oo
Ooo-Ooo-Oo-Oo-Oo-Oo
Iron Horse Rolling On (Larry W. Jones 06/01/20070 (song#4693)
Down along great river valleys
Up across the Great Divide
All would hear the rolling thunder
That would not be denied
White smoke along rails of steel
Flaming stack and rolling wheels
Heading toward the western sea
Writing into the pages of history
Rolling thunder heading west
Treading rails in some new quest
Listen to that whistle moan
Iron horse rolling on and on
Iron horse rolling on
Rolling over trestles spanning rivers wild
Iron men manning tenders where coal is piled
Listen to that whistle moan
Iron horse rolling on and on
Iron horse rolling on
– instrumental –
White smoke along rails of steel
Flaming stack and rolling wheels
Heading toward the western sea
Writing into the pages of history
Rolling thunder heading west
Treading rails in some new quest
Listen to that whistle moan
Iron horse rolling on and on
Iron horse rolling on
We’ve Burned Our Bridges Now (Larry W. Jones 06/01/2007) (song#4694)
It doesn’t matter now as to what the future holds
You’re gone and I don’t care what unfolds
My dreams died yesterday when you broke your vow
But I’m not concerned because
We’ve burned our bridges now
Not so long ago I told you that I loved you
Not so long ago you said you loved me too
I never knew the heartbreak that such words allow
But I’m not concerned because
We’ve burned our bridges now
– instrumental –
Now that we have burned our bridges that were new
I have learned how love can turn from gold to blue
I don’t know why it happened or just how
But I’m not concerned because
We’ve burned our bridges now
Now that we have parted, I’ll try to forget you
Although I might be broken hearted and feeling blue
Tomorrow is another day that our love will disavow
But I’m not concerned because
We’ve burned our bridges now
No, I’m not concerned because
We’ve burned our bridges now
This Awful Pain (Larry W. Jones 06/02/2007) (song#4695)
From time to time I feel this awful pain
Sometimes in the sun and always in the rain
Once in a while it doesn’t hurt at all
But those are times I can’t recall
I’m chained to a memory of love that didn’t rhyme
And I feel this awful pain from time to time
From time to time I still try to smile
But most of the time it’s just not my style
My friends tell me I’m not very sociable
But somehow I find that time is not negotiable
A broken heart is in a lot of pain
And it takes time for it to live again
From time to time I feel this awful pain
Sometimes in the sun and always in the rain
Once in a while it doesn’t hurt at all
But those are times I can’t recall
I’m chained to a memory of love that didn’t rhyme
And I feel this awful pain from time to time
As the time goes by, every now and then
I feel a heartache coming on again
You’d never know it just to look at me
But there are things that only broken hearts can see
Only time will tell if I ever come alive
Until then I only hope I can survive
From time to time I feel this awful pain
Sometimes in the sun and always in the rain
Once in a while it doesn’t hurt at all
But those are times I can’t recall
I’m chained to a memory of love that didn’t rhyme
And I feel this awful pain from time to time
Cowboy Code Of The Golden West (Larry W. Jones 06/02/2007) (song#4696)
Sitting on the old top rail of the old corral
Looking to no avail down the trail for my saddle pal
Words would fail if I tried to tell how loyal he has been
And I don’t know when I’ll find a friend like him again
He rode away this very day after years of riding herd
All I can say is that in every way he kept his word
May his new abode somewhere down the road be blessed
For he bestowed on all the cowboy code of the golden west
– instrumental –
Sitting on the old top rail of the old corral
Looking to no avail down the trail for my saddle pal
He rode away this very day after years of riding herd
All I can say is that in every way he kept his word
May his new abode somewhere down the road be blessed
For he bestowed on all the cowboy code of the golden west
For he bestowed on all the cowboy code of the golden west
Between These Lines (Larry W. Jones 06/02/2007) (song#4697)
Dear, it would take too long to say goodbye
So I’ll just include it between these lines
Dear, I hope this letter doesn’t make you cry
With all the I Love You’s I’ve underlined
Dear, I hope this letter gets to you
The way that your goodbye got to me
It was such a surprise out of the blue
When you said you wanted to be free
You’ll find a kiss between these lines
Between these lines that make me sigh
You’re too far away for me to kiss
So I’ll just include it between these lines
– instrumental –
Dear, it would take too long to say goodbye
So I’ll just include it between these lines
Dear, I hope this letter doesn’t make you cry
With all the I Love You’s I’ve underlined
You’ll find a kiss between these lines
Between these lines that make me sigh
You’re too far away for me to kiss

Outbound Train At Noon Blues (Larry W. Jones 06/02/2007) (song#4697)
When I woke up this morning
Skies were cloudy, it was raining too
When I woke up this morning
Skies were cloudy, it was raining too
My good gal, she done told me
She’s leaving on the outbound train at noon
I asked my good gal why she was leaving
Why she was leaving so soon
I asked my good gal why she was leaving
Why she was leaving so soon
My good gal, well she told me
She was tired of grieving and wearing her worn out shoes
When I woke up this morning
My good gal was on a short fuse
When I woke up this morning
My good gal was on a short fuse
Now I’ve got to tell you fellas
I’ve got the outbound train at noon blues
– instrumental –
My good gal, well she told me
She was tired of grieving and wearing her worn out shoes
I tried to reason with my baby
But anything I said was no use
I tried to reason with my baby
But anything I said was no use
My good gal, she done told me
She’s leaving on the outbound train at noon
When I said goodbye this morning
My good gal was on a short fuse
When I said goodbye this morning
My good gal was on a short fuse
Now I’ve got to tell you fellas
I’ve got the outbound train at noon blues
Earnest Tubb The Texas Troubadour (Larry W. Jones 06/02/2007) (song#4698)
Some people go out and join a club
Just to appear that they’re the man
But all I want to hear is Earnest Tubb
And his Texas Troubadour band
Earnest Tubb liked Jimmie Rodgers
Bill Monroe, Roy Acuff and George Jones
Along with Hank Williams and Lefty Frizzell
Earnest sang real Texas country songs
Earnest sang on the Grand Ole Opry
And started the Midnight Jamboree
Everyone from Texas to Carnegie Hall
Knew Earnest Tubb was a legacy
Ah Billy Bird now…
– instrumental –
Earnest sang Blue Eyed Elaine and Slippin’ Around
Tomorrow Never Comes and Two Glasses Joe
Walking The Floor Over You was Earnest’s sound
And Let’s Say Goodbye Like We Said Hello
In every honky tonk in Texas
A jukebox plays the sound country fans adore
He’s the man who made Texas music
Earnest Tubb, the Texas Troubadour
He’s the man who made Texas music
Earnest Tubb, the Texas Troubadour
It’s Been A Long Time Sweetheart (Larry W. Jones 06/02/2007) (song#4699)
It’s been a long time, sweetheart
Since I said so long and went away
It’s been a long time, sweetheart
Dear, I’ve counted every single day
I read your letters, every single word
Of how you cried while I’ve been gone
Let me say, sweetheart, I just heard
A few more days and I’ll be home
It’s been a long time, sweetheart
Since I held you in my arms
It’s been a long time, sweetheart
Since I fell for your charms
Dear, I can’t help but visualize
When all my dreams come true
It’s been a long time, sweetheart
Soon I’ll be steaming home to you
– instrumental –
It’s been a long time, sweetheart
But that doesn’t matter now
It’s been a long time, sweetheart
But my heart is as true as love allows
I told the captain to stow the chart
When I return I’ll ne’re more roam
It’s been a long time, sweetheart
A few more days and I’ll be home
It’s been a long time, sweetheart
Since I held you in my arms
It’s been a long time, sweetheart
Since I fell for your charms
Dear, I can’t help but visualize
When all my dreams come true
It’s been a long time, sweetheart
Soon I’ll be steaming home to you
Remembering Is So Easy (Larry W. Jones 06/02/2007) (song#4700)
That sweet smile upon your face
Nothing worthwhile could take its place
It always looked so good on you
Remembering is so easy
But forgetting is hard to do
I remember a line that once was true
Your, I love you, sounded so divine
Now, it’s all over for me and you
Remembering is so easy
But forgetting is hard to do
– instrumental –
I’ve got to stop this dreaming
About holding you so tight
When moonlight comes streaming
Through my window pane at night
But then I guess I’d rather dream
About holding you so tight
Even though I know such scheming
Will never make things right
Every little moment in time
Brings an image that’s very clear
Dear, I remember and I feel blue
Remembering is so easy
But forgetting is hard to do
Misty River (Larry W. Jones 06/03/2007) (song#4701)
Your love is as clear as a misty river
Flowing to the Gulf of Mexico
I’ve run aground on this misty river
You’re not around, I saw you go
You took love but you weren’t a giver
There’s no hope here anymore
Someone help me on this misty river
I can’t see clearly any shore
– instrumental –
There’s only sorrow on this misty river
No tomorrow can I count on
I can’t borrow love on this misty river
All that I owned is now gone
I feel like I’ve been sold down river
I guess I just was not your kind
My boat’s aground in this misty river
Til your mem’ry floats from my mind
Blue Sky Day Tomorrow (Larry W. Jones 06/03/2007) (song#4702)
Gonna buy a new Stetson hat and Tony Lama boots
Sweet mama’s coming tomorrow under skies of blue
Don’t stop that train, wheels keep rolling free
Blue sky day tomorrow, baby’s coming home to me
Sweet mama sent me a telegram just the other day
Said she was takin’ the tram to the railroad quay
Gonna practice my Texas smile to a Big-D degree
Blue sky day tomorrow, baby’s coming home to me
– instrumental –
Gonna buy a new Stetson hat and Tony Lama boots
Sweet mama’s coming tomorrow under skies of blue
Sweet mama sent me a telegram just the other day
Said she was takin’ the tram to the railroad quay
Gonna practice my Texas smile to a Big-D degree
Blue sky day tomorrow, baby’s coming home to me
Blue sky day tomorrow, baby’s coming home to me
Juarez Town (Larry W. Jones 06/03/2007) (song#4703)
Down I strayed where Spanish guitars played
Across the border where the sun is hot
I crossed on my pony where the Rio is stony
And when I found a cantina I made a stop
I never meant to stay so I rode away
But I’m gonna go back to Juarez some day
Her skin is brown, she wore a Mexican gown
I left a pretty senorita in Juarez Town
Down at the plaza where the children play
The old folks sit in the cooling shade
I left her in Juarez but I’ll have to say
Tequila is fine and so is a Mexican maid
I never meant to stay so I rode away
But I’m gonna go back to Juarez some day
Her skin is brown, she wore a Mexican gown
I left a pretty senorita in Juarez Town
Mellow music everywhere can be found
And the pretty senoritas put on a show
I left my heart down in Juarez Town
Just across the Rio Grande in Mexico
I never meant to stay so I rode away
But I’m gonna go back to Juarez some day
Her skin is brown, she wore a Mexican gown
I left a pretty senorita in Juarez Town
I never meant to stay so I rode away
But I’m gonna go back to Juarez some day
Her skin is brown, she wore a Mexican gown
I left a pretty senorita in Juarez Town
Barbara Becky And Bonnie (Larry W. Jones 06/04/2007) (song#4704)
Well, I kissed Barbara in the summer
And I kissed sweet Becky in the fall
But my heart was set on Bonnie
Though I’d never kissed Bonnie at all
I sang love songs to Barbara
And did the same to sweet Becky
But my heart was set on Bonnie
Bonnie stole my heart from me
Whenever Bonnie came into view
I wanted to ask her to stay
Though I was blue, she never knew
Bonnie never looked my way
– instrumental –
I sang love songs to Barbara
And did the same to sweet Becky
But my heart was set on Bonnie
Bonnie stole my heart from me
I sent Barbara summer flowers
And to Becky I sent the same
But my heart was set on Bonnie
And now Bonnie has my last name
I sent Barbara summer flowers
And to Becky I sent the same
But my heart was set on Bonnie
And now Bonnie has my last name
Texas Bluebird Fly Away (Larry W. Jones 06/05/2007) (song#4705)
Spread your wings for a country queen
Texas bluebird, fly away
Sing your refrain to Elaine, your refrain to Elaine
She sings in a little bar in Abilene
Elaine went away to search for lights and fame
By now Elaine might have even changed her name
It’s been so long since she’s been gone
Texas bluebird, fly away
Sing your refrain to Elaine, your refrain to Elaine
Let her know I miss her every day
When she boarded that train that was burnin’ coal
Elaine said a country music queen was her burning goal
Texas bluebird, sing to Elaine a refrain or two
Tell her she won’t go far in Abilene bars
And when her dreams come apart at the seams
She can be my queen of country music stars
Spread your wings for a country queen
Texas bluebird, fly away
Sing your refrain to Elaine, your refrain to Elaine
Be on your way to her today
And when you arrive, tell her that I’m still alive
Texas bluebird, tell her that I want her for my bride
Texas bluebird, fly away
Texas bluebird, fly away
Texas bluebird, fly away, fly away, fly away…..
Natural By Nature (Larry W. Jones 06/05/2007) (song#4706)
Some things are just natural by nature
And for a heart that needs to endure
Nothing beats loving you as a natural cure
Loving you came naturally
Like peaches that grow on an orchard tree
Your love is sweet and natural as can be
It wasn’t my nature to fall in love
Until an angel came from heaven above
Darlin’, you’re the one I’m naturally fond of
– instrumental –
Some things are just natural by nature
And for a heart that needs to endure
Nothing beats loving you as a natural cure
Loving you is the easiest thing
Like a bluebird making the whole world sing
It’s natural by nature in the Spring
It wasn’t my nature to fall in love
Until an angel came from heaven above
Darlin’, you’re the one I’m naturally fond of
It’s the most natural thing I can think of
Just being with you and being in love
It’s natural by nature
Natural by nature
It’s natural by nature to be in love with you
Silver Moons And Golden Sunsets (Larry W. Jones 06/06/2007) (song#4707)
Dear, you have your lonely mansion with your gold in every room
And your silver candelabras that have a glow just like the moon
I know you can’t be happy even though you changed your name
And dear, I know your lonely mansion cannot hide your shame
Silver moons and golden sunsets are just mem’ries of my mind
Oh, how soon those golden sunsets disappeared that were mine
Now all I have are regrets because true love was not your kind
Silver moons and golden sunsets are just mem’ries of my mind
– instrumental –
I know you can’t be happy even though you changed your name
And dear, I know your lonely mansion cannot hide your shame
Silver moons and golden sunsets are just mem’ries of my mind
Oh, how soon those golden sunsets disappeared that were mine
Now all I have are regrets because true love was not your kind
Silver moons and golden sunsets are just mem’ries of my mind
Silver moons and golden sunsets are just mem’ries of my mind
Lazy Cowboy Life (Larry W. Jones 06/07/2007) (song#4708)
I’m gonna live a lazy cowboy life
Under the bright blue western sky
Just a-strummin’ and a-hummin’
And a-rockin’ as the world goes by
Out where the setting sun gets hazy
At the end of a lazy cowboy day
Gonna ride down a trail of daisies
A-strummin’ and a-hummin’ my way
Some folks like to work all the time
Chase after a dream they can’t find
As for me, I’d rather spend my time
Livin’ a life that will ease my mind
The whole world has gone kinda crazy
But that’s not the way I live my life
I’m just a cowboy who’s kinda lazy
A-strummin’ and a-hummin’ from strife
– instrumental –
Some folks like to work all the time
Chase after a dream they can’t find
As for me, I’d rather spend my time
Livin’ a life that will ease my mind
The whole world has gone kinda crazy
But that’s not the way I live my life
I’m just a cowboy who’s kinda lazy
A-strummin’ and a-hummin’ from strife
I’m gonna live a lazy cowboy life
Under the bright blue western sky
Just a-strummin’ and a-hummin’
And a-rockin’ as the world goes by
Just A Two Steppin’ Cowboy (Larry W. Jones 06/08/2007) (song#4709)
I go to all the barn dances
Cowgirls are always there galore
But I’m a cowboy as blue as before
What good are all those darn dances
When there’s more I’m yearning for
Most cowboys find a cowgirl to love
But I’m not the one they’re thinking of
I’m just a two steppin’ cowboy
I guess that’s all I’ll ever be
I go to all the barn dances for romance
But the cowgirls side step me in the dance
I hear, “I want to be a cowboy’s sweetheart” in my ear
But it’s only Patsy Montana’s singin’ that I hear
I’m just a two steppin’ cowboy
Dancing with a side steppin’ cowgirl
I guess that’s all I’ll ever be
– instrumental –
Most cowboys find a cowgirl to love
But I’m not the one they’re thinking of
I’m just a two steppin’ cowboy
I guess that’s all I’ll ever be
I go to all the barn dances for romance
But the cowgirls side step me in the dance
I hear, “I want to be a cowboy’s sweetheart” in my ear
But it’s only Patsy Montana’s singin’ that I hear
I’m just a two steppin’ cowboy
Dancing with a side steppin’ cowgirl
I guess that’s all I’ll ever be
King Of The Rodeo (Larry W. Jones 06/09/2007) (song#4710)
Horse trailer for sale or rent, down to my last fifty cents
No wins, just debts, more sweats, nobody’s taking bets
Ah, but eight seconds on a bucking bronc
Buys another great round in a honky tonk
Livin’ on beans, wearin’ faded jeans
King of the rodeo
Six seconds on old Hurricane, headed for the ground and pain
Got holes in my worn out boots, from climbin’ too many chutes
I’ve been to rodeos of renown
Tryin’ to be the best all-around
Livin’ on beans, wearin’ faded jeans
King of the rodeo
I know every cowboy in the Hall of Fame
From big Jim Shoulders to Kenny McLean
And every parking spot at the Astrodome
And every clock that tick tocked eight seconds long
I’m singin’…..
Cowboy With Rusty Spurs (Larry W. Jones 06/09/2007) (song#4711)
Way out west in the days of old
There lived a cowboy wild and free
But this cowboy wasn’t very bold
As a way out west cowboy should be
He rode an old paint that looked kinda quaint
Searching for cowgirls in distress that ain’t
Just to let them know
That he was their hero
Toward the setting sun
See the cowboy with rusty spurs ride
Brandishing a rusty gun
His trusty old paint in a loping stride
Up to the outlaw camp he sneaked
But as he walked around
His rusty old spurs really squeaked
They made a scary sound
When one outlaw said he’d heard a ghost
Then all the others deserted their posts
They rode for their lives
All headed for the coast
So the cowboy with rusty spurs won
His cowgirl second to none
He got all those outlaws on the run
Without using his rusty gun
He dismounted his pony to kiss his bride
Now it may sound phony but that cowboy
Was just as rusted as his spurs inside
He wasn’t in distress, so I can’t guess
How they ever got so lusty
And had twins
That they named Trusty and Dusty
Both of them were his and hers
Hers and the cowboy with rusty spurs
Sad King Of The Hill (Larry W. Jones 06/10/2007) (song#4712)
Whippoorwill sitting on a lonely hill
Sad, sad King of the Hill is he
Cry whippoorwill, cry whippoorwill
How very sad your life must be
Whippoorwill sitting on a lonely hill
His tears could fill up the very sea
Be still mister whippoorwill, be still
And save some of your tears for me
Whippoorwill sitting on a lonely hill
Sounding as lonely as he can be
Wait mister whippoorwill, be still
That lonely sound you hear is me
Well, I’m just a cowboy with no love
Just as lonely as I can be
A whippoorwill with no turtle dove
Sad King of the Hill is me
– instrumental –
Whippoorwill sitting on a lonely hill
Sounding as lonely as he can be
Wait mister whippoorwill, be still
That lonely sound you hear is me
Well, I’m just a cowboy with no love
Just as lonely as I can be
A whippoorwill with no turtle dove
Sad King of the Hill is me
Page From Along The Trail (Larry W. Jones 06/10/2007) (song#4713)
I know that there’s no good reason
Why this letter from me took so long to arrive
The Butterfield Stage runs twice a week
And I wanted to let you know I’m still alive
It’s just one page from along the trail
And I send my love by the Overland mail
Daddy, are there still horses in the big corral
Do you still play poker with your saddle pals
I remember all the good times that we had
I miss you Dad
I know I’ve spent a lot of years along the trail
I should have sent more letters with more detail
I guess I’m just a tumbleweed in the wind
But to the old home mem’ries I try to cling
Who knows, I might show up in the Spring
I’d like to see you and Mama once again
Mama dear, do you still bake those apple pies
And make that cake that won a blue ribbon prize
Is the dew still on the purple sage
Like I knew in a younger age
I know I should write another page
Does little brother still ring the dinner bell
Or has he found another place to dwell
Does Sis still have her dimpled glow
Did she marry her beau
Tell her I said hello
Hope this letter finds you well
Love, and a page from along the trail
Lady Of Laredo (Larry W. Jones 06/10/2007) (song#4714)
Lady of Laredo, I adore you
No other senorita is before you
Listen to my song, I implore you
For you my words of love are true
Lady of Laredo, am I dreaming
The moon upon the Rio is beaming
Such is your beauty I’m esteeming
Lady of Laredo, say you love me too
– instrumental –
Moonlight on the Rio, night of splendor
Mexican guitars, love songs will render
Music made for love under starry skies above
Serenade oh, for the Lady of Laredo
Lady of Laredo, I adore you
No other senorita is before you
Listen to my song, I implore you
For you my words of love are true
Lady of Laredo, am I dreaming
The moon upon the Rio is beaming
Such is your beauty I’m esteeming
Lady of Laredo, say you love me too
Peaceful Laramie (Larry W. Jones 06/11/2007) (song#4715)
Jeremy rode into town carefully
Townfolks looked down on an outlaw gun
The stranger rode into Laramie
Jeremy Jasper was an outlaw on the run
His eyes looked up and down warily
The town was peaceful in his view
But outlaws of renown knew Laramie
Was a town you better ride on through
– instrumental –
Fast were the guns in Jeremy Jasper’s day
But in Laramie they were only fools to stay
For even the fastest draw, the die was cast
In Laramie, in Laramie, outlaws didn’t last
Laramie was a peaceful town in his view
But the sheriff there was no fool
Jeremy Jasper made his play
He’s still talked about today
The townfolks buried him merrily
Just outside Laramie
Peaceful Laramie
Peaceful Laramie
Adios And A Fine Farewell (Larry W. Jones 06/11/2007) (song#4716)
I’m going away, down the trail I ride
Heading west across the Great Divide
Come and stay awhile dear, by my side
I must tell you adios and a fine farewell
– instrumental –
Over lofty mountains standing tall
Over prairie and vale I’ll be bound
This fine farewell I’ll recall most of all
When upon the seas I’ll be found
A drover of cattle is all I’ve known
I’ll see the world from an ocean swell
The trail I cannot now postpone
I bid you adios and and a fine farewell
– instrumental –
Over lofty mountains standing tall
Over prairie and vale I’ll be bound
I’ll recall this fine farewell most of all
When upon the seas I’ll be found
A drover of cattle is all I’ve known
I’ll see the world from an ocean swell
The trail I cannot now postpone
I bid you adios and and a fine farewell
Adios and a fine farewell
This Is The Last Time (Larry W. Jones 06/11/2007) (song#4717)
I guess you never knew, I left the lights on for you
Wishing you’d return so my heart wouldn’t yearn
But too much time has passed, so this is the last
The last time my light will shine for you
This is the last time my light will shine for you
This is the last time I’ll whisper your name and call you dear
This is the last time I’ll stay awake and wait for you
But it won’t be the last time that I shed a tear
– instrumental –
If you could only know how much I missed you so
If you only knew that my dreams were only dreams of you
Then you’d know why I cry and why I keep on asking why
But this is the last time I’ll pretend that you’re still mine
This is the last time my light will shine for you
This is the last time I’ll whisper your name and call you dear
This is the last time I’ll stay awake and wait for you
But it won’t be the last time that I shed a tear
Where The Cheyenne River Flows (Larry W. Jones 06/11/2007) (song#4718)
T’was on one bright Spring morn when I bid Cheyenne adieu
And I rode the trail to Denver town, my fortune to renew
I lost all of my earnings and the mine of gold I had to close
Which filled my heart with longing for where the Cheyenne River flows
So I saddled up my pony beneath the bright warm Colorado sun
And I rode the trail back to Wyoming where my travels had begun
All strangers here, no friends to me ’til a Cheyenne girl toward me shows
And I fell in love with an Indian girl where the Cheyenne River flows
I said, my pretty Cheyenne girl, my money is gone for good
If it weren’t for the grizzlies, I’d sleep out in the wood
You’re welcome here kind stranger, our teepees are set in rows
And we never turn a stranger out where the Cheyenne River flows
She took me to the Chieftain’s lodge and treated me quite well
The hair upon her shoulders in jet black ringlets fell
To try and paint her beauty I’m sure I could not compose
So lovely was my Indian girl where the Cheyenne River flows
I asked her if she’d marry me, she said never could it be so
For she had a fine brave at Thunder Basin hunting the buffalo
She said that she would wait for him until her fine brave shows
Til he returned for his Indian girl where the Cheyenne River flows
So fair thee well to the Indian girl I never will see no more
But I’ll ne’er forget your kindness and the mem’ries that you bore
And at each social gathering a flowing glass in tribute I’ll propose
And drink to the health to an Indian girl where the Cheyenne River flows
Last Train To San Antone (Larry W. Jones 06/11/2007) (song#4719)
Somewhere there’s a brand new cowboy waiting to be born
In a barn somewhere there’s a sheep waiting to be shorn
One of them is waiting for the daylight of the morn
And one of them is wondering what will keep it warm
I’m waiting at the station and my hair is all wind blown
And big wheels are turning on the last train to San Antone
There’s a DJ on the radio with more sad songs to play
There’s a girl who passed my way and wanted me to stay
I listened to them both and all I have to say
Is play another sad song and I’ll be on my way
– instrumental –
This one way train ticket is the only thing on earth I own
And big wheels are turning on the last train to San Antone
I’m waiting in a line that’s now my destiny
Looking for a sign as to where it’s leading me
The train is headed south, listen to it moan
There’s only one way out, down to San Antone
And big wheels are turning
And big wheels are turning
And big wheels are turning on the last train to San Antone
Ruby (Larry W. Jones 06/12/2007) (song#4720)
Sometimes your mind can make you wonder
You can’t tell if something’s really there
Especially if you are under
The magic smell of perfume in the air
There’s something about that feeling
That you just can’t quite get
But it’s something that’s quite appealing
Concealing someone you’ve never met
Ruby is the vision in the cowgirl boots and hat
Was she at the rodeo sitting near to where you sat
Or was she at the barn dance you went to back last Fall
Ruby may have danced with you the two step or the waltz
– instrumental –
There’s something about that feeling
That you just can’t quite get
But it’s something that’s quite appealing
Concealing someone you’ve never met
Ruby is the vision that you see in some familiar locale
Riding her pony with precision in the barrel race corral
Ruby is the first cowgirl who’s kiss was so divine
But Ruby, oh Ruby’s just a vision of your mind
Ruby’s just a vision of your mind
Drugstore Cowboy (Larry W. Jones 06/12/2007) (song#4721)
Ye-odl-lay-dee-hoo, ye-odl-lay-dee-hoo
Ye-odl-ee-odl-ee-odl-ee-a-dee-hoo
Which sounds really crazy and kinda hazy
But all the old cowboys sang that a-way
He was just a drugstore cowboy
He didn’t have a hair on his chest
He rode an old mare that made everyone stare
But he did it with flair just like he dressed
Every morning he would saddle his mare
And jump on her back where it swayed
He’d round up a longhorn, and then he’d adorn
Those horns with a floral bouquet
He was just a drugstore cowboy
With no hair on his chest and quite frail
One day he went berserk, roughed up the soda jerk
And stole all of his ginger ale
So, they sent a Texas Ranger to find him
And bring him back alive or dead
The Ranger knew where he’d gone and it didn’t take long
Before the Ranger filled him with lead
They called the undertaker
And said embalm him without fail
So, to begin, he infused him with gin
And it mixed well with the ginger ale
Well, that was the end of the drugstore cowboy
There’s no use in telling the rest
They couldn’t allow this decoy to become a real cowboy
He didn’t have a hair on his chest
Ye-odl-lay-dee-hoo, ye-odl-lay-dee-hoo
Ye-odl-ee-odl-ee-odl-ee-a-dee-hoo
Down A Lazy River (Larry W. Jones 06/12/2007) (song#4722)
When the moon is bigger than just a sliver
The moon becomes a lovey dovey love giver
Sunshine makes me lazy
I need a shade that’s hazy
And someone just to be lazy with me
Down a lazy river where the mudcats run
Down a lazy river like a river rat’s son
Fish for awhile by a sycamore tree
Cast away your troubles on the double
Down a lazy river with me
Down a lazy river is where I belong
Try to dream a little and come along
Summertime is here and the moon’s above
Let’s float down a lazy river
Down a lazy river in love
– instrumental –
Down a lazy river where the mudcats run
Down a lazy river like a river rat’s son
Fish for awhile by a sycamore tree
Cast away your troubles on the double
Down a lazy river with me
Down a lazy river is where I belong
Try to dream a little and come along
Summertime is here and the moon’s above
Let’s float down a lazy river
Down a lazy river in love
Owner Of The Brand (Larry W. Jones 06/13/2007) (song#4723)
An only son, the only one of a cowboy tall and tanned
Who worked his whole life for his wife whom he praised
And for this young cowboy that he alone would raise
Much too fast her life passed and we were left to stand
Just me and my Dad who was the owner of the brand
A working cowboy of the west, he did his very best
To run the ranch that he and Mom had so long planned
He did all the chores and he seldom stopped to rest
The ranch was his and he was the owner of the brand
The owner of the brand is now retired and growing old
But his cowboy blood runs in my veins and in my soul
I doubt that I will ever fill his bootprints in the sand
I’m just a strand of the man who is the owner of the brand
If I’d been born some other place I’d never hear this call
I might have been in life’s rat race or been no place at all
But here I am in west Texas and I know I’ll stay a spell
Cause this cowboy life is the only life that I know well
I thank you for the lessons and the stories that you told
I thank you that I could be a son from your strong mold
I thank you the Rocking J and maybe one day I’ll stand
As tall and tanned as you and be the owner of the brand
Dad, I want to be like you and be the owner of the brand
Little Cowgirl In A Cowgirl Hat (Larry W. Jones 06/15/2007) (song#4724)
It isn’t the baseball team at bat that’s calling to me
And it’s not a welcome mat that’s enthralling to see
It’s a little cowgirl in a cowgirl hat
In a little honky tonk in Texas
It isn’t Big Dallas’ skies or anything like that
Not some high rise with a million dollar flat
It’s a little cowgirl in a cowgirl hat
In a little honky tonk in Texas
When she goes to the rodeos
All the cowboys are climbing the chutes
Just to get a look real close
From her cowgirl hat down to her boots
– instrumental –
When she goes to the rodeos
All the cowboys are climbing the chutes
Just to get a look real close
From her cowgirl hat down to her boots
I have to go, but I’ll be back, cause what I enjoy
Isn’t really the rodeo, I guess you know, for this cowboy
It’s a little cowgirl in a cowgirl hat
In a little honky tonk in Texas
It’s a little cowgirl in a cowgirl hat
In a little honky tonk in Texas
Big Oil Well (Larry W. Jones 06/16/2007) (song#4725)
There was a big oil well
On a big oil hill
Where the big Texas stars shine bright
Now a big cowboy
And his little cowgirl
Fell in love by the big oil well one night
Up above was the big Texas moon
It made a big Texas scene to see
And very soon they bought the moon
With the big oil well on the big oil hill
That was pumping all that Texas Tea
– instrumental –
Up above was the big Texas moon
It made a big Texas scene to see
And very soon they bought the moon
With the big oil well on the big oil hill
That was pumping all that Texas Tea
Well, the big cowboy and the little cowgirl
Bought the whole oil field on the big oil hill
And the yield was a new Texas family
Of big cowboys and little cowgirls
Who lived in luxury
Saddle Tramp Kid (Larry W. Jones 06/17/2007) (song#4726)
His hat and face were all wrinkled and worn
He was just a saddle tramp when he was born
In Spain they would have named him El Cid
Nobody knows the pain of the Saddle Tramp Kid
He hit the trail when he was barely sixteen
Searching for some holy grail and rarely seen
A book couldn’t hold all the things he did
Nobody was as bold as the Saddle Tramp Kid
The Saddle Tramp Kid loved his saddle tramp ways
He never hid when the guns were about to blaze
And when the smoke all cleared, none would forbid
The passing on through of the Saddle Tramp Kid
He had few friends but he had lots of fans
He became a legend in the western bad lands
All the sheriffs and lawmen sought to rid
The wild wild west of the Saddle Tramp Kid
– instrumental –
The Saddle Tramp Kid loved his saddle tramp ways
He never hid when the guns were about to blaze
And when the smoke all cleared, none would forbid
The passing on through of the Saddle Tramp Kid
One day he was cornered in Longhorn Caverns Cave
But nobody today mourns over his lonely grave
The strong arm of the law applied as it always did
To the wrong charm that belied the Saddle Tramp Kid
The Saddle Tramp Kid loved his saddle tramp ways
He never hid when the guns were about to blaze
And when the smoke all cleared, none would forbid
The passing on through of the Saddle Tramp Kid
A Dear John Letter Has No Heart (Larry W. Jones 06/17/2007) (song#4727)
Today I got your Dear John letter, dear
And I know the tears are about to start
I read your letter over very slow, dear
Now I know a Dear John letter has no heart
A Dear John letter has no heart to care, dear
Words on a Dear John letter just seem so cold
I used to have sweet dreams of only you, dear
Now all I have is a Dear John letter to hold
This letter I got today is from your own hand
I can tell that you were nervous from the start
But dear, don’t worry now, because I understand
Why they say a Dear John letter has no heart
– instrumental –
A Dear John letter has no heart to care, dear
Words on a Dear John letter just seem so cold
I used to have sweet dreams of only you, dear
Now all I have is a Dear John letter to hold
This letter I got today is from your own hand
I can tell that you were nervous from the start
But dear, don’t worry now, because I understand
Why they say a Dear John letter has no heart
Pete Lester (Larry W. Jones 06/18/2007) (song#4728)
I’ve heard a friend in need is a friend indeed
And most folks think they’re now a dying breed
But I know someone who still lives by that creed
Pete Lester lives at Switzerland Trail number 22
Just west of Boulder where Colorado skies are blue
If you ever run off the trail and lose your route
Pete Lester will hear your wail and pull you out
Pete is the kind of friend you rarely read about
He’s lived in Sunset since nineteen sixty nine
He’s watched the sun set o’er the Great Divide
One day the sun will set on a friend of mine
Pete is the kind that only kind words define
– instrumental –
Pete doesn’t ask for money, he’s more than fair
When the snowmelt is running there’s no despair
And when it’s sunny Pete always works his share
If you don’t have a dollar, Pete won’t holler
But remember his old spare might need some air
He’s lived in Sunset since nineteen sixty nine
He’s watched the sun set o’er the Great Divide
One day the sun will set on a friend of mine
Pete is the kind that only kind words define
He’s lived in Sunset since nineteen sixty nine
He’s watched the sun set o’er the Great Divide
One day the sun will set on a friend of mine
Pete is the kind that only kind words define
So, if you need a friend to find when you’re in need
Pete Lester is a friend, a fine friend of mine indeed
Feeding Quarters To The Jukebox (Larry W. Jones 06/18/2007) (song#4729)
I’m feeding quarters to the jukebox
Steel guitar music in the air
I’m feeding quarters to the jukebox
Cause you no longer care
I’m closing down the windows
Of my heart cause I can’t bear
To feel the way the wind blows
When true love’s no longer there
Once we knew such great days
When we strolled in the clover
Now all I can see are grey days
Sweet bouquet days are over
Outside this honky tonk are sunbeams
I know they’re dancing everywhere
Inside this honky tonk are broken dreams
Some are right here in this chair
– instrumental –
I’m closing down the windows
Of my heart cause I can’t bear
To feel the way the wind blows
When true love’s no longer there
I’m feeding quarters to the jukebox
Steel guitar music in the air
I’m feeding quarters to the jukebox
Cause you no longer care
If Life Was A Country Love Song (Larry W. Jones 06/18/2007) (song#4730)
If life was a country love song
Dear, we could sing it along together
We could teach our hearts a country love song
And fill both of them with rhyme
So, let’s write the words of a country love song
Then we’ll compose the music for that song together
We’ll write one that will last a long, long time
If life was a country love song
Dear, we could make it go on forever
We could train our hearts to sing that refrain
And fill them with love together
– instrumental –
If life was a country love song
Dear, we could make it go on forever
We could train our hearts to sing that refrain
And fill them with love together
So, let’s write the words of a country love song
Like Bob Wills wrote in the Rose of San Antone
We’ll write one that will last us all life long
Lady Lucinda Paloma (Larry W. Jones 06/18/2007) (song#4731)
I remember when Mexican music began
I remember when the mariaches started to sing
She was more than all I had planned
Lady Lucinda Paloma was like the fragrance of Spring
Never had I seen a dream from heaven above
Never had I held the hand of a Mexican dove
Such was the aroma
Of Lady Lucinda Paloma
I remember the music that played in my ears
Although I have to think deeper each day
I remember looking into dark eyes of tears
Knowing that time would sweep her away
Lady Lucinda Paloma was the kind
That love would once in a lifetime find
Such was the persona
Of Lady Lucinda Paloma
– instrumental –
Like a breeze that comes over me at night
She comes to tease me while I sleep
Though she’s real, she’s still out of sight
She was only a dream I couldn’t keep
Lady Lucinda Paloma was the kind
That love would once in a lifetime find
Such was the persona
Of Lady Lucinda Paloma
I remember when Mexican music began
I remember when the mariaches started to sing
She was more than all I had planned
Lady Lucinda Paloma was like the fragrance of Spring
Never had I seen a dream from heaven above
Never had I held the hand of a Mexican dove
Such was the aroma
Of Lady Lucinda Paloma
Such was the aroma
Of Lady Lucinda Paloma
Young Stan The Cowhand (Larry W. Jones 06/19/2007) (song#4732)
Young Stan, the cowhand, was a greenhorn saddle tramp
His hand as a drover had not yet begun
He rode into camp just as we were lighting the lamp
A young saddle tramp with a Texas six gun
He was too late for supper except for left over beans
To his pony, we gave hay that was green
With his boot soles all worn and the holes in his jeans
He couldn’t have been more that sixteen
His saddle was a sight with stitches coming undone
He wore a pair of Texas spurs but one rowel was gone
We wanted to tell him to go back to where he’d begun
But the look on his face told us, wait til the dawn
He said his Mama had gone to her final rest
His Daddy tried to raise him as he knew best
But the work was too slim and so was the pay
So he saddled his pony to make his own way
Young Stan, the cowhand, still had much to learn
About how to handle a herd of wild cows
So the trail boss told him, his wage he must earn
By being a good drover of cattle somehow
He started as a helper behind old Cookies’s chuckwagon
Spent his time learnin’ til his boots were a-draggin’
He wrangled with the horses and he gathered the wood
And as a fine cowhand, we all learned that he could
On the Goodnight-Loving trail, camped just south of Raton
We were headed for Cheyenne, how fat the cattle had grown
In the middle of the night, we heard the thunder with fright
And heard the little dogies bawl as the rain started to fall
Young Stan, the cowhand, joined the other cowboys real fast
The time for being a greenhorn was seen as being now past
The longhorns and dogies stampeded, their hooves fairly flew
As the bright lightning flashed and the stormy winds blew
At the head of the wild eyed pack, a Texas six gun we heard
It was young Stan, the cowhand, riding hell-bent on his steed
He was shouting and riding like a bird as his pony he spurred
Trying to turn the stampeding longhorns that were in the lead
At last the stampede was over, thanks to a Texas six gun
Cowboys that night had earned their brand
They all rode back into the camp, that is, except for one
That cowboy was young Stan, the cowhand
His pony showed up at dawn, bridle dragging and alone
Climax Canyon runs through that land
He died at the bottom of that draw, but he had shown
The hero was young Stan, the cowhand
Young Stan, the cowhand, was a greenhorn saddle tramp
His hand as a drover was now over and done
He had ridden into camp as we were lighting the lamp
A young saddle tramp with a Texas six gun
Little Cowgirl Passing By (Larry W. Jones 06/20/2007) (song#4733)
Little cowgirl, passing by
Catching every cowboy’s eye
You’ve got the charms, got the style
You’ve got the sweetest, shyest smile
Little cowgirl, hat set in place
Look at that smile on your face
You’re the perfect cowgirl
That cowboys like to chase
What’s your business anyway
Making cowboys dizzy that-a-way
Bet you’ve been out honky tonkin’
Look at that smile on your face
– instrumental –
Little cowgirl, hat set in place
Look at that smile on your face
You’re the perfect cowgirl
That cowboys like to chase
What’s your business anyway
Making cowboys dizzy that-a-way
Bet you’ve been out honky tonkin’
Look at that smile on your face
Little cowgirl, passing by my door
Here’s a kiss or three or four
You’re that little cowgirl
That pretty little cowgirl that I adore
Little Old Wishful Thinker Me (Larry W. Jones 06/20/2007) (song#4734)
I left my home in California
Where they grow grapes that make the choicest wine
Now I’ve roamed to Texas
Thinking I could get that woman off my mind
I keep feeding quarters to the jukebox
Thinking how all those sad songs and I agree
I wish that woman hadn’t thought about changing the locks
Little old wishful thinker me
I just got here yesterday from Bakersfield
The only way I could get here was on the train
She got my car and my guitar and love’s repealed
I think I’ll play that last sad song again
– instrumental –
I just got here yesterday from Bakersfield
The only way I could get here was on the train
She got my car and my guitar and love’s repealed
I think I’ll play that last sad song again
I keep feeding quarters to the jukebox
Thinking how all those sad songs and I agree
I wish that woman hadn’t thought about changing the locks
Little old wishful thinker me
Oh, me
Little old wishful thinker
Little old wishful thinker me
Sweet Darlin’ (Larry W. Jones 06/20/2007) (song#4735)
Sweet darlin’, what do I have to do
My heart is blue from beating just for you
Sweet darlin’, my future had such gloom in it
I felt that love could find no room in it
Until, one night, I heard love calling
My sweet darlin’
Sweet darlin’, treat my heart with mercy
You could be my darlin’ nursie
Then there would be no controversy
My sweet darlin’
– instrumental –
Sweet darlin’, my future had such gloom in it
I felt that love could find no room in it
Until, one night, I heard love calling
My sweet darlin’
Dear, I’m so in love with you
And I hope that you can see
That if you say you love me too
In paradise we both could be
Sweet darlin’, circumstances vary
Sweet darlin’, let’s make our future merry
Sweet darlin’, won’t you marry me
My sweet darlin’
Sweet darlin’ won’t you marry me
Just A Little Old Laredo Serenade (Larry W. Jones 06/21/2007) (song#4736)
On a little avenue in old Laredo
Was heard the sound of guitars and mandolino
It was just a little tune that mariaches played
Just a little old Laredo serenade
It was just a little tune that he could win her love with
One that wasn’t just a masquerade
Some music to swoon even the man in the moon above with
Just a little old Laredo serenade
So glad is the lad at the sight above
When he sees her at her window open wide
So glad, I might add, is he for her love
Just a little old Laredo serenade outside
– instrumental –
It was just a little tune that he could win her love with
One that wasn’t just a masquerade
Some music to swoon even the man in the moon above with
Just a little old Laredo serenade
So glad is the lad at the sight above
When he sees her at her window open wide
So glad, I might add, is he for her love
Just a little old Laredo serenade outside
On a little avenue in old Laredo
The sound of guitars and mandolino
One that wasn’t just a masquerade
Just a little old Laredo serenade
Texas Two Step Boogie (Larry W. Jones 06/21/2007) (song#4737)
I got a new Stetson hat and a hot guitar
And I done made a date with a movie star
They’ve got a fiddle and they’ve got a bow
Gonna do the Texas two step boogie, I know
Do the Texas two step boogie
All over the floor
Do the Texas two step boogie
Til your feet are sore
We’ll dance til the morning when the sun comes up
Then we’ll drink a pot of coffee from an old tin cup
And if the sun don’t shine enough to grow the corn
Then we’ll do the Texas two step boogie in the barn
Gonna call my little movie star on the telephone
And I’ll tell her that I love her and I’m all alone
So, come on baby, and now don’t you be slow
For the Texas two step boogie with the radio
Do the Texas two step boogie
All over the floor
Do the Texas two step boogie
Til your feet are sore
There’s a hot fiddle playin’ in a Texas swing band
I’ve got a new pair of boots, they’re Nacona brand
I’ll call up the DJ, and then I’ll ask him to play
The Texas two step boogie, and to do it right away
Do the Texas two step boogie
All over the floor
Do the Texas two step boogie
Til your feet are sore
Do the Texas two step boogie
Texas two step boogie
Texas two step boogie
Do the Texas two step boogie
Til your feet are sore
Osage Route (Larry W. Jones 06/25/2007) (song#4738)
She rolled into sight a mile up the track
Working up steam with her brake shoes slack
Her whistle moaned when at the whistle post
Stopping at the station like a lonesome ghost
Old John heard the roar on the polished steel
Of steam drivers pounding on six big wheels
The flanges made a screech on ribbons of rail
As she rolled along west on the prairie trail
– instrumental –
Old John got ready and he took a chance
He climbed aboard to do the hobo’s dance
He reached up high for the end door pin
Opened up the door and Old John climbed in
Old John didn’t bother with counting sheep
He just crawled on in and went fast asleep
The whistle moaned as she high balled out
With Old John headed west on the Osage Route
Playing Second Fiddle (Larry W. Jones 06/26/2007) (song#4739)
It seems like you’re always up ahead
While behind is always where I tread
A failure is what I was meant to be
I would like to be the first in line
But I fear the worst is always mine
Playing second fiddle is lonely me
Playing second fiddle is where I belong
Being number one is just not my song
It’s like reading the second hand news
Playing second fiddle is playing the blues
– instrumental –
It seems like you’re always up ahead
While behind is always where I tread
Playing second fiddle is where I belong
Being number one is just not my song
It’s like reading the second hand news
Playing second fiddle is playing the blues
Dear, don’t you know I’m in love with you
Even though I know that I’m number two
There’s another love who’s ahead of me
Playing second fiddle is lonely me
It seems like you’re always up ahead
While behind is always where I tread
There’s another love who’s ahead of me
Playing second fiddle is lonely me
The Month Of May (Larry W. Jones 06/26/2007) (song#4740)
The month of May, the month of May
The month of May has made me blue
In the month of May you went away
When your Springtime love was due
Once we bought a rose bush and planted it with glee
Your love was to be just as sweet as that rose for me
That rose has now withered and you’re just a memory
Now, the month of May finds me as blue as I can be
– instrumental –
The month of May, the month of May
The month of May has the bluest skies
In the month of May you went away
Your eternal love for me was only lies
A pretty rose of May can’t live forever
Like a love that grows and somehow dies
Your love for me you now have severed
And the month of May just makes me cry
The month of May, oh the month of May
The month of May just makes me cry
Down On Galveston Bay (Larry W. Jones 06/26/2007) (song#4741)
Well, I came down with the blues
When my darlin’ left me down on Galveston Bay
Some stevedore came around and he bore her away
I never treated that girl bad, she was the only love I had
She didn’t say goodbye, but she made me cry
She made me want to die down on Galveston Bay
Well, I’m down to my last nickel, down to my last dime
If my darlin’ don’t come back, I’m down to losin’ my mind
The longer that she stays away, the stronger are my crazy days
Just a fool I’ve been crowned down on Galveston Bay
– instrumental –
I never treated that girl bad, she was the only love I had
She didn’t say goodbye, but she made me cry
She made me want to die down on Galveston Bay
Well, I’m sittin’ at the dock feelin’ the rain begin to pour
I guess I’m still in shock over the pain from a stevedore
I think I’ll take the Gulf Freeway north to some place that’s new
Maybe to Big-D or Fort Worth where maybe I can forget about you
Well, I’m down to my last nickel, down to my last dime
If my darlin’ don’t come back, I’m down to losin’ my mind
The longer that she stays away, the stronger are my crazy days
Just a fool I’ve been crowned down on Galveston Bay
My darlin’ let me down, down on Galveston Bay
Bound To A Texas Tumbleweed (Larry W. Jones 06/26/2007) (song#4742)
I remember the first time I saw her
I was in the saddle so far from home
I was riding my pony just like a blur
Following where the wind had blown
She said one day, for my ways I’d pay
But my soul was born of a roving breed
And my heart was bound to a Texas tumbleweed
She said she made a wish beneath the desert moon
That I would banish my ways and come back soon
I had to tell her no, for I wished not to mislead
And my heart was bound to a Texas tumbleweed
– instrumental –
She said she could string some fences to try to hold me in
But that would only ring true for a little while
Because this restless spirit that I have always felt within
Is bound to lead me down the trail a thousand miles
She said one day, for my ways I’d pay
But my soul was born of a roving breed
And my heart was bound to a Texas tumbleweed
She said she made a wish beneath the desert moon
That I would banish my ways and come back soon
I had to tell her no, for I wished not to mislead
And my heart was bound to a Texas tumbleweed
And my heart was bound to a Texas tumbleweed
It Takes One Plus One To Make One Love (Larry W. Jones 06/27/2007) (song#4743)
Darlin’, one heart is just never enough
Two beating together smoothes the rough
And one pair of lips can look so nice
But remember, it took two in paradise
Darlin’, it takes one plus one to make one love
One lonely heart can beat just fine, dear
But yours and mine together I want to hear
One pair of arms can reach for the empty air
But yours entwined with mine will show you care
Darlin’, it takes one plus one to make one love
One true love for you darlin’, is my one desire
One true love darlin’, can set two worlds on fire
Love’s spark that’s burning is what I’m speaking of
Darlin’, it takes one plus one to make one love
– instrumental –
And one pair of lips can look so nice
But remember, it took two in paradise
One lonely heart can beat just fine, dear
But yours and mine together I want to hear
One pair of arms can reach for the empty air
But yours entwined with mine will show you care
Darlin’, it takes one plus one to make one love
One true love for you darlin’, is my one desire
One true love darlin’, can set two worlds on fire
Love’s spark that’s burning is what I’m speaking of
Darlin’, it takes one plus one to make one love
Little Border Town (Larry W. Jones 06/27/2007) (song#4744)
If I had a pony to ride I would travel to Texas, you see
Any old trail I’d take without fail, for Texas is heaven to me
Where the sun sets to rest in the far Texas west
There I’d build me a nest in the place I love best
That little border town where the Rio flows around
Will always be found deep down in my heart
That west Texas sand, to me is simply grand
And the Rio Grande and I could never part
It’s the place of my dreams and it calls to me, it seems
There’s no better place that I have found
Like a long lost cowboy, I’ll shout for joy
In that little border town where the Rio flows around
Shadows will be falling when the evening’s calling
Around that old ranch house without a key
It’s the place of my dreams and it calls to me, it seems
Family and friends are waiting there for me
And there’s someone I know on whose lips I’ll bestow
A kiss that will bring me happiness eternally
That little border town where the Rio flows around
Will always be found deep down in my heart
That west Texas sand, to me is simply grand
And the Rio Grande and I could never part
It’s the place of my dreams and it calls to me, it seems
There’s no better place that I have found
Like a long lost cowboy, I will shout for joy
In that little border town where the Rio flows around
Lullaby Of The Tumbleweeds (Larry W. Jones 06/27/2007) (song#4745)
Rolling of the tumbleweeds once was my lullaby
Out in west Texas when just a cowboy so high
Even now as a full grown man
These words I still understand
Rock me where west Texas skies
Wink from heaven like a million eyes
Sing of a cowboy’s simple needs
Lullaby of the tumbleweeds
If I don’t dream a dream that’s true
Well then, any good dream will do
Sing of a cowboy’s simple needs
Lullaby of the tumbleweeds
I’m riding along, along where the trail may lead
Riding along with a song of the tumbleweeds
Ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh
There’s a melody I feel in my chest
Calling to me when I need to rest
Ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh
A melody coming from the Texas west
I know I feel it when I start to roam
I know I need it when I get back home
Sing of a cowboy’s simple needs
Lullaby of the tumbleweeds
Lullaby of the tumbleweeds
Bring My World Back Today (Larry W. Jones 06/28/2007) song#4746)
Bring my world back today
The one where love was golden
Turn away these skies of grey
And bring my world back today
Last December you said you loved me
But in the Spring you went away
Dear, please return and I’ll forgive you
Please bring my world back today
Bring my world back today
The one where love was golden
Turn away these skies of grey
And bring my world back today
– instrumental –
I don’t think you meant to hurt me
When you decided to go astray
Please return, and my true love be
And bring my world back today
Bring my world back today
The one where love was golden
Turn away these skies of grey
And bring my world back today
Old Cryin’ Fiddle (Larry W. Jones 06/28/2007) (song#4747)
When the old cryin’ fiddle has played its last tune
And the band packs up to go home
And the halo has gone from around the full moon
And the cowboys are too tired to roam
When the old barn is quiet with no dancing music
And the clouds cover over the stars
Darlin’, I get so lonely just thinkin’ of you only
And wondering just where you are
Once we were together when the music was playing
And the wind whispered through cottonwood trees
You were in my arms and love words we were saying
Those love words have drifted away on the breeze
When the old barn is quiet with no dancing music
And the clouds cover over the stars
Darlin’, I get so lonely just thinkin’ of you only
And wondering just where you are
Well, the old cryin’ fiddle has played its last tune
And the band has packed up to go home
And the halo has gone from around the full moon
Darlin’, sweet darlin’, where have you gone
When the old barn is quiet with no dancing music
And the clouds cover over the stars
Darlin’, I get so lonely just thinkin’ of you only
And wondering just where you are
Mandolin Ben (Larry W. Jones 06/28/2007) (song#4748)
Well, I had me some money and I had me a honey
And my honey was as pretty as you’ve ever seen
Then Mandolin Ben showed up and came between
With fast bluegrass singin’ and mandolin pickin’
Mandolin Ben stole my sweet Madelyn from me
Mandolin Ben came every night to her window to serenade
He sang fast bluegrass songs about romance
Then I lost sweet Madelyn to music Mandolin Ben played
I wondered if I would ever have another chance
Well, the only chance I had was to answer an ad
In a magazine about how to play bluegrass fast
What the heck, I sent a check so I could begin
I wondered when I made it out to Mandolin Ben
– instrumental –
I got the course in the mail and I practiced without fail
After awhile, I knew the neighbors didn’t like it
When they put up a sign that read House For Sale
I plinked and I plunked until they thought I was drunk
And all of my plinkin’ plunkers were sore
But I knew I couldn’t quit cause the course said I’d be a hit
And I wanted to see sweet Madelyn some more
I had to do a lotta stringin’ while I practiced my singin’
But all the neighbors threatened to get a rope
Every time I started singin’, my doorbell started ringin’
The neighbors said that that was all she wrote
But Mandolin Ben has my sweet Madelyn
And I can’t give in until I get her back again
– instrumental –
But Mandolin Ben has my sweet Madelyn
And I can’t give in until I get her back again
Doggone that Mandolin Ben…
Wonder if he gives refunds
Love Came And Went (Larry W. Jones 06/28/2007) (song#4749)
For all intent, love came and went
Just like a passing summer song
But dear, your memory, for all intent
Has stayed here with me all along
When you were here, our love was strong
Back then dear, you didn’t intend to go
For all intent, love came and went
But I intend to see if new love can grow
– instrumental –
When you were here, our love was strong
Back then dear, you didn’t intend to go
For all intent, love came and went
But I intend to see if new love can grow
We were in love once and we can be again
If you will open your heart and let me in
For all intent, love came and went
But I intend to see if your heart I can win
For all intent, love came and went
But I intend to see if your heart I can win
Road To Nowhere (Larry W. Jones 06/29/2007) (song#4750)
There’s a road to nowhere down in Texas
That’s been there longer than her memory
It’s the road that leads to where my ex is
But the end of the road is nowhere I can see
I’m adjustin’ my load while waitin’ for a diesel freight
But the map don’t show that this road is an interstate
I’ll be thummin’ along as long as her mem’ry lasts
I might be hummin’ this song until the day that I die
Cause on the road to nowhere is where the die is cast
I’m trav’lin’ this road where many lost loves have been
And I know I’m one because I’m headed for nowhere again
This old road has a shoulder but it sure seems colder
I know it’s just a dream that I will ever hold ‘er again
– instrumental –
There’s a road to nowhere down in Texas
That’s been there longer than her memory
It’s the road that leads to where my ex is
But the end of the road is nowhere I can see
I’m trav’lin’ this road where many lost loves have been
And I know I’m one because I’m headed for nowhere again
This old road has a shoulder but it sure seems colder
I know it’s just a dream that I will ever hold ‘er again
I’m on the road to nowhere down in Texas, my friend
Under This Texan Stetson Hat (Larry W. Jones 06/30/2007) (song#4751)
I’m the kind of cowboy who always wanted to be free
But darlin’, you brought joy to this crazy heart in me
A new song I’m singin’, bein’ free ain’t where it’s at
Cause there’s a new love under this Texan Stetson hat
Under this Texan Stetson hat is a new love that I’ve found
My freedom you have plundered and turned my heart around
Under this Texan Stetson hat are arms with hands to hold you
Darlin’, put out the welcome mat, they demand to enfold you
Every night I’ll thank the moon and stars and things like that
That you brought love to a cowboy under this Texan Stetson hat
– instrumental –
Under this Texan Stetson hat are arms with hands to hold you
Darlin’, put out the welcome mat, they demand to enfold you
Every night I’ll thank the moon and stars and things like that
That you brought love to a cowboy under this Texan Stetson hat
Darlin’, I don’t care about all that freedom I had in the past
Now, all this cowboy’s lookin’ for is a true love that will last
So, if you’re lookin’ for true love too, then let me come to bat
Because you’ve won the game of love under this Texan Stetson hat
So, if you’re lookin’ for true love too, then let me come to bat
Because you’ve won the game of love under this Texan Stetson hat
Sunrise Side Of The Great Divide (Larry W. Jones 07/01/2007) (song#4752)
Out west there lived a cowboy looking for a cowgirl bride
They never met so there was no hope of vows exchanged
The cowgirl lived on the sunrise side of the Great Divide
And the cowboy lived on the western slope of the range
No, they never did meet so as to be greeted with a kiss
How could life be complete without the treat of happiness
The cowgirl lived on the sunrise side of the Great Divide
And the cowboy lived on the western slope of the range
A mountain rose is a flower that only grows
From the power that flows from morning dew
And every cowboy Jack and every cowgirl Jill
Must wait until there comes a love that’s true
– instrumental –
A mountain rose is a flower that only grows
From the power that flows from morning dew
And every cowboy Jack and every cowgirl Jill
Must wait until there comes a love that’s true
Will there ever be a way to find love that’s denied
To meet some day to make this story change
For you live on the sunrise side of the Great Divide
And I live on the western slope of the range
For you live on the sunrise side of the Great Divide
And I live on the western slope of the range
Hobos Found Dixie Bound (Larry W. Jones 07/01/2007) (song#4753)
Slow freight train rollin’
Makin’ a drowsy sound
In the boxcars sleepin’
Are hobos Dixie bound
Wobblin’, rockin’, rollin’
Freight train on its way
Hobos found Dixie bound
Down to Mobile Bay
Engineer at the throttle
Conductor in the caboose
Hobos sharin’ a bottle
Tryin’ to take a snooze
Wobblin’, rockin’, rollin’
Freight train on its way
Hobos found Dixie bound
Down to Mobile Bay
No more cold and rain
Past the Mason Dixon line
Hobos goin’ home again
Where Dixie sun will shine
Wobblin’, rockin’, rollin’
Freight train on its way
Hobos found Dixie bound
Down to Mobile Bay
Dixie has the sunshine
No more skies of grey
Hobos on the Dixie line
Sleepin’ in the hay
Wobblin’, rockin’, rollin’
Freight train on its way
Hobos found Dixie bound
Down to Mobile Bay
Wobblin’, rockin’, rollin’
Freight train on its way
Hobos found Dixie bound
Down to Mobile Bay
Lone Star State (Larry W. Jones 07/03/2007) (song#4754)
My heart aches for that Lone Star State country
That place where braggin’ is great country
That best cowboy and cowgirl heaven of all
I won’t rest til I get there
I’ll attest that it’s beyond compare
It’s not just a small country
It’s Texas, where folks and their tales stand tall
Well, when my darlin’ Lulu Belle
Plays on my heart strings, I can tell
That she makes my heart sing so well
So, I’m not gonna hesitate
To get back to that Lone Star State country
That’s where I’m gonna be
Cause Texas is that Lone Star State for me
– instrumental –
I won’t rest til I get there
I’ll attest that it’s beyond compare
It’s not just a small country
It’s Texas, where folks and their tales stand tall
Well, when my darlin’ Lulu Belle
Plays on my heart strings, I can tell
That she makes my heart sing so well
So, I’m not gonna hesitate
To get back to that Lone Star State country
That’s where I’m gonna be
Cause Texas is that Lone Star State for me
Pardner, Texas is that Lone Star State for me
Along The Twilight Trail (Larry W. Jones 07/03/2007) (song#4755)
(Riding through the twilight, riding along the trail)
We were riding along the twilight trail
I could hear the prairie breezes singing
They seemed to tell
Love to your heart she’s bringing
While the moon is pale
As the prairie breezes sang of love along the twilight trail
(We were riding along the twilight trail)
(I could hear the prairie breezes singing)
(They seemed to tell)
Love to your heart she’s bringing
While the moon is pale
(As the prairie breezes sang of love along the twilight trail)
We were riding along the twilight trail
I could hear the prairie breezes singing
They seemed to tell
Love to your heart she’s bringing (Love to your heart she’s bringing)
While the moon is pale
(As the prairie breezes sang of love along the twilight trail)
(Along the twilight trail)
Smokin’ And Rollin’ On (Larry W. Jones 07/04/2007) (song#4756)
Brake pads smokin’, black wheels rollin’
Smokin’ and rollin’ on
Brake pads smokin’, downgrade’s got them black wheels pokin’
Smokin’ and rollin’
Smokin’ and rollin’ on
That white dotted line outlines the nation
Truck drivers all know what they’re facin’
They’re just gypsies smokin’ down the road
With a heavy load
Smokin’ and rollin’ on
– instrumental –
That white dotted line outlines the nation
Truck drivers all know what they’re facin’
They’re just gypsies smokin’ down the road
With a heavy load
Smokin’ and rollin’ on
Gear jammin’, just tryin’ the best one to find
Truck drivers become accustomed to the grind
Whether makin’ speed or downshiftin’ for inclines
Truck drivers pull the load and hate to get behind
Brake pads smokin’, black wheels rollin’
Smokin’ and rollin’ on
Smokin’ and rollin’ on
Smokin’ and rollin’ on
Mr. Texas Sun (Larry W. Jones 07/04/2007) (song#4757)
The Texas sun is shinin’ bright
I don’t see one single cloud in sight
Yesterday the sky was rainin’
But today the sun’s come out to play
There’s no need for explainin’
The Texas sun makes for a pretty day
Just bein’ outside is such a treat
Stayin’ inside was such a pity
Folks from Texas can take the heat
In the countryside or in the city
The Texas sun is shinin’ bright today
Mr. Texas Sun, where have you been
Please don’t stay away so long again
Don’t treat us wrong, shine on strong
Mr. Texas Sun, now stay out and play
Howdy, Mr. Texas Sun
We’re mighty pleased to see you shining through
Honey bees, flowers and trees all like what you do
So beguiling, everybody’s smiling because of you
Howdy, you with the brightest face
The human race could not replace
All the fun we have under the sun
Mr. Texas Sun, we got tired of waitin’
For you to get fired up over Texas
Mr. Texas Sun, where have you been
Please don’t stay away so long again
Don’t treat us wrong, shine on strong
Mr. Texas Sun, now stay out and play
Mr. Texas Sun, you came at the right time
But soon the moon will bring light sublime
Don’t look now, but she’s lookin’ you over
Mr. Texas Sun, we know that you’re a rover
Now, come on back tomorrow and be on time
Mister Broken Heart (Larry W. Jones 07/04/2007) (song#4758)
Mister Broken Heart came around tonight
We went to every honky tonk in town
Ever since your depart, Mister Broken Heart
Has hung around without a sound
Mister Broken Heart is not good company
What good does it do to tell him you weren’t true
Mister Broken Heart said he has an ache
So I told him, make no mistake, brother I do too
He hangs around all the time
With pangs of distress
He wants to be a friend of mine
Even share my address
– instrumental –
Mister Broken Heart is not good company
What good does it do to tell him you weren’t true
Mister Broken Heart said he has an ache
So I told him, make no mistake, brother I do too
(Mister Broken Heart, Mister Broken Heart)
Mister Broken Heart said he has an ache
So I told him, make no mistake, brother I do too
He hangs around all the time
With pangs of distress
He wants to be a friend of mine
Even share my address
– instrumental –
Mister Broken Heart is not good company
What good does it do to tell him you weren’t true
Mister Broken Heart said he has an ache
So I told him, make no mistake, brother I do too
(Mister Broken Heart, Mister Broken Heart)
Make no mistake, brother mine’s broken too
The Prairie Moon Came Calling (Larry W. Jones 07/04/2007) (song#4759)
Last night the prairie moon came calling
Golden beams soon fell as twilight came falling
Stardust from Tinker Bell was sprinkled in the sky
I tied my pony so that I
Could build a campfire and watch the sparks fly high
Oh, the scene made my heart feel mellow
Yellow moon, lone cowboy, a happy fellow
I sat there and thought about my situation
Most folks never get such compensation
It was a magic sight, all the world was right
When the prairie moon came calling last night
– instrumental –
Last night the prairie moon came calling
Golden beams soon fell as twilight came falling
Oh, the scene made my heart feel mellow
Yellow moon, lone cowboy, a happy fellow
I sat there and thought about my situation
I wrote down some words in my mind
And it occurred that some would rhyme
About a prairie moon that came calling last night
Hillbillie Honey From Houston (Larry W. Jones 07/05/2007) (song#4760)
Now, gather ’round boys, and let me tell you
Bout a gal who steals the show
She’s my Hillbillie Honey and I love her so
Her name is Billie, spelled with an ie on the end
She’s my Hillbillie Honey from Houston, my friend
She likes to play the honky tonks on Friday nights
She sings that song like Willie Nelson does
Bout Blue Eyes Cryin’ in The Rain
And when she does, the place is set abuzz
She’s my Hillbillie Honey from Houston, it’s plain
She ain’t no plain Jane routine girl, by far
She’s a cowgirl who plays a real mean guitar
She sings that song that Hank Williams did
Bout Hey Good Lookin’ What You Got Cookin’
She’s my Hillbillie Honey from Houston kid
Now, when she does the Texas two step
My sweet Billie just can’t be beat
The cowboys in the honky tonk can’t help
But be swept right off their feet
She’s my Hillbillie Honey from Houston, yep
She sings that song like Willie Nelson does
Bout Blue Eyes Cryin’ in The Rain
She sings that song that Hank Williams did
Bout Hey Good Lookin’ What You Got Cookin’
She’s my Hillbillie Honey from Houston
My Hillbillie Honey from Houston, it’s plain
She’s my Hillbillie Honey from Houston kid
Oh, yeah
Oh My Loneliness (Larry W. Jones 07/05/2007) (song#4761)
Twilight shadows bring the blues
When everything you have, you lose
And I lost everything with you
Oh, my loneliness
Now I spend each day remembering
The happiness your kiss would bring
How did it all come to this
Oh, my loneliness
The moon still shines its golden beams
But what’s the use when there’s no dreams
I’ll never have your love again
My dreams were all in vain
Blue skies of yesterday turned grey
Now that you have gone away
How I miss your sweet caress
Oh, my loneliness
– instrumental –
The moon still shines its golden beams
But what’s the use when there’s no dreams
I’ll never have your love again
My dreams were all in vain
Blue skies of yesterday turned grey
Now that you have gone away
How I miss your sweet caress
Oh, my loneliness
My Rose Of South Padre Isle (Larry W. Jones 07/05/2007) (song#4762)
Breezes warm and fair, flowers everywhere
Fragrance off the bay fills the balmy air
There senoritas are, dancing to Mexican guitars
Calling me back from afar
Majestic palm trees sway, acrobatic birds at play
Love songs are sung there all the while
One day I must return to a lovely rose
My rose of South Padre Isle
When I watch the twilight fade
Then as the stars go on parade
I long for the sand of my Mexican maid
And there comes from the Gulf of Mexico
A vision that seems from long ago
And when I dream, I hear, it seems
A voice calling more and more
For me to return to that fair shore
Where songs of love will be sung forevermore
With each breeze I linger for awhile
With my rose of South Padre Isle
Like a flower fair, she is blooming there
As to me her memory flows
And as the chill of Winter grows
To her charms I go to seek repose awhile
In the arms of my rose of South Padre Isle
Three Of Us Who Love You (Larry W. Jones 07/05/2007) (song#4763)
Darling, there are three of us who love you
Me, myself and I
What we say is true, there’s none above you
We wouldn’t tell a lie
Darling, when you’re far away, we shed a tear
And we wait impatiently for the day you’re near
Now, we know some folks say that love is blind
That passion rules only when fools pass by
But darling, we all hope you never say goodbye
We could never cope, for we three would die
Me, myself and I
Darling, all three of us have waited for a lifetime
For a dream like you to come true
You’re that once in a lifetime, and sometimes never
That came along the day that I met you
Darling, when you first kissed me, I knew
Wonderful enchantment came to hold me
Something no one ever came and told me
All my life I have waited for you
Now that you’re here, the sun is shining through
Dear, my heart is yours with words unspoken
All I ask is that you never leave it broken
– instrumental –
Darling, there are three of us who love you
Me, myself and I
What we say is true, there’s none above you
We wouldn’t tell a lie
Darling, when you’re far away, we shed a tear
And we wait impatiently for the day you’re near
Now, we know some folks say that love is blind
That passion rules only when fools pass by
But darling, we all hope you never say goodbye
We could never cope, for we three would die
Me, myself and I
All My Love Belongs To Mandy (Larry W. Jones 07/05/2007) (song#4764)
I used to run around with any cowgirl I found
But now I’m down to the best cowgirl around
While riding a wild bronc in a rodeo
Cowgirls smile and think I’m dandy
But after the show, I just tell them No
Cause all my love belongs to Mandy
When I go to a honky tonk at night
Some want to dance because I’m handy
They look cute in their cowgirl boots
But all my love belongs to Mandy
Yes, all my love belongs to Mandy
I simply could never treat her bad
Yes, all my love belongs to Mandy
She’s the best cowgirl I’ve ever had
Some cowgirls think my heart is made of wood
But all my love belongs to Mandy
Mandy treats me like a good cowgirl should
– instrumental –
I saw cowgirls at a baseball game
They all looked as sweet as candy
But on my heart they won’t lay claim
Cause all my love belongs to Mandy
Yes, all my love belongs to Mandy
I simply could never treat her bad
Yes, all my love belongs to Mandy
She’s the best cowgirl I’ve ever had
Some cowgirls think my heart is made of wood
But all my love belongs to Mandy
Mandy treats me like a good cowgirl should
That’s why all my love belongs to Mandy
My World Depends On You (Larry W. Jones 07/05/2007) (song#4765)
(My world depends on you)
(Blends with you, ends with you)
(And my friends still ask of you)
(Darling, please return to me)
I’ve searched in Amarillo
Asked everyone I knew
Even asked the weeping willow
Who said he missed you too
My world depends on you
Blends with you, ends with you
And my friends still ask of you
Darling, please return to me
– instrumental –
Words were spoken that were thoughtless
Dear, I was wrong, now I confess
Only you can end this sadness
Return to me and and fill this loneliness
My world depends on you (depends on you)
Blends with you, ends with you (ends with you)
And my friends still ask of you (still ask of you)
Darling, please return to me
Please return to me
Darling, please return to me
My Heart Is In Texas (Larry W. Jones 07/06/2007) (song#4766)
In New York’s Greenwich Village, I met an old man
He wore old cowboy boots and a bolo tie band
He said his folks were from Texas and had their own brand
I shook his hand though I did not understand
He said, my heart is in Texas, where it always will be
Rodeos and longhorn cattle trails I hear calling to me
I’ve spent most of my life in Greenwich Village
But my heart is in Texas, I hear Texas calling to me
Up in windy Chicago, I stopped in a little cafe
The waitress was smiling, and I heard her say
My folks are from Texas and I hope that one day
I’ll leave this windy city, head south to Texas to stay
– instrumental –
He said, my heart is in Texas, where it always will be
Rodeos and longhorn cattle trails I hear calling to me
Up in windy Chicago, I stopped in a little cafe
The waitress was smiling, and I heard her say
My folks are from Texas and I hope that one day
I’ll leave this windy city, head south to Texas to stay
As I went through the country, big cities and small towns
I met many lost Texans in every place that I found
And in bars with guitars, so they wouldn’t feel alone
I sang to them songs about Texas and old San Antone
Like A Timepiece (Larry W. Jones 07/06/2007) (song#4767)
Dear, my heart has been broken
Ending our love’s lease
Like a timepiece that was dropped
Life has all but ceased
I thought everything was running fine
And that our love would last awhile
But like a watch that’s out of time
Your love stopped and I’m out of style
Now every second drags into an hour
And I’m in rags at the end of every day
Oh, the minute hand is running down
Cause love’s not in it or even around
And the hour hand can’t understand
Why every second it should be wound
– instrumental –
I thought everything was running fine
And that our love would last awhile
But like a watch that’s out of time
Your love stopped and I’m out of style
Now every second drags into an hour
And I’m in rags at the end of every day
The only way my heart can be repaired
Is to have someone like you who cared before
Darling, I need true love, not a token
To keep my heart from being broken evermore
My Heart Is Yours Alone (Larry W. Jones 07/06/2007) (song#4768)
Dear, my heart is yours alone
For it was never made of stone
My heart’s embrace you have won
Like a race that’s easily run
Dear, if I could sing a beautiful song
It would be of love that can’t go wrong
Just as dutiful as the heavenly sun
Our heavenly love has just begun
My dear, wherever I may be
I will always feel you near
My heart gladly knows defeat
As I madly lay it at your feet
– instrumental –
Yours alone, yours alone
Darling, it sounds so wonderous
Yours alone, yours alone
True love has found the two of us
Dear, my heart is yours alone
For it was never made of stone
My heart’s embrace you have won
Like a race that’s easily run
Dear, if I could sing a beautiful song
It would be of love that can’t go wrong
Just as dutiful as the heavenly sun
Our heavenly love has just begun
Texas Honky Tonk Music (Larry W. Jones 07/06/2007) (song#4769)
When I hear that Texas honky tonk music
Darlin’, that’s your favorite kind of music
Texas honky tonk music reminds me of you
When I hear that old San Antonio Rose
Darlin’, that’s your favorite kind of rose
Texas honky tonk music reminds me of you
If I couldn’t hear that Texas honky tonk music
If I couldn’t hear that old San Antonio Rose
That reminds me of romance like sweet dreams do
Darlin’, I still could not forget you
And in my sweet dreaming, I suppose
I’d still be dancing in these honky tonk boots with you
– instrumental –
When I hear that old San Antonio Rose
Darlin’, that’s your favorite kind of rose
Texas honky tonk music reminds me of you
If I couldn’t hear that Texas honky tonk music
If I couldn’t hear that old San Antonio Rose

When I Took A Look At You (Larry W. Jones 07/06/2007) (song#4770)
Sweetheart, when I took a look at you
My heart didn’t know what to do
But I’m glad it started beating after it stood still
My cowboy boots took steps and walked
My lips said Howdy and they still talked
But my heart didn’t know what to do, it stood still
I couldn’t remember the words we spoke
But I remember what happened to this cowpoke
I held your hand in mine and felt the thrill
But my heart didn’t know what to do, it stood still
– instrumental –
Sweetheart, when I took a look at you
My heart didn’t know what to do
But I’m glad it started beating after it stood still
I couldn’t remember the words we spoke
But I remember what happened to this cowpoke
I held your hand in mine and felt the thrill
But my heart didn’t know what to do, it stood still
When I took a look at you
Sweetheart, when I took a look at you
My Poor Heart Is Trusting In You (Larry W. Jones 07/06/2007) (song#4771)
Darling, you have made my heart sing
You say that you will be my everything
I hope this isn’t just another fling
Darling, do you hear what I’m saying
I hope you’re not just playing with my heart
Please don’t make my heart cry again
Cause if you do, it would die again
Darling, tell me you will see this through
Your sweet lips I want to kiss again
Don’t tell me lies like this again
Darling, my poor heart is trusting in you
– instrumental –
Darling, you have made my heart sing
You say that you will be my everything
I hope this isn’t just another fling
Please don’t make my heart cry again
Cause if you do, it would die again
Darling, tell me you will see this through
Your sweet lips I want to kiss again
Don’t tell me lies like this again
Darling, my poor heart is trusting in you
Your sweet lips I want to kiss again
Don’t tell me lies like this again
Darling, my poor heart is trusting in you
Salt Of The Earth (Larry W. Jones 07/06/2007) (song#4772)
You have given me what should come to everyone
You’re the salt of the earth as far as I can see
You’re my velvet twilight falling, my morning sun
And you have preserved our love for all eternity
Someone divine looked down and then saw after me
He must have looked around and saw the flaw in me
I didn’t have someone to love that anyone could see
Until He saw that your heart and mine would agree
– instrumental –
I didn’t have someone to love that anyone could see
Until He saw that your heart and mine would agree
Now, our kids are grown and on their on, I see
We both taught them what it means to love naturally
And if anybody ever asks how we are, you and me
I’ll tell them how we are in love and will always be
Someone divine looked down and then saw after me
He must have looked around and saw the flaw in me
I didn’t have someone to love that anyone could see
Until He saw that your heart and mine would agree
You’re the salt of the earth as far as I can see
– instrumental out –
None Of My Heroes Have Ever Been Cowboys (Larry W. Jones 07/06/2007) (song#4773)
Waylon and Willie dreamed of being a cowboy
They loved those cowboy ways
They pursued the life of their high-riding heroes
And they burned up their childhood days
They broke all the rules like a modern day drifter
And nothing could hold them too long
They took what they wanted then left all the cowgirls
With the words of a sad country song
Well, none of my heroes have ever been cowboys
Cause cowboys aren’t what they seem
They’re always in search of, and one step in back of
Themselves and their fast moving dreams
Modern day cowboys ain’t nothin’ special
Their brand of misery is being alone
They’ll die from the cold in the arms of a nightmare
Cause their best days have all been long gone
A yesterday’s looker, now just a has-been
They rode the trail that took youth away
Their old worn out saddles and old worn out mem’ries
Are all that is left for Waylon and Willie today
Well, none of my heroes have ever been cowboys
Cause cowboys aren’t what they seem
They’re always in search of, and one step in back of
Themselves and their fast moving dreams
Mister Steel Guitar Man (Larry W. Jones 07/08/2007) (song#4774)
Please, Mister Steel Guitar Man
Slide your steel for me
I’m not feeling well and I need your company
Please, Mister Steel Guitar Man
Slide your steel for me
I want to hear your cryin’ steel guitar
Cause my heart is cryin’ just like you
Let me travel on your steel guitar sound
To where only the lonely can be found
To where there’s no true love around
To where broken hearts abound
Please, Mister Steel Guitar Man
Do what you can for me
I’ve given up on love
There’s none for me thereof
When it came to push and shove
There was no appeal
My heart will never heal
So slide your steel for me
Please, Mister Steel Guitar Man
Slide your steel for me
I’m not feeling well and I need your company
Please, Mister Steel Guitar Man
Slide your steel for me
I want to hear your cryin’ steel guitar
Cause my heart is cryin’ just like you
Please, Mister Steel Guitar Man
Do what you can for me
Best Muleskinner (Larry W. Jones 07/11/2007) (song#4775)
Well, good mornin’, mister captain
Are you lookin’ for a winner
Well, watch the best muleskinner shine
Out there on your new mud line
Ha, ha, hee, hee, hee, hee
Well, I’m the best muleskinner
From east Texas to this very day
Captain, I can earn my dinner
Before I even draw my pay
Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha
Hee, hee, hee, hee, hee, ha, ha
Well hey, hey …
Now, I know how to work a mule
With this old bullwhip of mine
I can brand my name real cool
On any stubborn mule’s behind
Hey there, now little water boy
Bring your water bucket ’round
Well hey, hey …
And if you don’t like you job
Throw that buck, buck, bucket down
Hey, hey
– instrumental –
Well, I’m the best muleskinner
From east Texas to this very day
Captain, I can earn my dinner
Before I even draw my pay
Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha
Hee, hee, hee, hee, hee, ha, ha
Well hey, hey …
Now, I know how to work a mule
With this old bullwhip of mine
I can brand my name real cool
On any stubborn mule’s behind
Well, I’m the best muleskinner
Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha
Hee, hee, hee, hee, hee, ha, ha
Well hey, hey …
Real Country Music (Larry W. Jones 07/11/2007) (song#4776)
Real country music was my first love
Those country songs from yesteryear
Real country music was my first love
Much better than the music I now hear
Real country music talked of trouble
And of love that was true
Today’s music is mostly just rubble
Nothing I want to pursue
Real country music was my first love
Those country songs from yesteryear
Real country music was my first love
Much better than the music I now hear
– instrumental –
Whatever happened to Roy Acuff
And those Sons of the Pioneers
Well, I still can’t get enough
Of real country music in my ears
I want to hear Jimmie Rodgers yodel
Earnest Tubb, the Texas troubadour
Their music had a real country modal
With a real country musical score
Real country music was my first love
Those country songs from yesteryear
Real country music was my first love
Those country songs from yesteryear
Those country songs from yesteryear
Those country songs from yesteryear
Singing Cowboy Of Renown (Larry W. Jones 07/11/2007) (song#4777)
In me you see a singing cowboy
And never may that be a crime
I strum my guitar under the stars
To my pony’s syncopated time
I sing cowboy songs with dignity
It helps me with my cowboy poise
All the cowgirls say, hot digity
Though my pony thinks it’s noise
I make cowboy music, yes I do
I make cowboy music cause cowboy music’s what I do
I make cowboy music, I’m tellin’ you
I make cowboy music cause I’m cowboy through and through
My cowboy music is something I brag about
When I drag my saddle bags about town
With cowboy music I’m driven, and sometimes forgiven
One day I’ll be a singing cowboy of renown
– instrumental –
I sing cowboy songs with dignity
It helps me with my cowboy poise
All the cowgirls say, hot digity
Though my pony thinks it’s noise
My cowboy music is something I brag about
When I drag my saddle bags about town

One day I’ll be a singing cowboy of renown
My Darlin’ Don’t Care For Me (Larry W. Jones 07/11/2007) (song#4778)
Well, my darlin’ only cares for rodeos
And my darlin’ only cares for cowgirl clothes
But my darlin’ don’t care for me
My darlin’ only cares for barrel races
She’s always where the number one place is
Patsy Montana is just her style
And Patsy Cline is in her smile
But if I’m in her mind, I don’t know it
Cause for some reason, she don’t show it
My darlin’ don’t care for me
– instrumental –
My darlin’ only cares for barrel races
She’s always where the number one place is
Patsy Montana is just her style
And Patsy Cline is in her smile
But if I’m in her mind, I don’t know it
Cause for some reason, she don’t show it
My darlin’ don’t care for me
Now, what’s the matter with me darlin’
You shatter my dreams, don’t you see
What else is love there for
If not to care for
But my darlin’ don’t care for
My darlin’ don’t care for me
Whippoorwill (Larry W. Jones 07/12/2007) (song#4779)
Autumn time is coming, poor lonesome bird
Your song from the prairie I hear
Up on the hill, saddest song I ever heard
When the wind is laying very still
My darling’s been gone so very, very long
To someplace that I’ll never see
Go fly now to her with your lonesome song
Tell my darlin’ to return to me
Whippoorwill, whippoorwill
Can you tell me if my darling’s still true
Whippoorwill, whippoorwill
Tell her that I’m just as lonesome as you
Whippoorwill, is she still thinking of me
And of those vows she made so long ago
She’s gone to someplace I’ll never see
Whippoorwill, time is dragging on slow
My darling’s been gone so very, very long
To someplace that I’ll never see
Go fly now to her with your lonesome song
Tell my darlin’ to return to me
Around her finger I placed a diamond ring
On the day she was leaving to roam
She promised to return and her love bring
Back to me in my little cabin home
My darling’s been gone so very, very long
To someplace that I’ll never see
Go fly now to her with your lonesome song
Tell my darlin’ to return to me
Whippoorwill, whippoorwill
Can you tell me if my darling’s still true
Whippoorwill, whippoorwill
Tell her that I’m just as lonesome as you
There’s A Full Moon Above My Shoulder (Larry W. Jones 07/12/2007) (song#4780)
There’s a full moon above my shoulder
And an empty feeling down in my heart
The days are now getting colder
Now that you and I, dear, are far apart
You went away ,It was in the month of June
And you promised that you would return soon
I’ve waited so patiently for many a full moon,
With an empty feeling down in my heart
There’s a full moon above my shoulder
And an empty feeling down in my heart
There’s a full moon above my shoulder
And an empty feeling down in my heart
– instrumental –
I feel my dreams are now getting older
And I wonder if you will do your part
Will you return, dear, or will you decline
My heart burns, dear, for you to be mine
There’s a full moon above my shoulder
And an empty feeling down in my heart
There’s a full moon above my shoulder
And an empty feeling down in my heart
San Antonio Rose (Larry W. Jones 07/13/2007) (song#4781)
Listen cowboys, while I sing a Texas song
Of a flower that’s above all the rest
Sweeter to me than a honey bee
She’s the Texas love that I love best
There’s no other girl like her, near or far
And there never will be, I suppose
She’s the best girl by far, under the Texas star
She’s my San Antonio Rose
My San Antonio Rose
Every flower in Texas knows
That you may search anywhere
And never find one to compare
With my San Antonio Rose
My San Antonio Rose
Sweetest Texas flower that grows
Some sweet day I will hear
A voice that tells me, dear
I will be your San Antonio Rose
– instrumental –
My San Antonio Rose
Every flower in Texas knows
That you may search anywhere
And never find one to compare
With my San Antonio Rose
My San Antonio Rose
Sweetest Texas flower that grows
Some sweet day I will hear
A voice that tells me, dear
I will be your San Antonio Rose
Someone Else For You (Larry W. Jones 07/13/2007) (song#4782)
There will always be someone else for you
Never ever me, you couldn’t see, love that would be so true
You can take your pick of all the guys you’ve ever known
Why can’t you come and pick me out to be your very own
There will always be someone else for you
Never ever me, you couldn’t see, love that would be so true
My heart is true and will long for you as long as I will live
Though my dream of you will ne’er be true, darling I forgive
There will always be someone else for you
Never ever me, you couldn’t see, love that would be so true
Never will I know the thrill of kissing you
Though we will never be together, I wonder as to whether
Whether you will ever know how much I’m missing you
I could pray each day that there be a way
That my dream of you might come true
But I’m afraid the price that’s paid for a lovesick fool is due
There will always be someone else for you
There will always be someone else for you
Never ever me, you couldn’t see, love that would be so true
Love that would be so true
Chica Fandango (Larry W. Jones 07/14/2007) (song#4783)
Down along the Rio Grande
One night I heard a mariachi band
Playing music soft and slow
There I met a pretty senorita
We shared more than one margarita
She whispered amore soft and low
In a little cantina we danced the time away
Her eyes held no disguise as the music played
But I told her beneath the moonlight glow
I had to ride away that night from the Rio
I tried to kiss away her tears
But only crying filled my ears
As the band played the Chica Fandango
– instrumental –
In a little cantina we danced the time away
Her eyes held no disguise as the music played
But I told her beneath the moonlight glow
I had to ride away that night from the Rio
I tried to kiss away her tears
But only crying filled my ears

Don’t Plan to Marry A Cowboy (Larry W. Jones 07/17/2007) (song#4784)
Cowgirls, if you’ve had your heart broken more than twice
If your token love life has paid the price
Then listen to this age old spoken advice
Don’t plan to marry a cowboy
Such a man won’t bring you any joy
His heart is at some rodeo, Oh, no, no, no
Don’t you cowgirls fall in love with a cowboy
Try to forget that kind of man
You’ll be better off if you can
Don’t plan to marry a cowboy
– instrumental –
Cowgirls, have you been lonely and sad
Have you lost a dream that you had
Then listen to my words and be glad
Don’t plan to marry a cowboy
Such a man won’t bring you any joy
His heart is at some rodeo, Oh, no, no, no
Don’t you cowgirls fall in love with a cowboy
Try to forget that kind of man
You’ll be better off if you can
Don’t plan to marry a cowboy
Darlin’ Sweethearts Forevermore (Larry W. Jones 07/28/2007) (song#4785)
(Him)
Darlin’, do you want a cowboy who’s willing
Someone who finds a cowgirl like you thrilling
Who’ll come ridin’ home when the branding’s done
A cowboy who’ll be glad to raise our cowboy son
(Her)
Cowboy, I want two strong arms to hold me, namely yours
Someone with western charms who does his chores
Someone who’s bold but tender and will render love that’s true
Sweetheart, I want a cowboy just like you
– instrumental –
(Him)
Darlin’, do you want a cowboy who’s willing
Someone who finds a cowgirl like you thrilling
(Her)
Cowboy, I want two strong arms to hold me, namely yours
Someone with western charms who does his chores
(Him) Darlin’, I’m the cowboy that you’re waiting for
(Her) Sweetheart, you’re the cowboy I adore
(Him) Darlin’, do you want a cowboy who’s willing
(Her) Someone who finds a cowgirl like me thrilling
(Both) Then let’s be darlin’ sweethearts forevermore
Someone You’ll Never Know (Larry W. Jones 07/29/2007) (song#4786)
There’s a photograph that I still hold
Of someone beside me from long ago
And when friends ask whom they behold
I just say it’s someone you’ll never know
You’ll never know someone I left my heart with
You’ll never know someone whose photograph I show
And when friends ask if it’s true or just a myth
I just say it’s someone you’ll never know
– instrumental –
You’ll never know someone I left my heart with
You’ll never know someone whose photograph I show
And when friends ask if it’s true or just a myth
I just say it’s someone you’ll never know
You’ll never know someone I shared my dreams with
You’ll never know someone whose love was only show
And when friends ask why and wherewith
I just say it’s someone you’ll never know
I just say it’s someone….
Someone you’ll never know
Once In A Million Years (Larry W. Jones 07/29/2007) (song#4787)
Once in a million years
Someone like you, dear, comes along
Once in a million years
The world drums to a cheerful song
Once in a million Junes
A beam of love is cast
Light from a million moons
For love that will ever last
Once there was no world for me
Love had never played its part
Now, where you are, I want to be
Never will you fade from my heart
Once in a million love stories
Darling, a dream like you appears
Search all books inventories
Look where you will, none can thrill
Like you, dear, in a million years
When I first beheld you
I saw a world of prettiness
I was compelled to love you
And you ended my emptiness
Darling, if you ever wonder
Why it is I love you so
It’s because I fell under
The spell that you bestow
Once in a million love stories
Darling, a dream like you appears
Search all books inventories
Look where you will, none can thrill
Like you, dear, in a million years
Somewhere In Tomorrowland (Larry W. Jones 07/29/2007) (song#4788)
I wish I knew where dreams are born
And the time that they are planned
I’ve never seen it drawn upon a chart
And it seems to not be in my heart
It must be somewhere in Tomorrowland
I’ve searched the stars beyond the moon
And the ground here where I stand
I’ve had an open mind for every tune
Of love that’s sung by every band
I’ve looked back at yesterday and I must say
It must be somewhere in Tomorrowland
They say there’s treasure in array there
And love is more than dreams of gold
But I have never found my way there
And now I know I’m growing old
I wish I knew where dreams are born
And the time that they are planned
If I keep thinking of such things
I may feel love’s touch of angel’s wings
Somewhere in Tomorrowland
Never Hit A Horse (Larry W. Jones 07/29/2007) (song#4789)
Never hit a horse
He might bite his bit, of course
And that wouldn’t be right a bit
Just like you don’t do right by me
Never slap a bull
With a leather strap that’s full
Of things that tear and pull
Just like you tore this heart from me
Never brand a cow
With a hand that disavows
How it always hurts
To know that you don’t understand
That a cowgirl who flirts
Just handed a broken dream to me
– instrumental –
Never kick a dog
You might put him in a fog
He might hide in a hollow log
And that’s just where you might find me
Never hit a horse
He might bite his bit, of course
And that wouldn’t be right a bit
Just like you don’t do right by me
Now darlin’, don’t you know, of course
You don’t do right by me
Born To Ride The Lonesome Trail (Larry W. Jones 07/30/2007) (song#4790)
Never will I settle down
Never will I hang around
Born to ride the path that’s lonesome
Wide is the prairie, narrow is the vale
Never will I settle down
Born to ride the lonesome trail
No heavy load to bear
No rough road to give me care
Though my saddle’s worn
No lost love to mourn
Born to ride the path that’s lonesome
Wide is the prairie, narrow is the vale
Never will I settle down
Born to ride the lonesome trail
– instrumental –
No heavy load to bear
No rough road to give me care
Though my saddle’s worn
No lost love to mourn
Born to ride the path that’s lonesome
Wide is the prairie, narrow is the vale
Never will I settle down
Born to ride the lonesome trail
Brand New Stetson Blues (Larry W. Jones 07/30/2007) (song#4791)
Here’s some sad news darlin’, and you’re the first to know
Yeah, here’s some sad news darlin’, and you’re the first to know
I’ve got a brand new Stetson hat and it’s about to blow
Well, I’ve been shakin’ in my boots and can’t remember where I’ve tread
Yeah, I’ve been shakin’ in my boots and can’t remember where I’ve tread
I feel like I’m losin’ ground cause I can’t get ahead
Well, I used to be a hero
I dressed in John Wayne style
Now, I’m walking down Skid Row
And I can’t even wear a smile
I see lots of pretty cowgirls
Though none of them now care
All they want is gold and pearls
And my Levi pockets are all bare
I’m a cowboy who can’t lose
These brand new Stetson blues
Yesterday I was six feet tall, today I’m four foot ten
I can’t even mount my horse without falling down again
I went to a rodeo but the bright lights made me blind
I woke up somewhere this morning with no friend to find
I’m a cowboy who can’t lose these brand new Stetson blues
I went to a honky tonk last night, met my darlin’ at the door
Yeah, I went to a honky tonk last night, met my darlin’ at the door
She put a brand new hole in my Stetson hat with her old .44
Ain’t gonna do that no more
I’m a cowboy who can’t lose
These brand new Stetson blues
Brewster County Blues (Larry W. Jones 07/30/20070 (song#4792)
The old corral, Texas moon above
Fireflies light that we called love
Songs we sang that didn’t even rhyme
How long has it been since you were mine
Living alone in the old ranch house
Thinking of you in your gingham blouse
Knowing that I will never find
Another like you who left me behind
Longhorns roam across the bottom land
Tomorrow the boys and I will burn the brand
South wind blowin’ same as yesterday
I wish that it would blow my blues away
Living alone in the old ranch house
Thinking of you in your gingham blouse
Knowing that I will never find
Another like you who left me behind
Horseshoe nails, lonesome Texas town
There’s work to do that makes me frown
Rusty old rails tryin’ to get me down
Wish I could board that outward bound
Living alone in the old ranch house
Thinking of you in your gingham blouse
Knowing that I will never find
Another like you who left me behind
West Texas Brewster County roads
Winter’s comin’ on and it’s gonna be cold
Listen to the Alpine country radio
Don’t like the new, just listen to the old
Living alone in the old ranch house
Thinking of you in your gingham blouse
Knowing that I will never find
Another like you who left me behind
Rolling On Down To New Orleans (Larry W. Jones 07/30/2007) (song#4793)
Rolling on down to New Orleans
(Rolling on down to New Orleans)
Rolling on down to New Orleans
To the Crescent City where blues is king
Rolling on down to New Orleans
Rhythm in your shoes is a Zydeco thing
Jambalaya and sweet potatoe pie
Stomach is bigger than your eyes
Creole beauties are Cajun queens
On the bayous down in New Orleans
Taught by their mama and their papa too
How to sing the song about a Blue Bayou
Folks in Lousiana are happy to say
Come and roll on down New Orleans way
Rolling on down to New Orleans
To the Crescent City where blues is king
Rolling on down to New Orleans
Rhythm in your shoes is a Zydeco thing
Shrimp boats are sailin’, the Gulf is rough
They won’t come home until they get enough
Trap the mud bugs, cook ’em any way you can
They only serve ’em up hot down in Louisian’
– instrumental –
Taught by their mama and their papa too
How to sing the song about a Blue Bayou
Folks in Lousiana are happy to say
Come and roll on down New Orleans way
Rolling on down to New Orleans
To the Crescent City where blues is king

Mornin’ Sunshine (Larry W. Jones 07/31/2007) (song#4794)
When the mornin’ sun comes up
I warm my hands around my coffee cup
The mornin’ sunshine feels so fine
Because you’re mine
I used to be an old used-to-be
But now that life ain’t for me
The mornin’ sunshine feels so fine
Because you’re mine
Listen to the bluebirds singing
Look at the Springtime springing
– instrumental –
I used to be an old used-to-be
But now that life ain’t for me
The mornin’ sunshine feels so fine
Because you’re mine
Listen to the bluebirds singing
Look at the Springtime springing
Life now is a bed of roses
Love is what the sun composes
The mornin’ sunshine feels so fine
Because you’re mine
The mornin’ sunshine feels so fine
Yeah, it feels so fine
Because you’re mine
More Than Half A Chance (Larry W. Jones 08/01/2007) (song#4795)
Darlin’ if you give me more than half a chance
I’d have more of a chance to have you love me
Yeah, if you just give me more than half a chance
Then I’d have more of a chance to have you stay
I’m holdin’ on for a chance to hold you
Hopin’ that you won’t cross that line
I know it’s not right to try to mold you
But it’s a chance to make you mine
Darlin’ if you give me more than half a chance
Then romance might not have a chance to grieve
Dear, if you just give me more than half a chance
Maybe you might pass up this chance to leave
I don’t know what I’ll do if it’s over
My heart can’t beat unless you’re by my side
Real love can grow as sweet as clover
But if you go, my tears will never dry
– instrumental –
Darlin’ if you give me more than half a chance
Then romance might not have a chance to grieve
Dear, if you just give me more than half a chance
Maybe you might pass up this chance to leave
I don’t know what I’ll do if it’s over
My heart can’t beat unless you’re by my side
Real love can grow as sweet as clover
But if you go, my tears will never dry
On This Side Of Lonesome (Larry W. Jones 08/04/2007) (song#4796)
(On this side of lonesome)
On this side of lonesome
Is not where I wanna be
On this side of lonesome
No love is here with me
I fear the days to come
Of only lonely memories
On this side of lonesome
Oh, is not where I wanna be
(On this side of lonesome)
– instrumental –
On this side of lonesome
Is not where I wanna be
On this side of lonesome
Nobody waits for me
Guess I’ll pick up the pieces
Of a broken heart that was me
On this side of lonesome
Oh, is not where I wanna be
I fear the days to come
Of only lonely memories
On this side of lonesome
(On this side of lonesome)
Oh, is not where I wanna be
Thousand Miles To Home (Larry W. Jones 08/04/2007) (song#4797)
Well, here I am walking along the track
Thinking of writing another letter home
To tell my folks that I’ll be coming back
Cause I’ve run out of places I want to roam
When I hear that home bound train in the night
A ticket to home will ease the pain and the fright
It’s a thousand miles to where I’m goin’
And I know that a thousand smiles will be showin’
When I ride that train a thousand miles home
– instrumental –
I’ll have to pawn my guitar and rings
Because I’ve already pawned my dreams
Gonna go through the third class ticket turnstile
And watch the countryside pass a thousand miles
Well, one thing for sure I know
No more am I gonna roam
I’m gonna live my life poor but slow
In a thousand miles when I get home
I know when I hear that home bound train in the night
A ticket to home will ease the pain and the fright
It’s a long old thousand miles to where I’m goin’
And I know a thousand smiles will be showin’
When I ride that train a thousand miles to home
Still No Reply In The Mail (Larry W. Jones 08/04/2007) (song#4798)
Still no reply to my letter
Nothing that I can tell my heart
I feel like an old homesteader
Waiting for it to break apart
Still no reply in the mail
Not a single word from my darlin’
And I wrote her in detail
That there would be no more quarrelin’
Still no reply in the mail
A dozen times I wrote to her
That I admit I’m to blame
I’m sorry that I split from her
I said she was still my flame
Still no reply in the mail
Not a single word from my darlin’
and I wrote her in detail
That there would be no more quarrelin’
Still no reply in the mail
I’m goin’ to check the mail today
And this might be my last time
If there’s no letter, I’m goin’ away
And leave that girl and her love behind
Nobody’s Hurtin’ As Bad As Me (Larry W. Jones 08/04/2007) (song#4799)
Nobody’s hurtin’ as bad as me
And my kind of heartaches most cannot see
Sometimes I want to tell the world so long
But I must write another hurtin’ song
Nobody’s hurtin’ as bad as me
Nobody’s hurtin’ as bad as me
No girl goes flirtin’ as bad as she
Nights are a blur, daytime’s not too clear
Because of her, all I see are tears
Nobody’s hurtin’ as bad as me
Now, if I could find a way
To relieve this hurt and pain
I’d take a double dose and pray
That maybe I don’t go insane
Nobody’s hurtin’ as bad as me
And my kind of heartaches most cannot see
Sometimes I want to tell the world so long
But I must write another hurtin’ song
Nobody’s hurtin’ as bad as me
– instrumental –
Now, if I could find a way
To relieve this hurt and pain
I’d take a double dose and pray
That maybe I don’t go insane
Nobody’s hurtin’ as bad as me
And my kind of heartaches most cannot see
Sometimes I want to tell the world so long
But I must write another hurtin’ song
Nobody’s hurtin’ as bad as me
Nobody’s hurtin’ as bad as me
Nobody’s hurtin’ as bad as me
Nobody’s hurtin’ …fade
Flow Easy Red River (Larry W. Jones 08/04/2007) (song#4800)
(Flow easy Red River as my sweetheart sleeps)
(Flow easy Red River, please don’t let her weep)
Flow easy Red River as my sweetheart sleeps
Flow easy Red River, please don’t let her weep
To love her is easy with her lips like wine
Flow easy as her dreams tonight merge with mine
Our dreams of tomorrow by your riverside
Are never of sorrow cause she’ll be my bride
As you flow to the ocean out into the blue
Flow easy Red River just like our dreams both do
– instrumental –
