But I Don’t Care (Larry W. Jones 02/10/2007) (song#4401)

My dreams have fled, my life has bled, but I don’t care
My mind has said your love is dead, so I don’t care
My only regret is that you and I met, I swear
My dreams have fled, my life’s in shreds, but I don’t care

A dream is a thing that comes from out of the blue
I had a dream but it’s never seen since I lost you
My mind has said your love is dead, so I don’t care
My dreams have fled, my life has bled, but I don’t care

– instrumental –

A dream is a thing that comes from out of the blue
I had a dream but it’s never seen since I lost you
My mind has said your love is dead, so I don’t care
My dreams have fled, my life has bled, but I don’t care

My only regret is that you and I met, I swear
My dreams have fled, my life’s in shreds, but I don’t care
My dreams have fled, my life’s in shreds…
But I don’t care…

Mexia Texas Girl (Larry W. Jones 02/10/2007) (song#4402)

In a small Texas town Vickie Lynn was raised
A baton in the high school band she would twirl
She had such beauty the whole town was dazed
Which wasn’t bad for a young Mexia Texas girl

Jim’s Krispy Fried Chicken was where she spent
After school while dreams in her head would swirl
Of glossy magazines and movie screens content
While she was still a country Mexia Texas girl

She quit high school in her eleventh grade
Married young without her starlet’s pearls
But soon the married life she would trade
For the fame and money of a Hollywood girl

– instrumental –

The time would come when Vickie Lynn changed
And Anna Nicole would make the big time whirl
And the folks back home would think it strange
To see and hear about their own Mexia Texas girl

Years went by and a lot happened in between
For the darling of the screen and magazines
At thirty nine Anna Nicole left this world
Was it by design that happiness never find
A Mexia Texas girl

Cowboy Creed (Larry W. Jones 02/10/2007) (song#4403)

Follow that herd, I’ve gotta follow that herd of longhorns
Keep them dogies movin’, movin’, movin’ along
I’ve gotta follow that herd wherever the trail may lead
I’ve gotta follow that herd cause that’s the cowboy creed

When that herd gets restless, it’s time to move ’em along
When it’s time to bed ’em down, a cowboy sings his song
It’s like a dream that calls all cowboys true
And there’s nothing else a cowboy can do

I’ve gotta follow that herd wherever the trail may lead
I’ve gotta follow that herd cause that’s the cowboy creed
Keep them dogies movin’, movin’, movin’ along

One of these days I’ll find another love for me
Someone who’ll ride life’s trail with me
And when I’ve heard her call, there’ll be no doubt
That herdin’ cattle ain’t all that dreams are all about

I’ve gotta follow that herd wherever the trail may lead
I’ve gotta follow that herd cause that’s the cowboy creed
I’ve gotta follow that herd wherever the trail may lead
I’ve gotta follow that herd cause that’s the cowboy creed

Keep them dogies movin’, movin’, movin’ along
Keep them dogies movin’, movin’, movin’ along
Movin’, movin’, movin’ along

Follow The Western Trail (Larry W. Jones 02/10/2007) (song#4404)

Follow the western trail
The cowboy trail that went away
Return to me, is what I pray
The cowboy way I miss each day

Follow the western trail
Wherever real cowboys may be
Follow the western trail and you’ll find me

At night I feel the pull of the moon
Even the purple sage does its part
The western trail could not come too soon
For a cowboy with an empty heart

Bring back the only love I knew
The way of life that I once knew
Make the western trail come true
And all my cowboy dreams renew

Follow the western trail
Wherever real cowboys may be
Follow the western trail and you’ll find me

Mindless Heart (Larry W. Jones 02/10/2007) (song#4405)

I want a love that wants to grow
I want a love that I can know
Will be always there
Will see love through somehow
Will be ready to share

I want a love that will grow strong
One that will keep me from feeling alone
But I wonder about my lonely heart
Whether it will do its part
Or lose its mind again as at the start

Mindless heart, now hear me talking
Better run away, just keep on walking
Mindless heart, take heed of warning
You just think that you were hurt before
Think twice before you open your door

– instrumental –

Your heartstrings are tuning again
Don’t go swooning over a love you can’t win
Now who’s that knocking on your door
Someone with silk stockings as before
You know that if you let her in
Your breaking might begin again

Mindless heart, now hear me talking
Better run away, just keep on walking
Mindless heart, take heed of warning
You just think that you were hurt before
Think twice before you open your door

Cowboy’s Shangri-la (Larry W. Jones 02/10/2007) (song#4406)

Hope you get this telegraph message, darlin’
Cause this may be my last hurrah
Tomorrow at high noon I may be dyin’
At the doorway to the Cowboy’s Shangri-la

The cattle drive was over this mornin’
I sent some earnin’s on to Ma and Pa
But then I walked over to the bar room
The one called the Cowboy’s Shangri-la

The room was noisy, watching can-can girls dance
There were men playin’ poker, cowboys all
So, I found me a table, thought I’d take a chance
A grand old place, the Cowboy’s Shangri-la

One of them asked me if I had a love
I showed him your picture and he said, aha
His disrespect led to push and shove
At that table in the Cowboy’s Shangri-la

I looked him square in the face and told him
Mister, you’ll eat those words real soon
And I challenged him in front of all of them
Meet me at the Cowboy’s Shangri-la at noon

So, this telegram may be adios, my darlin’
Guns will be clearin’ leather outside the law
If I don’t return from Virginia City, darlin’
You’ll find my boots in the Cowboy’s Shangri-la

All My Days And Cowboy Ways (Larry W. Jones 02/10/2007) (song#4407)

For all my days and cowboy ways
I think of all the things I’ve seen
Mountains so high, the western sky
And I thank heaven for every scene

The prairie stage, the purple sage
I think of every valley stream
At the end of day, I stop and say
A thanks to heaven for every scene

On clouds I gaze, sun painted ablaze
Sometimes it looks like a dream
For all my days and cowboy ways
I thank heaven for every scene

– instrumental –

The prairie stage, the purple sage
I think of every valley stream
At the end of day, I stop and say
A thanks to heaven for every scene

On clouds I gaze, sun painted ablaze
Sometimes it looks like a dream
For all my days and cowboy ways
I thank heaven for every scene

On The Trail To The Sun (Larry W. Jones 02/10/2007) (song#4408)

My pony rides on stormy trails
Faces prairies covered by veils
But the end of the trail’s in view
Now that I’m seeing you

I lived this cowboy life so lightly
Never finding a gentle lady
I roamed so freely and completely
Doing things a little shady

But life went on drifting by
Many times I hung my head to sigh
True love I let myself deny
Many times I hung my head to cry

Trails that you ride when you’re alone
Speak louder than words in a cowboy song
Gentle lady, these words you now must know
I’ve been spurred to say that I love you so

Point my pony on the trail to the sun
Feel the warmth of true love just begun
We’ll share each and every dream that comes
On the trail to the sun

Kinda Sentimental Love (Larry W. Jones 02/11/2007) (song#4409)

My love for you is kinda sentimental
Please believe me, I beg of you
And if you will be gentle
I’ll give my heart to you

I was meant for you
And you were meant for me alone
If you’ll give your heart to me
I’ll give you mine that’s true and strong

Each morning is when I think of you
Each night is when I dream of you
Darling, I’d never be lonely
If you’d only make my dream come true

– instrumental –

My love for you is kinda sentimental
Please believe me, I beg of you
And if you will be gentle
I’ll give my heart to you

Each morning is when I think of you
Each night is when I dream of you
Darling, I’d never be lonely
If you’d only make my dream come true

This Desert Rose (Larry W. Jones 02/11/2007) (song#4410)

Please take this desert rose
This tender desert rose
A little flower rare
Far beyond compare

And as the sunlight goes
See the crimson as it glows
And see also there
An emblem of the love this cowboy bears

Please take this cowboy’s heart
For in this heart is where true love dwells
And let it become a flame
To warm your life and mine the same

Please take this cowboy’s heart
And look into my eyes for they will tell
That in my heart dwells a love I claim
For you and you alone

Please take this desert rose
This tender desert rose
An emblem of the love this cowboy bears

Stagecoach Full Of Love (Larry W. Jones 02/11/2007) (song#4411)

I’ve got horses pullin’ a stagecoach full of love
And I need a cute little cowgirl to ride in thereof
I’ve got saddlebags full of kisses
Come and be my missus in my stagecoach full of love

We’ll explore the prairie wide together
We’ll stay dry inside in stormy weather
I’ve got a golden band for your hand
On your finger it’ll fit like a glove
I’ll give my horses the stride command
And we’ll ride in my stagecoach full of love

– instrumental –

My stagecoach full of love is really dandy
We’ll raise lots of kids until we’re really grandy
I’ve got horses pullin’ a stagecoach full of love
And I need a cute little cowgirl to ride in thereof
I’ve got saddlebags full of kisses
Come and be my missus in my stagecoach full of love

We’ll explore the prairie wide together
We’ll stay dry inside in stormy weather
I’ve got a stagecoach full of love and best wishes
And if you wish I might even help to dry the dishes

I’ve got a golden band for your hand
On your finger it’ll fit like a glove
I’ll give my horses the stride command
And we’ll ride in my stagecoach full of love

Fade To Black (Larry W. Jones 02/11/2007) (song#4412)

The play is about to end where they throw in the rose
But I know I’ll have to leave before the curtains close
It’s the final act and there’s no chance of turning back
The play is about to end where they throw in the rose
Let the fade to black begin before my heartache shows

The part you played was written by the queen of hearts
The part I played was written by a joker from the start
So, before the final curtain call is sounded by applause
I’m already certain that all my dreams are at a loss
Let the fade to black begin before my heartaches start

– instrumental –

It could have been a joyful ending on a stage of love
But once the lights so bright begin to fade to black
No one turns back the hands of time with a silken glove
The part I played was written by a joker from the start
Let the fade to black begin before my heartaches start

Eternally And Evermore (Larry W. Jones 02/11/2007) (song#4413)

Eternally and evermore
I will love you true
I would wait eternally
For a dream like you
You make me glad
Though sometimes sad and blue
Must I wait eternally and evermore for you

At night I say a silent prayer
And ask that you care for me
If you could only hear my prayer
And your love share with me
All the gold could not compare or buy one thing I need
Eternally and evermore a pair of lovers be

– instrumental –

At night I say a silent prayer
And ask that you care for me
If you could only hear my prayer
And your love share with me
All the gold could not compare or buy one thing I need
Eternally and evermore a pair of lovers be

Forever Spring (Larry W. Jones 02/11/2007) (song#4414)

The winter snow is melting as the new replaces old
And greener days are drawing near
Early spring is coming to replace the cold
Now that you are here

I watch the robbins flying north like springtime gems
A million of them will appear
I am happy, oh so happy, just like them
Now that you are here

Like the springtime wind through the trees in May
Like a song on the breeze you came my way

Through the winter’s cold and snow I used to tread my way
I always hated that time of year
But now the cold is gone and springtime’s on display
Now that you are here

Like the springtime wind through the trees in May
Like a song on the breeze you came my way

I feel a gentle rain from warmer skies
I always welcome this time of year
My life will be forever spring
Now that you are here

Forever In Levi Jeans (Larry W. Jones 02/11/2007) (song#4415)

People like to talk
About your two-step dance, it seems
But with me their talk don’t walk
I don’t mind if they take a glance
You’ll look good in honky tonk scenes
Forever in Levi jeans

Now, sugar is always sweet
Like honey dancin’ to a honky tonk beat
If you wanna be a country queen
Say, that’s OK with me
As long as you will be
Forever in Levi jeans

– instrumental –

Let’s go dancin’ tonight
On slow dances I’ll hold you tight
Then we’ll set the floor on fire
Might create a scene
Darlin’, you’re my one desire
No room for anyone in between

People like to talk
About your two-step dance, it seems
But with me their talk don’t walk
I don’t mind if they take a glance
You’ll look good in honky tonk scenes
Forever in Levi jeans

Remember Texas (Larry W. Jones 02/11/2007) (song#4416)

Now son, remember Texas always
It will make your dreams come true
Extend the cowboy code to others
And they will do the same for you
You don’t have to be a movie star
Your cowboy life has just begun
Just be true to Texas always, son
Remember Texas, remember Texas
And you’ll be a favorite Texas son

Now son, always do what is right
All you do is follow the golden rule
Be truthful when you’re out of sight
And the Texas sun will shine on you
Son, don’t do anything that’s wrong
Just be courageous, bold and strong
Just be true to Texas always, son
Remember Texas, remember Texas
And you’ll be a favorite Texas son

Now son, with hands working hard
And your feet in boots standing tall
Folks will give you their high regard
And you’ll get up every time you fall
These words, son, will bring you joy
Now, remember to be a good cowboy
Just be true to Texas always, son
Remember Texas, remember Texas
And you’ll be a favorite Texas son

Well Pardon Me (Larry W. Jones 02/11/2007) (song#4417)

You left me and left me broken hearted
You left me and told me to forget
You thought that you could live without me
Well pardon me, but you don’t seem happy yet

Pardon me, but your pain was not my cause
Pardon me, there were no unkind words I said
You thought that you could live without me
Well pardon me, but you’ve got a broken heart instead

– instrumental –

You say you’re sorry you made me blue, darlin’
You say you want to come back now
You thought that you could live without me
Well pardon me, but it’s too late, you broke your vow

Pardon me, but your pain was not my cause
Pardon me, there were no unkind words I said
You thought that you could live without me
Well pardon me, but you’ve got a broken heart instead

Rio Grande Lady (Larry W. Jones 02/11/2007) (song#4418)

An adobe covered in whitewash by the border line
A garden of cactus and hills of ponderosa pine
There I wandered where purple sage and avocado grow
Down a hot and dusty Juarez road

Old wooden wheels warped by the Mexican sun
Cracked adobe walls where lizards playfully run
I sit on the porch and wonder how it all began
I guess I came down here to be a maverick man

I pick my guitar strings and watch the sun go down
I could ride away but I think I’ll stay in Juarez town
Rio Grande lady, sing a lovers song for me
Rio Grande lady, with you forever I will be

Candle lights glow on Spanish guitars at night
Bare footed children dance in the moonlight bright
Here Coronado came to conquer and stay a spell
Here my heart was conquered, that I know so well

Time moves on but my movin’ on is done
Unsaddle my pony and let him loose to run
Rio Grande lady, sing a lovers song for me
Rio Grande lady, with you forever I will be

I Found Me A Treasure (Larry W. Jones 02/12/2007) (song#4419)

I found me a treasure
A veritable fortune, it seems
It’s of a meritable measure
Of a treasure in dreams

Once I was poor
With nothing to spend
Now I’m sure my pockets hold millions
All I have to do is pretend

I dream of night dreams in the daylight
In spite of my schemes, I’m doin’ alright

I don’t have a Texas oil man’s bank account
But I’m frank when I say, that I can surmount
I found me a treasure to help me get by
I measure my dreams and try not to cry

– instrumental –

I’ve heard and seen that the love of money is evil
So I get all my green from the forest primeval
That way it’s as free as the birds up there flying
Someday my eyes won’t be blurred with this crying

I don’t have a Texas oil man’s bank account
But I’m frank when I say, that I can surmount
I found me a treasure to help me get by
I measure my dreams and try not to cry

Warm Texas Winds (Larry W. Jones 02/12/2007) (song#4420)

Warm Texas winds that blow gently
Gulf of Mexico in our sight
Some things seem to never change
From day to day
We had good times when we were young
And now my saddle and spurs are hung
Darlin’, you and I have earned this Texas day

Let’s ride down to South Padre
We’ll watch seagulls and listen to their call
We’ll visit with old friends down on that Texas shore
But if you change your mind
We can go there any old time
These warm Texas winds will blow just as before

– instrumental –

We’ll get there before the snow birds from up north
Come down and get all the campsites that are good
They always come to where the Texas winds are fair
I suppose they get tired of snowy weather
And I suppose there ain’t much for them to do
When those winter winds blow so cold up there

Warm Texas winds that blow gently
Gulf of Mexico in our sight
Some things seem to never change
From day to day
We had good times when we were young
And now my saddle and spurs are hung
Darlin’, you and I have earned this Texas day

Old Mule Skinner (Larry W. Jones 02/12/2007) (song#4421)

Mule train, mule train, pullin’ so slow
Mule train, mule train, so tired I know
One of these days I’m gonna be movin’ on
Boss man’s gonna miss this old mule skinner when I’m gone

Mule train, mule train, pull those logs around the bend
Mule train, mule train, one more time and do it again
One of these days I won’t be found around
Don’t look for me, I’ll be homeward bound

Mule train, mule train, pullin’ so slow
Mule train, mule train, so tired I know
One of these days I’m gonna be movin’ on
Boss man’s gonna miss this old mule skinner when I’m gone

There’s just one place I’d love to see
Where the pace is slow as slow can be
In those Blue Ridge mountains I’d spend my time
By a creek under a bridge drinkin’ sweet sweet wine

And when I die don’t pine for me
Just bury me by a tall pine tree
I won’t hear tired old mules when they whine
Cause I won’t be an old mule skinner when I die

I’m gettin’ tired, I’m almost in my grave
I’ve given and given and gave and gave
There ain’t nothin’ else for me to crave
I’ve just been an old mule skinner slave

Mule train, mule train, pullin’ so slow
Mule train, mule train, so tired I know
One of these days I’m gonna be movin’ on
Boss man’s gonna miss this old mule skinner when I’m gone
Boss man’s gonna miss this old mule skinner when I’m gone

It’s Been So Long (Larry W. Jones 02/12/2007) (song#4422)

It’s been a year since you were here
And I’m lonely for you, dear
It’s been so long since you were mine
The case I’m in is so severe
I wonder if the end is near
It’s been so long since you were mine

I’m gonna keep writin’ letters til I know that you’ve replied
Then if things are better, maybe these tears of mine will dry

It’s been a year since you were here
And I’m lonely for you, dear
It’s been so long since you were mine

The rain is startin’ to pour, and the clock is readin’ four
It’s been so long since you were mine
My dreams have up and flown for the only love I’ve known
It’s been so long since you were mine

I’m gonna keep writin’ letters to the only address I know
I might become a debtor and owe the postal service dough

It’s been a year since you were here
And I’m lonely for you, dear
It’s been so long since you were mine

I’ve lost my bride, lost my pride
I’m like jerky that’s been dried
It’s been so long since you were mine

I’ve been feelin’ like a clown
Like a king who’s lost his crown
It’s been so long since you were mine

I’m gonna keep writin’ letters til I run out of ink
I’m gonna write ’em on paper colored blue instead of pink

It’s been a year since you were here
And I’m lonely for you, dear
It’s been so long since you were mine

Plain Jane Blues (Larry W. Jones 02/12/2007) (song#4423)

I was born in Georgia in a pauper’s shack
City folks had what poor country girls lack
Georgia dirt roads taught me how to cry
Wind in a weeping willow was my lullaby
I’ve got the plain Jane blues
Oh, mama, I’ve got ’em down to my plain Jane shoes

I heard a train whistle blow and I had to go
Oh, mama, don’t you know
You raised a daughter who’s never gonna lose
The plain Jane blues

My daddy was a ditch digger and my mama, dear
Well, she wasn’t bigger than a corn stalk ear
My boyfriend was poor and like a worn out joke
It’s a cryin’ shame when you’re born stone broke
I’ve got the plain Jane blues
Oh, mama, I’ve got ’em down to my plain Jane shoes

I heard a train whistle blow and I had to go
Oh, mama, don’t you know
You raised a daughter who’s never gonna lose
The plain Jane blues

Well, there was only one place I heard was blessed
So, I took a west bound train to find the Texas best
But everybody there was at the rodeo
And I couldn’t go cause I had no dough
Oh, mama, don’t you know
You raised a daughter who’s never gonna lose
The plain Jane blues

From This Wagon Train (Larry W. Jones 02/12/2007) (song#4424)

I’ve seen Buffalo soldiers on the march
I’ve seen Comanches when they roam
I’ve seen deserts that’s dry and parched
And I’ve seen the last of my old home

Now my lifeline is two thousand miles of wagon tracks
And in my lifetime I doubt if I’ll ever be comin’ back
From this wagon train
From this wagon train
From this wagon train

I’m on a search for gold that just may be to no avail
I feel the bump and lurch rollin’ down this wagon trail
It’s too far ahead to have my destination in my sight
I hope these wagon treads don’t pass it in the night

From this wagon train, I see the wheels a-turnin’
From this wagon train, I feel my dreams a-burnin’
From this wagon train, I know there’s no returnin’
From this wagon train, I’m a-yearnin’ for the gold

And if by chance I find a woman along the trail someday
I’ll ask her to be my little woman over in Cal-i-forn-i-a

From this wagon train, I see the wheels a-turnin’
From this wagon train, I feel my dreams a-burnin’
From this wagon train, I know there’s no returnin’
From this wagon train, I’m a-yearnin’ for the gold

Armani Suits And Wrangler Jeans (Larry W. Jones 02/12/2007) (song#4425)

From a Rolls Royce to a cowboy, I had to make a change
From a phony to a pony, saddled up and ridin’ the range
From movie stars, discos and bars to cottonwood trees
There’s a lot of lies and truth between
Armani suits and Wrangler jeans

The lifestyle I was livin’ didn’t allow for cowboy boots
And Gucci shoes just didn’t fit in with rodeo chutes
I traded my gold plated shades and short term gains
For the cowboy life and I don’t need that strife again

From a Rolls Royce to a cowboy, I had to make a change
From a phony to a pony, saddled up and ridin’ the range
From movie stars, discos and bars to cottonwood trees
There’s a lot of lies and truth between
Armani suits and Wrangler jeans

The tan on my face comes from west Texas sunlight
My bar stool is now a log around the campfire at night
Just look in my eyes and there you’ll see no disguise
I learned to cook bacon and beans under Texas skies

From a Rolls Royce to a cowboy, I had to make a change
From a phony to a pony, saddled up and ridin’ the range
From movie stars, discos and bars to cottonwood trees
There’s a lot of lies and truth between
Armani suits and Wrangler jeans

Back To Texas With Love (Larry W. Jones 02/12/2007) (song#4426)

Back to Texas with love, I ride to you
No place is as good as beside of you
I traveled the west and learned a thing or two
Now, I must return, it’s true
Back to Texas with love

The places I’ve seen, faces friendly and mean
There’s one face I must see, I know
So, I’ll swallow my pride
Untie my pony and ride
Back to Texas to one I love so
Where I’ll beg to be your Cowboy Joe

– instrumental –

So, I’ll swallow my pride
Untie my pony and ride
Back to Texas to one I love so
Where I’ll beg to be your Cowboy Joe

From Texas I rode away with the wind
But then I realized just what I had been
A coward with empty dreams to speak of
Now I must return like a lonesome dove
Back to Texas with love

Let Me Buy You A Sasparilla (Larry W. Jones 02/13/2007) (song#4427)

Let me buy you a sasparilla
On this hot El Paso day
We’ll stroll around the villa
And laugh our cares away

And if you want to ride
Down to the Rio Grande
I’ll get the ponies untied
And by the Rio we’ll land

We’ll stop to pick flowers by the trail
And I’ll place one upon your heart
Another flower I’ll keep without fail
As a token that we will never part

– instrumental –

Let me buy you a sasparilla
On this hot El Paso day
We’ll stroll around the villa
And laugh our cares away

And if you want to ride
Down to the Rio Grande
I’ll get the ponies untied
And by the Rio we’ll land

We’ll stop to pick flowers by the trail
And I’ll place one upon your heart
Another flower I’ll keep without fail
As a token that we will never part

Texas Moon (Larry W. Jones 02/13/2007) (song#4428)

Texas moon, I see you wearing your ten gallon hat
You must think your gold is big and things like that
I know you’ve been hangin’ around forever and a day
But now, Texas moon, you’re not as big as people say

Texas moon, I know you’ve got some hardy power
You pull up the tides and lovers’ hearts devour
Texas moon, you never misses with your kisses
But your splendor isn’t all that makes love tender

– instrumental –

Texas moon, I know you’ve got some hardy power
You pull up the tides and lovers’ hearts devour
Texas moon, you never misses with your kisses
But your splendor isn’t all that makes love tender

Texas moon, I know what your plans are
Just the same as woman and man’s are
So, go ahead and tell your tall Texas lies
Cause long after your golden lovelight dies
Her Texas heart and mine will be in love

At The End Of The Trail (Larry W. Jones 02/13/2007) (song#4429)

Up where the Sierras are rugged and dark
Gold sparkles in the stream at a gold digger’s run
Then there is heard the unmistakable bark
Of a 44 bullet that’s cold from a hair trigger gun

Put on the dead man’s best suit and new tie
Bury him in his graveyard boots and goodbye
The deed’s done and there’s no one to wail
I’ll meet the law at the end of the trail

At the end of the trail
At the end of the trail
Just like the Sierras are rugged and dark
In the stream at a gold digger’s run
I’ll run out of fortune and hear the bark
From a lawman’s 44 hair trigger gun

Put on my best suit and my dead man’s tie
Bury me in my graveyard boots and goodbye
The deed’s done and there’s no one to wail
I’ll meet the law at the end of the trail

At the end of the trail
At the end of the trail
Just like the Sierras are rugged and dark
In the stream at a gold digger’s run
I’ll run out of fortune and hear the bark
From a lawman’s 44 hair trigger gun
At the end of the trail

His Daddy Is The Dusty Road (Larry W. Jones 02/13/2007) (song#4430)

He said his daddy is the dusty road
I heard him say his mama is the wind
I found out his brothers are the mountains
And his sisters live where the ocean waves begin
I know he said he’d never settle down
Cause none of them would take care of him

He said he would stop to thank the sunshine
That kept him warm today
He thanked me for my tenderness
And said it almost made him stay
He said that he could learn to love me
Until the end of time
But settlin’ down was not as strong
As was the leavin’ on his mind

– instrumental –

He said that more than once a day
His heart was tempted by my touch
He said that no one else could be the one
That he could learn to love as much
But he didn’t want to leave me
With empty promises and dreams
So, that’s the reason why he left me
I watched him pass from off the scene

He said his daddy is the dusty road
I heard him say his mama is the wind
I found out his brothers are the mountains
And his sisters live where the ocean waves begin

On A Golden Shore (Larry W. Jones 02/14/2007) (song#4431)

My world was blue, my heart was too
I didn’t know what to do
My love had gone, a sad sad song
And I was feeling so alone

Then one day I sailed away
I couldn’t take it anymore
I went to where the air was fair
And landed on a golden shore

Palm trees were swaying, breezes saying
You’ve found what you came for
The sand was warm, your lips were warm
Your eyes said, please adore

The sky is blue, my heart feels new
Now, I will stay here evermore
I bless the day I sailed away
And found you on a golden shore

– instrumental –

Palm trees were swaying, breezes saying
You’ve found what you came for
The sand was warm, your lips were warm
Your eyes said please adore

The sky is blue, my heart feels new
Now, I will stay here evermore
I bless the day I sailed away
And found you on a golden shore

King Of Broken Hearts (Larry W. Jones 02/14/2007) (song#4432)

Well, it sounds like the game is over
Nothing worked out as we planned
I thought we’d be rolling in clover
I know our friends won’t understand

Today is a day of sorrow
You’re still the queen of hearts
I’ve already seen tomorrow
I’ll be the king of broken hearts

Our love had its chance, dear
It’s hard to know why a quarrel starts
It’s the end of romance, dear
For the king and queen of hearts

– instrumental –

Our love had its chance, dear
It’s hard to know why a quarrel starts
It’s the end of romance, dear
For the king and queen of hearts

Today is a day of sorrow
You’re still the queen of hearts
I’ve already seen tomorrow
I’ll be the king of broken hearts

I’ve already seen tomorrow
I’ll be the king of broken hearts

Lake Travis And Austin And Cold Lone Star Beer (Larry W. Jones 02/14/2007) (song#4433)

The bluebirds are singin’, bluegills are springin’
All over Lake Travis at fireflies tonight
It’s the best lake in the whole Lone Star State
If you wanna go fishin’ in the moonlight

My honey and I don’t need to get high
On anything more than Hill Country woods
We fell in love deep on old Caney creek
That cowgirl’s got beauty under her hood

– instrumental –

Just give me a guitar and a sweet Texas girl
And a cane fishin’ pole in the moonlight
Go down to Lake Travis and give it a whirl
Bluegills are jumpin’ at fireflies tonight

Tomorrow in Austin, big fish fry they’re tossin’
There’ll be bluegills and catfish up to our ears
Man, we’ve got it made right here in the shade
Lake Travis and Austin and cold Lone Star beer

Tomorrow in Austin, big fish fry they’re tossin’
There’ll be bluegills and catfish up to our ears
Man, we’ve got it made right here in the shade
Lake Travis and Austin and cold Lone Star beer

Lake Travis and Austin and cold Lone Star beer

Livin’ On Pickup Truck Drive (Larry W. Jones 02/15/2007) (song#4434)

Well, I’m not a rich man livin’ in a penthouse dive
I’m just a poor cowboy livin’ on Pickup Truck Drive
I work longer every day than the old nine to five
I’m just a poor cowboy livin’ on Pickup Truck Drive

I’m not a rich man waitin’ for his ship to arrive
I’m just a poor cowboy who’s tryin’ to stay alive
Doin’ each day what I know is right is what I strive
I’m just a poor cowboy livin’ on Pickup Truck Drive

– instrumental –

I know there’s rich folks shoppin’ on Rodeo Drive
Buyin’ up everything every rich man can contrive
But I’ve got more that gold and on her love I thrive
I’m just a poor cowboy livin’ on Pickup Truck Drive
Yeah, I’m just a poor cowboy
Livin’ it up on Pickup Truck Drive

Under The Call Of Love (Larry W. Jones 02/16/2007) (song#4435)

A rich man’s chances of getting a pretty girl’s glances
Are better than mine, I know
He’s got the money, but you better look out now, honey
His love is just for show

He’ll give you love that’s less and under the call of love
In time he’ll just make you cry
He’ll give you love that’s less and under the call of love
His love’s not as true as mine

– instrumental –

When we met at the dance, I could tell at a glance
That your high style would end up a lower destiny
I could offer you true love, but I couldn’t get above
The lowest limb that grew on his tall money tree

He’ll give you love that’s less and under the call of love
In time he’ll just make you cry
He’ll give you love that’s less and under the call of love
His love’s not as true as mine

He’ll give you love that’s less and under the call of love
His love’s not as true as mine

Villa So Grand (Larry W. Jones 02/16/2007) (song#4436)

Above the village stands a villa so grand
Far up the hill from this cottage of mine
I still love her more than any man can
But a rich man said that he loved her too
She’s above the village in a villa so grand

I know he bought her jewelry and rings
Fancy dresses made for royalty queens
Everything she needs is at her command
Even his love bought with money of green
Up above the village in a villa so grand

– instrumental –

How, under the sun, could she be happy there
I know I’m the one with true love to share
I pray that some day she’ll wake up and find
That happiness is not in a villa so grand
And that I still wait in this village of mine

I pray that some day she’ll wake up and find
That happiness is not in a villa so grand
And that I still wait in this village of mine

Outbound Side Of Town (Larry W. Jones 02/16/2007) (song#4437)

I’m tired of all my grievin’
I’m wired for all-time leavin’
Don’t bother wasting all your time
So, don’t call and waste your dime
I’m headed for the outbound side of town

What started good somehow turned bad
You tried to draw a big picture of every little flaw
You know that’s true and it’s so sad
This big line I draw is drawn by the last little straw

I’m headed for the outbound side of town
I’ll be on the next outbound greyhound
My dreams are dyin’, I can’t stop cryin’
I’m headed for the outbound side of town

– instrumental –

I’m headed for the outbound side of town
I’ll be on the next outbound greyhound
My dreams are dyin’, I can’t stop cryin’
I’m headed for the outbound side of town

By mornin’ I’ll be halfway from Texas to Tennessee
A halfway love was never good for you or me
Before another tear that’s fallin’ hits the ground
I’m headed for the outbound side of town

Before another tear that’s fallin’ hits the ground
I’m headed for the outbound side of town

Nashville Neon Moody Moon (Larry W. Jones 02/17/2007) (song#4438)

When the sun is sinkin’ in Nashville town
My thinkin’ sounds like a honky tonk tune
When my drinkin’ world comes crashin’ down
I fall under a Nashville neon moody moon

I know that I’m not the first lonely
Old cowboy to lose his one and only
There’s other cowboys in this saloon
Under a Nashville neon moody moon

– instrumental –

I know the reason why a neon moon is blue
It comes up when love’s treason’s through
Leon always plays that steel guitar tune
Under a Nashville neon moody moon

Every song the jukebox plays, I find
Plays along with questions on my mind
Why you left me alone and so broody
Under a Nashville neon moody moon

Every song the jukebox plays, I find
Plays along with questions on my mind
Why you left me alone and so broody
Under a Nashville neon moody moon

You I Love (Larry W. Jones 02/17/2007) (song#4439)

You I love, more than the prairie morning so still
More than the purple sage on the hill
More than the western skies of blue, you I love

A heart I have, beating strong for this situation
And lips I have, meeting yours in eager expectation

Darling, you are mine under the western sky ablaze
You please me in over a thousand ways
Let me saddle your pony, get your hat and gloves
And come ride with me, for it’s you I love

– instrumental –

A heart I have, beating strong for this situation
And lips I have, meeting yours in eager expectation

You I love
Darling, you are mine under the western sky ablaze
You please me in over a thousand ways
Let me saddle your pony, get your hat and gloves
And come ride with me, for it’s you I love

Roy Rogers (Larry W. Jones 02/18/2007) (song#4440)

The thing I remember most when I was a child
Was the matinee movies of when the west was wild
Mama’s lettin’ me go to the movie show was routine
To see Roy Rogers ridin’ Trigger, a golden palomino
Across the silver screen

Saturday morning I’d get in line for the big event
The girl in the admission booth charged fifteen cents
All week long I had to go to school but I would dream
Of Roy Rogers ridin’ Trigger, a golden palomino
Across the silver screen

Roy Rogers rode a golden palomino and he was my hero
And I guess you know he’s still the same, it seems
I’ve grown older now, but that doesn’t matter anyhow
My hero’s still Roy Rogers ridin’ a golden palomino
Across the silver screen

My brother and I would ride stick ponies around our home
Mama said we were like wild Indians on the movie screen
But mama knew that wherever we kids would ride and roam
We were just Roy Rogers chasin’ bad guys off the scene

Roy Rogers rode a golden palomino and he was my hero
And I guess you know he’s still the same, it seems
I’ve grown older now, but that doesn’t matter anyhow
My hero’s still Roy Rogers ridin’ a golden palomino
Across the silver screen

My hero’s still Roy Rogers ridin’ a golden palomino
Across the silver screen

Bob Wills And Texas On My Mind (Larry W. Jones 02/18/2007) (song#4441)

The juke box brings memories
That hover around my heart
It makes me long for Texas
Like a love that’s torn apart

Some sweet day when fiddles play
I’ll hear that Bob Wills song
And then I’ll ride back to Texas
Cause Texas is where I belong

Texas, oh Texas, your skies of blue
And an old Bob Wills song
Keeps Texas close behind
Texas, oh Texas, I’m missing you
When I hear Bob Wills play Texas State of Mind

– instrumental –

Texas, oh Texas, your skies of blue
And an old Bob Wills song
Keeps Texas close behind
Texas, oh Texas, I’m missing you
When I hear Bob Wills play Texas State of Mind

Other loves have called to me
Other places have spoken lovingly
But it seems to always be
That Texas, oh Texas I find
That old Bob Wills’ fiddlin’ keeps Texas on my mind

Texas Sea Cruise (Larry W. Jones 02/24/2007) (song#4442)

[guitar solo][spoken]

Well, I was gettin’ a case of the blues,
so darlin’ said, change the pace, cowboy,
let’s round up a cruise. That sounded mighty fine,
so we corraled a Carnival line.
To lose my frown and have some fun,
we cruised in the pickup down to Galveston.
To meet any situation, I dressed for the occasion.
Cowboy boots, shiny shark skin western suit,
bolo tie, stetson hat and things like that.
I wore my long tail yellow duster
to the emergency station muster.
It matched the life jackets real nice.
Under my duster I packed my long barrel .45’s
and my silver bullets.
Now I’ll admit I didn’t have a permit,
but I’d heard they shot clay pidgeons
off the fantail with a lot of pull-its.

We left the dock just fine.
My pocket clock showed right on time,
cruisin’ the Gulf of Mexico on the Ecstasy.
I just call the Gulf the “Texas Sea”.
Off we sailed.
We docked at the dock in Yucatan at Progresso.
Darlin’ asked if I wanted to go to Merida
and I said I guess so.
We boarded a van and headed west.
Now, I kept seein’ dark eagles flyin’ around,
some on barb wire fences,
some on the ground not lookin’ the best.
They showed us Merida,
tried to sell us all kinds of stuff but I said no,
just find that van and ride that rough road
back to Progresso.
I asked about them dark eagles
and darlin’ said come to your senses, so I did.
On the way back I shot them buzzards
off the barb wire fences.

Well, that night was formal night,
so I thought I’d do it right.
Darlin’ said I looked cute in my cowboy boots
and shiny shark skin western suit.
They didn’t have no steer horns
to hang my stetson hat, so I just kept it on
and that was that.
The mater-dee said the special
was stuffed duck and wine
from the south of France.
But I wasn’t gonna get stuck when I dine,
so I didn’t take no chance.
I said, just bring me a big ‘ol steak here
and a longneck Lone Star beer.
Make it a porterhouse
and make it well done on the flame.
Darlin’ said she’d have the same.
I had longneck Lone Stars
’til they started cleanin’,
and when I got up and the whole ship was leanin’.

After supper, we went to the deck
that was upper to see the entertainment.
I told darlin’, let’s get a front row seat
and she thought that was neat.
It was “Extreme Country”, a wild west show
in the purple sage. How it happened, I don’t know,
but half way through they threw me off the stage.
The audience was great,
said I was the best part of the show.
Darlin’ found me at the Old Shipwreck bar
with a new longneck Lone Star.

Next day we docked at the dock in Cozumel.
Man, it was hotter ‘n, well
let’s just say it wasn’t too cool.
The captain could tell I was disappointed
in Cozumel. It was flatter ‘n a flapjack
and ugly as sin. I swore I’d never go there again.
There weren’t no mountains
and the lower deck was taller that the trees,
but they did have good soda fountains
and a balmy breeze.

On the way back, I signed up
for skeet shootin’ off the fantail.
Shootin’ clay pidgeons would be neat,
I could tell. They passed out
twelve gauge shotguns to each contender,
but I never was a big spender,
so I opened my duster and
twirled both long barrel 45’s.
I was first in line and I turned them clay pidgeons
to dust in the brine. Every time they said pull-it,
I nailed it with a silver bullet.
Darlin’ gave me a big ‘ol kiss,
said cowboy you never miss,
you shoot straight as an arrow.
I said, darlin’ it’s easy,
them clay pidgeons are the same size
as as a Texas sparrow. By the time it was over,
both pull-its were broken,
both barrels were smokin’
and everybody was mad
’cause that was all the clay pidgeons they had.
I was kinda glad when we docked at the dock
back in Galveston.

The Carnival folks started out real nice
but now they were just like ice
and said, don’t even THINK of bookin’
another Carnival cruise even if you could.
So, darlin’ and I got in the pickup truck
and cruised on up to Kingwood.
I said, darlin’, next time we’ll round up a cruise
on Royal Caribbean, maybe that Texaribbean special.
I’ll dress for the occasion.
Cowboy boots, shiny shark skin western suit,
bolo tie, stetson hat and things like that.
Long tail yellow duster,
long barrel .45’s, silver bullets…..

Rover In A Rodeo Of Love (Larry W. Jones 02/25/2007) (song#4443)

I’m a rover in a rodeo of love
I’m a cowboy
Bronco buster
I’m never late
When they open that gate, I just count to eight
And when it’s over, I put on my trav’lin’ duster
I’m a rover in a rodeo of love

I’m a polished performer in rodeo affairs, the kind
That’s never confined
A drover in a pickup truck, solitaire
I’m a rover in a rodeo of love

Yeah, I’m a cowboy
You can blame me, flame me
But don’t try to tame me
Cause I’m a rover in a rodeo of love

Real love I’ve never known, I move along
Love is somethin’ they sing about in a song
I just ride to where the next rodeo starts
Tryin’ to hide the subject of a broken heart

Yeah, I’m a cowboy
You can blame me, flame me
But don’t try to tame me
Cause I’m a rover in a rodeo of love

I’m still at the top of the rodeo game
But since I lost you, I’ve never been the same
I’m a cowboy and a rodeo star
But I’d rather be somewhere where you are

Yeah, I’m a cowboy
You can blame me, flame me
But don’t try to tame me
Cause I’m a rover in a rodeo of love

Give Me A Real Cowgirl (Larry W. Jones 02/25/2007) (song#4444)

Give me a Texas night
Give me a real cowgirl
One that’s outta sight
And the rest you can leave to me

Give me a moon that’s bright
In a starlit Texas night
And then you will see
That she’ll give her heart to me

I’ll give my pickup truck a honk
Then take her to a honky tonk
A real cowgirl she’s gonna be

– instrumental –

Give me a moon that’s bright
In a starlit Texas night
And then you will see
That she’ll give her heart to me

I know what I’m talkin’ about
A hot Texas night, no doubt
Give me a real cowgirl
And the rest you can leave to me

Just Give Me A Cowboy Hat (Larry W. Jones 02/25/2007) (song#4445)

I’ve seen folks fussin’ and moanin’
Schemin’, screamin’ and things like that
But I’ve never been prone to throwin’ stones
Just give me a cowboy hat

Some find it’s choice to drive a Rolls Royce
And own the baseball team at bat
But that life I’ll chuck with my pickup truck
Just give me a cowboy hat

– instrumental –

A place that’s not confined is all I ask for
A Texas state of mind that makes me smile
A small ranch house where love is the decor
And the mailbox is on the road about a mile

Some like to make the dough, I make the rodeo
That’s where the real life is at
Sometimes it gets rowdy, but boy howdy
Just give me a cowboy hat
Just give me a cowboy hat

Let Me See A Sign (Larry W. Jones 02/25/2007) (song#4446)

Darlin’, let me see a sign
That your little heart beats with mine
Darlin’, let me see a sign
That will last until the end of time

Darlin’, all my love is just for you
There’s no rust ’cause it’s brand new
I’ll do what you want me to
Darlin’, let me see a sign

Let me kiss your lips
Touch your fingertips
Hold your hand in mine
Show you love divine

Give me a trail to guide me
Let me see you ride beside me
Darlin’, let me see a sign

– instrumental –

Let me kiss your lips
Touch your fingertips
Hold your hand in mine
Show you love divine

Give me a trail to guide me
Let me see you ride beside me
Darlin’, let me see a sign

Cowboy Jack And Cowboy Joe (Larry W. Jones 02/26/2007) (song#4447)

Two rode out three years ago
Cowboy Jack and Cowboy Joe
They set out for parts unknown
To pan for gold and bring it home
In forty nine Cowboy Jack was doin’ fine
So he saddled up for home one day
Now Cowboy Joe was a friend of Jack
So Joe asked Jack to take this message back

Give this letter to Bonnie, Jack
And tell her it’s from me
That Texas girl gives my heart a whirl
I’m sure you must agree
Now Jack, don’t you forget
That Bonnie I love well
Tell dear Bonnie that I’m pannin’ yet
So we can hear a wedding bell

For Cowboy Joe another year had passed
Before he had enough gold to ride
Joe saddled up and rode the trail at last
To make Texas Bonnie his bride
But Cowboy Joe was fit to be buried
Cause his Bonnie, Jack had married
All broken hearted, Cowboy Joe departed
Wishin’ he could take these words back

Give this letter to Bonnie, Jack
And tell her it’s from me
That Texas girl gives my heart a whirl
I’m sure you must agree
Now Jack, don’t you forget
That Bonnie I love well
Tell dear Bonnie that I’m pannin’ yet
So we can hear a wedding bell

Well, that’s the story that’s been told, oh
Of Cowboy Jack and Cowboy Joe

Jones Of The Dow (Larry W. Jones 02/26/2007) (song#4448)

Dismayed, betrayed, tormented endlessly
Pain, no gain, I can’t explain the hurt on me
I thought I’d found a gold mine
But the gold was the kind for fools, you see
Dismayed, betrayed, tormented endlessly

I was told that she had the motherload
I was told that she was the Jones of the Dow
But let me tell you, my balloon was blowed
Cause she had the bones of a Jersey cow

– instrumental –

I was told that she had the motherload
I was told that she was the Jones of the Dow
But let me tell you, my balloon was blowed
Cause she had the bones of a Jersey cow

Dismayed, betrayed, tormented endlessly
Pain, no gain, I can’t explain the hurt on me
I thought I’d found a gold mine
But the gold was the kind for fools, you see
Dismayed, betrayed, tormented endlessly

I was told that she was the Jones of the Dow
Jones of the Dow
Jones of the Dow
Jones of the Dow

Raining Sunny Days (Larry W. Jones 02/26/2007) (song#4449)

How can it be raining when skies are blue
When I tell you, then you’ll know it’s true
Don’t you laugh now when I’m through saying
It’s raining sunny days when I’m with you

The sun is up, dear, that I can see
I see sunbeams falling to the ground
It’s raining sunny days for you and me
Any dark or bright day you’re around

Cloudy skies have disappeared, dear
I’m near to singing out with song
It’s raining sunny days of cheer, dear
For a love that’s growing strong

– instrumental –

The sun is up, dear, that I can see
I see sunbeams falling to the ground
It’s raining sunny days for you and me
Any dark or bright day you’re around

Cloudy skies have disappeared, dear
I’m near to singing out with song
It’s raining sunny days of cheer, dear
For a love that’s growing strong

Sunny Arkansas Morning (Larry W. Jones 02/26/20070 (song#4450)

Well, it’s a sunny Arkansas morning
Afternoon’s gonna be sunny too
Yeah, it’s a sunny Arkansas morning
Afternoon’s gonna be sunny too

Well, I never did like rainy weather
I would run from every cloud I saw
Yeah, I never did like rainy weather
I would run from every cloud I saw
But now all I see is sunny weather
And I’m gonna ask your Ma and Pa
If they don’t mind as to whether
I take you away from Arkansas

Sun, keep shining instead of rain
Sun, keep shining instead of rain
I’m gonna take you back to Texas
Never gonna see Arkansas again

– instrumental –

Well, I saved my nickles and saved my dimes
Yeah, I saved my nickles and saved my dimes
I saved ’em for a cold rainy day
But when I saw you, the sun was climbin’
The sun chased the clouds away

But now all I see is sunny weather
And I’m gonna ask your Ma and Pa
If they don’t mind as to whether
I take you away from Arkansas

Sun, keep shining instead of rain
Sun, keep shining instead of rain
I’m gonna take you back to Texas
Never gonna see Arkansas again

Gonna Float Down A River (Larry W. Jones 02/26/2007) (song#4451)

Gonna float down a river
Float down it all day long
Cause my love’s an Indian giver
And she done me wrong

Gonna float down to the ocean
Sail out across the blue
Cause my heart has the notion
That I’m through with you

I remember the time when love words were spoken
My heart was sublime, and grey days were few
But now the words don’t rhyme and the song is broken
Love words unspoken, because of you

– instrumental –

Gonna float down a river
Float down it all day long
Cause my love’s an Indian giver
And she done me wrong

Gonna float down to the ocean
Sail out across the blue
Cause my heart has the notion
That I’m through with you

Summer Rose (Larry W. Jones 02/26/2007) (song#4452)

Once a bluebird loved a summer rose
But his song turned despondent eventually
Oh, my summer rose, your blush I see
But I cannot stay, for winter’s near
Oh, my summer rose, my lovely flower
From your bower I must fly, my dear

Came the springtime and the bluebird returned
For his summer rose his poor heart yearned
From a tree he sang his summer song in vain
For his summer rose he could not find again
The winter snows had come and oh, the pity
There lay froze, the summer rose, once pretty

Goodbye, summer rose, the sun is shining
For you, my love, my broken heart is pining
Now summer’s gone, winter snows’ domain
Perhaps another spring and a seed will grow
And I will sing to my summer rose again

Buenos Noches Senorita (Larry W. Jones 02/26/20070 (song#4453)

A full Texas moon is shining on old El Paso
Its beams are lining banks where the Rio flows
Whippoorwills are calling from the valley below
El Paso night has come and we must part

But senorita, let me hold you in one embrace
My heart with yours has found a resting place
A full Texas moon lights the love in your face
Like the reflection of a mirror of your heart

Bright Texas stars shine from heavens above
My heart no longer must pine for the one I love
Cottonwood trees invite the cooing turtle dove
To come to her nest as the shadows creep

Listen to the stillness of the Texas desert air
Know that flowers grow even in darkness there
Oh why, my darling, leave this place so rare
Though now has arrived the time of sleep

Buenos noches, senorita, the shadows fall
Bright Texas stars above will be watching all
See the dying embers of the Texas sun’s glow
Listen to the night winds as they whisper low

Buenos noches, senorita, good night
Buenos noches, senorita, my love
Buenos noches, senorita, my love

High Trail And The Low (Larry W. Jones 02/26/2007) (song#4454)

Darlin’, how can I forget you
Darlin’, how can I forget you
I can’t forget what we vowed that day
To love one another come what may
And we vowed we’d never say goodbye

Now it seems that was so long ago
How dreams are forgotten, I’ll never know
There’s no use to ask or wonder why
This adios and goodbye I offer with a sigh
Darlin’, how did we let a good love die

Though this is the end of giving
Could it also be the end of living

Darlin’, you’ll be riding the high trail
But I can tell I’ll be riding the low
The time has come that we be parted
Broken hearted, that I know
So, I beg one kiss before we go
On the high trail and the low

– instrumental –

Though this is the end of giving
Could it also be the end of living

Darlin’, you’ll be riding the high trail
But I can tell I’ll be riding the low
The time has come that we be parted
Broken hearted, that I know
So, I beg one kiss before we go
On the high trail and the low

Date With A Honky Tonk Angel (Larry W. Jones 02/27/2007) (song#4455)

I’ve got a date with a honky tonk angel
Can’t wait to meet her at Joe’s at seven
I’ve got a date with a honky tonk angel
Feel like I’m goin’ to honky tonk heaven

She’ll be doin’ the two step beside me
There’s nothin’ she’s ever denied me
She’s a honky tonk angel to guide me
Feel like I’m goin’ to honky tonk heaven

We’ll listen to that old juke box ring out
When those good ‘ol Texas boys sing out
And old Bob Wills’ playboys swing out
Honky tonk angel in honky tonk heaven

– instrumental –

We’ll listen to that old juke box ring out
When those good ‘ol Texas boys sing out
And old Bob Wills’ playboys swing out
Honky tonk angel in honky tonk heaven

I’ve got a date with a honky tonk angel
Can’t wait to meet her at Joe’s at seven
I’ve got a date with a honky tonk angel
Feel like I’m goin’ to honky tonk heaven

Old Grandfather Clock (Larry W. Jones 02/27/20070 (song#4454)

The old grandfather clock stood by the door
For ninety years it tocked and not one more
It was first wound the day of his first breath
And it wound down on the day of his death
That old grandfather clock was his pride
Faithfully it ticked and tocked until he died

Ninety years of faithful chiming
Tick, tock, tick, tock, tick tock
His whole life eventually timing
Tick, tock, tick, tock, tick tock
That was the way the clock would divide
Every minute of every day until he died

As a boy, he watched the pendulum swing to and fro
In childhood and manhood, the clock seemed to know
The clock shared both his grief and his greatest joy
For one day it chimed out twelve twice at twenty four
That was the day he brought through the door his bride
And it never stopped chiming until the day he died

The clock rang an alarm at the stroke of midnight
An alarm that had never before been heard
It was a signal that the old man gave up the fight
And everybody knew without saying a word

Ninety years of faithful chiming
Tick, tock, tick, tock, tick tock
His whole life eventually timing
Tick, tock, tick, tock, tick tock
That was the way the clock would divide
Every minute of every day until he died

Gray Morning (Larry W. Jones 02/27/2007) (song#4455)

Slowly the night shadows disappear
And slowly the prairie is seen so clear
In among the hills a whippoorwill trills
Here in the light of a gray morning

Ever lighter the morning glows
Ever brighter the morning rose
From the night shadows and gloom
The morning rose bursts into bloom

But a gray morning has come
Though the sun is ascending
For the whippoorwill’s song
Has sad notes in it blending

It tells of a yearning and longing
A message so heartless of warning
That a love is no more belonging
Here in the light of a gray morning

Slowly the night shadows disappear
And slowly the prairie is seen so clear
In among the hills a whippoorwill trills
Here in the light of a gray morning

Eight By Ten Face (Larry W. Jones 02/27/2007) (song#4456)

I’ve still got the eight by ten of when you were here
It’s a treasure that I’ll keep until the day I die
But there’s no happiness in this eight by ten, dear
Because you took it all away when you said goodbye

Your hair looks just as gold as it did back then
Before love turned as cold as this eight by ten
But that love I just can’t seem to erase
When I kiss your sweet eight by ten face

– instrumental –

Ever since that day when you broke my heart
There’s been a river of tears from my eyes
It’s been so long since we’ve been apart
But there’s something that I’ve realized

Your hair looks just as gold as it did back then
Before love turned as cold as this eight by ten
But that love I just can’t seem to erase
When I kiss your sweet eight by ten face

No, that love I just can’t seem to erase
When I kiss your sweet eight by ten face

Galveston Harbor Lights (Larry W. Jones 02/27/2007) (song#4457)

Galveston harbor lights
Lit up the waves as you were leaving
Galveston harbor lights
Were there to watch you go
Now in dark Texas nights
I feel the waves of grieving
Under Galveston harbor lights
On the Gulf of Mexico

I guess I’ll never know
Where you’ll be when dawn is breaking
But this I’ll ever know
My broken heart will be forever aching
No more kiss at night
No arms to hold me as before
No more sweet delight
On the gulf of Texas shore

Galveston harbor lights
Lit up the waves as you were leaving
Galveston harbor lights
Were there to watch you go
Now in dark Texas nights
I feel the waves of grieving
Under Galveston harbor lights
On the Gulf of Mexico

Hole In My Ace In The Hole (Larry W. Jones 02/27/20070 (song#4458)

I thought I had an ace in the hole
I thought I knew how to roll with the flow
So I took a gamble on a sure thing, as they say
But then I had to scramble just to get away

I know I played my cards right
But there was one thing I didn’t know
She left me crying in the night
I had a hole in my ace in the hole

Sometimes love is like a one way street
But there’s two ways that love can go
By the time I knew I felt the pain
It was like money down the drain
Through a hole in my ace in the hole

– instrumental –

Sometimes love is like a one way street
But there’s two ways that love can go
By the time I knew I felt the pain
It was like money down the drain
Through a hole in my ace in the hole

Well, I thought I was a big time broker
But in love I was on the dole
Now I know I was just the big joker
With a hole in my ace in the hole

Anywhere In Texas (Larry W. Jones 02/27/2007) (song#4459)

Are you going to east Texas
Where the piney woods are green
I’d like to see the Big Thicket
Hear the crickets that I’ve seen

Are you going to far west Texas
Where El Paso meets the Rio Grande
I’d like to see El Paso and the Rio
If you would please hold my hand

Are you going to big Dallas
Where the cowboys say howdy do
I’d like to see ‘ol Big-D
Take in a big ‘ol rodeo or two

I’d like to go with you, baby
All around that lone star state
From Amarillo to Louisiana
From El Paso to Texarkana
Baby, anything it takes

– instrumental –

I’d like to go with you, baby
All around that lone star state
From Amarillo to Louisiana
From El Paso to Texarkana
Baby, anything it takes

If you’re going anywhere in Texas
I know I’d like the view
Cause I’d go anywhere in Texas
Just so I could be with you

All By My Lonesome (Larry W. Jones 02/27/2007) (song#4460)

All by my lonesome in the daytime
All by my lonesome when it’s night
Sitting all by my lonesome is no fun
Playing solitaire with a deck of fifty one
It just don’t seem right

All by my lonesome with nothing else
Except a lonesome clock upon the shelf
It has a face that it can keep to itself
I’m all by my lonesome by myself

– instrumental –

Sitting all by my lonesome is no fun
Playing solitaire with a deck of fifty one

All by my lonesome with nothing else
Except a lonesome clock upon the shelf
It has a face that it can keep to itself
I’m all by my lonesome by myself

Make Believe Rodeo (Larry W. Jones 02/27/2007) (song#4461)

I’ve got on my dressy cowboy boots
My shiny shark skin western suit
My wranger jeans, shirt and fancy bolo
I’m all duded up for a make believe rodeo

Now, I could go and play some pool
Over at Joe’s Place I’d look kinda cool
But then they might think I’m a fool
All duded up for a make believe rodeo

So I’ll just stay home and make believe
That there’s a pretty cowgirl by my side
That way nobody will have to ask me why
Why I’ve got all these tears in my eyes

I’ll just look at your old photograph
It’s in my bill fold somewhere I know
But then I might see you laugh, because
I’m all duded up for a make believe rodeo

– instrumental –

So I’ll just stay home and make believe
That there’s a pretty cowgirl by my side
That way nobody will have to ask me why
Why I’ve got all these tears in my eyes

I’ll just look at your old photograph
It’s in my bill fold somewhere I know
But then I might see you laugh, because
I’m all duded up for a make believe rodeo

Precious Rose (Larry W. Jones 02/27/2007) (song#4462)

A precious rose should grow
In the glow of morning light
Not under the smoky glow
Of a midnight neon light

A precious rose should feel
The touch of love that’s real
Something not found in a bar
Or in strings of a steel guitar

But you are my precious rose
And I want everyone to know
No matter from where the glow
I love you, my precious rose

– instrumental –

But you are my precious rose
And I want everyone to know
No matter from where the glow
I love you, my precious rose

Old Memories Of You Are Hard To Hold (Larry W. Jones 02/27/2007) (song#4463)

Another night of crying will be over soon
Thank goodness for a day that’s brand new
Another day of trying to escape the cold
Old memories of you are hard to hold

Memories are only seconds one by one
Memories of you are minutes of a song
Memories turn into hours once begun
My memories of you last all day long

I still have your memory inside my heart
Most of them are the color of pure gold
But my color’s blue since we’re apart
Old memories of you are hard to hold

– instrumental –

Memories are only seconds one by one
Memories of you are minutes of a song
Memories turn into hours once begun
My memories of you last all day long

I still have your memory inside my heart
Most of them are the color of pure gold
But my color’s blue since we’re apart
Old memories of you are hard to hold

Everything That Was Right Got Up And Left (Larry W. Jones 02/27/2007) (song#4464)

When into my lonely life you came
It was really something to proclaim
But now that both of us are apart
Both of us have a broken heart
And I proclaim that I’m to blame

Everything that was right got up and left
The best girl in the whole world is gone
I thought I was right but I’m by myself
Everything that was right got up and left
It’s only right that I’m left here alone

What right does a man have to be right all the time
When all he might do is lose the one he adores
Now at night I feel like I’ve done some kind of crime
And I must be right because she left out the door

– instrumental –

What right does a man have to be right all the time
Now at night I feel like I’ve done some kind of crime

Everything that was right got up and left
The best girl in the whole world is gone
I thought I was right but I’m by myself
Everything that was right got up and left
It’s only right that I’m left here alone

Most Of Me Loves Most Of You (Larry W. Jones 02/27/2007) (song#4465)

Darlin’, most of me loves most of you
Mostly because I love all of you most of all
Darlin’, my eyes are mostly fixed on you
And my heart mostly ticks for your loving call

I used to search from coast to coast
But finding love was like searching for a ghost
Then I met you and that’s when I knew
Darlin’, most of me loves most of you

Oh, I had heard many tender words
But something was always missing
Then a bluebird’s tender song was heard
And I felt the splendor of your kissing

– instrumental –

Then a bluebird’s tender song was heard
And I felt the splendor of your kissing

Darlin’, most of me loves most of you
Mostly because I love all of you most of all
Darlin’, my eyes are mostly fixed on you
And my heart mostly ticks for your loving call

I used to search from coast to coast
But finding love was like searching for a ghost
Then I met you and that’s when I knew
Darlin’, most of me loves most of you

All My Lone Stars Are Gone (Larry W. Jones 02/28/2007) (song#4466)

All the country stars are in the bars
And all my Lone Stars are gone
All the gang stopped by just to say hi
And talk over old times that are past
They got a bang out of it and so did I
Sharing my Lone Stars was a blast

When they all said bye, the fridge was dry
And I was getting ready to go to sleep alone
But the last song on the radio made me cry
All the country stars are in the bars
All the country stars are in the bars
And all my Lone Stars are gone

– instrumental –

I used to feel like the star in a bar
But I don’t feel that way anymore
Now I stay at home with my Lone Stars
Cause night and day I miss you more

All the old gang are the country stars
I just tell them I’ve found somebody new
But I’m really talkin’ bout my Lone Stars
Cause you’re not here for me to talk to you

All the country stars are in the bars
And all my Lone Stars are gone

All My Blues Are Over Now (Larry W. Jones 02/28/2007) (song#4467)

Today you said you love me
And all my blues are over now
Never go away and leave me
That would not be true anyhow

Today you said there is no other
I will hold you to that sacred vow
Your love dispels my every bother
And all my blues are over now

– instrumental –

Today you said there is no other
I will hold you to that sacred vow
Your love dispels my every bother
And all my blues are over now

Say hello to all good fortune
I’ll thank all creation somehow
It’s good to know love has begun
And all my blues are over now
Yes, all my blues are over now

One Who Owns The Heart Of Me (Larry W. Jones 02/28/2007) (song#4468)

I could leave if I pleased
I could be as free as the breeze in the trees
But islands calling from the seven seas
Could never call sweet enough
For me to leave the one who owns the heart of me

There’s guiding stars both large and small
There’s far away islands with a siren call
But islands calling from the seven seas
Could never call sweet enough
For me to leave the one who owns the heart of me

– instrumental –

Trails that lead a man to roam
Ships that sail across the foam
Only a foolish person would I be
To leave what here is dear to me
And islands calling from the seven seas
Could never call sweet enough
For me to leave the one who owns the heart of me

Along The Brazos (Larry W. Jones 02/28/2007) (song#4469)

You and I grew up in Waco along the Brazos
We were happy friends back then with no load
We’d float down along the bend in the Brazos
And race each other back along the dusty road

I bought five acres along the Brazos
And we talked about our future plans
You were like the free flowing Brazos
And that’s how your roaming began

– instrumental –

Now when I walk down along the Brazos
I think back of how things had been
How long must I walk along this dusty road
Before I’ll see you coming round the bend

I built a ranch house on five acres
Down along the Brazos like I said
How long must I wait along the Brazos
Before you and I are wed

How long must I wait along the Brazos
Before you and I are wed

Purple Grows The Sage (Larry W. Jones 02/28/2007) (song#4470)

Purple grows the sage
Covered by morning dew
I’m in mourning, my darling
By the parting of you
But should we meet again
I’ll beg you to be true
Purple grows the sage
Royal color of love we knew

Purple grows the sage
To remind me of royal love
The kind that can only be blessed
From skies above
The prairie stage is wide enough
For dreamers too
Purple grows the sage
Royal color of love we knew

Purple grows the sage
Wind waving every hour
Sweet is its perfume
Like a lovely prairie flower
Oh, please turn a page
And return to love true
Purple grows the sage
Royal color of love we knew

Forever In My Heart (Larry W. Jones 02/28/2007) (song#4471)

Darling, you will be forever in my heart
Even though I may be far away
The music of our song of love will start
The one, darling, that I sang to you

You will be forever in my heart
You will hear our song when skies are gray
Darling, just remember that I care
And you will see fair skies breaking through

– instrumental –

Every night before I go to bed
I repeat the lovers vows we said
And dreams in the night that come
I hold close though we’re apart

When you and I meet again, dear
My same love will begin again, dear
And until that sweet rendezvous
Darling, you will be forever in my heart

Darling, you will be forever in my heart

Right On Time With Sweet Kisses (Larry W. Jones 02/28/2007) (song#4472)

You’re always right on time with sweet kisses
Everytime I hold you in my arms
I enfold all your charms and beg you stay

You’re always right on time with sweet kisses
My heart will never sound alarm
As long as you treat me in your sweet way

– instrumental –

You’re always right on time with sweet kisses
My heart will never sound alarm
As long as you treat me in your sweet way

Since I found you, I no longer have to wait
The way that I used to do
You’re always right on time with sweet kisses
It’s great to be in love with you

Rambling Vine (Larry W. Jones 02/28/2007) (song#4473)

Ramble back to me, rambling vine
Ramble only to me, rambling vine
How I yearn to have your feet rambling by mine
Please return and ramble home to me, rambling vine

It’s hard to believe that love is gone and done
That you have rambled to a new one instead of mine
There can never be love as true as mine under the sun
Please return and ramble home to me, rambling vine

– instrumental –

There can never be love as true as mine under the sun
Please return and ramble home to me, rambling vine

Ramble back to me, rambling vine
Ramble only to me, rambling vine
Please return and ramble home to me, rambling vine

The Face Of You (Larry W. Jones 02/28/2007) (song#4474)

Now that you’ve found somebody new
I’ll have to stop my loving you
But I can’t seem to find a way
To end a love that once was true

There’s no one who I will ever find
Who could take the place of you
The one regret that will be mine
Is that I’ll not forget the face of you

– instrumental –

There’s no one who I will ever find
Who could take the place of you
The one regret that will be mine
Is that I’ll not forget the face of you

The day you left my love behind
I lost someone I thought divine
How I regret my losing you
I’ll not forget the face of you

I Don’t Worry About Another Bridge To Burn (Larry W. Jones 02/28/2007 ) (song#4475)

I was gettin’ good at burnin’ bridges that I crossed
I knew that I would have to burn more when I lost
But then I met you and my future took a good turn
Now I don’t worry about another bridge to burn

Well, I set a lot of bridges afire and I moved on
Some of them burned higher but none too long
But then I met you and there’s no way to return
Now I don’t worry about another bridge to burn

– instrumental –

Well, I set a lot of bridges afire and I moved on
Some of them burned higher but none too long
But then I met you and there’s no way to return
Now I don’t worry about another bridge to burn

I’ve been crossed by too many loves untrue
All of my dreams were lost until I found you
Your love replaces those bridges of no return
Now I don’t worry about another bridge to burn

Rosalie Rose (Larry W. Jones 02/28/2007) (song#4476)

Rosalie Rose, please be my darling
Rosalie Rose, won’t you please be my dream
Since that night in Texas when stars shone above
My delight so bright was for you to be my love

Oh Rosalie rose, have mercy on this heart of mine
Rosalie Rose, can’t you see, you must not decline
All my dreams would be so fulfilling
My whole life would be so thrilling
If you would give me just a little sign

– instrumental –

Oh Rosalie rose, have mercy on this heart of mine
Rosalie Rose, can’t you see, you must not decline
All my dreams would be so fulfilling
My whole life would be so thrilling
If you would give me just a little sign
Rosalie Rose
Rosalie Rose, rose of mine

Be Sure To Bury Me In Texas (Larry W. Jones 02/28/2007) (song#4477)

When I die, be sure to bury me in Texas
Cause that’s where real cowboys and cowgirls are
When I die, be sure to bury me in Texas
And on my stone carve for me a big ‘ol Texas star

I’ve been to New York City
But that old place stays too cold too long
I’ve been to Detroit City
But I never heard a jukebox country song

So, if I die along some lonesome trail
Just send me back to Texas in the mail
Send my wage to the overland stage in San Antone
I wanna be on hand to be raised in my Texas home

– instrumental –

So, if I die along some lonesome trail
Just send me back to Texas in the mail
Send my wage to the overland stage in San Antone
I wanna be on hand to be raised in my Texas home

When I die, be sure to bury me in Texas
Cause that’s where real cowboys and cowgirls are
When I die, be sure to bury me in Texas

As Long As It’s Written In Stone (Larry W. Jones 02/28/2007) (song#4478)

Any old time is a good time
If you decide to come back home
And old line is a good line
As long as it’s written in stone

You took a chance and went to play
And the way you played was so unfair
Though I know you’ve left, sweetheart
In my heart and thoughts, I do still care

I just don’t know what to do
Now that I find that you’re gone
Just drop me a line any old time
As long as it’s written in stone

– instrumental –

Any old time is a good time
If you decide to come back home
And old line is a good line
As long as it’s written in stone

Just drop me a line any old time
As long as it’s written in stone

Any Part Of Anything Of You (Larry W. Jones 02/28/2007) (song#4479)

I kept all the letters that you sent
I went to places where we went
I’m still looking everywhere too
For any part of anything of you

I kept your old pair of shoes
But they can’t repair my blues
I’m looking for my old heart too
For any part of anything of you

– instrumental –

I kept all the mem’ries I could store
Even, you don’t love me anymore
I’ll keep whatever you don’t need
Even though you don’t need me

Now, I’m looking for a reason to live
Cause I don’t have anything to give
I’d give anything, you know it’s true
For any part of anything of you

Down To Texas Where I’m Bound (Larry W. Jones 02/28/2007) (song#4480)

I’m sitting in the station in another dirty town
Looking through my tears as they tumble down
Waiting for a bus they call a big greyhound
To take me down to Texas where I’m bound

Where that old dog is going, I don’t give a hoot
Just as long as when I stop, I see cowboy boots
I can’t wait for that old hound to come around
To take me down to Texas where I’m bound

– instrumental –

Where that old dog is going, I don’t give a hoot
Just as long as when I stop, I see cowboy boots
I can’t wait for that old hound to come around
To take me down to Texas where I’m bound

I used to have a love that I could call my own
I heard that she’s somewhere around San Antone
Well, hello driver, get that big ‘ol diesel wound
To take me down to Texas where I’m bound

Texas Love (Larry W. Jones 02/28/2007) (song#4481)

A Texas love is for young, old and everyone
A Texas star becomes a wishing star for you
A Texas love is a wonder under the Texas sun
A cowgirl’s kiss makes a cowboy’s heart miss, it’s true

A Texas day in May will bring a rainbow’s showers
Everything’s in bloom, including bluebonnet flowers
Don’t let a Texas love slip right through your hands
Take your stand and put your brand on a Texas love

– instrumental –

A Texas love is a wonder under the Texas sun
A cowgirl’s kiss makes a cowboy’s heart miss, it’s true

A Texas day in May will bring a rainbow’s showers
Everything’s in bloom, including bluebonnet flowers
Don’t let a Texas love slip right through your hands
Take your stand and put your brand on a Texas love

Midland-Odessa Waltz (Larry W. Jones 02/28/2007) (song#4482)

I danced with a senorita under west Texas stars
Cowboys and gauchos were strumming guitars
They had us all humming such a beautiful waltz
It was out in west Texas, the Midland-Odessa waltz

The air was sweet and her lips whispered to me
Amor, amor mio, my love for you will always be
Then she was gone, I knew her words were false
As we danced to the Texas Midland-Odessa waltz

– instrumental –

The air was sweet and her lips whispered to me
Amor, amor mio, my love for you will always be
Then she was gone, I knew her words were false
As we danced to the Texas Midland-Odessa waltz

Then she was gone, I knew her words were false
As we danced to the Texas Midland-Odessa waltz

Room Full Of Roses (Larry W. Jones 03/02/2007) (song#4483)

Today I got another rose from you
Your note said I’d made you blue
Now I’ve got a room full of roses
The roses that you send are bright
But dear, you know it’s not right
To blame me when love’s door closes

As I look at these rose petals
Each one tears my heart apart
I wish that we could settle this
And maybe make a brand new start

Your note said I made you blue
That’s the way I’m feeling too
Dear, I don’t know what to do
With this room full of roses

Dear, if we could start anew
Love would replace what’s blue
Like this room full of roses
So, if you’re feeling that way too
Here is what I’ll say to you
Dear, my empty heart discloses
That my arms still have room for you

Another Broken Cowboy In Abilene (Larry W. Jones 03/02/2007) (song#4484)

Well, I rode into Abilene on the Chisholm trail
Three months fightin’ cows and rain and hail
Spent all my earnin’s somewhere in between
Another broken cowboy in Abilene

Well, I knocked around as best I could
Begged ’em all for work but nobody would
My stomach’s empty, saddlebags are lean
Another broken cowboy in Abilene

I can’t telegraph the folks back home that I failed
I’d rather be locked up in the Abilene jail
I might stay here and live on bread and beans
Another broken cowboy in Abilene

– instrumental –

I can’t telegraph the folks back home that I failed
I’d rather be locked up in the Abilene jail
I might stay here and live on bread and beans
Another broken cowboy in Abilene
Yeah, I’m just another broken cowboy in Abilene

I Don’t Have Another Heart That You Can Break (Larry W. Jones 03/02/2007) (song#4485)

Darlin’, I don’t have another heart that you can break
This one’s already broken and cannot smile
Even though a broken heart is so in style today
I wasn’t cool and I sure did play the fool
And I hope I don’t make the same mistake
Cause I don’t have another heart that you can break

– instrumental –

I wasn’t cool and I sure did play the fool
And I hope I don’t make the same mistake
Cause I don’t have another heart that you can break

Darlin’, I don’t know when your love for me died
But I know my heart is an empty shell inside
There’s nothing left for me but an empty memory
So darlin’, even if you came back again
I couldn’t win, and that would be another big mistake
Cause I don’t have another heart that you can break

I Don’t Have To Be Lonesome (Larry W. Jones 03/02/2007) (song#4486)

I don’t come here just to hear the jukebox
I’m just tryin’ to get a mem’ry off my mind
I just hang around with buddies at the bar
But I always leave when it’s closing time

I try to put on an act like a gentleman
My shirt is clean and free from grime
I’m not your average honky tonk hero
I just like company when it’s crying time

– instrumental –

I try to put on an act like a gentleman
My shirt is clean and free from grime
I’m not your average honky tonk hero
I just like company when it’s crying time

This way I don’t have to be lonesome
I could do that by myself at home
This way I don’t have to be lonesome
Cause lonesome’s what I’ve been too long

Whatever Your Heart Craves (Larry W. Jones 03/03/2007) (song#4487)

Dear, whatever your heart craves
I would be your slave, my love
Whatever in the world, to you I’d give
I’d unfurl the moonbeams up above

Now, I don’t own a moonlit view
Nor the stars up in the blue
But what I give is love that’s true
Dear, I will give you all my love

– instrumental –

Dear, whatever your heart craves
I would be your slave, my love

Now, I don’t own a moonlit view
Nor the stars up in the blue
But what I give is love that’s true
Dear, I will give you all my love

Last Trail Of Summer (Larry W. Jones 03/04/2007) (song#4488)

A time to be ropin’, a time to be brandin’
The last trail of summer is callin’ me home
I was then a young cowboy, a drover was I
When dogies were rompin’ under Wyomin’ skies

A time just for herdin’, a time few have known
A time to be singin’ a cowboy’s love song
I was then a young cowboy, full of laughter and mirth
I rode old cattle trails across the good earth

A time for corralin’, a time to be movin’ on
The last trail of summer is callin’ me home
I was then a young cowboy, a twinkle in my eye
Like the stars in the night time a-passin’ by

A time just for herdin’, a time long gone by
For cowboys to be livin’, for cowboys to die
I was then a young cowboy, full of laughter and mirth
Now, the last trail of summer is callin’ me home

I was then a young cowboy, full of laughter and mirth
Now, the last trail of summer is callin’ me home

April Roundup (Larry W. Jones 03/04/2007) (song#4489)

April trail, where did you disappear to
Wonderful April trail
Where have you gone

An April roundup was on
And I thought spring would forever dawn
But a young cowboy’s a dreamer
And when I opened my eyes
My April trail was gone

Old cowboys say, real love is hidden
Somewhere in late Autumn
After April’s roundup is passed
So, I’m looking to find
Somewhere upon prairies vast
An April roundup
That leaves old cowboys behind

– instrumental –

April trail, where did you disappear to
Wonderful April trail
Where have you gone

Old cowboys say, real love is hidden
Somewhere in late Autumn
After April’s roundup is passed
So, I’m looking to find
Somewhere upon prairies vast
An April roundup
That leaves old cowboys behind

Gypsy In My Cowboy Boots (Larry W. Jones 03/05/2007) (song#4490)

If I go riding fancy free
Like I don’t have no roots
It’s just the gypsy in my cowboy boots

A lonesome trail is calling me
One that has no roots
It’s just the gypsy in my cowboy boots

The only way to unleash my burning
Is to release my pony’s reins for running

Nothing can beat the cowboy life
I go where my six shooter shoots
It’s just the gypsy in my cowboy boots

No worries
No strings
My pony has wings

– instrumental –

If I go riding fancy free
Like I don’t have no roots
It’s just the gypsy in my cowboy boots

A lonesome trail is calling me
One that has no roots
It’s just the gypsy in my cowboy boots

The only way to unleash my burning
Is to release my pony’s reins for running

Nothing can beat the cowboy life
I go where my six shooter shoots
It’s just the gypsy in my cowboy boots
It’s just the gypsy in my cowboy boots

My Sweet Gypsy Cowgirl (Larry W. Jones 03/05/2007) (song#4491)

Whippoorwills on the prairie are calling for you
The purple sage in the glade looks so lonely
Summer is here for all glad hearts to cheer
And you are the one missing only

All the birds nesting in the cottonwood trees
Sing for you and wish to kiss you
All the desert roses yearn for your return
And most of all I miss you

Slumber on, my sweet gypsy cowgirl
Dream of the prairie and woodland cove
Can you see me, my sweet gypsy cowgirl
Wherever your dreams may rove

– instrumental –

Slumber on, my sweet gypsy cowgirl
My wild prairie dove
Listen to my heart song, my prairie pearl
For you are my love

The doe that you tamed has saddened eyes
Eyes that say you have been too long parted
Songs by the old corral of cowboys reprise
Somehow just don’t sound as light hearted

All the birds nesting in the cottonwood trees
Sing for you and wish to kiss you
All the desert roses yearn for your return
And most of all I miss you
My sweet gypsy cowgirl

Heart Now Put Out Your Flame (Larry W. Jones 03/05/2007) (song#4492)

Heart, now put out your flame
Heart, you know she is to blame
Her love’s not the same anymore

This new life to you I’ve shown now
I know you don’t like being alone now
You keep bringing up things you miss
And you keep singing about her kiss

Heart, now put out your flame
Heart, you know she is to blame
Her love’s not the same anymore

– instrumental –

Heart, I’m taking you to see the lights
Heart, now quit making lonely nights
You know I’ve gotta find somebody new
But heart, you keep me feeling so blue

Heart, now put out your flame
Heart, you know she is to blame
Her love’s not the same anymore

Heart, now try to forget the past
Heart, some things just never last
Her love’s not the same anymore

Somewhere Upon That Mountain (Larry W. Jones 03/05/2007) (song#4493)

As long as there’s a mountain
There’s gotta be a valley
And where there’s a mountain valley
There’s gotta be a stream that’s flowing free

As long as there’s a prairie
There’s gotta be a trail
And where there’s a prairie trail
There’s gotta be a destiny for you and me

Somewhere upon that mountain
Somewhere across that prairie
Somewhere down that valley stream
There’s gotta be a secret place
Where you and I will find our dream

– instrumental –

Somewhere upon that mountain
Somewhere across that prairie
Somewhere down that valley stream
There’s gotta be a secret place
Where you and I will find our dream

As Time Flies By (Larry W. Jones 03/05/2007) (song#4494)

Now lovers, in your mem’ries you must file
A smile is still a smile after all the miles
Such basic things apply as time flies by

Now when you lovers said, I do
You said that forever, I love you
On such basic things you must rely
As time flies by

Sunlight and moonlight sets the date
There’s only room for love, not hate
You must be kind to your mate
That you cannot deny

That same old love story
Is still found in life’s inventory
It’s there for every girl and guy
As time flies by

– instrumental –

Sunlight and moonlight sets the date
There’s only room for love, not hate
You must be kind to your mate
That you cannot deny

That same old love story
Is still found in life’s inventory
It’s there for every girl and guy
As time flies by

Around Sundown (Larry W. Jones 03/05/20070 (song#4495)

It’s that time of the evening again
When my mind starts to grieving again
Dreams begin weaving around sundown

It seems that you’re still near
But that dream was of yesteryear
I can’t seem to stop tears around sundown

That’s the time of the day
It’s sublime but I must say
The colors around sundown
Have all turned to grey

– instrumental –

It’s that time of the evening again
When my mind starts to grieving again
Dreams begin weaving around sundown

It seems that you’re still near
But that dream was of yesteryear
I can’t seem to stop tears around sundown
Around sundown
Around sundown…

Back To Western Trails (Larry W. Jones 03/05/2007) (song#4496)

If you see this sadness in my eyes
You might surmise why I have to leave
This city life I could never understand
There’s nothing here I want to see

So, I’m ridin’ back to western trails
Where grows the purple sage
Back to where the wind blows free
Back to another age

Yes, I’m ridin’ back to western trails
Where valley streams run steep
Back to where the whippoorwill
Will sing me into peaceful sleep

– instrumental –

Here most people never smile
Their looks are sad and cold
So, I’m ridin’ back to western trails
Back to where I left my soul

So, I’m ridin’ back to western trails
Where grows the purple sage
Back to where the wind blows free
Back to another age

Yes, I’m ridin’ back to western trails
Where valley streams run steep
Back to where the whippoorwill
Will sing me into peaceful sleep

Good Good Day For Me (Larry W. Jones 03/05/2007) (song#4497)

This has been a good, good day for me
Yes, it’s been a good, good day for me
My darlin’ said she’s on her way
There’s nothing left for me to say
This has been a good, good day for me

The sun is shining in the sky, I see
No more tears I have to weep
This has been a good, good day for me

Anywhere I walk, sunshine greets me
I don’t even balk when trouble meets me
Just how sweet can really sweet be
My darlin’ said she’s on her way
This has been a good, good day for me

There’s nothing left of my old used to be
It sure feels good to be out of the cold
This has been a good, good day for me

– instrumental –

Anywhere I walk, sunshine greets me
I don’t even balk when trouble meets me
Just how sweet can really sweet be
My darlin’ said she’s on her way
This has been a good, good day for me

There’s nothing left of my old used to be
It sure feels good to be out of the cold
This has been a good, good day for me
This has been a good, good day for me
Yes siree…

Apply Some TLC To My Heart (Larry W. Jones 03/06/2007) (song#4498)

Apply some TLC to my heart
Can’t you see it’s breaking apart
My heart feels like it’s been burned
Just like a lover who’s been spurned
Apply some tender loving care
Some TLC to my heart

You said your love for me was strong
So, what was it that went wrong
You should have said goodbye at the start
Can’t you see you made me cry
But I’ll still take you back if you apply
Apply some TLC to my heart

– instrumental –

My heart feels like it’s been burned
Just like a lover who’s been spurned

You said your love for me was strong
So, what was it that went wrong
You should have said goodbye at the start
Can’t you see you made me cry
But I’ll still take you back if you apply
Apply some TLC to my heart

Orchid And The Rose (Larry W. Jones 03/06/2007) (song#4499)

The velvet shade of night that’s falling
Bids goodbye to the sun in the west
And as I drift off to sleep, I see
The one who makes my life feel blessed
She has the beauty of the orchid there
And perfume of roses that fill the air

Now, the orchid will lose its splendor
And the rose will wilt when you’re away
The moon at night hides out of sight
Because it knows I miss you each day
My garden knows what all know is true
Because the orchid and the rose are you

The orchid and the rose are you, dear
You grow in my garden of love
The flowers tell a story that’s so clear
Of someone from heaven above
And the story is of beauty true
For the orchid and the rose are you
For the orchid and the rose are you

My Pony And Me (Larry W. Jones 03/06/2007) (song#4500)

Sometimes a cowboy gets lonely
The way a cowboy’s life can be
Here I go riding through life only
With just my pony and me

But I try not to worry
Though at times I’m sad
I don’t ride trails in a hurry
Take the good with the bad

Over cattle trails I wander
Under skies grey or fair
Chasing dreams over yonder
Tomorrow I’ll be there

One horse town or Dodge City
Never know where I’ll be
But I ain’t lookin’ for pity
For my pony and me

Here we go, just us two
Wandering trails so free
Out here, needs are few
For my pony and me

We’ve ridden trails together
From mountains to the sea
At home in sage and heather
Just my pony and me

Over cattle trails I wander
Under skies grey or fair
Chasing dreams over yonder
Tomorrow I’ll be there

New Time Zone (Larry W. Jones 03/07/2007) (song#4501)

I saw a big eight wheeler comin’ down the track
With the whistle blowin’ and a flamin’ stack
And it was travelin’ on, to a new time zone
That was all I had to see, and it called to me
My new home, you see, is a hundred box cars long
And I’m travelin’ on, to some new time zone

Now, that woman of mine and I were doin’ fine
But she got to drinkin’ a little too much wine
And talkin’ on the phone, until the early dawn
I didn’t know it then, but it was not her kin
She done her daddy wrong, and I’m now long gone
I’m in my new home, a hundred box cars long

I asked the engineer nice, blow the whistle twice
So she can hear it moan, as I’m travelin’ on
Now, all you guys at home who’s payin’ the price
For a two timin’ woman who’s love is cold as ice
Better take my advice and treat the engineer nice
In your new found home, a hundred box cars long

I gave no regard stoppin’ at the switchin’ yard
I’m through with bein’ hitched, my heart is scarred
And I’m travelin’ on, to some new time zone
I hopped a big eight wheeler comin’ down the track
With the whistle blowin’ and a flamin’ stack
Now I’m a-travelin’ on, to a new time zone
Travelin’ on, to a new time zone
Travelin’ on, to a new time zone
Travelin’ on…

Half The Heart (Larry W. Jones 03/07/2007) (song#4502)

Dear, I know that you don’t love me
Half as much as you used to do
It’s in plain view for all to see
You’ve got half a mind to say adieu

But if you can’t make up your mind
With half a mind saying yes and no
Then maybe it’s because you find
You don’t have half the heart to go

Dear, now I can’t make up your mind
But to your other half I want to say
Don’t think too fast that you’re not mine
Use half the heart that tells you stay

– instrumental –

Dear, now I can’t make up your mind
But to your other half I want to say
Don’t think too fast that you’re not mine
Use half the heart that tells you stay

In time, if you’ve got half the mind
You could think it through very slow
And then dear, maybe you would find
Love in the other half the heart will grow

My Whole Heart’s In Texas (Larry W. Jones 03/07/2007) (song#4503)

Dear, ever since you left for Tennessee
Things here in Texas aren’t the same
My friends have seen the change in me
And they all say that it’s a shame

I just can’t understand the chill
That cooled your love so suddenly
Now my whole heart’s in Texas still
But my mind’s on you in Tennessee

Darlin’, my whole heart’s in Texas
That’s the part of me that’s blue
But my mind’s up there in Tennessee
I’m all torn apart because of you

– instrumental –

Darlin’, my whole heart’s in Texas
That’s the part of me that’s blue
But my mind’s up there in Tennessee
I’m all torn apart because of you

I can’t think straight, something’s missing
But I don’t have to wonder what it could be
I know that my whole heart’s in Texas
And that my mind’s on you in Tennessee
My whole heart’s in Texas
My mind’s on you in Tennessee

Back In Texas So Far Away (Larry W. Jones 03/08/2007) (song#4504)

I guess I’ll just be a rover
She only wanted a friend, so I couldn’t stay
She took me half way to paradise
Back in Texas so far away

I still picture her lips against mine
But I suppose they wouldn’t stay
She took me half way to paradise
Back in Texas so far away

Being where she is was like heaven
Back in Texas where I long to be so much
I guess I’ll just be a rover
Her heart is something that I couldn’t touch

– instrumental –

I still picture her lips against mine
But I suppose they wouldn’t stay
She took me half way to paradise
Back in Texas so far away

Being where she is was like heaven
Back in Texas where I long to be so much
I guess I’ll just be a rover
Her heart is something that I couldn’t touch

Back in Texas so far away
Back in Texas so far away
Back in Texas so far away

Hoofprints Across The Border (Larry W. Jones 03/08/2007) (song#4505)

Hoofprints across the border
Hoofprints that lead to the start
Of fond and loving memories

Hoofprints across the border
The tracks lead back to a heart
That put my heart so at ease

I left hoofprints across the border
Because you and I had to part
One day soon my heart will order
My pony back across the border to you

– instrumental –

I left hoofprints across the border
Because you and I had to part
One day soon my heart will order
My pony back across the border to you

Hoofprints across the border
Where dreams were made to order
Hoofprints lead to our rendezvous
Back across the border to you

Arms Back To Yesterday (Larry W. Jones 03/08/2007) (song#4506)

If I could only reach out
With my arms back to yesterday
I would hold you, there’s no doubt
And I would not let you get away
If I could only reach out
With my arms back to yesterday

My lips would go there too
With my arms back to yesterday
So I could say sweet things to you
All the things I used to say
If I could only reach out
With my arms back to yesterday

But darling, you’re so far away
It would be like crossing the sea
And I can’t reach back to yesterday
Too much time between you and me

If I could only reach out
With my arms back to yesterday
There’s not much that I can do
Except to hope and maybe pray
And the only way that I can cope
Is to wait right here today for you

Across The Prairie Of Dreams Larry W. Jones 03/08/2007) (song#4507)

When day is done and the world is still
Prairie dogs scurry among rock and rill
A western sun sets the purple sage aglow
A desert breeze whispers of the long ago
And voices from yesterday calls, it seems
Across the prairie of dreams

Stars are angels eyes watching from above
A whippoorwill sings his lowly song of love
A velvet mantle settles o’re the lone prairie
Sleep’s haze brings mem’ries of you and me
Drifting along where the tumbleweeds roll
I drift off in dreams like a new born foal
A vision of you dances in moonlight beams
Across the prairie of dreams

Back through years of happiness and tears
I ride all the trails of sorrow and cheers
A cowboy’s life brings all things supreme
Across the prairie of dreams

Henry The Horned Toad (Larry W. Jones 03/08/2007) (song#4508)

Henry was a young horned toad
Living out in the Texas west
Henry lived in a desert abode
And Henry was so depressed

Henry never could get a toady date
Out in the desert Texas night
With the girlie toads he didn’t rate
They all scurried out of sight

He was a loner at the ring road dance
His only chance was to string along
But the girlie toads gave no glance
So, Henry would scurry on home alone

Lounging in his desert abode
Henry wondered if it was what he ate
And why a Texas horned toad
Just couldn’t seem to ever get a date

Henry’s toady friends all knew
But none would ever look him in the eyes
Poor Henry didn’t have a clue
That he looked like the devil in disguise

When The Mockingbird Of Texas Sings (Larry W. Jones 03/08/2007) (song#4509)

Bright Texas stars and the moon are shining
Down on the purple sage of the prairie plain
Now, I can’t complain but I sure am pining
For a Texas love that I may never see again

Oh, I remember the day when I met her
I thought she wore a pair of angel’s wings
And there’s no way that I can forget her
When the Mockingbird of Texas sings

I left when the stars and moon were shining
I had to ride to the roundup in the spring
I returned to find her gone, my heart’s dying
Now, only the Mockingbird of Texas sings

Oh, I remember the day when I met her
I thought she wore a pair of angel’s wings
And there’s no way that I can forget her
When the Mockingbird of Texas sings

Spring is the time when doves are mating
She said when I returned, love she’d bring
With heart burning she’ll find me waiting
When the Mockingbird of Texas sings

Oh, I remember the day when I met her
I thought she wore a pair of angel’s wings
And there’s no way that I can forget her
When the Mockingbird of Texas sings

I Have Been Lonely (Larry W. Jones 03/08/2007) (song#4510)

Yes dear, I have been lonely
Yes dear, I have been blue
But I’ve never loved someone
As much as I love you

You tell me that you’re sorry
For each mistake you’ve made
You tell me that you’ve changed, dear
But I’m the one who paid

Now, I’ll be a little forgiving
But you’ve got to do your part
If together we go on living
Instead of being apart

You don’t know what I’ve been through
And that’s why I’m telling you
Yes dear, I have been lonely
Yes dear, I have been blue

– instrumental –

Now, I’ll be a little forgiving
But you’ve got to do your part
If together we go on living
Instead of being apart

You don’t know what I’ve been through
And that’s why I’m telling you
Yes dear, I have been lonely
Yes dear, I have been blue

This Long Tall Texan’s In Love With You (Larry W. Jones 03/08/2007) (song#4511)

Have you got any Alamos, darlin’
That you want me to remember
Are there any bad banditos, darlin’
That you want me to dismember

I’ll just pull on my cowboy boots
And I’ll put on my duster suit
Then I’ll get my six shooter that shoots
And pow, pow, pow, they’ll bite the dust

Have you a King Ranch mortgage, darlin’
That you need paid off ahead
Do you need some graves dug, darlin’
For villians that will soon be dead

After this Long Tall Texan is through
And I squash an Alamo villian or two
Darlin’, you can tell your daddy that it’s true
This Long Tall Texan’s in love with you

Cold As The Ashes In The Snow (Larry W. Jones 03/09/2007) (song#4512)

It’s cold up here when the snow begins to blow
The geese have flown because I watched them go
There’s something you didn’t tell me but now I know
Your love turned as cold as the ashes in the snow

You were here beside me when the grass was green
Then something happened and you were seldom seen
Dear, I wish you would have stayed to make love grow
Your love turned as cold as the ashes in the snow

Cold as the ashes in the snow
Your love turned as cold as the ashes in the snow

You were here beside me when the flowers bloomed
Dear, I never suspected that our love was doomed
I still miss your warm kiss dear, even though I know
Your love turned as cold as the ashes in the snow

Cold as the ashes in the snow
Your love turned as cold as the ashes in the snow
Your love turned as cold as the ashes in the snow

If You Look Deep In Your Heart (Larry W. Jones 03/09/2007) (song#4513)

Darlin’, if you look deep in your heart
I’m sure you’ll find a memory there
The flame’s not as hot as at the start
But you might find that you still care
If you look deep in your heart

Darlin’, if you recall all your dreams
I’m sure you’ll see me driftin’ through
In the ones where moonlight gleams
Back when all of our skies were blue
If you look deep in your dreams

When evening velvet shadows fall
That’s when tears start falling down
Darlin’, if you look deep in your heart
You’ll know I still need you around

Darlin’, now that we’re so far apart
I wonder if I’ll ever see your return
I’ll be glad to send to you a chart
You’ll see that my love still burns
If you look deep in your heart

On Top Of The T In Texas (Larry W. Jones 03/11/2007) (song#4514)

I’ve got me a chart that’s written on my heart
I’ve been to every part of the USA
But there’s one state that is more than great
And I’m goin’ back there to stay

I’m gonna be on top of the T in Texas
Tyler, Temple, Turkey, it don’t matter to me
I’m gonna be on top of the world in Texas
On top of the T in Texas is where I’ll be

– instrumental –

Now, the T in Texas stands for Texas toast
Cause Texas is the toast of the whole USA
I’ve been from Maine to the Cali-for-nee coast
The place I miss the most is the Lone Star state

I’m gonna be on top of the T in Texas
Tyler, Temple, Turkey, it don’t matter to me
I’m gonna be on top of the world in Texas
On top of the T in Texas is where I’ll be

On top of the T in Texas is where I’ll be

Just In Time In Her Justin Boots (Larry W. Jones 03/13/2007) (song#4514)

I was relaxing very comfortably
Face down on the barroom floor
Just enjoying the time peacefully
Not too far from the barroom door
Somebody ought to pay his tab
I heard one of my best friends say
Somebody ought to call a cab
Cause he can’t go on this way…then

Just in time in her Justin boots
She found me just in time
Before she came I was feeling low
She must have seen my dust and roots
She found me just in time, I know
Just in time in her Justin boots

Now that cowgirl’s mine and I’m a new man
No more bars and honky tonk scars
No more being trampled in rodeo chutes
She found me just in time
Just in time in her Justin boots
Just in time in her Justin boots

She Broke My Heart In Texas (Larry W. Jones 03/14/2007) (song#4515)

I was a young cowboy, excited by her touch
When I kissed her under that Texas sky
Later on I knew that I’d been in her clutch
Cause soon I saw she was out of sight

She broke my heart in Texas
I think she just wanted to see me groan
She broke my heart in Texas
In Amarillo, Austin and San Antone

She led me on a wild goose chase
My neck was in her noose
The way she done was a disgrace
It was just low down abuse

– instrumental –

She led me on a wild goose chase
My neck was in her noose
The way she done was a disgrace
It was just low down abuse

She broke my heart in Texas
I think she just wanted to see me groan
She broke my heart in Texas
In Amarillo, Austin and San Antone

She broke my heart in Texas
In Amarillo, Austin and San Antone

Serenade Beside The Alamo (Larry W. Jones 03/14/2007) (song#4516)

Listen to my song, senorita
Listen to my song beneath the stars
Come to me, sweet senorita
Listen to the Mariachi soft guitars

Serenade beside the Alamo
Listen as they play soft and low
A song that lovers have sung
Since years of long ago

– instrumental –

Listen to my song, senorita
Listen to my song beneath the moon
Come to me, sweet senorita
Listen to guitars this night in June

Serenade beside the Alamo
While soft Texas breezes blow
A song that lovers have sung
Since years of long ago

Serenade beside the Alamo
While soft Texas breezes blow
A song that lovers have sung
Since years of long ago

X At The End Of Tex (Larry W. Jones 03/14/2007) (song#4517)

Well, I was travelin’ in another state
When a man asked me where I was from
As to why he inquired, I can’t relate
But I replied to him, now listen son

I put my X at the end of Tex in the middle of Texas
Somewhere around old San Antone
I put my X at the end of Tex in the middle of Texas
But anywhere in Texas is my home

But he said to me, I just don’t see
How an X can be in two places
At one and the same time
And how can you put an X with the same old X
And still make it rhyme
That’s got to be a dictionary crime

Written on my heart is a big ‘ol chart
It’s a Texas map that only I can see
And on that chart is a big ‘ol dart
Where X marks the spot in Texas for me
So I drew him a map, put it in his lap so he could see
That the X at the end of Tex
Is the same X that’s in the middle of Texas, yes siree

– instrumental –

I put my X at the end of Tex in the middle of Texas
Somewhere around old San Antone
I put my X at the end of Tex in the middle of Texas
But anywhere in Texas is my home
X marks the spot in Texas for me
Yes siree!

Greatest Sorrow Of All (Larry W. Jones 03/15/2007) (song#4518)

Sometimes you feel glad
Sometimes you feel sad
Sometimes life isn’t worthwhile
Things can make you so mad
Some things just don’t add
And then sorrow replaces a smile

There are sorrows we know
Through the years as we go
Some of them we can’t explain
Like, why do sorrows cling
And sunshine never bring
A red rose instead of the rain

There’s sorrow when you’re lonely
And when you’re far from home
There’s sorrow when a mother’s only
Son decides it’s time to roam

There’s sorrow when sweethearts quarrel
And all those tears start to fall
But when you lose someone sweet as laurel
That’s the greatest sorrow of all

– instrumental –

There’s sorrow when you’re lonely
And when you’re far from home
There’s sorrow when a mother’s only
Son decides it’s time to roam

There’s sorrow when sweethearts quarrel
And all those tears start to fall
But when you lose someone sweet as laurel
That’s the greatest sorrow of all

This Cowboy’s Growing Old (Larry W. Jones 03/15/2007) (song#4519)

I want to find, true love that’s mine
I’m just a cowboy who’s growing old
I must be blind, I’ll never find
True love that I can have and hold
And this cowboy’s growing old
True love that I can have and hold
And this cowboy’s growing old

I’ve been to Texas, don’t know where next is
I’m just a cowboy who’s growing old
On trails I’m winding, I’m not finding
True love that I can have and hold
And this cowboy’s growing old
True love that I can have and hold
And this cowboy’s growing old

– instrumental –

On trails I’m winding, I’m not finding
True love that I can have and hold
And this cowboy’s growing old
True love that I can have and hold
And this cowboy’s growing old

Home On The Range (Larry W. Jones 03/15/2007) (song#4520)

Sometimes I wish I were a young cowboy again
Down by the old corral
There was Cody, Billy and Joe on the chaparral
We were all young cowboys and the best of pals
I’d love to have a hoedown, just us four
So we could sing old cowboy songs once more

Home, Home On The Range, my favorite cowboy melody
Home, Home On The Range, oh, what a cowboy memory
There was Cody, Billy and Joe on the chaparral
We were all young cowboys and the best of pals
Sometimes I wish I were a young cowboy again

– instrumental –

Home On The Range, meant we were pals back then
I know it may sound strange
But I know I’d shed a tear
If once more, with old my pals, I could hear
My favorite cowboy melody, Home On The Range

If once more, with old my pals, I could hear
My favorite cowboy melody, Home On The Range

Sweetheart Cowgirl (Larry W. Jones 03/16/2007) (song#4521)

I’m gonna be a cowgirl’s cowboy
I’m gonna teach her to rope and ride
We’re gonna ride o’er the plains and the desert
Way out west of the Great Divide
We’ll listen to coyotes howlin’
Watch the sun set in the west
I’m gonna be a cowgirl’s cowboy
A sweetheart cowgirl that I love best

– instrumental –

I’ll teach her to ride a paint, get him on the run
We’ll feel the wind in our face
A thousand miles from the city lights that we shun
Ridin’ at a fast cowboy’s pace
We’re gonna pillow our heads near the sleeping herd
While the moon shines up above.
I’m gonna strum my guitar and a-yodel a dee hee
For the sweetheart cowgirl that I love

Freightliner Cowboy (Larry W. Jones 03/16/2007) (song#4522)

When I was just a little boy
My daddy told me lots of tales
All about great gandpa Troy
Ridin’ all those cattle trails

I guess you can say I was impressed
Down to my very heart and soul
Cause I still dream of the ‘ol wild west
Though it’s taken quite a toll

I don’t wear spurs that jingle at my feet
And my cell phone don’t need a wire
My big ‘ol diesel is the king of the fleet
Cause I’m a Freightliner cowboy flyer

Some say this truckin’ life is suicidal
But I see it as my rising star
Once in a while I let my big diesel idle
And strum a song on my guitar

– instrumental –

I sing about a girl I used to know
Of days that have come and gone
But now I just ride the open road
On this freightliner I call home

I don’t wear spurs that jingle at my feet
And my cell phone don’t need a wire
My big ‘ol diesel is the king of the fleet
Cause I’m a Freightliner cowboy flyer

Yellow Roses (Larry W. Jones 03/17/2007) (song#4523)

Yellow roses, yellow roses
Some say that yellow roses mean goodbye
Yellow roses, I got your yellow roses
And yellow roses mean I feel like I could die

Dear, you say that you’ve found someone new
I never knew that roses break a heart in two
Yellow roses, I got your yellow roses
And yellow roses mean I feel like I could die

– instrumental –

I’ll put them in a vase by the wall
They’ll bring memories that I’ll recall
I won’t bother to water them at all
Cause there’ll be plenty of tears to fall

Yellow roses, yellow roses
Some say that yellow roses mean goodbye
Yellow roses, I got your yellow roses
And yellow roses mean I feel like I could die

Howdy Texas Howdy Ho (Larry W. Jones 03/17/2007) (song#4524)

Say adios to the east
And adios to the west
Say adios to the north
Cause I’m goin’ where life is best

Spent my last dime
Had me a swell time
But I can’t dwell here, no
So, Howdy Texas, Howdy Ho

Spent my dough, now I gotta go

Oh now, mister engineer
Please lend me your ear
I’m gonna make it clear
I’ve gotta get away from here

Take my shoes, take my hat
But take me back to Texas fast
Where I can go to a rodeo
Howdy Texas, Howdy Ho

Take my shoes, take my hat
But take me back to Texas fast
Where I can go to a rodeo
Howdy Texas, Howdy Ho

Hey Mockingbird (Larry W. Jones 03/17/2007) (song#4525)

Hey mockingbird, let me hear your trill
Come and sing your song upon my windowsill

Hey yellow moon up in the sky
This fellow hasn’t seen his love since she said goodbye

My poor lonely heart will surely die
As to why she left, I still wonder why

So mockingbird, let me hear your trill
Come and sing your song upon my windowsill
So my heart can keep on living through this winter chill

– instrumental –

My poor lonely heart will surely die
As to why she left, I still wonder why

Hey mockingbird, let me hear your trill
Come and sing your song upon my windowsill
So my heart can keep on living through this winter chill
Hey mockingbird
Come and sing your song upon my windowsill

Ponderosa Wind (Larry W. Jones 03/21/2007) (song#4526)

In the High Sierras there are Ponderosa pines
Guarding the alpine trails that I used to climb
Whenever I get lonely, when I just need a friend
I close my eyes and feel that Ponderosa wind

I’ve been to lots of places, been a begger and a king
But contentment is not the thing money ever brings
There’s one thing that still makes the singing begin
The thrill of High Sierras and that Ponderosa wind

– instrumental –

I’ve been to lots of places, been a begger and a king
But contentment is not the thing money ever brings
There’s one thing that still makes the singing begin
The thrill of High Sierras and that Ponderosa wind

The cities that I’ve seen are cold concrete and steel
It gets old living a life that’s deceit and nothing real
There’s one thing that still makes the living begin
The thrill of High Sierras and that Ponderosa wind

The thrill of High Sierras and that Ponderosa wind

How Were Things In Amarillo Yesterday (Larry W. Jones 03/22/2007) (song#4527)

I hear the lonely sound of a whippoorwill
Could it be he knows I’m feeling blue
Or has he found that I feel low down still
If he has, I’ll ask him true

How were things in Amarillo yesterday
Did they hold a big ‘ol rodeo over there
Did the Big Texan serve up steak buffet
And did they all have stetson hats to wear

How were things in Amarillo yesterday
Was that big ‘ol Texas moon hanging there
And did that cowgirl with the golden hair
Smile at other cowboys and then just ride away

– instrumental –

And did that cowgirl with the golden hair
Smile at other cowboys and then just ride away

It seems so strange to be living here
To have her back I’ll have to find a way
Pardon me if I may ask through a tear
How were things in Amarillo yesterday

Happy Cowboy (Larry W. Jones 03/22/2007) (song#4528)

On trails through purple sage
Over the western prairie stage
I’m riding along, thinking of you

I told the lonely whippoorwill
That I no longer share his hill
Now that all my skies are blue

I told the eagle that flys with ease
That I too can fly upon his breeze
Since I’m in love with you

I’m just a happy cowboy and I show it
I want the whole darn west to know it

I told the little prairie stream
That I found a great big dream
In a little cowgirl of peaches and cream
When I found you

– instrumental –

I told the lonely whippoorwill
That I no longer share his hill
Now that all my skies are blue

I told the eagle that flys with ease
That I too can fly upon his breeze
Since I’m in love with you

I’m just a happy cowboy and I show it
I want the whole darn west to know it

I told the little prairie stream
That I found a great big dream
In a little cowgirl of peaches and cream
When I found you

How Sad Texas Can Be (Larry W. Jones 03/22/2007) (song#4529)

How sad Texas can be
When you’re all alone
With only a fond memory
Left in old San Antone

I walk at least a mile
Down to San Antone’s old square
Thinking of her smile
When she was mine down there

How sad Texas can be
When mariaches play
Songs not meant for me
Of someone’s wedding day

Like a dream that cannot sleep
Like a picture on the wall
Like a love I cannot keep
I picture tears begin to fall

How sad Texas can be
Through a cowboy’s misty eyes
This cowboy did not see
Through a senorita’s lies

How sad Texas can be
When you’re left all alone
How sad Texas can be
For a cowboy in San Antone

Bring Your Love Back Home Today (Larry W. Jones 02/23/2007) (song#4530)

Bring your love back home today
Lay your head upon my shoulder
Darling, see if you can find a way
Bring your love back home today

I remember when you left me
Words just could not make you stay
Darling, listen to my plea
Bring your love back home today

Bring your love back home today

– instrumental –

Darling, I know that it’s true
My apology is overdue
But here’s one thing I ask of you
Bring your love back home today

Bring your love back home today
Lay your head upon my shoulder
See if you can find a way
Bring your love back home today

Texarkana By Midnight (Larry W. Jones 03/23/2007) (song#4531)

Texarkana by midnight, down from Tennessee
I wonder if there might, be someone waiting for me
With the moon so bright in the Texas night
I sure hope that girl I’ll see
Texarkana by midnight, Texarkana’s waitin’ for me

I sold my guitar in Nashville, Grand Ole Opry’s too far away
No more dreams to fulfill, so I just had to get away
I was lookin’ for love that I’m now tired of
How could I have been so blind
Texarkana by midnight, where I left true love behind

– instrumental –

Texarkana by midnight, down from Tennessee
I wonder if there might, be someone waiting for me
I left her cryin’ but now my heart is dyin’
Got to see if she still loves me
Texarkana by midnight, Texarkana’s waitin’ for me

Keep Thinking Of Me (Larry W. Jones 03/23/2007) (song#4532)

When everything bright turns black as the night
Your heart is all down and there’s no one around
When it’s raining so hard you can’t even see
Keep thinking of me

When you find that your friends have all gone away
Your mind knows it’s the end with nowhere to stay
When you wonder if there’s no place to flee
Keep thinking of me

– instrumental –

Keep thinking of me cause I’m thinking of you
Don’t break the link of love that’s still true
Keep thinking of me cause I’m thinking of you

When your plans have all drifted away like the sand
And you stand at a crossroads that you hadn’t planned
When you’re feeling lonely, you’ll find the key if you only
Keep thinking of me

Ride On The Happy Trails (Larry W. Jones 03/23/2007) (song#4533)

There are dim and worried trails of life
But there still are happy trails to find
Though you may ride some trails of strife
Just try to keep the happy trails in mind

Ride on the happy trails
Look for the happy trails
Ride on the happy trails of life
Be a good neighbor every day
Help your brother in every way
Ride on the happy trails of life

A storm may come and bring cold rain
Transform a dream to sorrow and pain
But tomorrow the sun will shine again
With the warmth of love’s eternal flame

– instrumental –

There are many trails that cowboys rode
And some were stormy with a heavy load
But all were ridden by the cowboy code
Cause happy trails are a cowboy’s abode

Ride on the happy trails
Look for the happy trails
Ride on the happy trails of life
Be a good neighbor every day
Help your brother in every way
Ride on the happy trails of life

Texas In The Twilight (Larry W. Jones 03/23/2007) (song#4534)

I will sing of a state that I love so
With towns of renown like San Antonio
Where moonlight is bright in the velvet blue
And a cowgirl’s love is love so true

Texas in the twilight, love in the velvet blue
Texas in the twilight, when stars are twinkling through

The mokingbird sings so sweet and pure
Songs of love that makes all hearts sure
Oh, I must return to Texas some day
Yes, back to Texas I will find my way

Texas in the twilight…

– instrumental –

The mokingbird sings so sweet and pure
Songs of love that makes all hearts sure
Oh, I must return to Texas some day
Yes, back to Texas I will find my way

Oh why, oh why did I ever go
From the state that I love so
Away from Texas and San Antonio
Texas in the twilight is calling me, I know

Texas in the twilight…

The Rodeo Is Over (Larry W. Jones 03/24/2007) (song#4535)

My blue Texas skies are changing today
Like dreams being painted battleship grey

My darlin’s eyes don’t sparkle or shine
She’s matriarchal when her lips meet mine
I’m afraid the rodeo is over
And so is our love, so is our love

When she speaks, she sounds kinda mean
Supper was bleak when she burned the beans
I’m afraid the rodeo is over
And so is our love, so is our love

I’ll just put on another Hank Williams song
Take off this paint of rodeo clown disguise
Old Hank knew when things were going wrong
There were tears in his beer from his eyes

My darlin’ looks the same, but I don’t see love’s flame
All I see is smoke every time I call her name
I’m afraid the rodeo is over
And so is our love, so is our love

– instrumental –

I’ll just put on another Hank Williams song
Take off this paint of rodeo clown disguise
Old Hank knew when things were going wrong
There were tears in his beer from his eyes

Trail A Million Miles Long (Larry W. Jones 03/24/2007) (song#4536)

I’m gonna ride out on a trail
Trail a million miles long
Don’t send no pony express mail
Cause I won’t be at home
I’m gonna ride out on a trail
Trail a million miles long

You weren’t meant for love that’s true
My lost time spent with you is through
I’m gonna ride out just like the wind
Then you won’t trouble my mind again
There’s one place you can’t trail along
Trail a million miles long

I’m gonna ride out on a trail
Trail a million miles long
Don’t send no pony express mail
Cause I won’t be at home
I’m gonna ride out on a trail
Trail a million miles long

– instrumental –

You can do whatever you desire
If you beg of me, you’ll be singing to the choir
When your high falutin’ days are gone
You’ll wonder just which trail I’m on
I’ll be on the one that’s so long gone
Trail a million miles long

I’m gonna ride out on a trail
Trail a million miles long
Don’t send no pony express mail
Cause I won’t be at home
I’m gonna ride out on a trail
Trail a million miles long

When It’s Springtime Down In Texas (Larry W. Jones 03/24/2007) (song#4537)

When it’s springtime down in Texas
I’ll ride the trail back home to you
You’re my little darlin’ down in Texas
Your eyes are bright bluebonnet blue
And when I arrive I’ll say I love you
When it’s springtime down in Texas
I’ll ride the trail back home to you

But for now, I’m stranded up here, darlin’
Wyomin’s cold and covered deep in snow
I’m sittin’ in the bunkhouse by the stove
Thinking of you and when I’m gonna go
How I remember springtime down in Texas
Flowers and indian paintbrushes aflame
I can’t wait to be back down in Texas
In the springtime I’ll be with you again

– instrumental –

How I remember springtime down in Texas
Flowers and indian paintbrushes aflame
I can’t wait to be back down in Texas
In the springtime I’ll be with you again

When it’s springtime down in Texas
I’ll ride the trail back home to you
You’re my little darlin’ down in Texas
Your eyes are bright bluebonnet blue
And when I arrive I’ll say I love you
When it’s springtime down in Texas
I’ll ride the trail back home to you

That Silver Haired Mama Of Mine (Larry W. Jones 03/25/2007) (song#4538)

In a little ranch house down in Texas
Someone waits for the old clock to chime
That will bring to an end all life’s sorrows
She’s that silver haired mama of mine

I know she has weathered the hard times
But dear old mama had much love to share
I would spend all my gold, nickles and dimes
If it would bring back the gold to her hair

Dear old mama, to me, you are a tower
That only strength and love could climb
I treasure all your love, sent from God above
You’re that silver haired mama of mine

It’s almost too late, dear old mama
To ride down the trail to you there
I’m saddled up for leaving tomorrow
And I’ll be with you soon is my prayer

– instrumental –

Dear old mama, to me, you are a tower
That only strength and love could climb
I treasure all your love, sent from God above
You’re that silver haired mama of mine

It’s almost too late, dear old mama
To ride down the trail to you there
I’m saddled up for leaving tomorrow
And I’ll be with you soon is my prayer

San Antone Rose (Larry W. Jones 03/25/2007) (song#4539)

San Antone Rose, San Antone Rose

Oh, when the Texas moon beams
It’s then that I see in my dreams
My beautiful San Antone Rose
And the stars, when they shine
Have never shone so divine as
My beautiful San Antone Rose

And whenever we’re far apart
I still know here in my heart
That her love for me still flows
And it’s more that just a love
For she was sent from above
My beautiful San Antone Rose

– instrumental –

Yes, I know here in my heart
That her heart beats for me
And like soft rose petals are
Her sweet lips are, you see

Heaven could never offer more
Than one whom my heart knows
And of whom I’ll forever adore
My beautiful San Antone Rose

Cardboard Castle (Larry W. Jones 03/28/2007) (song#4540)

Darlin’, please don’t build me a cardboard castle
I’ve seen them fold when cold winds blew
And darlin’, I don’t want to be your lowly vassal
I just want to hold a love that’s true

You can sing the sweetest love songs
Of anyone I’ve ever heard
But I can’t live in cardboard castles
Built with only pretty words
You’ve built so many cardboard castles
None of them were ever built of stone
And I can’t live with all the hassels
Of a cardboard love that’s not my own

– instrumental –

Dear, I know that I’m just a dreamer
And I know that you have dreams as well
So, if you build a castle or a manor
Be sure there’s room for love to dwell

Darlin’, please don’t build me a cardboard castle
I’ve seen them fold when cold winds blew
And darlin’, I don’t want to be your lowly vassal
I just want to hold a love that’s true

He’s A Cowboy (Larry W. Jones 03/29/2007) (song#4541)

He’s a cowboy and he’ll ride away
And then there’ll be no fam’ly man
No woman alive’s gonna make him stay
So, run while you can and get away
Cause he’s a cowboy

He’s a cowboy and he’ll ride like a midnight train
No woman alive’s gonna make him stay
He’s just a maverick stray, a bronco without a rein
Cause he’s a cowboy

When the leavin’ comes, here comes the sorrow
And he doesn’t even know the reason why
When the leavin’ comes, there’s only tomorrow
Cause he’s a cowboy til the day he dies

– instrumental –

When the leavin’ comes, here comes the sorrow
And he doesn’t even know the reason why
When the leavin’ comes, there’s only tomorrow
Cause he’s a cowboy til the day he dies

He’s a cowboy and he’ll ride away
And then there’ll be no fam’ly man
No woman alive’s gonna make him stay
So, run while you can and get away
Cause he’s a cowboy

Another Lone Star Beer (Larry W. Jones 03/29/2007) (song#4542)

Well, here we are in the Good Time Bar
Order another round of Lone Star beer
Now the reason why I’m feeling snappy
The cowgirl I love makes me so happy
The way she walks just brings me cheer
Hey cowboys, have another Lone Star beer

She said that she’d be coming here today
That’s why I decided that here I’ll stay
She planted a kiss for me on every letter
Take it for granted, ain’t none better
The way she walks just brings me cheer
Hey cowboys, have another Lone Star beer

What’s better in life than anything
And what makes the Texas moon shine
Hey cowboys, true love is everything
And I’m gonna make that cowgirl mine

Have another Lone Star beer like a man
Order another round of beer once again
Hey cowboys, here comes my one and only
Adios buddies, now don’t you be lonely
The way she walks just brings me cheer
Hey cowboys, have another Lone Star beer

Hey what happened, she walked on past
Oh well, her love wasn’t meant to last
She’s on the floor dancing with another
And by her glancing, he ain’t her brother
The way she walks just brings me a tear
Hey cowboys, have another Lone Star beer
Order another round of Lone Star beer

Hey Bob Wills (Larry W. Jones 03/29/2007) (song#4543)

Well, every Texan knew who Bob Wills was
And they called him the King when he played
Bob Wills became the King of Texas Swing
His fame came from the music that he made

Hey Bob Wills
It was Texas that taught you to play that thing
Hey Bob Wills
In Texas you’ll always be the King of Swing

All of Texas danced in their cowboy boots
The two step had to come from Texas roots
When they shook a leg on the dance floor
They all began to beg for more and more
When the Texas Playboys music rang out
The whole texas gang would shout…

Hey Bob Wills
It was Texas that taught you to play that thing
Hey Bob Wills
In Texas you’ll always be the King of Swing

Hey Bob Wills
In Texas you’ll always be the King of Swing

Howdy Cowboy (Larry W. Jones 03/29/2007) (song#4544)

Howdy cowboy, howdy cowboy
How’s Texas treating you
Now aren’t you glad that you’re not sad
And aren’t those bluebonnets blue

That’s why you ought to say howdy, howdy cowboy
It’s the Texas thing to do
Spread happiness wide on the trails you ride
And folks will smile just because you tried
Add a lot of love and laughter with your joy
Howdy cowboy, I’m talkin’ to you

– instrumental –

Howdy cowboy, howdy cowboy
How’s Texas treating you
Now aren’t you glad that you’re not sad
And aren’t those bluebonnets blue

That’s why you ought to say howdy, howdy cowboy
It’s the Texas thing to do
Spread happiness wide on the trails you ride
And folks will smile just because you tried
Add a lot of love and laughter with your joy
Howdy cowboy, I’m talkin’ to you

Add a lot of love and laughter with your joy
Howdy cowboy, howdy cowboy
Howdy cowboy, I’m talkin’ to you

Mess Of Big Crappie (Larry W. Jones 03/29/2007) (song#4545)

Hello, good lookin’, ain’t you got nothin’ cookin’
How’s about hookin’ a fish or two with me
Hello sweet lady, we’ll find a spot that’s shady
Where we can reel in a mess of big crappie

I’ve got a boat and a motor and a trailer too
And a pickup Ford with a bench seat for two
There’s beer in the cooler and the bait is free
Won’t you come along and go fishin’ with me

Hello, good lookin’, ain’t you got nothin’ cookin’
How’s about hookin’ a fish or two with me

– instrumental –

I’m ready for rollin’, so let’s go trollin’
Where we can reel in a mess of big crappie
No more sad lookin’, gonna be fish a-cookin’
Won’t you come along and go fishin’ with me

Gonna throw my line where the fishin’ is tense
With a bobber and a lure for five or ten cents
I don’t care if the fishin’ line’s thin gauge
Cause you can net ’em and throw ’em in the cage

Hello, good lookin’, ain’t you got nothin’ cookin’
How’s about hookin’ a fish or two with me
I’m ready for rollin’, so let’s go trollin’
Where we can reel in a mess of big crappie

Howdy Ho My Cowgirl (Larry W. Jones 03/29/2007) (song#4546)

I’ve got a gal in San Antone
Howdy ho my cowgirl
Sweetest gal I’ve ever known
Howdy ho my cowgirl
I’ve got a gal in San Antone
Sweetest gal I’ve ever known
But her ma said she’s too young to be on her own
Howdy ho my cowgirl

She dresses like a Texan in her boots
Howdy ho my cowgirl
In her cowgirl hat she sure looks cute
Howdy ho my cowgirl
She dresses like a Texan in her boots
In her cowgirl hat she sure looks cute
And the way she kisses, me it suits
Howdy ho my cowgirl

Her ruby lips sure kiss a lot
Howdy ho my cowgirl
If you miss, you miss a lot
Howdy ho my cowgirl
Her ruby lips sure kiss a lot
If you miss, you miss a lot
I’m gonna ask her to tie the knot
Howdy ho my cowgirl

I’ve got a gal in San Antone
Howdy ho my cowgirl
Sweetest gal I’ve ever known
Howdy ho my cowgirl
I’ve got a gal in San Antone
Sweetest gal I’ve ever known
I told her ma I’m gonna be her son in law
Howdy ho my cowgirl

Near High Noon (Larry W. Jones 03/30/2007) (song#4547)

If you forsake me, my sweet darlin’
Before our weddin’ day
If you forsake me, my sweet darlin’
I might die alone in the fray

I do not know what lies before me
The thought of death brings me chill
But there’s a man who swore to me
That I would die a cowboy, die a cowboy
That I would die a cowboy on Boot Hill

Why must I choose twixt love and obligation
What if I loose the dearest one in all creation
Dear, I must answer nigh soon
For the sun is near high noon

An outlaw has broken out of jail
He swore he’d kill me without fail
This badge I wear is not a guarantee
My sweet darlin’, do not forsake me

If you forsake me, my sweet darlin’
I would never find another bride
If you forsake me, my sweet darlin’
I might be a cowboy dyin’, a lowly cowboy dyin’
Without you by my side

Why must I choose twixt love and obligation
What if I loose the dearest in all creation
Dear, I must answer nigh soon
For the sun is near high noon
Near high noon
Near high noon

Pony Spurs And Saddle (Larry W. Jones 03/30/2007) (song#4548)

Give me back my pony, spurs and saddle
I want to ride out on that Texas range
I want a crack at herdin’ cattle again
Give me back my pony, spurs and saddle

I want to feel the wind against my chest
See the sun setting in the Texas west
Give me some leather that I can straddle
Give me back my pony, spurs and saddle

– instrumental –

I’ve got an old harmonica I can play
Around the campfire at end of day
I know a senorita in old San Antone
And to her my heart is ever drawn
Back to her home someday I’ll stray

Give me back my pony, spurs and saddle
I want to ride out on that Texas range
I want a crack at herdin’ cattle again
Give me back my pony, spurs and saddle

Deep In A Lonely Valley (Larry W. Jones 03/30/2007) (song#4549)

Deep in a lonely valley
My heart can feel the chill
I hear only you whispering my name
Out in the misty blue
I search for someone I knew
Deep in a lonely valley
Can you hear me whisper your name

You’re always somewhere out of reach
Will my heart ever see the finale
What can a man do with only speech
Deep in a lonely valley
But, forever I will whisper your name
Forever I will whisper your name

– instrumental –

You’re always somewhere out of reach
Will my heart ever see the finale
What can a man do with only speech
Deep in a lonely valley
But, forever I will whisper your name
Forever I will whisper your name

Deep in a lonely valley
I will whisper your name

Down The Heartbreak Line (Larry W. Jones 03/30/2007) (song#4550)

Bright light shinin’ down a railroad track
Night train whinin’ with a flaming stack
Listen to the whistle leavin’ me behind
Takin’ my baby down the Heartbreak Line
Choo choo rollin’ down the Heartbreak Line

Well, I thought my baby’s love was true
Now she’s gone with somebody I never knew
Down The Heartbreak Line
I wouldn’t buy a ticket even if I could
I’m singin’ like a cricket on old dead wood
About that uptown baby of mine
Down The Heartbreak Line
Choo choo rollin’ down the Heartbreak Line

– instrumental –

I wouldn’t buy a ticket even if I could
I’m singin’ like a cricket on old dead wood
About that uptown baby of mine
Down The Heartbreak Line
Choo choo rollin’ down the Heartbreak Line

Choo choo, choo choo
Down The Heartbreak Line
I wouldn’t buy a ticket even if I could
I’m singin’ like a cricket on old dead wood
About that uptown baby of mine
Down The Heartbreak Line
Choo choo rollin’ down the Heartbreak Line

Texas Lullaby (Larry W. Jones 03/31/2007) (song#4551)

The Texas sun is setting red and low
Where the purple sage and jimson grows
I roll out my bed, saddle for my head
Listen to the breeze with its easy sigh
It’s a Texas lullaby

I’m warm by the fire but my heart’s desire
Is to see my sweet Bonnie’s eyes
I hear the whippoorwill on the lonely hill
It’s a Texas lullaby

– instrumental –

Across the prairie plain, cowboy’s domain
Red hawks and the eagles fly
At night a guitar tune ‘neath a cowboy’s moon
It’s a Texas lullaby

Sweet Bonnie’s alone and I’m ready for home
But the cattle need water and the prairie’s dry
The west Texas breeze says sweet Bonnie’s for me
It’s a Texas lullaby
It’s a Texas lullaby

Trouble In Mind (Larry W. Jones 03/31/2007) (song#4552)

Trouble in mind because of you
You sure made this cowboy blue
It’s the kind that won’t go away
I wonder if the sun will ever shine
In my old bunkhouse door some day

Trouble in mind, someone you knew
My saddled up pony I’m untieing
I’m ridin’ away from dreams of you
On a lonesome trail I’ll be flying
Trouble in mind because of you

Cowboy’s gonna rest his weary head
Deep inside some old gold mine
I might die eatin’ beans and bread
But it will ease my worried mind
Trouble in mind because of you

Trouble, oh, my life’s in such a rubble
How can a cowboy keep on trying
Cause when I’m trying to laugh, darlin’
More than half comes out crying too

I’m gonna ride on a lonesome trail
And where I end up I just don’t care
I’ll sleep out where coyotes wail
Anywhere as long as you’re not there

Trouble in mind because of you
You sure made this cowboy blue
It’s the kind that won’t go away
I wonder if the sun will ever shine
In my old bunkhouse door some day

Give Me A Home Around San Antone (Larry W. Jones 03/31/2007) (song#4553)

Well, I’ve been in about every state
Seen some a couple of times or more
I’ve seen places and lots of faces
From the east to the western shore
When folks ask me what place I rate
I relate of one place I truly adore

Give me a home around San Antone
With the sound of a fiddle please
A guitar too and a Lone Star brew
And a big ‘ol grove of pecan trees
The boots I wear will take me there
And I’ll hang my hat on a rocking chair

Some folks like their fancy mansions
With great big iron fences all around
But one place that can’t be outdone
Is around San Antone on Texas ground

Give me a home around San Antone
And the sound of darlin’ in the kitchen
Cookin’ up a roast fallin’ off the bone
And shooin’ away the barnyard chickens
Watch the sun set at the end of the day
Listen to Bob Wills and the Playboys play

Give me a home around San Antone
With the sound of a fiddle please
A guitar too and a Lone Star brew
And a big ‘ol grove of pecan trees
The boots I wear will take me there
And I’ll hang my hat on a rocking chair
In my home around San Antone

Ballad Of Anna Nicole Smith (Larry W. Jones 03/31/2007) (song#4554)

Anna Nicole Smith would make the big time whirl
And the folks back home would think it strange
To see and hear about their own Mexia Texas girl

Years went by and a lot happened in between
For the darling of the screen and magazines
At only thirty nine Anna Nicole left this world
Was it by design that happiness never find
A Mexia Texas girl

Back To My Ranch In Texas (Larry W. Jones 03/31/2007) (song#4555)

I’m gonna go back to my ranch in Texas
Where pecan trees grow tall all around
And where the bluebonnets there are bluer
Than any other flower that can be found

My family tree has a branch in Texas
And I don’t know why I ever went away
I’m gonna go back to my ranch in Texas
And back in Texas is where I’ll stay

– instrumental –

I wanna hear the whippoorwill calling
From his lonely hill at night
I wanna see the horned toad crawling
When the sun is hot and bright

My family tree has a branch in Texas
And I don’t know why I ever went away
I’m gonna go back to my ranch in Texas
And back in Texas is where I’ll stay

Home Is Where The Star Is (Larry W. Jones 03/31/2007) (song#4556)

Home is where the star is
And it’s of Texas that I brag
Home is where the star is
It’s alone on the Texas flag

Many times I’ve been away
Down some unfamiliar road
Every time I could not stay
From my star of Tex abode

Home is where the heart is
Long as there’s a star to see
And whenever we’re apart is
A sad and lonely time for me

– instrumental –

Many times I’ve been away
Down some unfamiliar road
Every time I could not stay
From my star of Tex abode

Home is where the star is
And it’s of Texas that I brag
Home is where the star is
It’s alone on the Texas flag

Home is where the heart is
Long as there’s a star to see
Home is where the star is
The Lone Star of Texas is home for me

Backyard Barbecue (Larry W. Jones 04/01/2007) (song#4557)

Warm June night and the livin’ is right
Cause I see my darlin’ coming in view
Big ‘ol Texas moon with a golden hue
It’s like playin’ the perfect card
For backyard barbecue

See fireflies lightin’, no skeeters bitin’
Old Joe’s playin’ the fiddle nice and slow
Aunts, uncles, cousins come by the dozens
To gather round a pit that’s charred, it’s true
For backyard barbecue

All those folks stuck in the city, what a pity
They never know how best to spend their time
Their life is scarred from workin’ too hard
Just a little basil and thyme, key lime pie
And friends that aren’t hard to find will die
For backyard barbecue

– instrumental –

Just a little basil and thyme, key lime pie
And friends that aren’t hard to find will die
For backyard barbecue

See fireflies lightin’, no skeeters bitin’
Old Joe’s playin’ the fiddle nice and slow
Aunts, uncles, cousins come by the dozens
To gather round a pit that’s charred, it’s true
For backyard barbecue

Houston Rodeo Blues (Larry W. Jones 04/01/2007) (song#4558)

Cowboys can’t wait, they all wanna go
Gotta play a date at the Houston Rodeo
Sing a hit song for a country line dance
The Houston Rodeo is their big chance

It don’t really matter which song they choose
They’re all just a platter to sing away
The Houston Rodeo blues

They all have friends, sweet Texas cowgirls
And every one’s the best in a cowboy’s world
Some try to play it cool but they’re so unreal
Rodeo won’t last past their last loud squeal

– instrumental –

Some cowboys run with the honky tonk crowd
And Texas cowgirls by the ton are on the scene
Spend daddy’s money when the music’s loud
And the cowboys think they’ve seen a dream

It don’t really matter which song they choose
They’re all just a platter to sing away
The Houston Rodeo blues
Houston Rodeo blues, blues, blues
Houston Rodeo blues

You’re A Honky Tonk Man (Larry W. Jones 04/01/2007) (song#4559)

Yeah, you’re a honky tonk man
But I’m gonna make you stop
Givin’ all those girls a whirl
To the music of an old juke box
I know your money’s all gone
When you’re on the telephone singin’
Hey, hey, mama can your daddy come home

Yeah, you’ve been livin’ wild and dangerously
And you’ve had plenty of company
Every time the moon comes up
And every time the sun goes down
You go to see the honky tonk lights of town

Yeah, you’re a honky tonk man
But I’m gonna make you stop
Givin’ all those girls a whirl
To the music of an old juke box
I know your money’s all gone
When you’re on the telephone singin’
Hey, hey, mama can your daddy come home

Well, this little girl is gonna unwind
You’re gonna pay for your honky tonk time
You’re gonna be moanin’ like a rodeo clown
When I run you and your money out of town

Cause, you’re a honky tonk man
But I’m gonna make you stop
Givin’ all those girls a whirl
To the music of an old juke box
I know your money’s all gone
When you’re on the telephone singin’
Hey, hey, mama can your daddy come home

I’m So Heart Broken (Larry W. Jones 04/02/2007) (song#4560)

I’m so heart broken deep inside of me
Love words spoken were just lies to me
Darlin’, you were to be my bride to be
But yours was just a token love, I see

You said that there was no one new
Instead, I found your words untrue
Darlin’, tell me, what came over you
I’m so heart broken in this misery

– instrumental –

I’m so heart broken that you’ll never know
How much it hurts for me to see you go
Can I forgive you darlin’, I don’t even know
I’m so heart broken deep inside of me

But I still love you, that you must know
I wish you happiness and love that grows
And I’ll live with my emptiness and woes
I’m so heart broken
Darlin’, I’m heart broken
I’m so heart broken deep inside of me

Boogie Woogie Cowboy Of Texas Swing (Larry W. Jones 04/02/2007) (song#4561)

I don’t care for rock and I don’t dare to roll
But I like to boogie woogie to a western theme
Cause I’m a swingin’ cowboy down to my soul
I’m the boogie woogie cowboy of Texas swing

I can feel it when the feeling is coming on
I can heel it with the two step all night long
Cause I’m a swingin’ cowboy and I’m the king
I’m the boogie woogie cowboy of Texas swing

Boogie, boogie woogie, it’s a Texas thing
Get on the floor and boogie woogie like a king
Boogie, boogie woogie to the Texas swing

I was born in a stable where the horses prance
Any time I’m able I get on the floor to dance
To a honky tonk my cowboy boogie boots I bring
I’m the boogie woogie cowboy of Texas swing

Oh babe, I like to boogie, I was made to boogie
When country music’s played, I like to boogie
Cause I’m a swingin’ cowboy and I’m the king
I’m the boogie woogie cowboy of Texas swing

Lonely Lane (Larry W. Jones 04/02/2007) (song#4562)

Now, my mailbox has one little door
But I don’t get her letters anymore
This cold room has such a sad decor
As I’m walkin’ on this hardwood floor
I live on Lonely Lane
Our love was all in vain
I’ll never see my love again
The girl that I adore

My baggy eyes are like rough leather
They sag like cryin’ in bad weather
I just don’t know now as to whether
I’ll be able to live happy as before
I live on Lonely Lane
Our love was all in vain
I’ll never see my love again
The girl that I adore

Now, I’m so low down and so lonesome
Don’t know what on earth I’ll become
And my life ain’t even worth a crumb
Gonna go hide behind the closet door
I live on Lonely Lane
Our love was all in vain
I’ll never see my love again
The girl that I adore

Too Far From Texas (Larry W. Jones 04/05/2007) (song#4563)

I’m too far from Texas and on my own
I need a friend to look after me

My belly’s empty and it’s gettin’colder
Everybody back home wonders if I’m dead
This rodeo circuit’s just makin’ me older
Should-a stayed in Texas like they said

I’m too far from Texas and on my own
I need a friend to look after me

– instrumental –

Last night I went to the local soup kitchen
That’s when I knew I was in trouble deep
Bein’ a rodeo star ain’t got past wishin’
Now I’m wishin’ for a Texas place to sleep

I’m too far from Texas and on my own
Too far from Texas where I need to be
So far everything right turned out wrong
I need a friend to look after me

I’m too far from Texas
Too far from Texas
I’m too far from Texas and on my own

I Still Love You As Before (Larry W. Jones 04/06/2007) (song#4564)

Here I am sitting all alone
Admitting that I’m waiting by the phone
Cause I still love you as before

True love I gave you from the start
And even though you broke my heart
I still love you as before

I still love you as before
Hoping that you’ll call or knock on my door
Dear, I just can’t say goodbye
Glad you can’t see these tears in my eyes
Cause I still love you as before

– instrumental –

I still love you as before
Hoping that you’ll call or knock on my door
Dear, I just can’t say goodbye
Glad you can’t see these tears in my eyes
Cause I still love you as before

Dear, remember you said you loved me too
Could there be an ember that’s still true
Now, I don’t know who most to blame
I just want you close to fan the flame
Cause I still love you as before

No Cowboys Are Riding The Purple Sage Anymore (Larry W. Jones 04/06/2007) (song#4565)

The old cowboy still dreams of the fortune he sought
Now he’s got nothing from everything that life brought
His face is all wrinkled from the sun and the rain
And his eyes used to twinkle but now look in pain

He remembers Cheyenne and the way it began
For a young cowboy who was sure of his plan
He reaches back in his mem’ry to long days of yore
But no cowboys are riding the purple sage anymore

The corral is broken and the bunkhouse door’s locked
The water well has run dry and the windmill is cocked
There’s a brand new black top where big diesels roar
And no cowboys are riding the purple sage anymore

The train called Silver Eagle is climbing the hill
It drowns out the call of the lonely whippoorwill
The old cowboy is now nearing the end of the trail
And no cowboys are singing an old cowboy’s tale

He knows it’s all over because his hands are weak
Traded his saddle for a rocking chair that squeaks
There’s no open ranges and no new trails to explore
And no cowboys are riding the purple sage anymore

Since I Lost My Darlin’ (Larry W. Jones 04/06/2007) (song#4566)

Since I lost my darlin’ (darlin’)
I don’t know what to do
Since I lost my darlin’ (darlin’)
I don’t know what to do
I toss and turn darlin’
Cause I’m feelin’ blue

My darlin’ wrote me a letter
And this is what it said
My darlin’ wrote me a letter
And this is what it said
Don’t bother comin’ home
Since our love is dead

– instrumental –

Since I lost my darlin’ (darlin’)
I don’t know what to do
Since I lost my darlin’ (darlin’)
I don’t know what to do
I toss and turn darlin’
Cause I’m feelin’ blue

How I lost my darlin’ (darlin’)
Oh, how I wish I knew
How I lost my darlin’ (darlin’)
Oh, how I wish I knew
If you had lost your darlin’
You would feel blue too

In The Eyes Of Texas (Larry W. Jones 04/06/2007) (song#4567)

What I am
In the eyes of Texas
Is just a cowboy
Just one small cowboy

What I am
In the eyes of Texas
Is just a spot
Just one small dot

But when I’m strollin’ with my darlin’
What I am is the Texas star
Cause when I’m strollin’ with my darlin’
In big as Texas love we are

Well, I’m just a cowboy
In the eyes of Texas
But I’m a cowboy in love
With my Texas dove

– instrumental –

But when I’m strollin’ with my darlin’
What I am is the Texas star
Cause when I’m strollin’ with my darlin’
In big as Texas love we are

Well, I’m just a cowboy
In the eyes of Texas
But I’m a cowboy in love
With my Texas dove

Happy Trails For Me And You (Larry W. Jones 04/07/2007) (song#4568)

I believe in happy trails
Western skies and dreams come true
I believe in happy trails
Happy trails for me and you

I believe in happy trails
Love prevails, country music charts
Caring hearts to see things through
Happy trails for me and you

– instrumental –

Gloomy days make me feel like I lose
Roomy ranges are the real life cowboys choose
I traded shoes for cowboy boots
So I can tell someone cute
Why I believe…

I believe in happy trails
Western skies and dreams come true
I believe in happy trails
Happy trails for me and you

I believe in happy trails
Love prevails, country music charts
Caring hearts to see things through
Happy trails for me and you

Texas Two Step Or The Tango (Larry W. Jones 04/07/2007) (song#4569)

I don’t know the Texas two step from the tango
I only know my boots don’t know what to do
I don’t know the Texas two step from the tango
It’s true darlin’, every time I dance with you

Darlin’, the band is playin’ songs inviting
And darlin’, you’re so doggone exciting
With you I undergo a transformation
And lose my sense of syncopation
Doin’ the Texas two step or the tango

I don’t know the Texas two step from the tango
I only know my boots don’t know what to do
I don’t know the Texas two step from the tango
It’s true darlin’, every time I dance with you

This Texas love is new to me
It’s complex with you and me
I haven’t got a clue, you see
I lose my sense of syncopation
Doin’ the Texas two step or the tango

– instrumental –

Now, I’ve been to a honky tonk or two
I’ve broken a bareback bronc or two
But my will is broken by a kiss from you
I lose my sense of syncopation
Doin’ the Texas two step or the tango

I don’t know the Texas two step from the tango
I only know my boots don’t know what to do
I don’t know the Texas two step from the tango
It’s true darlin’, every time I dance with you

I Ride The Western Range (Larry W. Jones 04/07/2007) (song#4570)

I ride the western range
I watch the lone prairie
Will the cowgirl that I love
Come riding back to me

I ride the western range
Searching for the girl I love
Under stars all arranged
In the western sky above

Alone I ride
Searching patiently
Where is my future bride
Heaven hear my plea
Darlin’, where are you
Oh, how my heart does yearn
Did you somehow forget
Will you remember yet
Darlin’, when will you return

I ride the western range
I watch the lone prairie
For the cowgirl that I love
Will return one day to me

– instrumental –

Alone I ride
Searching patiently
Where is my future bride
Heaven hear my plea
Darlin’, where are you
Oh, how my heart does yearn
Did you somehow forget
Will you remember yet
Darlin’, when will you return

I ride the western range
I watch the lone prairie
For the cowgirl that I love
Will return one day to me

Midnight Flier (Larry W. Jones 04/09/2007) (song#4571)

Your love is now a lying thing
Heartaches are all it brings
A truer love’s what I require
I’m gonna roll, roll, roll on the midnight flier

I’m leavin’ town on the midnight flier
I’m gonna roll, roll, roll
Away from this mire
So, shovel that coal, coal, coal
To the midnight flier, the midnight flier

– instrumental –

Your love that once was sweet
Now lies in shame at your feet
I’m not to blame for this, dear
And you can claim my every tear

I’m leavin’ town on the midnight flier
I’m gonna roll, roll, roll
Away from this mire
So, shovel that coal, coal, coal
To the midnight flier, the midnight flier
So, shovel that coal, coal, coal
To the midnight flier, the midnight flier

Western Starlight (Larry W. Jones 04/09/2007) (song#4572)

When I was a young cowboy
I had dreams that were made of fantasy
But now that I’m older
I’ve got a better shoulder for living
Time changed my thinking and taught me
Yes, time brought me
The joy of a cowboy now giving

I give to you the western starlight
Like my love unchanging and true
I give to you the splendor of oceans
Like my love and tender devotion
I give to you the lofty mountains
And words spoken softy to you
Tell me what you want me to be
Ask anything you want out of me
I’ll play music for the roundup in spring
I’ll bring prairie flowers fit for a queen
All these, this cowboy will bring to you

– instrumental –

I give to you the lofty mountains
And words spoken softy to you
Tell me what you want me to be
Ask anything you want out of me
I’ll play music for the roundup in spring
I’ll bring prairie flowers fit for a queen
All these, this cowboy will bring to you

The Tears I Cried (Larry W. Jones 04/11/2007) (song#4573)

The tears I cried were because of you
The tears I cried were for love that’s through
There was nothing else that I could do
The tears I cried were for loving you

It feels like those tears are falling in my heart
I feel like a fool who wasn’t very smart
But you know, darlin’, that I did my part
I wish you happiness though we’re apart

– instrumental –

It feels like those tears are falling in my heart
I feel like a fool who wasn’t very smart

The tears I cried were because of you
The tears I cried were for love that’s through
But dear, I’ll keep on loving you
The tears I cried were for loving you
The tears I cried were for loving you

Yes I Will (Larry W. Jones 04/12/2007) (song#4574)

Darling, you ask if I will love you
Yes I will, if you will love me too

If you take this simple man and you agree
That we both give love all we can eternally
If you will take my heart and never part
I will say I will, say I will, yes, I will

Darling, you ask if whether, night or day
I will give to you kisses, come what may
Well, if true love will my life fulfill
I will say I will, say I will, yes, I will

– instrumental –

Darling, may there never be a reason why
That we should not be always together
For if there were, I know that I would cry
You must confer your love on me forever

Darling, take this band I intend for you
And take my hand that I extend to you
If you love me more than anyone before
Say you will, say you will, say you will

High Sierras (Larry W. Jones 04/13/2007) (song#4575)

The gold prospector’s relentless quest
Took him to the peaks of the mountains west
Terra firma they called the High Sierras

I heard the High Sierras when they called to me
And in the High Sierras I felt so free
There I lived life just for me in the High Sierras

– instrumental –

The peaks they called the High Sierras
Reached up to touch the very sky
In those mountains called the High Sierras
It wasn’t much for a man to die

I heard the High Sierras when they called to me
And in the High Sierras I felt so free
There I lived life just for me in the High Sierras

I still hear the High Sierras calling me, calling me
Oh, I hear the High Sierras calling me

Too Little Of Texas (Larry W. Jones 04/14/2007) (song#4576)

He’s got too little of Texas in his talk
He’s got too little of Texas in his walk
He can’t tell a cow pattie from a rock
He can’t even eat jerky without a fork
So, let’s send him back to old New York

He’s got too little of Texas in his hair
He’s got too little of Texas everywhere
Why, when he was up in Amarillo
Didn’t know a hard shelled possum
Is what a Texan calls an armadillo
He hasn’t been to every part of Texas
He doesn’t know the heart of Texas
So, let’s send him back to old New York

– instrumental –

Why, when he was up in Amarillo
Didn’t know a hard shelled possum
Is what a Texan calls an armadillo

He’s got too little of Texas in his talk
He’s got too little of Texas in his walk
Where the sage and bluebonnets bloom
He’s like a page from a book of doom
He’s got too little of Texas
He’s got too little of Texas in his heart
So, let’s send him back to old New York

I Love You More And More (Larry W. Jones 04/14/2007) (song#4577)

I love you more and more
More than I did before
But you say you found somebody new
Well darlin’, I must confess
That I walk this lonely floor
Loving you more and more
Though your love for me is more or less

I love you more and more
And I always will, I guess
You broke my heart and took my love
And everything I possessed
But I keep hoping that the door
Of love will open as before
Though your love for me is more or less

– instrumental –

I remember when I held you close
Back when love was like a rose
Then another love arrived to fill your nest
My whole life departed from your door
But I still love you as before
Though your love for me is more or less

I love you more and more
And I always will, I guess
You broke my heart and took my love
And everything I possessed
But I keep hoping that the door
Of love will open as before
Though your love for me is more or less

I Saw Me In Your Eyes (Larry W. Jones 04/15/2007) (song#4578)

Darlin’, I saw me in your eyes
But that was yesterday
Now all I see are lies
And a love that’s gone away

Darlin’, you saw me and my heart
Yesterday in every kiss
But today we’re far apart
And all I see is loneliness

I remember times before
When I could never ask for more
Our love was ecstasy
But now that I’m out the door
Our love is history

Darlin’, I hope that I can cope
And that my heart won’t die
Because my mind will always grope
For the reasons why I cry

– instrumental –

Darlin’, I hope that I can cope
And that my heart won’t die
Because my mind will always grope
For the reasons why I cry

Darlin’, I saw me in your eyes
But that was yesterday
Now all I see are lies
And a love that’s gone away

Darlin’, I saw me in your eyes
But that was yesterday

Conestoga Wheels (Larry W. Jones 04/15/2007) (song#4579)

Conestoga wheels, conestoga wheels
Keep on a-rollin’, conestoga wheels
Let’s see you a-turnin’, dirt road a-burnin’
Under your wooden spokes and steel

Hee ya, mares, a rest station’s a-waitin’ there
Waitin’ for this conestoga load
Hee ya, bays, we’ve still got to roll a ways
Before we reach the end of the road

– instrumental –

Hee ya, mares, a rest station’s a-waitin’ there
Hee ya, bays, we’ve still got to roll a ways

Conestoga wheels, conestoga wheels
Keep on a-rollin’, conestoga wheels
Let’s see you a-turnin’, dirt road a-burnin’
Under your wooden spokes and steel

Conestoga wheels, conestoga wheels
Keep on a-rollin’
Get this load to the end of the road

Rodeo Star (Larry W. Jones 04/15/2007) (song#4580)

Christopher Columbus sailed afar
He just followed his guiding star
I might never sail into history
But my plans are not a mystery
I just wanna be a rodeo star

Now, old Napoleon sure took a chance
He found Josephine and found romance
In the history books is where they are
But here’s what cooks in my parlance
I just wanna be a rodeo star

– instrumental –

Now, we can’t all be real life heroes
And not all of us are gonna be great
But I’m a cowboy who don’t like zeros
I just wanna be a rodeo star
A rodeo star in the Lone Star state

I’ve got the skill of a wild bronc rider
And ride I will through Texas and wider
I may never be a movie star
But I can’t stand to be an outsider
I just wanna be a rodeo star
I just wanna be a rodeo star

You Have Set My World On Fire (Larry W. Jones 04/15/2007) (song#4581)

Darlin’, you have set my world on fire
I knew it from the start
I felt the flame in my heart
And my eyes see but one desire
There’s no disguise that it’s you
My love for you will burn forever higher

Darlin’, you have inspired an eternal flame
I knew it when you called my name
You’re the dream I’ve been dreaming of
You have set my world on fire with love
Believe me when I claim…

Darlin’, you have set my world on fire
I knew it from the start
I felt the flame in my heart
And my eyes see but one desire
There’s no disguise that it’s you
My love for you will burn forever higher

– instrumental –

Darlin’, you have inspired an eternal flame
I knew it when you called my name

Darlin’, you have set my world on fire
I knew it from the start
I felt the flame in my heart
And my eyes see but one desire
There’s no disguise that it’s you
My love for you will burn forever higher

Darlin’, you have set my world on fire
I knew it from the start
I felt the flame in my heart

I Could Never Waltz Without You (Larry W. Jones 04/15/2007) (song#4582)

My buddies called to see if I was going to the ball
I just told them, maybe next time, and that was all
I didn’t tell them that I was sweeping my lonely room
And they didn’t know that I was weeping in my gloom
Here’s the reasons why and none are false…

I could never waltz without you, darlin’
With someone new I’d only pout about you, darlin’
That day when you left me in this room
You waltzed away and left me in my gloom
My buddies just don’t understand…

I could never waltz to someone else’s tune
Why’d you go and take away our moon
Darlin’, if you’d only return to me
We could waltz through life forever…
Don’t you see

– instrumental –

I could never waltz without you, darlin’
With someone new I’d only pout about you, darlin’
That day when you left me in this room
You waltzed away and left me in my gloom
My buddies just don’t understand…

I could never waltz to someone else’s tune
Why’d you go and take away our moon
Darlin’, if you’d only return to me
We could waltz through life forever…
Don’t you see

Gold Panner Jones (Larry W. Jones 04/15/2007) (song#4583)

Friends, you’re looking at gold panner Jones
Merely a token of the strong bones of yesterday
He’s a no good drifter, is what they cry
They don’t know where I panned along the way
So friends, I’ll tell you of days gone by
Memories are as bright as gold that shines
I may be old but I stood the heat and cold
Panning for gold in eighteen forty nine

Now my companions, some gave me a fit
An ornery bunch but they all ate my stew
And some weren’t very pleasant, I’ll admit
But we split the gold like friends so true
When times were tight, at times we’d fight
But then the gold like the sun would shine
We took a lot of licks but got our kicks
Panning for gold in eighteen forty nine

All my companions I guess I’ll never see
They all drifted like me from coast to coast
All gold panner Jones has is a memory
Of a miner’s dream and sourdough toast
I just drift from town to town, gettin’ old
I used to be rich, now don’t have a dime
Friends, thanks for listening, story’s told
Panning for gold in eighteen forty nine

A Cowboy’s Occupation (Larry W. Jones 04/15/2007) (song#4584)

A cowboy’s occupation is a sorry situation
That everybody thinks is always carefree
Rounding up longhorns in cactus and thorns
And a bedroll at night on the lone prairie

At four in the morning without any warning
Old Cookie lets out with a cry and a yell
It’s up before the first light of day dawning
Eggs and bacon fry with a wonderful smell

– instrumental –

A cowboy’s occupation is a sorry situation
Stampeding cattle in the heat and the cold
A banker has means and we have our beans
Along with our dreams of his silver and gold

A cowboy’s occupation is a sorry situation
I’ve been there and that’s what I’ve told
Now my only locale is around the old corral
My old pals tell me I’m gettin’ too old

Pretty Red Wing (Larry W. Jones 04/16/2007) (song#4585)

Once there lived a pretty little Indian maid
Who sang a love song of her Indian brave
One day there came along a chieftain bold
And to the pretty little Indian maid he told
That a war was going to be fought that day
Her Indian brave he sought to join the fray

The stars don’t shine tonight on pretty Red Wing
Willow trees are crying, prairie breezes sighing
Her brave is not around, he’s fallen to the ground
And pretty little Red Wing’s calling for her love

– instrumental –

Pretty Red Wing watched for him night and day
She kept the campfire burning, come what may
Now under the prairie sky, she wonders why
Why did her brave have to be the one to die

The stars don’t shine tonight on pretty Red Wing
Willow trees are crying, prairie breezes sighing
Her brave is not around, he’s fallen to the ground
And pretty little Red Wing’s calling for her love

I Think Of You (Larry W. Jones 04/16/2007) (song#4586)

Darlin’, you’re oblivious that you’re more than just a friend
Dear, I’m not being devious, I just want you to comprehend

I think of you more than you think I do
I don’t wink at love when love is real
You convey more than mere words say
And you don’t know how my heart feels

Darlin’, when you are near, my world is clear
Every word I hear from you brings me cheer

Darlin’, I need you more each day, indeed I do
I plead with you to make my dreams come true

– instrumental –

I think of you more than you think I do
I don’t wink at love when love is real
You convey more than mere words say
And you don’t know how my heart feels

Darlin’, when you are near, my world is clear
Every word I hear from you brings me cheer

Darlin’, I need you more each day, indeed I do
I plead with you to make my dreams come true
Darlin’, please think of me like I think of you

Trail Of Tears – The Dream We Dreamed (Larry W. Jones 04/16/2007) (song#4587)

There was a time of life sublime
The corn grew tall and strong
Good harvest times were nearing

There was a time of forests prime
Bluebirds sang for all a song
And their song was so endearing

There was a time when life was seldom wrong…

We dreamed a dream in the long ago
When the land was ours without the grieving
We dreamed of peace like a rainbow
And we never dreamed of the day of leaving

Our braves were young and unafraid
But the dreams that they made were all wasted
White men came and the Indians paid
And the bitter Trail of Tears is what we tasted

Buffalo used to roam at night
Their hooves made sounds of thunder
Now our dream is out of sight
White men turned our lives to shame

We used to sleep by the river side
And view the heavens in their wonder
And we never dreamed about the tide
That would sweep away all the game

And still we dreamed that peace would be
That we could live in the land together
But our dreams white men could not see
Our dreams washed away in stormy weather

We dreamed a dream of peace and love
And everything was right, or so it seemed
But the day came we never dreamed of
When white men killed the dream we dreamed

Rider In The Sky (Larry W. Jones 04/16/2007) (song#4588)

I feel like a rider in the sky
Ridin’ so high, oh my, oh my
Darlin’, I’m ridin’ on a carpet made of air
And it’s because you answered my every prayer

I feel like a rider in the sky
Movin’ through the charms of your arms
Swinging from the clouds up above
Like a dancer in a starspangled rodeo of love

I’m a happy cowboy because of you, my dear
You make life’s problems simply disappear
Darlin’, when you’re riding by my side
I feel like a rider in the sky

I feel like a rider in the sky
The warmth of your love is like the sun
My heart melts when I hear you sigh
And I know our happiness has just begun

– instrumental –

I’m a happy cowboy because of you, my dear
You make life’s problems simply disappear
Darlin’, when you’re riding by my side
I feel like a rider in the sky

I feel like a rider in the sky
The warmth of your love is like the sun
My heart melts when I hear you sigh
And I know our happiness has just begun

I feel like a rider
Just like a rider
I feel like a rider in the sky

In Love With Her Madly (Larry W. Jones 04/18/2007) (song#4589)

I know my friends are well meaning
Trying to save me from myself
But with her there’s no intervening
Cause I just can’t help myself

She smiles so sweet and lovely
She’s my lovey dovey
I’ve got it badly
I’m in love with her madly

When my heart trends down and lonely
She doesn’t mend in just name only
I’ve got it badly
I’m in love with her madly

When the old barn dance is jumpin’
And Cotton Eyed Joe comes around
That girl and me are really somethin’
Boot scootin’ at the old hoedown

She loves me like I love her
And all my friends concur
I’ve got it badly
I’m in love with her madly
Yeah, I’ve got it badly
I’m in love with her madly

I Found A Prairie Rose (Larry W. Jones 04/20/2007) (song#4590)

Growing on the prairie, lovely as a fairy grows
I found a prairie rose
Wide open spaces, where love graces hearts
Warm embraces, where true love starts

There I kissed her, won’dring how others missed her
And her mother dear, shed a lonesome tear
For her prairie baby, who would go away
I said that maybe, we’d return someday

I found a prairie rose, among the purple sage
Growing all alone, little prairie rose
On her the prairie sun was shining
For her all clouds had silver lining
I found a prairie rose, among the purple sage
The day I came, she was mine to claim
On the prairie stage where peace dwells in repose
I found the heart of an angel
Among the purple sage, I found a prairie rose

– instrumental –

There I kissed her, won’dring how others missed her

I found a prairie rose, among the purple sage
Growing all alone, little prairie rose
On her the prairie sun was shining
For her all clouds had silver lining
I found a prairie rose, among the purple sage

On the prairie stage where peace dwells in repose

Among the purple sage, I found a prairie rose

Way Down Here In Mexico (Larry W. Jones 04/20/2007) (song#4591)

I told her I couldn’t face that uptown mob
So, I gave up that low down job
Now, I’m as brown as you’ll ever know
Way down here in Mexico

I’ve learned to speak a little Taco Bell
Got a nice physique by the ocean’s swell
Darlin’, you oughta see me on the go
Way down here in Mexico

This life I’m livin’ sure is fine
But there’s one thing still on my mind
I miss you more than you’ll ever know
Way down here in Mexico

– instrumental –

Yeah darlin’, my life has really changed
When you left, my life was rearranged
Love doesn’t go back and forth, you know
I lost you north of the border of Mexico

This life I’m livin’ sure is fine
But there’s one thing still on my mind
I miss you more than you’ll ever know
Way down here in Mexico

This life I’m livin’ sure is fine
But there’s one thing still on my mind
I miss you more than you’ll ever know
Way down here in Mexico

Yeah darlin’, I’ll just go with flow
Way down here in Mexico

Cowboy Second To None (Larry W. Jones 04/20/2007) (song#4592)

Well, looking at what I’ve got and what I’ve not
Here’s what I see. Satisfaction a-looking back at me
Yeah, looking at what I’ve got and what I’ve not
Here’s what I see. Simple life with which I can agree

I got no big spread, King’s Ranch is not in my employ
But like I said, I’m a lot of happy cowboy
I’ve got the Texas sun and the Texas moon can’t be outdone
I got no big corral, but I’m the real McCoy
Just like I said, I’m a lot of happy cowboy
I’ve got the Texas sun and the Texas moon can’t be outdone

The Texas sun brings me a brighter day
The Texas moon lights up the Milky Way
Now, I got no money in the banks
But I got country music from all the Hanks
I’ve got the Texas sun and the Texas moon can’t be outdone
And with the Texas moon and the Texas sun
I’m a cowboy second to none

– instrumental –

I got no big spread, King’s Ranch is not in my employ
But like I said, I’m a lot of happy cowboy

The Texas sun brings me a brighter day
The Texas moon lights up the Milky Way
Now, I got no money in the banks

Gotta Find My Cowgirl Baby (Larry W. Jones 04/21/2007) (song#4593)

I’m gonna ride all the way to Silver City
Gonna knock on every door
I’ve gotta recover that lost kitty
The one I don’t see anymore

I’ve gotta find my cowgirl baby
And mister, that ain’t no lie
My heart is tired of loving
Someone I can’t see with my eye

I’m gonna ride toward the sun
That I can see setting in the west
I’ve gotta find the only one
Who’s forgetting my life is in a mess

– instrumental –

Since that day she rode away
She thought that she and I were through
That might have been true yesterday
But one day she’ll see me comin’ into view

I’ve gotta find my cowgirl baby
And mister, that ain’t no lie
My heart is tired of loving
Someone I can’t see with my eye

It Hurts To Hurt All The Time (Larry W. Jones 04/22/2007) (song#4594)

Everyday I feel the burden
Of words spoken at goodbye
And everyday since then, darlin’
In every way I want to cry
It hurts to be alone and free
And watch the time rollin’ by
I can’t convert this memory
Into tomorrow’s bye and bye

Darlin’, you’re still in my heart
And you know you’re on my mind
That will never die and depart
As long as I’m among mankind
Darlin’, it still makes me sad
To think we had to draw the line
And it hurts to hurt all the time

– instrumental –

I try to hold on to every minute
But time will take some of them away
In every one of them, you’re in it
And I’ve got plenty left to stay
I don’t look forward to tomorrow
So, I just look back at yesterday
Don’t you hear the sorrow when I say…

Darlin’, you’re still in my heart
And you know you’re on my mind
That will never die and depart
As long as I’m among mankind
Darlin’, it still makes me sad
To think we had to draw the line
And it hurts to hurt all the time
Yes darlin’, it hurts to hurt all the time

Miss Mary Canseco From Waco (Larry W. Jones 04/22/2007) (song#4595)

Her song was merry, a canary of the prairie
On the banks of the Pecos
She came from Waco, Miss Mary Canseco
On the banks of the Pecos

Her song was romantic
Before long my heart was in panic
I fell in love with Miss Mary Canseco from Waco

– instrumental –

Her song was romantic
Before long my heart was in panic
I fell in love with Miss Mary Canseco from Waco

Her dance set the purple sage in motion
Like waves of the ocean

Her song was merry, a canary of the prairie
On the banks of the Pecos
The girl from Waco stole my heart, I can say so
Miss Mary Canseco from Waco
On the banks of the Pecos

Ears To Hear And Arms To Hold You (Larry W. Jones 04/22/2007) (song#4596)

Darlin’, I have two ears to hear with
But I hear only you
And what I say is not a myth
An angel’s voice sounds the same

Darlin’, I have arms to hold you too
What else are arms supposed to do
And every time I hear your name
I hold out my arms for you again

Tonight you’re here by me
And it’s as clear as day
That you’re so dear to me, darlin’
Even when you’re miles away

I have ears to hear and arms to hold you
And I’ve already told you from the start
Darlin’, when you’re not even in my view
I hear your voice and hold you in my heart

– instrumental –

Tonight you’re here by me
And it’s as clear as day
That you’re so dear to me, darlin’
Even when you’re miles away

I have ears to hear and arms to hold you
And I’ve already told you from the start
Darlin’, when you’re not even in my view
I hear your voice and hold you in my heart

I Hear Country Music (Larry W. Jones 04/22/2007) (song#4597)

I hear country music
Honky tonk country music
Coming from the juke box over there
Like a moaning steel guitar in the air
That’s Texas music
Honky tonk country music
The sound of boots scootin’ across the floor
Hollars and hoots for more, more, and more
But the best country music I like to hear
Is you, darlin’, whis’prin’ in my ear
I hear country music
Honky tonk country music
Now, how could anything go wrong
Long as I can sing this country song…

– instrumental –

I hear country music

Coming from the juke box over there
Like a moaning steel guitar in the air

Wineing Up At Joe’s (Larry W. Jones 04/23/2007) (song#4598)

I’m still wineing up at Joe’s
By that juke box in the corner
Most of the time I’m staring at the floor

The bartender knows I’ve got the blues
But he still pops a top for you
And I can’t stop staring at the door

I’m still wineing up at Joe’s
And I know all my friends know why
They play your favorite songs while I cry

Old Joe just pays attention to the bar
He never does mention where you are
Or ask me why our love was ending
Darlin’, I wished upon a star
To let me wine and dine you at Joe’s bar
But I guess there ain’t no new beginning

I’m still wineing up at Joe’s
I’m always here until they close
Everybody knows where to find me

And darlin’, if you still have a care for me
Joe can find an empty chair, I suppose
That’s why I’m still wineing up
That’s why I’m still wineing up
Wineing up at Joe’s

Texas Rose (Larry W. Jones 04/23/2007) (song#4599)

Nobody’s rosier than my Texas Rose
She grows on me every day
Nobody’s rosier than my Texas Rose
She just glows in every way

Texas Rose used to be plain to me
Now it’s plain to see she’s my one desire
Texas Rose is now my sweet destiny
It’s a treat when she sets my soul on fire
Nobody’s rosier than my Texas Rose…

– instrumental –

Texas Rose is now my sweet destiny
It’s a treat when she sets my soul on fire

Texas Rose is my special one
She gives me all her precious love
Texas Rose is my morning sun
She’s all I’m always thinking of
Nobody’s rosier than my Texas Rose…

Take Me Back To Texas (Larry W. Jones 04/23/2007) (song#4600)

Western nights get cold and lonely out on the trail
Pushing cattle to Colorado through the rain and hail
These cowboy songs I’m singing make me want to cry
Take me back to Texas, to the lovelight in her eyes

Take me back to Texas, been on this cattle trail too long
I can listen to the Mockingbird warble through his songs
Take me back to Texas, just outside of old San Antone
Cause back there in Texas my darlin’ bride is all alone

– instrumental –

Take me back to Texas, just outside of old San Antone
Cause back there in Texas my darlin’ bride is all alone

Everytime I pack my saddlebags and then I ride away
Looking back I see the love my darlin’s blue eyes say
This trail looks mighty lonesome this far from home
Take me back to Texas, just outside of old San Antone
Take me back to Texas to my Texas home
