Hurricane Jones (Larry W Jones 09/12/2019) (song #7601)

Well, my own Daddy’s name was Ivy
But he was known as Hurricane Jones
Yes, he was kin to the wayward wind
Mama saw that was the way with him

    He was born in Louisiana
And my dear Mama was born there too
Now, I was born in Port Arthur
Right in the middle of World War Two

Hurricane Jones was my Daddy’s name
Maybe the wayward wind was to blame
Hurricane Jones didn’t leave no stones
His life rolled on as Hurricane Jones

    (Instrumental)

My Mama raised us kids in Texas
While Daddy worked anywhere he could
Well digger or on a garbage truck
And Gladstell sawmill where he stacked wood

When I saw my Mama’s hungry eyes
And her tired fingers worked to the bone
That’s when I wondered where Daddy was
Just like a hurricane he was gone

Hurricane Jones was my Daddy’s name
Maybe the wayward wind was to blame
Hurricane Jones didn’t leave no stones
His life rolled on as Hurricane Jones

Hurricane Jones didn’t leave no stones
His life rolled on as Hurricane Jones

The Blue Moon Of Kentucky Is Gold (Larry W Jones 09/17/2019) (song #7602)

Now, Kentucky moons have come and gone
But all those moons ain’t as have been told
Folks, don’t pay attention to that song
The blue moon of Kentucky is gold

So now folks, take off your blue blindfold
And what’s more, it ain’t made of swiss cheese
That old blue Kentucky moon is gold
And folks, if you go there you will freeze

    (Instrumental)

Now, that Kentucky blue grass ain’t blue
Blue moons of Kentucky ain’t blue too
How confused can you get in your mind
When you’re blue on Kentucky moonshine

Those Kentucky moons ain’t blue, they’re gold
Kentucky blue grass ain’t blue, it’s green
So, don’t pay attention to what’s told
Grass is green and moons have a gold sheen

    (Instrumental)

Well now folks, it’s high time to come clean
Don’t get caught up in that old song mold
Kentucky blue grass is really green
And old blue Kentucky moons are gold

The blue moon of Kentucky is gold

I Rode Away To Stay Alive (Larry W Jones 09/18/2019) (song #7603)

I was ridin’ down the trail from San Antony
When I met a cowgirl who was skin and bony
I said, you’re the purdiest girl I’ve seen alive
And that’s when she drew her forty-five
So, I rode away to stay alive

I was ridin’ down the trail from San Antony
When I met a cowgirl who was not so bony
    I said, you’re the purdiest girl I’ve seen a-spell
And that’s when she said, git or I’ll yell
So, I rode away from that fine belle

    (Instrumental)

I was ridin’ down the trail from San Antony
When I met a cowgirl on a little pony
I said, girl you look like the apple of my eye
She said, cowboy you’re about to die
So, I rode away and said bye bye

I was ridin’ down the trail from San Antony
When I met a cowgirl who appeared quite homey
I said, girl my fences need mended
She said, I know how cows are tended
So, we rode away with hearts blended

Now she’s got all my fences mended
And she’s got all of my cows tended
And now this song is ended, Yee Ha!

Ballad Of Montana McCoy (Larry W Jones 09/19/2019) (song #7604)

I well recall the night when he strolled in
Weather was frigid from a new cold snap
I don’t rightly know just where to begin
An oilskin coat covered the tall bold chap
He stood at the long bar rail looking tired
Then ordered a shot and gazed all around
He was a wrangler whom some folks admired
But the look on his face was full of frown

Here’s to those good cowboys now dead and gone
To all the pals that I hold dear
If anyone asks who must move along
    Say Montana McCoy was here

Then from his mouth came words quiet and low
Now, listen pards and I’ll tell you my tale
This man of the west packs a heavy load
And never more will I wrangle cow trails
I rode out of Billings and Alberton
All the way to Bridger and Yellowstone
But cattle trails have scarred this western son
And now on safer trails is where I’ll roam

Here’s to those good cowboys now dead and gone
To all the pals that I hold dear
If anyone asks who must move along
    Say Montana McCoy was here

One awful day in the cold wind and rain
We were driving cattle quite far from town
There were five of us from Helena grange
And one young cowboy from Sheridan Mound
We were all cowboys who rode the far range
Never once did we stop to count the cost
But now when I think back it seems so strange
That on one bad day five good pals were lost

Here’s to those good cowboys now dead and gone
To all the pals that I hold dear
If anyone asks who must move along
    Say Montana McCoy was here

The storm it caused a big cattle stampede
Hooves were heard pounding in the rain that poured
We rode like the wind, didn’t give no heed
That we might never see our homes no more
The lead cows were circled but none were slowed
While all of us hoped they would settle down
The whole herd looked like a river that flowed
Where a cowboy might fall and surely drown

Here’s to those good cowboys now dead and gone
To all the pals that I hold dear
If anyone asks who must move along
    Say Montana McCoy was here

The cattle were ragin’ and runnin’ wild
We cowboys tried to get the upper hand
Along with the wild herd we too were riled
Riding like all good cowboys for the brand
When I awoke the night had turned to dawn
I dragged myself to my horse feeling sore
Then I cussed that herd over what they’d done
And vowed to never drive cattle no more

Here’s to those good cowboys now dead and gone
To all the pals that I hold dear
If anyone asks who must move along
    Say Montana McCoy was here

Now, ever since that awful day and night
I’ve been roamin’ and tryin’ to forget
That wild stampede where we lost the fight
I can see the faces of lost pals yet
And sometimes at night when the moon is high
I can feel the wind tearing at my skin
I hear cowboys who never said goodbye
All five of them were like my next of kin

Here’s to those good cowboys now dead and gone
To all the pals that I hold dear
If anyone asks who must move along
    Say Montana McCoy was here

Mighty Mount Rainier (Larry W Jones 09/25/2019) (song #7605)

We drove out from Seattle with the weather clear
Four of us set to climb the mighty Mount Rainier
Bob from Montana and Bill from Indiana
Myself and Joe with all our trusty climbing gear

    Rainier, Mount Rainier
Mountaineers have climbed and some died in awful fear
    Mighty Mount Rainier

While on Emmons Glacier strong winds began to blow
Sight was lost in the snow of Bob and Bill and Joe
I was alone and the outlook was mighty bleak
But I was a mountaineer mighty near the peak

    Rainier, Mount Rainier
Mountaineers have climbed and some died in awful fear
    Mighty Mount Rainier

    (Instrumental)

Now here I am on the summit of Mount Rainier
I’ll die on this summit even with trusty gear
Folks in Seattle will wonder if I’ll get down
But I fear there’s no time for rescue comin’ round

    Rainier, Mount Rainier
Mountaineers have climbed and some died in awful fear
    Mighty Mount Rainier

    Rainier, Mount Rainier
Mountaineers have climbed and some died in awful fear
I’ll die on this summit of mighty Mount Rainier

Conditions Of Your Heart (Larry W Jones 09/25/2019) (song #7606)

Conditions of your heart, like foreign missions past
Once they were pure but now you’re not sure you love me
Conditions of your heart won’t let love for me last
You have found someone to position above me

Conditions of your mind, like leaves change in the Fall
Once your thoughts were fine but now I see the sign of
Conditions of your mind won’t see love after all
After all done to condition you for my love

    (Instrumental)

Conditions of your heart, like page additions made
Once read with such laughter but now and hereafter
Conditions of your heart have made love for me fade
Though I prayed your heart’s condition I could capture

Conditions of your heart and mind slipped through my hands
Once I held them both but now I loathe them the most
Conditions of your heart I’ll never understand
Though I tried so hard to condition your true love

Conditions of your heart, like foreign missions past
Conditions of your heart won’t let love for me last

But I Wish You Well (Larry W Jones 09/25/2019) (song #7607)

Dear, in my heart I can tell that you’ll go
My ears can hear it as clear as a bell
And my open eyes tell me that it’s so
I have lost your love but I wish you well

But I wish you well and now it’s goodbye
I thought our love would last for quite a spell
But now I’ll just have myself one good cry
I have lost your love but I wish you well

    (Instrumental)

We were brought up poor but you wanted gold
My pockets never were deep as the dell
Guess I never did have a solid hold
I have lost your love but I wish you well

Well dear, I have lost but I wish you well
When you leave I’ll be alone in my cell
Like the song I’ll still love you right or wrong
I have lost your love but I wish you well

Like the song I’ll still love you right or wrong
I have lost your love but I wish you well

Mae Is As Cold As November (Larry W Jones 09/25/2019) (song #7608)

Mae is as cold as November
Mae is as cold as November

Here comes lovely Mae, girl all guys adore
When she smiles she sweeps them all off the floor
Each guy she passes by puts on a show
But there’s one thing all of them just don’t know

Mae is as cold as November
Her heart is like a cold ember
One love said no, she remembers
Mae is as cold as November

    (Instrumental)

Here comes lonely Mae, saddest girl in town
And she won’t let the good guys gather round
Like a diadem she looks like a gem
Oh, but Mae has no heart to offer them

Mae is as cold as November
Her heart is like a cold ember
One love said no, she remembers
Mae is as cold as November

One love said no, she remembers
Mae is as cold as November

My Strongest Moments (Larry W Jones 09/25/2019) (song #7609)

I tried to say goodbye, I tried to say we’re through
You just want my money cause that’s enough it’s true
Oh, I tried to be strong but I know it’s no use
My strongest moments are my weakest links for you

Now, in my strongest moments I want someone new
But your kiss is bliss and there’s nothing I can do
So dear, I just give in the way it’s always been
My strongest moments are my weakest links for you

    (Instrumental)

One day it might be over and I’ll be alright
I’ll just close my mind and then you’ll be out of sight
But then I think again just when I’m on the brink
My strongest moments are my weakest links for you

I tried to say goodbye, I tried to say we’re through
You just want my money cause that’s enough it’s true
Oh, I tried to be strong but I know it’s no use
My strongest moments are my weakest links for you

Oh, I tried to be strong but I know it’s no use
My strongest moments are my weakest links for you

I’ve Grown Up With A Pain In My Heart (Larry W Jones 09/25/2019) (song #7610)

I can’t lie as these bitter tears
All fall down like a broken dam
They started with me back some years
When this pain in my heart began

I was born with sounds loud and long
Quarrels and fighting from the start
And in my mind I hear them strong
I’ve grown up with pain in my heart

    (Instrumental)

Now that I’m grown I look at me
And when I look I only see
Two broken hearts that played a part
For what it’s worth the birth of me

Thanks Ma and Pa for what you’ve done
I’m just the raisin’ as your son
Thank you for my creation’s start
I’ve grown up with pain in my heart

Thank you for my creation’s start
I’ve grown up with pain in my heart

Dayspring Valley Singer (Larry W Jones 09/26/2019) (song #7611)

As I strolled through the dayspring valley
I could hear a song unfoldin’
It felt as though the dayspring valley
    Prepared my heart for a-mouldin’

I heard the tune of a violin
    I heard one songbird a-singin’
But none could rival the softest sound
Of some dear one’s voice a-ringin’

It lined the trees and it lined the sky
Oh, it lined the dayspring valley
I never saw what filled me with awe
The song singer close around me

Though sounding distant, the words were plain
For my heart could feel their sorrow
I felt their sadness, I felt their pain
    Grief, the dayspring valley borrowed

I heard the tune of a violin
    I heard one songbird a-singin’
But none could rival the softest sound
Of some dear one’s voice a-ringin’

I still stroll through the dayspring valley
Though in vain, there long I linger
    My despondent heart searches gladly
    For the dayspring valley singer

I heard the tune of a violin
    I heard one songbird a-singin’
But none could rival the softest sound
Of some dear one’s voice a-ringin’

I still stroll through the dayspring valley
Though in vain, there long I linger
    My despondent heart searches gladly
    For the dayspring valley singer

Reminders Hang Around (Larry W Jones 09/26/2019) (song #7612)

Now, my idea was that life would renew
Not like it was back then
And that I would forget the strife and you
    So I could fly again

But reminders hang around, hang around
Of broken love and promises that stay
And the coming heartaches of tomorrow
Are fed by the teardrops of yesterday

    (Instrumental)

Now, sad and melancholy is my life
    I remember back when
And reminders hang around, hang around
    I’ll never love again

Now, I know I cannot erase you dear
Though we’re apart you’re still here in my heart
And reminders hang around, hang around
Like Mona Lisa’s faded work of art

And reminders hang around, hang around

Every Bit Like You (Larry W Jones 09/26/2019) (song #7613)

Only a lady every bit like you
Can change for good only a man like me
Cause someone who is like myself alone
Can’t be strong as every bit like you

Only a lady every bit like you
Can change for good only a man like me
Cause without your love I would be so weak
A lady every bit like you I seek

    (Instrumental)

Down every lane I’ll need a helping cane
On every road I carry heavy loads
Only a lady every bit like you
Can help me get along and follow through

I need someone to share my smallest dream
To help me cross the widest swollen stream
Only a lady every bit like you
Can guide along me with a love that’s true

    (Instrumental)

Only a lady every bit like you
Can guide along me with a love that’s true
Only a lady every bit like you
    Every bit like you

Riding Down Trail On A Mustang (Larry W Jones 09/27/2019) (song #7614)

My saddle bags are packed and now strapped on
The gate is open and soon I’ll be gone
Looks like another Montana big sky
I hate to leave you but I have to go
Cold wind is blowin’, it’s startin’ to snow
Will you be sorry that I said goodbye

Babe, I’ll miss you when I think of you
The songs I’ll sing will be sung for you
But my arms are those you couldn’t hold
I’m riding down trail on a mustang
I may never ride up trail again
Babe, some things are better left untold

    (Instrumental)

I remember times in Helena town
The big saloon was where you doubled down
You played your cards and at the bar you’d sing
Every trail I ride will draw trouble too
But I’ll hide my pride when I think of you
I can’t ride back cause it won’t mean a thing

Babe, I’ll miss you when I think of you
The songs I’ll sing will be sung for you
But my arms are those you couldn’t hold
I’m riding down trail on a mustang
I may never ride up trail again
Babe, some things are better left untold

    (Instrumental)

Now the snow is fallin’ and I must go
The long trail I’ll ride you will never know
Babe, when you awake I’ll be far away
Don’t bother to dream of our by-gone days
Though your tears may stream I’ll be like a haze
Riding down trail on a mustang always

Babe, I’ll miss you when I think of you
The songs I’ll sing will be sung for you
But my arms are those you couldn’t hold
I’m riding down trail on a mustang
I may never ride up trail again
Babe, some things are better left untold

I’m riding down trail on a mustang
Riding down trail on a mustang
    Down trail on a mustang

Punkin Chunkin Pie (Larry W Jones 09/27/2019) (song #7615)

Come to the punkin chunkin and sit at my lunch table
You can eat punkin chunkin pie all day if your able
We’ll watch them chunkin punkins far as you and I can see
Come eat some punkin chunkin pie with me

We don’t need a reason cause it’s the season for romance
Out in the punkin field you and I can take a sweet chance
Eatin’ punkin pie with the polished apple of my eye
I’m your guy eatin’ punkin chunkin pie

Come to the punkin chunkin, let me whisper in your ear
My heart goes bumpin’ bumpin’ any time you’re near
I get the feelin’ that forever you will be
Here eatin’ punkin chunkin pie with me

    (Instrumental)

We don’t need a reason cause it’s the season for romance
Out in the punkin field you and I can take a sweet chance
Eatin’ punkin pie with the polished apple of my eye
I’m your guy eatin’ punkin chunkin pie

Come to the punkin chunkin, let me whisper in your ear
My heart goes bumpin’ bumpin’ any time you’re near
I get the feelin’ that forever you will be
Here eatin’ punkin chunkin pie with me

Eatin’ punkin chunkin pie with me
Eatin’ punkin chunkin pie with me

Vanishing Cowboy (Larry W Jones 09/27/2019) (song #7616)

I remember my grandpa riding through the gate
Wondering why beef sold at such a lower rate
I remember with sadness his once famous brand
Lying in his casket with bridle in his hand

It’s like heresy when a legacy has gone away
Good cowhands riding for the brand have gone to yesterday
He’s a vanishing cowboy who rode like the wayward wind
When he grew old he chose dominoes with his friends

    (Instrumental)

Grandpa knew days were comin’, he didn’t wonder
His banker issued summons that seemed like plunder
But grandpa was a cowboy, lived the cowboy code
He kept the ranch but had to have the whole herd sold

A four lane divided freeway crosses my grandpa’s ranch
The graveyard worker couldn’t see I was my grandpa’s branch
The dirt he shoveled in would soon grow flowers for his shade
I stood there for hours by a good vanishing cowboy’s grave

It’s like heresy when a legacy has gone away
Good cowhands riding for the brand have gone to yesterday
He’s a vanishing cowboy who rode like the wayward wind
When he grew old he chose dominoes with his friends

He’s a vanishing cowboy who rode for the brand

Blue Angel Highway (Larry W Jones 09/27/2019) (song #7617)

Well, I know it’s just another highway
But it’s been takin’ me too far from home
I’m rollin’ but if I had it my way
I’d not leave my blue angel home alone

Every mile I drive I think about you
I’ve gotta quit drivin’ before I’m dead
An angel but I leave my angel blue
It’s a blue angel highway straight ahead

    Oh, this blue angel highway
Eighteen gears to push and shove
    Oh, this blue angel highway
Runs between me and your love

    (Instrumental)

Well, I know it’s just another highway
But it’s been takin’ me too far from home
I’m rollin’ but if I had it my way
I’d not leave my blue angel home alone

One more twilight at a cheap road motel
I know you left a light on back at home
And when I phone you darlin’ I can tell
Blue angel highway left you all alone

    Oh, this blue angel highway
Eighteen gears to push and shove
    Oh, this blue angel highway
Runs between me and your love

    Oh, this blue angel highway
Runs between me and your love

Stronger Man Longer Gone (Larry W Jones 09/27/2019) (song #7618)

Well, the saddest thing to do in life
Is to walk away from grief and strife
But I’ve seen it coming on so long
I’ll be a stronger man longer gone

I would never go if you loved me
But love, I see that will never be
I’ll get lost and count the cost alone
I’ll be a stronger man longer gone

    (Instrumental)

I’ll build up my self esteem and pride
Just as soon as these old tears have dried
And I’ll sing a better old love song
I’ll be a stronger man longer gone

When I’m gone I won’t be looking back
Gonna be a long way down the track
Longer days will have more sunny dawns
I’ll be a stronger man longer gone

And I’ll sing a better old love song
I’ll be a stronger man longer gone

I Can’t Shake You From My Mind (Larry W Jones 09/27/2019) (song #7619)

I’ve never felt so hopeless as I’m feeling now
Cause you drove away with a frown across your brow
My world just fell apart and now for you I’ll pine
You’ll take my heart but I can’t shake you from my mind

This burning side of pain is like a glowing flame
And it’s the kind of flame that won’t go out with time
There remains an ember I’ll always remember
You’ll take my heart but I can’t shake you from my mind

    (Instrumental)

If I could turn back the time then all would be fine
But these memories will never be history
You’ll take my heart but I can’t shake you from my mind
At least not until the end of eternity

This burning side of pain is like a glowing flame
And it’s the kind of flame that won’t go out with time
There remains an ember I’ll always remember
You’ll take my heart but I can’t shake you from my mind

There remains an ember I’ll always remember
You’ll take my heart but I can’t shake you from my mind

Her Old Whipping Post (Larry W Jones 09/28/2019) (song #7620)

I know she’ll return cause I’m still her old concern
No matter just how many bridges she has burned
She likes to run around but she likes me the most
Some will think it gross but I’m her old whipping post

Sure as the setting sun she’ll be getting someone
She’ll be tying up his heart just for her own fun
And when she gets through then I will be her new host
Some will think it gross but I’m her old whipping post

    (Instrumental)

She thinks whipping hearts doesn’t hurt, oh but it does
When she starts my heart feels stung by a mad bee buzz
Some men she leaves alone but with me she’s engrossed
Some will think it gross but I’m her old whipping post

I know she’ll return cause I’m still her old concern
No matter just how many bridges she has burned
She likes to run around but she likes me the most
Some will think it gross but I’m her old whipping post

She likes to run around but she likes me the most
Some will think it gross but I’m her old whipping post

You Don’t See Me (Larry W Jones 09/28/2019) (song #7621)

You look right straight at me
    And then to my demise
I see that you don’t see
All the love in my eyes
You know my name it’s true
But why am I so blue
I know you don’t see me

No, you don’t see the man
Who wants to hold your hand
And wants to see the day
When “I do” you will say
My poor heart’s full of woe
Cause I can’t be your beau
I know you don’t see me

Oh, that fine day will never come
I’ll never be your only one
For I can see that you don’t see
All the fine things you mean to me

No, you don’t see the man
Who wants to hold your hand
And wants to see the day
When “I do” you will say
My poor heart’s full of woe
Cause I won’t be your beau
I know you don’t see me

You look right straight at me
    And then to my surprise
I see that you now see
All the love in my eyes
You know my love is true
You say you love me too
Now I know you see me

You know my love is true
You say you love me too
Now I know you see me

If This Planet Had A Veranda (Larry W Jones 09/28/2019) (song #7622)

That veranda was where my Mama hummed as she knitted
That veranda was where my Daddy wore clothes she fitted
It was where we ate apple pie, listened to the wind sigh
Where we played guitar and fiddle and sang to heaven high

That veranda saw summer nights when we gazed at the stars
That veranda saw lightning bugs kids put in Mason jars
It was where I fell in love and realized my first kiss
It was where I realized that life is a precious gift

If this planet had a veranda like we had back home
Back to it we’d all meander from where we all had roamed
If this planet had a veranda as we had back then
We would all come together and not scattered to the wind

    (Instrumental)

Watermelon and home made ice cream we all served and shared
We played Fish and Battle and other card games fair and square
That veranda always had a small window light left on
Mama and Daddy knew sons and daughters would come back home

If this planet had a veranda like we had back home
Back to it we’d all meander from where we all had roamed
If this planet had a veranda as we had back then
We would all come together and not scattered to the wind

If this planet had a veranda like we had back home
We would all come together and not scattered to the wind

Was That A Heartbreak (Larry W Jones 09/28/2019) (song #7623)

Well, I never expected what I heard last night
My answer machine had on a blinking red light
When I turned it on it played back yesterday’s scene
I listened intently for what her message means

She started off by saying that she was just fine
But somehow I started to read between her lines
I thought I heard a scrape or the tape wasn’t clean
Was that a heartbreak on my phone message machine

    (Instrumental)

Oh, at first her voice was filled with purpose and poise
When I played the tape back I detected some noise
I thought I heard a scrape or the tape wasn’t clean
Should I call her back this late to see what it means

She started off by saying that she was just fine
But somehow I started to read between her lines
I thought I heard a scrape or the tape wasn’t clean
Was that a heartbreak on my phone message machine

Was that a heartbreak on my phone message machine

Written In Code (Larry W Jones 09/28/2019) (song #7624)

I was driving downtown when I turned the radio on
Then I heard the prettiest sound from a well written song
Each and every line seemed refined and pretty soon I knew
That love song was written in code all about me and you

That song was written in code
    The melody of it showed
And every line of it told
All about your love and mine

    (Instrumenal)

I began smiling from ear to ear with joy on my face
I was the happiest man in all earth’s human race
That love song was written in code all about me and you
And I knew as it flowed that all my sweet dreams would come true

That song was written in code
    The melody of it showed
And every line of it told
All about your love and mine

That song was written in code
All about your love and mine

By Examples Made (Larry W Jones 09/28/2019) (song #7625)

I was just nine when I picked up a dime
But it was not mine so I was afraid
My Daddy said son this won’t be much fun
But you must learn by good examples made

I know this will hurt son but I hurt more
While growing I want you to make good grades
The golden rule is worth more than gold ore
Life will be good with good examples made

    (Instrumental)

I learned by good examples that ran deep
And I knew those lessons would never fade
I counted my blessings while counting sheep
I would always live by examples made

My Daddy was a man whom I loved so
Took me to games where popcorn overflowed
I learned to drive his truck although quite slow
Ten miles or so down a long country road

    (Instrumental)

My Daddy loved life and spoke with a drawl
By examples made, made me know it all
I went to see the world, went everywhere
Many years passed before I got the call

By examples made, made me know it all
I went to see the world, went everywhere
Many years passed before I got the call
Back at home Daddy was no longer there

Texas On My Mind (Larry W Jones 09/28/2019) (song #7626)

Well, I’m packin’ my bags with Texas tags
Gonna fly to where they fly Texas flags
There I’ll spend some time on hill country wine
All will know I’ve got Texas on my mind

I’ve got some high and low friends in Austin
And none of them sound like they’re from Boston
I speak Texan and know my accent’s fine
I’ll consent I’ve got Texas on my mind

    (Instrumental)

Give me bluebonnets and warm spring weather
Ain’t no harm smellin’ old saddle leather
Think of all the stars as the lone star kind
Yeah, so far I’ve got Texas on my mind

Well, I’m packin’ my bags with Texas tags
Gonna live where they give big Texas brags
Got a pinin’ for findin’ what’s behind
I ain’t blind, I’ve got Texas on my mind

(The eyes of Texas are upon me)
Yeah, I’ve got Texas on my Mind

Ken Burns Country Music (Larry W Jones 09/29/2019) (song #7627)

Ken Burns country music film was a big hit everywhere
It made folks around the world wish that they were really there
Ken Burns country music film made his’try with country songs
It made folks around the world join voices and sing along

It all started in nineteen thirty three
Jimmie Rodgers and the Carter fam’ly
    Recorded songs in Bristol Tennessee
And as they say the rest is history

Ken Burns country music film was a big hit everywhere

Nashville was the heart of country music
In the Great Depression and World War II
Movies fell in love with singing cowboys
Roy Acuff, Texas Swing, the Opry too

Ken Burns country music film was a big hit everywhere

Kentucky bluegrass spread from Bill Monroe
Hank Williams was the Hillbilly Shakespeare
Johnny Cash, Elvis, Patsy are no more
With Ken Burns country music they’re still here

Ken Burns country music film was a big hit everywhere

Sons and Daughters of America glowed
And the Circle was unbroken we hear
Now, Hank didn’t get above his raisin’
But if young Hank done it this way ain’t clear

Ken Burns country music film was a big hit everywhere
It made folks around the world wish that they were really there
Ken Burns country music film made his’try with country songs
It made folks around the world join voices and sing along

Ken Burns country music was a lot more than film and song

Sky Rocket Empty Pocket Blues (Larry W Jones 09/30/2019) (song #7628)

Now, I try to make a livin’ while givin’ every day
But I gave my last dollar to an invoice yesterday
I had no choice if in this shanty house I want to stay
And inflation ain’t covered in my weekly weekend pay

No, inflation ain’t covered and it’s in sky rocket mode
I’m on the docket for past city bills they say I owe
Wall Street just took another big dive in the evening news
I just lose, I’ve got the sky rocket empty pocket blues

    (Instrumental)

When payday rolls around the cost of living is compound
Some folks eat filet mignon, I have drumsticks for rib bones
My spouse who keeps the house wants to buy a new summer blouse
All bad news, I’ve got the sky rocket empty pocket blues

Sky rocket inflation has almost got me to drinkin’
A good thing I can’t afford it is what I’ve been thinkin’
My empty pockets have holes and don’t hold nothing but clues
Yep you knew, I’ve got the sky rocket empty pocket blues

My empty pockets have holes and don’t hold nothing but clues
Yep you knew, I’ve got the sky rocket empty pocket blues

    Haven’t You Learned (Larry W Jones 10/01/2019) (song #7629)

Haven’t you learned I’m a bride to be
Haven’t you learned he’s the groom to be
On her left hand was a wedding band
I thought I would cry, thought I would die
Her words to me burned, haven’t you learned

Well, I was lost for words, her words hurt
And I wished that I had been more alert
I moved too slow for her love to grow
I thought I would cry, thought I would die
Her words to me burned, haven’t you learned

    (Instrumental)

Haven’t you learned I’m a bride to be
Haven’t you learned he’s the groom to be
She kissed that guy then she waved goodbye
I thought I would cry, thought I would die
Her words to me burned, haven’t you learned

Her words to me burned, haven’t you learned
My poor heart hurt and my stomach churned
But what hurt most, she was unconcerned
Her words to me burned, haven’t you learned
Her words to me burned, haven’t you learned

Look And See Who Shadowed Me Home (Larry W Jones 10/01/2019) (song #7630)

My buddies and I had a good time
And I was glad you weren’t on my mind
I never did think of you at all
And we had us a wonderful ball

But look and see who shadowed me home
    Your memory’s still my legacy
You had to know I was all alone
Cause look and see who shadowed me home

    (Instrumental)

You were following me through the door
Felt your presence as never before
My heart broke in pieces, right in two
And the pain increases over you

Oh, look and see who shadowed me home
    Your memory’s still my legacy
You had to know I was all alone
Cause look and see who shadowed me home

    (Instrumental)

You had to know I was all alone
Cause look and see who shadowed me home
Look and see who shadowed me home
You, oh you shadowed me home

Too Late To Be Mine (Larry W Jones 10/01/2019) (song #7631)

My darling I waited such a long time
    For you to come around
I wanted to share our world together
    When you got settled down

Oh, where have you been dear for so long now
I waited but you never sent a sign
I guess it doesn’t matter anyhow
Cause you came around too late to be mine

    (Instrumental)

But darling I found someone without you
My heart got impatient and couldn’t wait
Although I knew that I shouldn’t doubt you
I went ahead and gave my heart away

Oh, where have you been dear for so long now
I waited but you never sent a sign
I guess it doesn’t matter anyhow
Cause you came around too late to be mine

I guess it doesn’t matter anyhow
Cause you came around too late to be mine
You came around too late to be mine

Zero Minus One (Larry W Jones 10/02/2019) (song #7632)

Well, I’m a zero minus one, look what I’ve done
And this zero I am is what I’ll always be
Been a minus a thousand times, look at the signs
Yeah, I’m a zero minus one just constantly

In love I’ve never been a hero
A zero has been my one game
I’m so good at losin’ at love
Zero minus one is my name

    (Instrumental)

Well, I’m a zero minus one, look what I’ve done
And this zero I am is what I’ll always be
Been a minus a thousand times, look at the signs
Yeah, I’m a zero minus one just constantly

Oh, more than once I played the dunce
    I groped for things I couldn’t find
So, if you want to poke some fun
Zero minus one, I’m so blind

Well, I’m a zero minus one, look what I’ve done
Less than zero, I’m no hero
    I’m a zero minus one
    Zero minus one

La Escalera Rancho (Larry W Jones 10/02/2019) (song #7633)

Randa Jean heard him singing Cielito Lindo
Before his gentle pony reached the big corral
Gerald rode through La Escalera chaparral
Every evening when the day was about twilight
Gerald and Randa Jean started out together
A young vaquero with his bride whom he loved so
In a cabin on La Escalera Rancho

Gerald caught the scent of warm manzana cobbler
As soon as he rounded the narrow canyon rim
He felt just as warm inside and often wondered
What the lovely Randa Jean ever saw in him
For Randa had dreamed of city life and mansions
A moneyed life with fancy clothes and stylish bows
But she chose Gerald’s La Escalera Rancho

Gerald and Randa Jean never made good money
But they both worked the land while happy just the same
She called him querido and she was sweet miel
And Randa Jean was proud to share the Lyda name
All their ninos and ninas grew up and prospered
They moved away from La Escalera Rancho
From the small cabin on the ranch that would see fame

When dust bowl days would blow sand in the summer wind
It sounded just like wild coyotes with no end
Those days drew them ever closer as the weather
Brought them together as lovers and best of friends
Years passed by and after fifty as man and wife
They were still there on La Escalera Rancho

And after all those years of matrimonio
All we ninos and ninas faced our saddest test
We said goodbye to beloved dad Gerald Monday
As we laid him away in his best Sunday vest
Mama Randa Jean would live on a few more years
And we recalled all their hard and good times with tears
Living in a cabin on La Escalera Rancho

Gerald and Randa Jean never made good money
But they both worked the land while happy just the same
She called him querido and she was sweet miel
And Randa Jean was proud to share the Lyda name
All their ninos and ninas grew up and prospered
They moved away from La Escalera Rancho
From the small cabin on the ranch that would see fame

Gerald and Randa Jean never made good money
But they both worked the land while happy just the same
She called him querido and she was sweet miel
And Randa Jean was proud to share the Lyda name

Since You Never Have Forever In View (Larry W Jones 10/05/2019) (song #7634)

Well, I’m walking the line while you’re walking the edge
I take it easy while you’re on a downhill sledge
You live without thinking of how long you will last
I want love that’s not measured by short term forecasts

Since you never have forever in view
Since you never have forever for two
Your heart will never beat in time with mine
I can’t stay here and be easy to find

    (Instrumental)

When the dance has ended you’re not even winded
Don’t be offended if intentions are amended
You live without thinking of how long you will last
I want love that’s not measured by short term forecasts

Since you never have forever in view
Since you never have forever for two
Your heart will never beat in time with mine
I can’t stay here and be easy to find

Since you never have forever in view

Until Someone Better Comes Along (Larry W Jones 10/06/2019) (song #7635)

I don’t like to bet but sometimes I do
And now I’ll bet that I’ll be losing you
I was never a go getter in love
I’ll bet there’s someone else you’re thinking of

So, I don’t know why we keep on dancing
Though the country song sounds so entrancing
    I won’t be brokenhearted, I’ll be strong
Strong until someone better comes along

    (Instrumental)

I never owned a mansion on a hill
And I’ll bet that in time I never will
But I own a heart that’s heavy as gold
And I bet I’ll never own you to hold

So, I don’t know why we keep on dancing
Though the country song sounds so entrancing
    I won’t be brokenhearted, I’ll be strong
Strong until someone better comes along

    (Instrumental)

I don’t like to bet but sometimes I do
And now I’ll bet that I’ll be losing you
I was never a go getter in love
I’ll bet there’s someone else you’re thinking of

    I won’t be brokenhearted, I’ll be strong
Strong until someone better comes along

    Deed I Do (Larry W Jones 10/08/2019) (song #7636)

I love you, indeed I do (deed I do)
You love me, indeed you do (deed you do)
It’s no joke and it’s carved on every oak
Love, indeed I do and indeed you too

Dreams come true, indeed they do (deed they do)
We’re a team, indeed we are (deed we are)
There’s a moonbeam in the sky made for two
I love you, indeed I do (deed I do)

    (Instrumental)

Dreams come true, indeed they do (deed they do)
We’re a team, indeed we are (deed we are)
There’s a moonbeam in the sky made for two
I love you, indeed I do (deed I do)

There’s a moonbeam in the sky made for two
I love you, indeed I do (deed I do)
Yes, indeed I do (deed I do)

Back In The Scene Of Texas Swing (Larry W Jones 10/09/2019) (song #7637)

Well, I was feeling down where downers dwell
Been acquiring the blues for quite a spell
Things are looking up like a filled up cup
Cause I made the scene of good western swing

Yeah, I’m back in the scene of Texas Swing
There’s no downers here, just good Lone Star beer
Twin fiddles and Tommy Duncan singin’
Bob Wills and His Playboys swingin’ I hear

    (Instrumental)

There’s Spade Cooley and His Buckle Busters
Oh yeah, Adolph Hofner and His Texans
Cliff Bruner and His Texas Wanderers
Don’t forget Milton Brown and his Brownies

Yeah, I’m back in the scene of Texas Swing
There’s no downers here, just good Lone Star beer
Twin fiddles and Tommy Duncan singin’
Bob Wills and His Playboys swingin’ I hear

    (Instrumental)

Gotta find me a girl and have some fun
Take a chance cause the night is nearly done
Go boot scootin’ with ol’ Bob Wills the king
Yeah, I’m back in the scene of Texas Swing

Yeah, I’m back in the scene of Texas Swing
There’s no downers here, just good Lone Star beer
Twin fiddles and Tommy Duncan singin’
Bob Wills and His Playboys swingin’ I hear

Back in the scene of Texas Swing

Hiking Song (Larry W Jones 10/09/2019) (song #7638)

Oh, I love to go a-hiking
    Along the Rocky Mountain trail
And singing is to my liking
O’re the high hill and through the vale

    Chorus:
    Trail a-ree, trail a-ro
Trail a-ree, trail a-ro ho ho ho ho
    Along the Rocky Mountain trail

I love to hike beside the stream
    Diamonds shining in the sun
So full of joy it sings to me
I am the happy hiking one

    Chorus:

I say howdy to folks I meet
They say hello right back to me
    Wild huckleberries taste so sweet
Growing under the tall fir trees

    Chorus:

High in the sky the skylarks wing
The Rocky Mountains are their home
I love to hear the skylarks sing
Above the trails on which I roam

    Chorus:

Oh, may my days of wandering
Go on until the day I die
Grant me power to hike and sing
    Beneath Jehovah’s clear blue sky

    Trail a-ree, trail a-ro
Trail a-ree, trail a-ro ho ho ho ho
    Along the Rocky Mountain trail

Have I Confessed Already (Larry W Jones 10/11/2019) (song #7639)

Have I confessed already how I love you
And just how much my whole heart will allow
Have I confessed there is no one above you
Well dear, I confess my love to you now

My poor heart would suddenly weaken
My hopes would be beaten down somehow
All my dreams I could not believe in
If you refuse my loving you now

    (Instrumental)

My poor heart would suddenly weaken
My hopes would be beaten down somehow
All my dreams I could not believe in
If you refuse my loving you now

Have I confessed already how I love you
Under each full moon I make a vow
Have I confessed to stars above you
Well dear, I confess my love to you now

Have I confessed already how I love you
Well dear, I confess my love to you now

On The Brigantine (Larry W Jones 10/12/2019) (song #7640)

Mates, get your sea bags in order
We sail with the tide tomorrow
Heave away, sea dogs, heave away
Mates, get your sea bags in order

We’ll sail across the blue water
Heave away, sea dogs, heave away
Mates, we’re bound on the brigantine
    On the brigantine bound away

    Tomorrow we’re bound for Cadiz
Mates, the girls there are entrancing
Then cross oceans to New Orleans
    Where Creole girls are a-dancing

    So, fare-thee-well sweet Maggie dear
Heave away, sea dogs, heave away
On the outbound sea swell we’ll steer
Heave away, sea dogs, heave away

    Tomorrow we’re bound for Cadiz
Mates, the girls there are entrancing
Then cross oceans to New Orleans
    Where Creole girls are a-dancing

We’ll sail across the blue water
Heave away, sea dogs, heave away
Mates, we’re bound on the brigantine
    On the brigantine bound away

Little Brown Jug Of Rye (Larry W Jones 10/13/2019) (song #7641)

My dog and I live all alone
I eat raw meat and he eats bone
He catches flies and I like rye
Oh, we’ll be pals until he dies

Oh, ho ho ho, old dog and me
Little brown jug of rye I see
Oh, ho ho ho, old dog and me
Little brown jug don’t have no fleas

Little brown jug ain’t got no goals
Like my old clothes got many holes
I crawl around on all my fours
When it’s tipped up then down it pours

    Chorus:

When I toil I roll up my sleeves
Work, my little brown jug relieves
Beneath a tall and shady tree
Little brown jug will comfort me

    Chorus:

Oh, I’m kinfolk to Adam’s race
    Scattered over every old place
A lot of them have an old dog
And little brown jug that brings fog

    Chorus:

If I’d a horse on which to ride
I’d saddle him and spur his side
I’d feed him hay til old and gray
And ride him forty miles a day

    Chorus:

    Roses are red, violets blue
My nose is red which gives a clue
Little brown jug, start at the top
Then drink it down to the last drop

Oh, ho ho ho, old dog and me
Little brown jug of rye I see
Oh, ho ho ho, old dog and me
Little brown jug don’t have no fleas

Hobo Bill Lullaby (Larry W Jones 10/13/2019) (song #7641)

Drift off to sleep Bill, you lowly hobo
Let the wide world roll slowly by
Long rails of steel you will follow
    To the Hobo Bill lullaby

Don’t keep tomorrow on your mind
For that new day will come and go
In your warm boxcar you will find
That you will sleep through cold and snow

    (Instrumental)

Railroad bulls may cause you trouble
They do their job with live or die
But tonight in hay you’ll huddle
    To the Hobo Bill lullaby

Hobo Bill, don’t you be troubled
You’re not the only hobo bum
Your old mother mends your duffle
    To the Hobo Bill lullaby

Drift off to sleep Bill, you lowly hobo
    To the Hobo Bill lullaby

First Day Of Moose Season (Larry W Jones 10/13/2019) (song #7642)

I recall with no good reason
T’was the first day of moose season
Fall came upon me bright and clear
Got my rifle down with my gear
Got my quota as I deduce
One Mountie, one Marshall, one Ranger and a moose

Maybe my mind was in a daze
And my eyes had a fine haze
Or maybe that full hunter’s moon
Made me as crazy as a loon
Guess I’ve run out of no excuse
One Mountie, one Marshall, one Ranger and a moose

    (Instrumental)

    Canadian law’s down in writing
    Took away my hunting license
They took them off my truck fender
Said their hides I couldn’t render
And that I might swing by a noose
One Mountie, one Marshall, one Ranger and a moose

Folks still ask me how I did it
I didn’t know they forbid it
But if you hear a big buck snort
Just shoot first then empty the quart
They’re all mounted on plaques of spruce
One Mountie, one Marshall, one Ranger and a moose

In The Old Armadillo Saloon (Larry W Jones 10/15/2019) (song #7643)

Well, I just thought about calling
And maybe I will do that soon
But right now dear, tears are falling
    In the old Armadillo Saloon

    If you’re ever in Amarillo
Darling, I hope it will be in June
You could dry up a weeping willow
    In the old Armadillo Saloon

In here they play on their old guitars
Sad sad songs about those long lost days
And from the jukebox the same sad tunes
    In the old Armadillo Saloon

    (Instrumental)

Well, I just thought about calling
And maybe I will do that soon
But right now dear, tears are falling
    In the old Armadillo Saloon

    If you’re ever in Amarillo
Darling, I hope it will be in June
You could dry up a weeping willow
    In the old Armadillo Saloon

    If you’re ever in Amarillo
You’ll find me, dear you’ll find me right here
    In the old Armadillo Saloon
    In the old Armadillo Saloon

Great Hall Of Memories (Larry W Jones 10/16/2019) (song #7644)

If you see a lonely man named Dan
Please try to cheer him up if you can
On the fly his darlin’ said goodbye
Now he cries and here’s the reason why

I’m in the Great Hall of Memories
    Love was a great documentary
But now it’s too late for her and me
I’m in the Great Hall of Memories

    (Instrumental)

He never thought their love would grow dim
He loved her and thought that she loved him
He can’t help it when the teardrops flow
If you ask Dan why he’ll let you know

I’m in the Great Hall of Memories
    Love was a great documentary
But now it’s too late for her and me
I’m in the Great Hall of Memories

    (Instrumental)

I’m in the Great Hall of Memories
    Love was a great documentary
But now it’s too late for her and me
I’m in the Great Hall of Memories

Sobre Las Olas Over The Waves (Larry W Jones 10/16/2019) (song #7645)

Sometimes when life’s problems pursued me
When days were dreary and skies were gray
Daddy’s fiddle often played to me
Sobre Las Olas Over The Waves

Sobre las olas un barco va
Over the waves I waltz far away
Como la gente de mi ciudad
Sobre las olas I play today

    (Instrumental)

I remember the old red schoolhouse
Folks would come for the Saturday dance
It ended for a man and his spouse
With Sobre Las Olas for romance

Sobre las olas un barco va
Over the waves I waltz far away
Como la gente de mi ciudad
Sobre las olas I play today

    (Instrumental)

    Y muy feliz me siento
How happy I feel hearing that waltz
Sobre Las Olas Over The Waves
Back to those days go all of my thoughts

Sobre las olas un barco va
Over the waves I waltz far away
Como la gente de mi ciudad
Sobre las olas I play today

Music That Was Mine Yesterday (Larry W Jones 10/18/2019) (song #7646)

Yesterday the closed lotus bud had grown to full bloom
Like music that filled my now empty halls and dark rooms
Your sweet love was the music that since has gone away
Time won’t erase the music that was mine yesterday

You were a roamer and now I’m a loner
Alone with music I only will sing
Together we made music for dancing
That happy yesterday will never bring

    (Instrumental)

Yesterday the closed lotus bud had grown to full bloom
Like music that filled my now empty halls and dark rooms
Your sweet love was the music that since has gone away
Time won’t erase the music that was mine yesterday

Now I must be satisfied with splendors
That live in memories of the long past
    Memories that forever will linger
In yesterday for love we thought would last

    (Instrumental)

Yesterday the closed lotus bud had grown to full bloom
Like music that filled my now empty halls and dark rooms
Your sweet love was the music that since has gone away
Time won’t erase the music that was mine yesterday

Yesterday the closed lotus bud had grown to full bloom
Like music that filled my now empty halls and dark rooms
Your sweet love was the music that since has gone away
Time won’t erase the music that was mine yesterday

Barrel Of Beer (Larry W Jones 10/19/2019) (song #7647)

Now, often I’ve mentioned though not with intention
That a barrel of beer is better if emptied
So, I’ll get to the point of what I really want
If you’ll roll out the barrel someone invented

I like a barrel of beer when emptied
Makes me feel tranquil (beer he can handle)
Eighty proof rye I never buy because
I don’t deny the high price makes me pause
But with a barrel of beer I’m tempted
I like a barrel of beer when emptied
Makes me feel tranquil (beer he can handle)

Now, my spouse in the house says I look like a louse
When we go out to eat she orders a sweet treat
Oh, she likes triple sec but what the heck my dear
I ask if the waiter has a barrel of beer

I like a barrel of beer when emptied
Makes me feel tranquil (beer he can handle)
Eighty proof rye I never buy because
I don’t deny the high price makes me pause
But with a barrel of beer I’m tempted
I like a barrel of beer when emptied
Makes me feel tranquil (beer he can handle)

Now, night before last I dreamed that my life had passed
And that I had gone to some fair sweet bye and bye
A pub was quite near and they had barrels of beer
But when I got one empty I smelled like rye

I like a barrel of beer when emptied
Makes me feel tranquil (beer he can handle)
Eighty proof rye I never buy because
I don’t deny the high price makes me pause
But with a barrel of beer I’m tempted
I like a barrel of beer when emptied
Makes me feel tranquil (beer he can handle)

A barrel of beer I can handle

I Pastured Up My Chance To Herd Her (Larry W Jones 10/20/20190 (song #7648)

I was a cowboy and she was a cowgirl
Working at one-trick Dan’s wild horses spread
Somewhere twixt horse biscuits and hayfever
Someroan wrangled her from Dan’s ranch and fled

Boys, I pastured up my chance to herd her
That dude lassoed her with words so bovine
And then they rode off the ranch in a hoof
Oh no, now she’ll never be my equine

    (Instrumental)

He ponied up and horsed around the ring
I trough that she cud see through his foaling
Neigh I’m horse from crying and whinnying
She pelt for his horse play like a real foal

Boys, I pastured up my chance to herd her
That dude lassoed her with words so bovine
And then they rode off the ranch in a hoof
Oh no, now she’ll never be my equine

    (Instrtumental)

If my heart gets stable-ised then I cud
Get hoof a leg up and end this night mare
    Because neigh A-mare-ican cowboy should
Ever be colt with no sweet filly there

Boys, I pastured up my chance to herd her
That dude lassoed her with words so bovine
And then they rode off the ranch in a hoof
Oh no, now she’ll never be my equine

I’m only hoof finished but it’s time to hit the hay

Out To Pasture Now (Larry W Jones 10/22/2019) (song #7649)

The county clerk has had his say
A ranch is sold if it doesn’t pay
And I’m too old the note to pay
    I’m out to pasture now

I’ve owned this ranch many a day
Good cowboys came from miles away
They’re all gone and my hair is gray
    I’m out to pasture now

Guess I know how a buckboard feels
    When tumbleweeds cover its wheels
Can’t pay for the court of appeals
    I’m out to pasture now

So I’ll give old Dan one more ride
Hang my saddle and hang my pride
The fire to fight done gone and died
    I’m out to pasture now

A good tax man has often said
Count income or you’ll be in red
I did, it was all overhead
    I’m out to pasture now

My money tree don’t bear no fruit
I’m too old for rodeo chutes
    I’ll just say I don’t give a hoot
    I’m out to pasture now

January Cowboy (Larry W Jones 10/23/2019) (song #7650)

The January cowboy rides in a coat of oiled leather
The February cowboy holds down his hat with a firm hand
The cowboy of March looks for clear signs of better weather
The April cowboy stokes the fire for the flaming hot brand

The cowboy of May dresses up in duds for the barn dance
And the June cowboy drives the longhorn herd along the trail
The July cowboy spurs the sides to make his pony prance
And the cowboy of August hides from the thunderstorm’s hail

    (Instrumental)

The September cowboy drives the last herd in the new Fall
And the October cowboy feels the frost on his shoulder
The cowboy of November sings songs with a southern drawl
While the December cowboy feels like he’s five years older

The January cowboy looks back at eleven brothers
As he begins his new ride in a coat of oiled leather
Oh, how long will the January cowboy and his brothers
Ride the wide ranges of the West, will it be forever

Carson City Annie (Larry W Jones 10/24/2019) (song #7651)

The trail she took is long, steep and narrow
Gonna ride that trail straight as an arrow
    Gonna ride to Carson City
    Ride to Carson City
Gonna ride to Carson City, cowgirl
That wild west town’s where I’m gonna find you

I asked the folks here, have you seen Annie
Said she rode away to a new valley
Rode the trail to Carson City
    Gone to Carson City,
Gonna ride to Carson City, cowgirl
That wild west town’s where I’m gonna find you

Ridin’ down Main Street and then right on Main
Searchin’ for a cowgirl in the cold rain
Well, I rode to Carson City
    Rode to Carson City
Well, I rode to Carson City, Annie
This wild west town’s where I’m gonna find you

Went to a saloon lookin’ for my hun
She was dancin’ with a man with big gun
    Rode away from Carson City
    Way from Carson City
Rode away from Carson City Annie
Stay right there and I don’t mind if you do

Cowboys, here’s one thing you should never do
If a girl named Annie says she loves you
    Stay away from Carson City
    Way from Carson City
Stay away from Carson City Annie
Don’t ride the trail there whatever you do

Scene When I Started To Weep (Larry W Jones 10/25/2019) (song #7652)

Sometimes living is like a picture show
The screen is big and the tickets are cheap
I played the lead and I went with the flow
The scene was real when I started to weep

I played the part of the loser, the fool
She played her best part when I was asleep
The old movie reel rolled with someone new
He kissed her lips when I started to weep

    (Instrumental)

The show was over and the credits rolled
He was the hero and I was the creep
I got the award, a statue of gold
For the big scene when I started to weep

I played the part of the loser, the fool
She played her best part when I was asleep
The old movie reel rolled with someone new
He kissed her lips when I started to weep

Sometimes living is like a picture show
Cause I played the lead and sorrow I know

Fifty Eight Ford Fairlane (Larry W Jones 10/27/2019) (song #7653)

Here’s the photo of our fifty eight Ford Fairlane
That Fairlane Five Hundred convertible looked fine
Black as shiny coal with red trim is how it came
Would be great if we could cruise in it one more time

Darlin’, I still feel the thrill just thinking
Of the neat places you and I drove to
I remember watching bright stars winking
In our fifty eight Ford Fairlane with you

    (Instrumental)

They don’t make convertibles like Ford used to do
Darlin’, if they did then I would buy one again
I wouldn’t care if it was black and red or blue
Long as it was like our fifty eight Ford Fairlane

Darlin’, I still feel the thrill just thinking
Of the neat places you and I drove to
I remember watching bright stars winking
In our fifty eight Ford Fairlane with you

    (Instrumental)

Recall darlin’ putting the top up in the rain
And listening to George Jones on the radio
I remember some of the country songs we sang
And corn dogs ordered at the drive-in picture show

Darlin’, I still feel the thrill just thinking
Of the neat places you and I drove to
I remember watching bright stars winking
In our fifty eight Ford Fairlane with you

Fifty eight Ford Fairlane convertible with you

Song Of Someone (Larry W Jones 10/28/2019) (song #7654)

Hard is the downpour of the rain
A song of someone as it falls
Warm drops against the window panes
Summer tears on my roof and walls

And from the refuge of my head
Beyond the distance of my eyes
I see the place where love was bred
And where the song of someone lies

    With thoughts distracted and confused
My mind is many leagues away
Across the sea with love unused
A song of someone starts my day

A song of someone left undone
Key words that need a better rhyme
I still try but I’m finding none
Now I’m past my natural prime

I will see what tomorrow brings
Maybe some song will give a clue
Some lines might show the strangest things
Like what happened to me and you

Hard is the downpour of the rain
A song of someone as it falls
Winter has come and it’s so plain
Cold are tears on my roof and walls

A song of someone as it falls

    A Million Marvels (Larry W Jones 10/30/2019) (song #7655)

I don’t despise you cause I still loved you
Through all the hard times when you made me blue
Now, it’s a million marvels that I do
But I still want both my arms around you

Dear, I miss you though I cannot forget
That awful day you told me we were through
And you should know that I still want you yet
Though it’s a million marvels that I do

    (Instrumental)

Marvels only come once in a million
If you’ll return dear, I will welcome you
And I’ll be willing to forget the past
Though it’s a million marvels that I do

Marvels only come once in a million
If you’ll return dear, I will welcome you
And I’ll be willing to forget the past
Though it’s a million marvels that I do

It’s a million marvels but I love you

Good At Goodbye (Larry W Jones 11/09/2019) (song #7656)

Well, Jim said to think it over twice
And maybe I should heed his advice
Don’t give dreams of love another try
Jim said that she’s real good at goodbye

My buddy Joe warned me once before
Don’t put a welcome mat at my door
Cause the tears I’ll cry may never dry
Joe said that she’s real good at goodbye

    (Instrumental)

Now, my old chum Bob raised his eyebrow
When he heard that I might take a vow
Maybe I should come down from the sky
Bob said that she’s real good at goodbye

All my pals have warned me once before
Don’t put a welcome mat at my door
Cause the tears I’ll cry may never dry
They said that she’s real good at goodbye

But my heart still wonders why
Why she’s real good at goodbye

On Heartbreak Hill Just Up The Road (Larry W Jones 11/20/2019) (song #7657)

Heartbreak Hill is what they call it
For seeds of love that didn’t grow
True love died when my heart got hit
On Heartbreak Hill just up the road

On Heartbreak Hill the sun was warm
And at night lover’s moons would glow
Why things changed guess I’ll never know
On Heartbreak Hill just up the road

    (Instrumental)

Oh, she looked like a work of art
In a frame of beautiful gold
I didn’t know heartaches would start
On Heartbreak Hill just up the road

On Heartbreak Hill the sun was warm
And at night lover’s moons would glow
Why things changed guess I’ll never know
On Heartbreak Hill just up the road

Bottle On The Table (Larry W Jones 11/22/2019) (song #7658)

To an old tavern down the road I go most every night
Trying to lighten the load of a love that wasn’t right
This old tavern holds everything needed to tell it all
A bottle on the table neath a photo on the wall

Thumbtacks hold a lot of old photos and one dollar bills
Stuck to the walls by men from here to Nebraska’s Black Hills
One is an old photo of her and me having a ball
A bottle on the table neath a photo on the wall

    (Instrumental)

Jukebox is saying that somebody done somebody wrong
And while it’s playing I know that it’s my personal song
I’ll stay right here humming along until the closing call
A bottle on the table neath a photo on the wall

Thumbtacks hold a lot of old photos and one dollar bills
Stuck to the walls by men from here to Nebraska’s Black Hills
One is an old photo of her and me having a ball
A bottle on the table neath a photo on the wall

This old tavern holds everything needed to tell it all
A bottle on the table neath a photo on the wall

    Amigo’s Lonely Guitar (Larry W Jones 12/08/2019) (song #7659)

Today there is singing in Sonora
But tomorrow you will travel afar
Darling, hold me close if you still love me
While amigo plays his lonely guitar

Aye yi yi yi the full moon is weeping
And I’ll be keeping you here in my heart
In the goodbye morning my sweet darling
I’ll feel like amigo’s lonely guitar

    (Instrumental)

Tonight there’s no singing in Sonora
There’s no laughter under bright Texas stars
Amigo plays a ballad of sadness
Upon the strings of his lonely guitar

Aye yi yi yi the full moon is weeping
And I’ll be keeping you here in my heart
In the goodbye morning my sweet darling
I’ll feel like amigo’s lonely guitar

In the goodbye morning my sweet darling
I’ll feel like amigo’s lonely guitar

If It Ain’t BrokeTitle (Larry W Jones 12/11/2019) (song #7660)

There’s an old weathered man named Cowboy Jones
Lives on a ranch raising buckskins and roans
He works outdoors in the heat and the cold
With steady head and a heart made of gold

He don’t pay union dues, behind on news
Thinks everyone’s entitled to his views
Jones plays his guitar for anyone near
And thinks it sounds good to hearing aid ears

And he says if it ain’t broke don’t fix it
But if it goes together then mix it
And if it’ll never come don’t wish it
If it ain’t broke don’t fix it’s what he says

    (Instrumental)

Some folks ride around in big fancy cars
But his old Dodge pickup goes just as far
He’s seen times go lean and business hobbled
But there’s Dairy Queen and old McDonalds

Jones taught all his kids to do what is good
And they all grew up doin’ what they should
Colors of people ain’t just black and white
Just do what you can and do what is right

And he says if it ain’t broke don’t fix it
But if it goes together then mix it
And if it’ll never come don’t wish it
If it ain’t broke don’t fix it’s what he says

If it ain’t broke don’t fix it’s what Jones says

Love For You Alone (Larry W Jones 12/27/2019) (song #7661)

Dear, you alone can make my world spin right
Oh, you alone can wake sweet dreams at night
Yes, you alone can make them all come true
You fill my heart with love for you alone

Dear, you alone can change my destiny
Your love alone was always meant to be
You alone know just how to hold my hand
Dear, I will stand by you and you alone

    (Instrumental)

Dear, you alone can make my world spin right
Oh, you alone can wake sweet dreams at night
Yes, you alone can make them all come true
You fill my heart with love for you alone

Dear, you alone can change my destiny
Your love alone was always meant to be
You alone know just how to hold my hand
Dear, I will stand by you and you alone

You alone know just how to hold my hand
Dear, I will stand by you and you alone

A Little More Time (Larry W Jones 01/01/2020) (song #7662)

Each and every day seems to be the same
A new kiss, a promise to keep love’s flame
Another worry and a hill to climb
I know you haven’t found big promised dreams
Those are always a step ahead it seems
Darling please give me a little more time

Now, sweetheart a few small dreams have come true
And someday the big ones will come to you
But for now it’s just the work-a-day grind
One day a fresh new rainbow will appear
I see it forming and I know it’s near
Darling please give me a little more time

    (Instrumental)

Now, sweetheart a few small dreams have come true
And someday the big ones will come to you
But for now it’s just the work-a-day grind
One day a fresh new rainbow will appear
I see it forming and I know it’s near

Timepiece Ticking (Larry W Jones 01/09/2020) (song #7663)

Timepiece ticking on my left wrist
Counting the hours since I’ve been kissed
Little watch watching me in bed
    Knowing there’s lonely hours ahead

Just one hour more of sunshine bright
    Timepiece counting down to midnight
    Daylight savings ain’t saving me
The time ain’t right for love to be

    (Instrumental)

Timepiece rolling just like a wheel
Knowing each second how I feel
Mounted in a bezel of gold
Counting the days and growing old

Just one hour more of sunshine bright
    Timepiece counting down to midnight
    Daylight savings ain’t saving me
The time ain’t right for love to be

    Timepiece ticking away my dreams
    Love disappearing down the stream

Along That Long Road Toward Home (Larry W Jones 01/13/2020) (song #7664)

My thoughts are of you as I sit here alone
I’m thinking of you when I’m so far from home
Here in my lonely world I don’t want to stay
So, my darling I’ll soon be heading your way

Oh, I’m lonely and blue and now I must roam
Right back to you along that long road toward home

    (Instrumental)

My mind is troubled and my poor heart’s in pain
And my search for fortune has turned out in vain
I have nothing to show and nothing to gain
All treasures I left behind down mem’ry lane

Oh, I’m lonely and blue and now I must roam
Right back to you along that long road toward home

    (Instrumental)

There’s a small cottage at the foot of a hill
Close to the stream and an old shuttered sawmill
Here in my lonely world I don’t want to stay
So, my darling I’ll soon be heading your way

Oh, I’m lonely and blue and now I must roam
Right back to you along that long road toward home
Oh, I’m lonely and blue and now I must roam
Right back to you along that long road toward home

The Other Side Of The Song (Larry W Jones 01/20/2020) (song #7665)

I thought our love would read like a ballad
An anthem where two hearts could sing along
When you left those words became invalid
Now I’m on the other side of the song

The other side of the song
Where dreams of love don’t belong
    I can’t believe I’m now on
The other side of the song

    (Instrumental)

Now, some think it’s funny how tables turn
How sunny days are just fables and wrong
Some sweet dreams are only bridges to burn
Now I’m on the other side of the song

The other side of the song
Where dreams of love don’t belong
    I can’t believe I’m now on
The other side of the song

    (Instrumental)

Darling, you don’t know how it hurts and stings
And you don’t care to know what’s going on
No melody can be played on the strings
When I’m on the other side of the song

The other side of the song
Where dreams of love don’t belong
    I can’t believe I’m now on
The other side of the song

That Old San Angelo Swing (Larry W Jones 01/26/2020) (song #7666)

    Him:
There’s a cowgirl in west Texas I call my better half
She’s from San Angelo and loves to sing
Out there in west Texas she’s a beautiful photograph
More than a picture of this cowboy’s dream

    Her:
There’s a cowboy down in Houston I think is so handsome
He’s a Texan and loves to sing old songs
Now, my Mama said he don’t own a big old king’s ransom
But here in my heart is where he belongs

Him: There’s a dance we do in San Angelo
Her: We do it Summer, Fall, Winter and Spring
Both: So, join us on the floor and feel the flow
Both: Cause it’s called that old San Angelo Swing

    (Instrumental)

Him: Now, when two Texans dance together there’s an old sayin’
Her: True love has been found on a sawdust floor
Him: Oh, I love to be swayin’ while twin fiddles are playin’
Her: Cowboy, now this has been worth waitin’ for

Both: Yeah, it’s called that old San Angelo Swing

The Flying Dutchman And Me (Larry W Jones 02/02/2020) (song #7667)

A bottle of rum pleases the sailor
But it’s just the sailin’ that pleases me
Billy he was a blue water whaler
And like me he loved to be fancy free

We climbed high riggin’ for seaman’s wages
The deck from the top yard arm far below
An old sailor’s tale rings through the ages
Of the Flying Dutchman lost in the blow

Billy was as wild as a blue norther
And I reckoned he had makins’ like me
He said goodbye to mother and father
Young Billy the Flying Dutchman and me

Now ladies of Spain we do adore you
But never forget we’re men of the sea
Sailors of the salty brine through and through
Young Billy the Flying Dutchman and me

We rounded the Cape Of Good Hope one night
And stormy waves they were thirty feet high
The Table Bay light was nowhere in sight
Billy and I had faces full of fright

Then out of the storm an apparition
A ship with torn sails on the wild tossed sea
So we steered in its wake toward Table Bay
Young Billy, the Flying Dutchman, and me

It was near dawn when we made the harbor
Where was the ship that saved us from the sea
An old sailor’s tale that night grew larger
Young Billy, the Flying Dutchman, and me

Boxcars Rolling Far From Home (Larry W Jones 02/03/2020) (song #7668)

With raindrops coming through the cracks and teardrops on my sack
This old boxcar’s the only thing I call my own
My heart’s always pining while that locomotive’s whining
Pulling a hundred boxcars rolling far from home

I had a love who was Texan with a fine complexion
But her love words I could not be dependent on
Now this old train ain’t warm but it keeps my poor heart from harm
Pulling a hundred boxcars rolling far from home

    (Instrumental)

I ain’t one for nitpicking as steel wheels keep on clicking
Hopping boxcars keeps me busy just hanging on
Warm tears sometimes get me choking as that stack is smoking
Pulling a hundred boxcars rolling far from home

Down to my last bottle as he opens up the throttle
These old rails will take me to where I’ve never gone
My mind is full of worry but this train’s in no hurry
Pulling a hundred boxcars rolling far from home

These old rails will take me to where I’ve never gone
Pulling a hundred boxcars rolling far from home

Texarkana Gal (Larry W Jones 02/04/2020) (song #7669)

I can tell you’re from the border
    Texas, Louisiana and Arkansas
That beautiful smile on your face
Is the prettiest one I ever saw
    Texarkana gal I love you

    Texarkana gal hear my call
In you’all you’re the best one of them all
Nobody else can take your place
I love to look upon your smiling face
    Texarkana gal I love you

    (Instrumental)

Now I can tell you this is true
A Texarkana cottage built for two
Is where all my dreams will come true
If you will just say I Do, yes I Do
    Texarkana gal I love you

Gal I would walk a thousand miles
To see your Texarkana Texas smile
Soon I’ll be heading right on back
Down that long Texarkana railroad track
    Texarkana gal I love you

    Texarkana gal I love you

It Takes A Lot Of Dough (Larry W Jones 02/04/2020) (song #7670)

Oh it takes a lot of dough
Babe for me to be your beau

I’m so in love with you babe
But my dough is runnin’ thin
I try my best but can’t save
    Flower prices rose again

Oh it takes a lot of dough
Babe for me to be your beau

    (Instrumental)

Oh babe I’m no movie star
    Don’t drive no Cadillac car
Ain’t got nothing much to show
Ain’t got much and low on dough

Clothes I’m wearin’ done wore out
No pretty sight ain’t no doubt
Oh it takes a lot of dough
Babe for me to be your beau

    (Instrumental)

I’m so in love with you babe
But my dough is runnin’ thin
Oh it takes a lot of dough
Babe for me to be your beau

Mainline Train Of Time (Larry W Jones 02/05/2020) (song #7671)

I sit alone at the depot
Watching folks who look mighty fine
I would ride but I’ve got no dough
For that mainline train of time

I don’t see in me no future
And I don’t have a will to climb
I’m sidetracked and just a loser
By that mainline train of time

Train train mainline train of time
Train train I’m way past my prime
Mainline train of time passed me by

    (Instrumental)

No more does she call me darlin’
No more songs of love with their rhymes
    I’m sidetracked from her departing
On that mainline train of time

I don’t see in me no future
And I don’t have a will to climb
I’m sidetracked and just a loser
By that mainline train of time

Train train mainline train of time
Train train I’m way past my prime
Mainline train of time passed me by

Hog Truck (Larry W Jones 02/06/2020) (song #7672)

Well, I left Houston early one mornin’
It was the end of a hot August night
That’s when I considered it just my luck
To come upon a loaded hog truck’s lights

I couldn’t pass because of construction
The air was gassed and smelled like destruction
My old air conditioner just sucked it in
The smell hit my nose and under my skin

Hog truck, hog truck, swine in the truck ahead
Smell I was smellin’, must-a been some dead
Hog truck, hog truck, nine miles ’fore I could pass
The hogs were squealin’, sick I was feelin’
Hogs in the truck ahead were passin’ gas

    (Instrumental)

The work zone ended and around I went
He honked at me as I opened the vent
On his dash, a box of baby back ribs
He was throwin’ out bones of the dead pigs

Hog truck, hog truck, swine in the truck ahead
Smell I was smellin’, must-a been some dead
Hog truck, hog truck, nine miles ’fore I could pass
The hogs were squealin’, sick I was feelin’
Hogs in the truck ahead were passin’ gas

Hog truck, hog truck, swine in the truck ahead
    Spoken:
    Hogs are swine, you know
Don’t get behind a hog truck when you can’t pass

Rose Blooming By The Sea (Larry W Jones 02/07/2020) (song #7673)

On a day long ago the sun was setting low
Her true love went to sail across the sea
The month it was June with the roses all in bloom
When he held her close and said sincerely

Dear, you’re a rose blooming in the meadow
A rose blooming in the meadow for me
Fresh as morning dew I’ll return to you
To my meadow rose blooming by the sea

    (Instrumental)

On a dreary day came a letter sad to say
That her young darling sailor was now dead
Oh, shock and surprise as tears filled her eyes
As she remembered sweet words he had said

Dear, you’re a rose blooming in the meadow
A rose blooming in the meadow for me
Fresh as morning dew I’ll return to you
To my meadow rose blooming by the sea

    (Instrumental)

He’s now a memory for he drowned in the sea
Her young sailor was lost within the spray
The month when it’s June with the roses all in bloom
She still can hear words her sailor did say

Dear, you’re a rose blooming in the meadow
A rose blooming in the meadow for me
Fresh as morning dew I’ll return to you
To my meadow rose blooming by the sea

End Of A Long Sidetrack Line (Larry W Jones 02/08/2020) (song #7674)

False love you have been my own rose
You must have thought I had been blind
Lies are clear on you as your nose
It’s end of a long sidetrack line

You thought I’d have a broken heart
When you walked out with me behind
You filled your cart but you weren’t smart
It’s end of a long sidetrack line

End of a long sidetrack line

    (Instrumental)

You thought I’d have a broken heart
When you walk out with me behind
You filled your cart but you weren’t smart
It’s end of a long sidetrack line

You know I paid full fare for you
I dressed you up in clothes so fine
Your main line train is overdue
It’s end of a long sidetrack line

End of a long sidetrack line

Bring Me A Personal Memory (Larry W Jones 02/09/2020) (song #7675)

Meet me face to face love and tell me
Why you left me alone standing there
    Bring me a personal memory
Not in a day dream that I can’t bear

Your love for me was warm as sunshine
So why is it now that you don’t care
    Bring me a personal memory
Face to face dear is only fair

    (Instrumental)

I have lost my world of happiness
One that was so sweet and oh so rare
    Bring me a personal memory
Not one that comes in from everywhere

Meet me face to face love and tell me
Why you left me alone standing there
    Bring me a personal memory
Not in a day dream that I can’t bear

    Bring me a personal memory
Face to face dear is only fair

Lanky Cowpokes (Larry W Jones 02/11/2020) (song #7676)

He sat down at a table that was empty
And looked like he didn’t have a lot to say
Said to the waitress with the name tag Betty
I think I’ll just have the special for today

Betty looked him over from boots to Stetson
And noticed that his face was shaded quite brown
A real cowboy, not like some city Texans
Cause Betty had seen them all a-comin’ round

    She said howdy lanky cowpoke
Are your cows out in the scrub oaks
You sure look bent but you ain’t broke
Where’s your big spread lanky cowpoke

How the way the world goes round we’ll never know
They wed in the Spring with Betty much adorned
Less than one year later at a Winter snow
A brand new little lanky cowpoke had been born

Betty kept him warm wrapped in a blue blanket
She knew he would be a cowboy one fine day
Of all life’s joys, for this one she was thankful
And they would raise him to know a cowboy’s way

    She said howdy lanky cowpoke
You’ll have cows out in the scrub oaks
You’re young but you’ll be a cow folk
On our big spread lanky cowpoke

Well, the years went by and the work got harder
Her two lanky cowboys were bacon earners
Their faces aged and wrinkles were in order
But Betty’s face was still one of a charmer

Then one day Betty knew her life was ending
They both gathered round her lying on her bed
And as over her both of them were bending
She looked into their eyes and then gently said

    Well now, howdy lanky cowpokes
Brand the cows out in the scrub oaks
You both look bent but you ain’t broke
    Adios you lanky cowpokes

I love both you lanky cowpokes

Everything New Nothing Old (Larry W Jones 02/12/2020) (song #7677)

    Everything new nothing old
Every day with you is like fine gold
    Nothing old everything new
Every day I’m more in love with you

Nothing gets old when you smile
Walk a new mile on country a road
To be with you for awhile
Everything new nothing old I know

    (Instrumental)

    Everything new nothing old
And nothing can ever make me blue
    Nothing old everything new
And no lonely hours cause I’m with you

    Everything new nothing old
Every day with you is like fine gold
    Nothing old everything new
Every day I’m more in love with you

    Everything new nothing old
Every day I’m more in love with you

Big Bone Jones (Larry W Jones 02/13/2020) (song #7678)

Watch the swing of my nine pound hammer
And watch the lean muscles in my side
Hear the steel spike drive down with clamor
I’ll keep drivin’ spikes until I die

    Well now sweet Daisy Mae
I build the right of way
    Hey hey sweet Daisy Mae
Trains will roll night and day

I’m the best on a nine pound hammer
Nine pound hammer and a big bone frame
Two dollars a day got no glamour
Big Bone Jones is my name and my game

    Well now sweet Daisy Mae
I build the right of way
    Hey hey sweet Daisy Mae
Trains will roll night and day

Worked all my life in the hot hot sun
With sweet Daisy Mae I love to be
She calls me big bone Jones and her hun
This hammer will be the death of me

    Well now sweet Daisy Mae
I build the right of way
    Hey hey sweet Daisy Mae
Trains will roll night and day

Big Bone Jones is my name and my game
Nine pound hammer and a big bone frame
    Big bone Jones
    Big bone Jones

Sweet Tea Of Tennessee (Larry W Jones 02/14/2020) (song #7679)

There’s a tea room in a town in old Tennessee
The waitress is a lady fair as fair can be
Now, love is a story older than you and me
But my new love is now the Tea of Tennessee

I can’t forget the time I visited that room
She looked so fine just like a blossom in full bloom
I took a look at her and she looked back at me
She read me like a book, sweet Tea of Tennessee

    (Instrumental)

I can’t forget the time I visited that room
She looked so fine just like a blossom in full bloom
I took a look at her and she looked back at me
She read me like a book, sweet Tea of Tennessee

Now she owns that little tea room in Tennessee
We have a little one who looks like her and me
The true love we three have will last eternally
It all started with my sweet Tea of Tennessee

    Why I Smile (Larry W Jones 02/15/2020) (song #7680)

Why is there a smile on my face all the time
And why is it that I’m never blue
Memories we share are read like verse and rhyme
Why I smile is all because of you

I know the world’s made of more than you and me
But our world dear each day is brand new
Nothing needs to change so we’ll just let it be
Why I smile is all because of you

    (Instrumental)

You know I’ll always hold you close to my heart
Like a rose refreshed by morning dew
And I must say dear as I did at the start
Why I smile is all because of you

I know the world’s made of more than you and me
But our world dear each day is brand new
Nothing needs to change so we’ll just let it be
Why I smile is all because of you

Nothing needs to change so we’ll just let it be
Why I smile is all because of you

Mississippi Miss I Miss You (Larry W Jones 02/15/2020) (song #7681)

Well, I left her down in the south
Now I miss the smile on her mouth
    Mississippi miss I miss you

Sometimes at night I hear her call
Now I say to her and you all
    Mississippi miss I miss you

A small hideaway built for two
On a bay where dreams do come true
Finished in a fine southern style
Would sure make that southern miss smile

    (Instrumental)

Well, I would walk a hundred miles
Though it might be through strife and trials
    Mississippi miss I miss you

Now let me tell you what I plan
I’m headin’ back to southern land
    Mississippi miss I miss you

She’ll make up her mind some fine day
Stars will be aligned all the way
And then miss my Mississippi miss
Will know that I will never stray

    Mississippi miss I miss you
    Mississippi miss I miss you

Song Of The Cowboy Range (Larry W Jones 02/16/2020) (song #7682)

I was born a wrangler to a song of the cowboy range
A cheerful pistol packer who cannot be rearranged
I sing at the start of day and all the way to sundown
The world around me is fancy free and far out of town
The soaring hawks look down and gawks at the sounds that seem strange
They follow the bravado of song of the cowboy range

Song of the cowboy range (song of the cowboy range)
Song of the cowboy range (song of the cowboy range)
Hill and prairie is filled with cheery song and rhyme
The song of the cowboy range won’t change for all time

    (Instrumental)

Now, any time a barn dance is held in a nearby town
I find me a new water hole if any can be found
I’ll be scouring maybe showering in a waterfall
For sweet Maybelline in Abilene at the barn dance ball
A cowboy yelled that it would be held at the local grange
Now, come on boys there’s joys in a song of the cowboy range

Song of the cowboy range (song of the cowboy range)
Song of the cowboy range (song of the cowboy range)
Hill and prairie is filled with cheery song and rhyme
The song of the cowboy range won’t change for all time

    (Instrumental)

I asked wily coyote how it felt to catch a chick
He said he felt like Don Quixote but you must be quick
Start on the first dance and don’t give nobody else a chance
Dance with Maybelline in Abilene and you’ll own the ranch
Wily coyote advised me in a wise interchange
Don’t wait long can’t go wrong with a song of the cowboy range

Song of the cowboy range (song of the cowboy range)
Song of the cowboy range (song of the cowboy range)
Hill and prairie is filled with cheery song and rhyme
The song of the cowboy range won’t change for all time

Moon Of The Silver Sage (Larry W Jones 02/16/2020) (song #7683)

    Moon of the silver sage
    Shine down your soft moonlight
    Moon of the silver sage
    Light up the range tonight

    While the cows are lowing
Be with them till the dawn
    By the stream that’s flowing
    To water they’ll be drawn

    Moon of the silver sage
    Shine down your soft moonlight

    (Instrumental)

    While the cows are lowing
Be with them till the dawn
    By the stream that’s flowing
    To water they’ll be drawn

    Pale moon up in heaven
    Light of the western stage
    Thank you for your blessing
    Moon of the silver sage

    Moon of the silver sage
    Shine down your soft moonlight

River Of Memories (Larry W Jones 02/18/2020) (song #7684)

    (Memories, memories, memories)

The banks of a river can be brimming full
Or waters can be low and shallow (shallow)
Love is like that river when hearts feel its pull
And memories are sure to follow (follow)

    (Memories, memories, memories)
Lovers all have heard the call of the river (heard the call)
And that includes you and surely me (you and me)
Where are we on the river of memories (memories)

    (Instrumental)

    (Memories, memories, memories)
Lovers all have heard the call of the river (heard the call)
And that includes you and surely me (you and me)
Where are we on the river of memories (memories)

    (Memories, memories, memories)
We left safety of the shore for the river (for the river)
Our love drifted out to open sea (open sea)
We’re now lost on the river of memories

    (Memories, memories, memories)
We’re now lost on the river of memories

Halfway To Wyoming (Larry W Jones 02/19/2020) (song #7685)

    There’s a million stars a-gleamin’
And they start my mind a-dreamin’
Of things my heart’s been yearnin’ of
    I’m now halfway to Wyomin’
    Travelled halfway to Wyomin’
Yeah, halfway to the girl I love

I’ve got a long way to ramble
    Drivin’ cattle through the bramble
    Gotta scramble ‘fore evening gloam
    I’m now halfway to Wyomin’
    Halfway Texas to Wyomin’
    Halfway to my Wyomin’ home

    (Instrumental)

I’m ridin’ a fresh new stallion
And my hat’s a new ten gallon
Drivin’ cows over hill and dale
Got somethin’ special in my bag
A ring on which I know she’ll brag
    Halfway up the Wyomin’ trail

I’ve got a long way to ramble
    Drivin’ cattle through the bramble
    Gotta scramble ‘fore evening gloam
    I’m now halfway to Wyomin’
    Halfway Texas to Wyomin’
    Halfway to my Wyomin’ home

    I’m now halfway to Wyomin’
    Travelled halfway to Wyomin’
Yeah, halfway to the girl I love

Sundial In The Dark (Larry W Jones 02/19/2020) (song #7686)

I didn’t mean to pain you
Sometimes words are crude and sharp
You say now you’ll remain blue
Like a sundial in the dark

    I didn’t know your heartbreak
Would be like a latent spark
Cold as the night you now shake
Like a sundial in the dark

    (Instrumental)

    There’s a door every morning
That you pass through until noon
And then like there’s no warning
You’re a sundial of the moon

I hope someday you learn to
Become strong and find your mark
Then sadness you won’t turn to
Like a sundial in the dark

    (Instrumental)

    I didn’t know your heartbreak
Would be like a latent spark
Cold as the night you now shake
Like a sundial in the dark

Some new day you’ll find a way
To move the gray and the gloom
Then the sun will shine its rays
    On sundials where roses bloom

Then love won’t be a question mark
Like a sundial in the dark
Like a sundial in the dark

Gold In El Dorado (Larry W Jones 02/20/2020) (song #7687)

Tales of fine gold in El Dorado
    Was just in conquistadores minds
Don’t go searching for El Dorado
Cause there’s no gold you will ever find

True love is just like El Dorado
All good men have searched but most were blind
The search turned some to desperados
And to that fate I know I’ve been confined

    (Instrumental)

Tales of fine gold in El Dorado
    Was just in conquistadores minds
Don’t go searching for El Dorado
Cause there’s no gold you will ever find

I searched for love like El Dorado
From the west coast to the shores of Maine
I searched for love like El Dorado
But every road had no love to gain

    (Instrumental)

Tales of fine gold in El Dorado
    Was just in conquistadores minds
Don’t go searching for El Dorado
Cause there’s no gold you will ever find

True love is just like El Dorado
All good men have searched but most were blind
The search turned some to desperados
And to that fate I know I’ve been confined

Young Johnny Ringo (Larry W Jones 02/21/2020) (song #7688)

Hide out, hide out Johnny Ringo
And don’t you try and sleep too sound
Sherriff of Cochise comin’ for you
Ain’t gonna know when he’s around

Dig a hole, dig a hole in Arizona
Dig a hole in the west Turkey Creek cold ground
Dig a hole, dig a hole for him tomorrow
Cause they’re gonna lay young Johnny Ringo down

First time I saw Johnny Ringo
He was walking in the saloon
    Cowboys knew that outlaw gringo
And they all moved to give him room

Dig a hole, dig a hole in Arizona
Dig a hole in the west Turkey Creek cold ground
Dig a hole, dig a hole for him tomorrow
Cause they’re gonna lay young Johnny Ringo down

Next time I saw Johnny Ringo
Was in the Mason County war
    Notched 44 fed his ego
And that gun would have many more

Dig a hole, dig a hole in Arizona
Dig a hole in the west Turkey Creek cold ground
Dig a hole, dig a hole for him tomorrow
Cause they’re gonna lay young Johnny Ringo down

Last time I saw Johnny Ringo
He had a new hole in his head
Next to a tree lay young Johnny
Johnny Ringo was laid down dead

Dig a hole, dig a hole in Arizona
Dig a hole in the west Turkey Creek cold ground
Dig a hole, dig a hole for him tomorrow
Cause they’re gonna lay young Johnny Ringo down

Onetime Darling Of Mine (Larry W Jones 02/23/2020) (song #7689)

I returned to the neighborhood of my hometown
I was done with my roaming and now looking round
For that onetime darling I hoped that I could find
Pretty girl so sweet, that onetime darling of mine

I know I roamed so long that I felt like exiled
I just followed my heart but it was young and wild
Oh, I thought of her and I missed her all the time
Wondered if she missed me, onetime darling of mine

    (Instrumental)

Far and wide I roamed and I longed
Hoping that true love I could find
No one I found in towns I comed
Like that onetime darling of mine

I heard the old chapel bells toll as I passed by
Out strolled a handsome smiling groom and his new bride
My old dreams died at the sight of their arms entwined
Oh, too late I found that onetime darling of mine

Brandywine Valley (Larry W Jones 02/23/2020) (song #7690)

I’m trav’lin down that road to Brandywine Valley
I heard that’s where broken hearts must go
They say hearts can unload in Brandywine Valley
Where gentle streams and soft breezes flow

No tears will fall down there in Brandywine Valley
Worry and bother are left behind
Once upon a time’s not in Brandywine Valley
That kind of story you’ll never find

    (Instrumental)

I’m trav’lin down that road to Brandywine Valley
It’s down there where I can dry my tears
My poor heart can unload in Brandywine Valley
While my lost dream of love disappears

Anyone can travel down to Brandywine Valley
To unravel love that’s gone astray
Peacefulness is waiting in Brandywine Valley
Broken hearts will find a place to stay

I’m trav’lin down that road to Brandywine Valley
    Gone to Brandywine Valley today

She Rose Above Her Raising (Larry W Jones 02/24/2020) (song #7691)

Well, I had a gal in Tennessee
But now she calls me her used to be
    We never got wedded
She’s up and gone from me

    She rose above her raisin’
Didn’t stay down here with me
    Feline to female bobcat
Forgot who she used to be

Yeah, now she thinks she’s somethin’
But that means nothin’ to me
    She rose above her raisin’
    Way down here in Tennessee

    (Instrumental)

Now she holds her nose up to the sky
She won’t have to see me eye to eye
I don’t see what she sees
    Bout leavin’ Tennessee

    She rose above her raisin’
Didn’t stay down here with me
From poor house to a clubhouse
Forgot who she used to be

Used to be a country gal
    Way down here in Tennessee
    She rose above her raisin’
Now, just where on earth is she

    (Instrumental)

Well, I had a gal in Tennessee
But now she calls me her used to be
    We never got wedded
She’s up and gone from me

    She rose above her raisin’
Didn’t stay down here with me

This Ordinary Simple Man (Larry W Jones 02/25/2020) (song #7692)

Maybe I could have been more than this ordinary simple man
But my darling I’ve worked hard just to make you understand
That these calloused hands have done extraordinary things for my plan
To ask for your hand by this ordinary simple man

I ask of you with ordinary simple words
For I never knew how to speak with fancy lines
My simple home is not one built as house of lords
Please dear, accept this ordinary simple man

    (Instrumental)

I don’t have any gold but true and simple love I can afford
Each day with you will show that I will love you more and more
And you will know this is true from the day my love for you began
So I beg dear, accept this ordinary simple man

I ask of you with ordinary simple words
For I never knew how to speak with fancy lines
My simple home is not one built as house of lords
Please dear, accept this ordinary simple man

    Accept this ordinary simple man

Born By The Back Bayou (Larry W Jones 02/26/2020) (song #7693)

Well, when I was a little Cajun boy
    Ridin’ on my Daddy’s knee
Daddy said, Jean my Louisiana joy
You’ll be a Cajun like me

And I recall the wooden pirogue trawl
    Fishin’ in the back bayou
    Alligator eyes and lightnin’ fireflies
Tryin’ get a bite of you

    Born by the back bayou
    Born by the back bayou
Born by the back bayou in Louisian’

    (Instrumental)

I wish I was back on the back bayou
    Married to a Cajun queen
I’m gonna take a train to New Orleans
    Gotta make that Cajun scene

    Born by the back bayou
    Born by the back bayou
Born by the back bayou in Louisian’

    (Instrumental)

And I recall the wooden pirogue trawl
    Fishin’ in the back bayou
    Alligator eyes and lightnin’ fireflies
Tryin’ get a bite of you

    Born by the back bayou
    Born by the back bayou
Born by the back bayou in Louisian’

You Sing A Song And I’ll Sing Along (Larry W Jones 02/27/2020) (song #7694)

You sing a song and I’ll sing along
We’ll be birds of a feather
You sing a song and I’ll sing along
    No matter what the weather

Now, you sing tenor and I’ll sing bass
We’ll sing out any old place
Oh, you sing tenor and I’ll sing bass
I’ll sing along at your pace

    (Instrumental)

You sing a strain and I’ll sing refrain
Like trains rolling down the track
You sing a strain and I’ll sing refrain
You and I have got the knack

You sing a song and I’ll sing along
We’ll be birds of a feather
You sing a song and I’ll sing along
    No matter what the weather

You sing a song and I’ll sing along
Long as you and I are together

Piney Woods Shade (Larry W Jones 02/28/2020) (song #7695)

    I’m a rover who’s been over
    Just about everywhere it seems
I have travelled and I’ve dabbled
    Trying to unravel my dreams

Some of a man’s dreams should come true
For all the big plans that he’s made
But now I know where they all grew
Back home in the piney woods shade

    (Instrumental)

Down to east Texas I must roam
And return to the piney woods shade
In the piney woods is my home
Where the dreams I left never fade

When I return as a poor man
I’ll feel like a king on parade
Among the trees where I began
Living in the piney woods shade

    (Instrumental)

My young life was like a song there
Now I know just where I belong
Tall are the trees and sweet the air
In the shade of piney woods home

When I return as a poor man
I’ll feel like a king on parade
Among the trees where I began
Living in the piney woods shade

What’s Wrong With Your Brain Jane (Larry W Jones 03/01/2020) (song #7696)

What’s wrong with your brain Jane, you’ve lost your beau
You broke his love chain Jane, he loved you so
His heart is in pain Jane, now he’s alone
You caused it to rain Jane, now that he’s gone

So stay in your house Jane, that’s built of cards
Sad tears you have roused Jane, without regards
Oh, you’re now to blame Jane, reap what you sow
What’s wrong with you brain Jane, you’ll never know

    (Instrumental)

Now you’ve staked your claim Jane, not one of fame
You’re the one to blame Jane, he knows the same
Oh, he was fair game Jane, back where he’s been
What’s wrong with your brain Jane, you’ll never win

So stay in your house Jane, that’s built of cards
Sad tears you have roused Jane, without regards
Oh, you’re now to blame Jane, reap what you sow
What’s wrong with you brain Jane, you’ll never know

What’s wrong with your brain Jane, I loved you so

Written On The Back Page Of Life (Larry W Jones 02/03/2020) (song #7697)

I believed that wealth could buy honor and fame
But on the back page my life was written in vain
Now out of money that I know I threw away
No days are sunny because the skies are all gray

So, here is the message for fools who need advice
Written on the back page of life
Written on the back page of life

    (Instrumental)

My only treasure was a sweet kind hearted girl
And she was a pleasure sent to brighten my world
But I was such a fool and did things that would hurt
Loss of wealth and her sweet love was my just desert

So, here is the message for fools who need advice
Written on the back page of life
Written on the back page of life

    (Instrumental)

Now I do regret that I have debts due to pay
My wealth and honor are traits that I threw away
Yes, I was such a fool and did things that would hurt
Loss of wealth and her sweet love was my just desert

So, here is the message for fools who need advice
Written on the back page of life
Written on the back page of life

Whippoorwill Son (Larry W Jones 03/05/2020) (song #7698)

Well, I just heard a whippoorwill call from the hill
It sounded just like his sad song was sung for me
Maybe he made fun or thought that I was his son
No wonder, I’m sad as a whippoorwill could be

No, I never thought whippoorwills called so early
The golden sun hasn’t crawled up to bring the dawn
And he can’t even see that my eyes are blurry
But I’m just as sad as if a whippoorwill son

    (Instrumental)

Father whippoorwill what sad song will you now do
We two are so sad that we are birds of one kind
A whippoorwill son, that’s what I am it is true
Cause this whippoorwill son will never make her mine

No, I never thought whippoorwills called so early
The golden sun hasn’t crawled up to bring the dawn
And he can’t even see that my eyes are blurry
But I’m just as sad as if a whippoorwill son

A whippoorwill son, that’s what I am it is true
Cause this whippoorwill son will never make her mine

Broken Dream Of Harmony (Larry W Jones 03/11/2020) (song #7699)

Broken dream of harmony that I thought was her and me
Now I’m caught in misery that will never let me be
Oh, broken dream of harmony what was I thinking of
This old sinking feeling is not in harmony with love

Broken dream of harmony that I thought was her and me
All it brought was agony of love that was not to be
Oh, broken dream of harmony to what place were you bound
There is no harmony where my poor heart can now be found

    (Instrumental)

Broken dream of harmony that I thought was her and me
She is now a memory that only in dreams I see
Oh, broken dream of harmony is there a hope for me
For I cannot cope with a broken dream of harmony

Broken dream of harmony that I thought was her and me
Now I’m caught in misery that will never let me be
Oh, broken dream of harmony what was I thinking of
This old sinking feeling is not in harmony with love

A Rose And An Almond Joy (Larry W Jones 03/13/2020) (song #7700)

Bop ba doo bop ba doo bop ba doo bop ba

We had a squabble a schoolkid squabble
I made her as blue as a girl can be
And the phone she hung up when I rung up
Now I’m as blue as a school boy can be

So I’m going to give her a real treat
Things I know she won’t destroy
One has petals and one is very sweet
A rose and an Almond Joy

    (Instrumental)

Bop ba doo bop ba doo bop ba doo bop ba

I made her as blue as a girl can be
So I have got to time this thing just right
Here’s how I plan to bring her back to me
A small present that’s pleasant in her sight

Yes I’m going to give her a real treat
Things I know she won’t destroy
One has petals and one is very sweet
A rose and an Almond Joy

One has petals and one is very sweet
A rose and an Almond Joy

What Might Have Been (Larry W Jones 03/25/2020) (song #7701)

Today at lunch he mentioned a familiar name
Of a different girl but it set my mind aflame
I felt as though he could read the thoughts of my mind
For my heart and my lost dreams are so intertwined

I wonder just what you became
There’s no need to establish blame
I ponder how it was back then
We’ll never know what might have been

    (Instrumental)

You were so courageous and never very shy
Not thinking I said things outrageous on the fly
We both laughed together and sometimes we would cry
And I still wonder why we ever said goodbye

I wonder just what you became
There’s no need to establish blame
I ponder how it was back then
We’ll never know what might have been

    (Instrumental)

Oh, there have been times when I tried my best to call
When I picked up the phone to dial my hand would stall
If you answered I would not have known what to say
I guess it’s been the best to keep things as they lay

I wonder just what you became
There’s no need to establish blame
I ponder how it was back then
We’ll never know what might have been

We’ll never know what might have been

Heartbreak Road (Larry W Jones 04/15/2020) (song #7702)

A trucker returned to his old home town
To find his darling from long times ago
But when he got there his face wore a frown
That showed the look of a heartbreak shadow

Truck driver rollin’ with no consolin’
Now payin’ for his absence out of view
Wedding bells ringin’ with joyous singin’
And somebody’s darlin’ sayin’ I do

    (Instrumental)

A lover’s sweet song should never sound wrong
Even a trucker needs a warm abode
Well mister you never even kissed her
I say to myself drivin’ heartbreak road

A lover’s sweet song should never sound wrong
Even a trucker needs a warm abode
Well mister you never even kissed her
I say to myself drivin’ heartbreak road

That’s what I say while drivin’ heartbreak road

    She’s Tickled Pink Because I’m Blue (Larry W Jones 04/18/2020) (song #7703)

Well, leaving her I thought was so clever
But my new love was a lost endeavor
My old love’s tickled pink because I’m blue

I have to admit the tables have turned
I’m at my wits end and my heart is burned
My old love’s tickled pink because I’m blue

I feel like last year’s modern Romeo
Now I’m down to cheap beers and dominoes
And she’s just tickled pink because I’m blue

    (Instrumental)

I feel like last year’s modern Romeo
Now I’m down to cheap beers and dominoes
And she’s just tickled pink because I’m blue

Oh, she doesn’t know the trouble I feel
She speaks only of how I double deal
And she’s just tickled pink because I’m blue

Oh, she’s just tickled pink because I’m blue

On Blueberry Hill (Larry W Jones 04/19/2020) (song #7704)

You found my grill on Blueberry Hill
On Blueberry Hill you made me blue

You ate your fill on Blueberry Hill
And lingered until upchucked you threw

Your wind like a billow made
    No sweet melody
And all of that meat you ate
    Was a felony

Was it a fart that gave me a chill
You found my grill on Blueberry Hill

Your wind like a billow made
    No sweet melody
And all of that meat you ate
    Was a felony

Was it a fart that gave me a chill
You found my grill on Blueberry Hill

Now And Forevermore (Larry W Jones 04/28/2020) (song #7705)

Moonbeams softly stream through the window
Like a halo gleaming on your hair
I see you smile upon your pillow
And no other face could look so fair

You satisfy my heart each morning
Our love is precious like golden ore
Your night dream sweetheart is adorning
Like love songs now and forevermore

    (Instrumental)

Sweetheart when we’re apart I miss you
I think of you wherever I go
And my darling I must say this too
I’ll love you as long as breezes blow

There aren’t many rules we must follow
True love doesn’t need to keep a score
    We won’t stumble any tomorrow
If love leads now and forevermore

    We won’t stumble any tomorrow
If love leads now and forevermore

North Of The Border (Larry W Jones 05/14/2020) (song #7706)

Why why why why do cowboys cry

North of the border, up Abilene way
    That’s where this cowboy rode
To a railroad to draw my pay
    On long trails I wandered
    A love came my way
North of the border, up Abilene way

I met a cowgirl in old Abilene
    Sweet was her gentle smile
I stayed awhile to view the scene
Her name was Vanessa and asked me to stay
North of the border, up Abilene way

Close to my ear she whispered tomorrow
Cowboy please come and hear my love song
But she cried as I told her in sorrow
Down a trail I must ride alone

North of the border, I returned in May
    There in the pale moonlight
Her eyes were bright as I heard her say
To a new cowboy I’ll love you always
North of the border, up Abilene way

Why why why why do cowboys cry
Why why why why I said goodbye

North Of The Border Up Canada Way (Larry W Jones 05/20/2020) (song #7707)

Eh eh eh eh, eh eh eh eh

North of the border up Canada way
That’s where Hank Snow came to show cowboys how to sing and play
And now it’s no wonder why Canadians say
The Blue Ranger can stay up Canada way

Her Yellow Roses and Chantilly Lace
Are songs Hank composes while there’s a smile upon his face
On each Victoria he tuned up to play
I’ll be Movin’ On up Canada way

    (Instrumental)

Hank sang The Name Of The Game is le demain
She never dreamed Hank was parting
Hank sang of tomorrow in sweet refrain
But that le demain never came

North of the border Hank rode back one day
I’ve Been Everywhere was his song but at home he could not stay
The chapel bells told him that his heart must pay
North of the border up Canada way

Eh eh eh eh, eh eh eh eh
Eh eh eh eh, eh eh eh eh

I’ll Wait Patiently For You (Larry W Jones 10/03/2020) (song #7708)

Seasons have rolled by love while I’m here alone
Things are not the kind of plans I condone
Lonely are rooms where memories now dwell
Are you happy dear since you said farewell

Days are now low with sorrow
Nights are slow and filled with tears
    I wish for bright tomorrows
As I have through lonely years

    (Instrumental)

Darling won’t you try and reconsider
And plant a new hope within my poor heart
For my wish to live will have no flicker
Should we remain so very far apart

    When you receive this letter
I hope you feel like I do
For in all kinds of weather
    I’ll wait patiently for you

Yes in all kinds of weather
    I’ll wait patiently for you

This Fair Lady Of Mine (Larry W Jones 10/03/2020) (song #7709)

    She opens the pantry
As the dawn of day starts to shine
    Her coffee smells dandy
She’s not very hard to define
Her kiss is like sweetest candy
    This fair lady of mine

    She awakens my world
Like a young gypsy when dancing
Her hair hangs down in curls
    Dixie girl made for romancing
And at night the stars align with
    This fair lady of mine

    (Instrumental)

I have all I could own
And there’s nothing more I’m needing
For her love fills our home
Like a book written for dreaming
    I love every line esteeming
    This fair lady of mine

I have all I could own
And there’s nothing more I’m needing
For her love fills our home
Like a book written for dreaming
    I love every line esteeming
    This fair lady of mine

    This fair lady of mine

All Of My Sad Times Are Gone (Larry W Jones 10/04/2020) (song #7710)

All of those sad times in old country songs
When love crossed the lines between right and wrong
Are now in the past because love is strong
I’m so glad all of my sad times are gone

Laughter together’s now easy and free
The good life is now just for you and me
It’s not like the times in old country songs
I’m so glad all of my sad times are gone

    (Instrumental)

Laughter together’s now easy and free
The good life is now just for you and me
It’s not like the times in old country songs
I’m so glad all of my sad times are gone

It’s not like the times in old country songs
I’m so glad all of my sad times are gone
I’m so glad all of my sad times are gone
All of my sad times are gone

Fence Wire Lullaby (Larry W Jones 10/05/2020) (song #7711)

Well, I rode the fence line all day til the shadows got real long
I tied old Dan under some trees with his saddle laid nearby
By the campfire light I spent the night while the breeze sang a song
Of the call of the whippoorwill and the fence wire lullaby

I listened to the rusted wire as it sang of times long gone
Tales of buffalo when Indian bows made the arrows fly
And cowboys like me rode night herd til the early morning dawn
With the call of the whippoorwill and the fence wire lullaby

    (Instrumental)

The fence wire lullaby was as soothing as a balladeer
Across the prairie a tune was played that reached into the sky
And as I drifted off in my dreams I still could softly hear
The low call of the whippoorwill and the fence wire lullaby

And as I drifted off in my dreams I still could softly hear
The low call of the whippoorwill and the fence wire lullaby
    The fence wire lullaby
    The fence wire lullaby

To A Sunny Day (Larry W Jones 10/07/2020) (song #7712)

Our future is sunny now no clouds about
There’s nothing that shrouds a new born day
We have emerged from the last stages of doubt
Love will now lead us (love will now lead us) on our way
Love will now lead us (love will now lead us) on our way
To a sunny day (right away) to a sunny day
    To a sunny day

My dear we can make it now the line is drawn
It’s a new start as we’re heard men say
I see a rainbow on this marvelous dawn
Love will now lead us (love will now lead us) on our way
Love will now lead us (love will now lead us) on our way
To a sunny day (right away) to a sunny day
    To a sunny day

    (Instrumental)

Don’t look behind for that’s not the way
See the future with no clouds of grey

Our future is sunny now no clouds about
There’s nothing that shrouds a new born day
We have emerged from the last stages of doubt
Love will now lead us (love will now lead us) on our way
Love will now lead us (love will now lead us) on our way
To a sunny day (right away) to a sunny day
    To a sunny day

Lone Star Girl Of Texas (Larry W Jones 10/08/2020) (song #7713)

All the stars over Texas were losing their glow
As she drove from Houston and our last rodeo
In her rear view mirror she still could see me there
Nothing could be clearer than truth that’s hard to bare

Doom can guide you when a star your heart is tied to
Like back when that girl gave my world a five point spin
The lone star girl of Texas gave my heart a whirl
The lone star girl of Texas is gone from my world

    (Instrumental)

Now in some Texas town she’ll guide another heart
He’ll be tied to a star that will break his heart apart
All the stars over Texas are losing their glow
As she drives from Dallas and their last rodeo

Doom can guide you when a star your heart is tied to
Like back when that girl gave my world a five point spin
The lone star girl of Texas gave my heart a whirl
The lone star girl of Texas is gone from my world

The lone star girl of Texas is gone from my world

In Came A Lot Of Joy Today (Larry W Jones 10/08/2020) (song #7714)

I never thought it would turn out this way
In came a lot of joy today
She appeared and then true love came my way
In came a lot of joy today

Sometimes a change in life is hard to bear
But at times love will find a way
She appeared and then I could tell she cared
In came a lot of joy today

    (Instrumental)

I never thought it would turn out this way
In came a lot of joy today
She appeared and then true love came my way
In came a lot of joy today

She appeared and then true love came my way
In came a lot of joy today
She appeared and then true love came my way
In came a lot of joy today

In came a lot of joy today

Blue Bay For A Blue Lonely Heart (Larry W Jones 10/09/2020) (song #7715)

One night he saw with his eyes full open
So much more than he had seen at the start
As in his time of need he was searching
For a blue bay for a blue lonely heart

Too many years and too many oceans
Too many harbors waiting to depart
Leagues of loneliness and lighthouse searching
For a blue bay for a blue lonely heart

    (Instrumental)

    Calling out for the heavens
To hear the cries of his soul
    Across the waves it beckons
For a blue bay o’er the shoal

Pale moonlight reflects off darkened waters
Like a pathway on a nautical chart
Drawn to a harbor of love he’s hoping
For a blue bay for a blue lonely heart

Drawn to a harbor of love he’s hoping
For a blue bay for a blue lonely heart

Best Of Future Plans (Larry W Jones 10/10/2020) (song #7716)

Well, I had the best of future plans
That was back when I was in my natural prime
Said I would do it with these two hands
Yeah, I had the best of future plans back in time

Well, I never finished your castle
I guess there were too many hills we had to climb
You’re the queen of a lowly vassal
Oh, I had the best of future plans back in time

Now, some folks say that I’m a quitter
And at times I wonder if they just may be right
But you say you don’t need the glitter
And I still feel like a man when you hold me tight

You tell me often to remember
That not all songs of dreams have to end with a rhyme
Our love is more than just an ember
Yeah, I had the best of future plans back in time

I know that you deserve much better
And so my dear I’m trying to save every dime
For your true love I’ll be a debtor
Yeah, I had the best of future plans back in time

You tell me often to remember
That not all songs of dreams have to end with a rhyme
Our love is more than just an ember
Yeah, I had the best of future plans back in time

What Will Befall This Kind Of Cowboy (Larry W Jones 10/17/2020) (song #7717)

On the day he was born there was thunder
A young cowpoke who would never know joy
As he grew up he couldn’t but wonder
Oh, what will befall this kind of cowboy

He rode the night-herd and wished for the day
On his own ranch wranglers he would employ
Such was not to be for he was a stray
Oh, what will befall this kind of cowboy

Oh, what will befall this kind of cowboy

    (Instrumental)

Most of his trails led him only to jails
With outlaws and rustlers, evil decoys
And he wrote on the walls of his travails
Boys, here’s what befalls this kind of cowboy

He rode the night-herd and wished for the day
On his own ranch wranglers he would employ
Such was not to be for he was a stray
Oh, what will befall this kind of cowboy

Oh, what will befall this kind of cowboy

Horses And Saddles And Montana Skies (Larry W Jones 10/27/2020) (song #7718)

Horses and saddles and Montana skies
Mama and Papa and old fam’ly ties
Headin’ there to where the blue skies are fair
Horses and saddles and Montana skies

Down the trail across the stream
Where the big bald eagles fly
Nature puts on quite a scene
There I’ll stay until I die

    (Instrumental)

Wrinkles and rockin’ chairs and twinkling eyes
Mama and Papa and old songs reprise
Headin’ there to where the blue skies are fair
Horses and saddles and Montana skies

    Stayin’ away was so wrong
Headin’ home been gone too long
This big town ain’t my demise
    Montan’ I’ll never despise

Horses and saddles and Montana skies
Horses and saddles and Montana skies

Thirty Miles From Decatur (Larry W Jones 10/28/2020) (song #7719)

We were thirty miles from Decatur now listen to my tale
The storm it was a downpour on the old Chisholm cattle trail
Thirty miles from Decatur gettin’ low on whiskey and beans
Boys I think we’ll get no drink until we reach old Abilene

Now, our trail boss he rode at the front tough as buffalo hide
The stream it was so wide he couldn’t see to the other side
Thirty miles from Decatur we couldn’t cross the flooded stream
Boys I think we’ll get no drink until we reach old Abilene

    (Instrumental)

Now, our cookie was a good old pal although he had no charm
We sent him up a tall pine tree for to sound the flood alarm
Thirty miles from Decatur we saw waters that we ain’t seen
Boys I think we’ll get no drink until we reach old Abilene

The trail boss he went crazy on the old Chisholm cattle trail
And I’m the only cowpoke left that’s livin’ to tell the tale
Thirty miles from Decatur the storm it was mighty and mean
Boys I think we’ll get no drink until we reach old Abilene

Oil Skin Slicker (Larry W Jones 10/28/2020) (song #7720)

If I had a cayuse with white wings
On his back and away I would fly
To Cindy I would give a gold ring
And all of my love before I die

Wrap me up in my oil skin slicker
Then play your guitar somber and slow
Gather six wranglers free from liquor
Lay me down like a cowboy laid low

Then all of you gather some big stones
Cover me from my head to my toe
Chisel on one and let it be known
Here a young cowboy lies down below

Wrap me up in my oil skin slicker
Then play your guitar somber and slow
Gather six wranglers free from liquor
Lay me down like a cowboy laid low

Then go gather six wrangler top hands
To bring her here so Cindy will know
Today you will have to make new plans
Here lies the cowboy who was your beau

Wrap me up in my oil skin slicker
Then play your guitar somber and slow
Gather six wranglers free from liquor
Lay me down like a cowboy laid low

Wrap me up in my oil skin slicker
Lay me down like a cowboy laid low

A Piggie Named Pokey (Larry W Jones 10/29/2020) (song #7721)

I’ve got a piggie named pokey
And he squeals mostly in low key
He squeals and he squeals quite slowly
You’ll love my piggie named pokey
When you gig it he gets with it
He squeals and he squeals so boldly

When you pinch his nose he goes an octave higher
Pinch his feet and it’s a treat to hear a pig choir

    (Instrumental)

Get you a piggie named pokey
One that squeals mostly in low key
He’ll squeal and he’ll squeal quite slowly
You’ll love your piggie named pokey
When you gig it he’ll get with it
He’ll squeal and he’ll squeal so boldly

I’ve got a piggie named pokey
I love his high and low key songs

Cowboy On A Gallop (Larry W Jones 10/30/2020) (song #7722)

Oh, a cowboy who’s on a gallop rides alone
All by himself is where he always will belong

Git along Buckeye, there’s a rainbow in the sky
And there’s gold in the streams far ahead
We’ll get there sometime soon in the sweet by and by
Git along Buckeye, to a new spread

Oh, a cowboy who’s on a gallop rides alone
All by himself is where he always will belong

    (Instrumental)

Oh, a cowboy who’s on a gallop rides alone
Far away from his old saddle pals
And Buckeye he’s a-ridin’ listens to his song
Bout leavin’ behind some pretty gal

Oh, a cowboy who’s on a gallop rides alone
All by himself is where he always will belong

    (Instrumental)

Git along Buckeye, there’s a rainbow in the sky
And there’s gold in the streams far ahead
We’ll get there sometime soon in the sweet by and by
Git along Buckeye, to a new spread

Oh, a cowboy who’s on a gallop rides alone
All by himself is where he always will belong

I Met Her In A Honky Tonk (Larry W Jones 10/31/2020) (song #7723)

Well sir, I met her in a honky tonk
And well, I guess I’m not the sorta guy
That you would wish to win your daughter’s eye

Well sir, I guess you think that I’m to blame
But if she had the same mind that you do
Then sir, I’d go right back to where I came

Now, I know she deserves the best of things
And there must be some better guys than me
Now sir, I didn’t come for arguing
But I do love your daughter can’t you see

    (Instrumental)

Well sir, I met her under neon lights
On the honky tonk side of bright downtown
Where nice girls like her shouldn’t go at night

Now, I know she deserves the best of things
And there must be some better guys than me
Now sir, I didn’t come for arguing
But I do love your daughter can’t you see

Well sir, I’m a part of that love sick crowd
But you should know that your pretty daughter
Is the honky tonk girl who showed me how

Sir, you should know that your pretty daughter
Is the honky tonk girl who showed me how

Blue Moon Of October (Larry W Jones 10/31/2020) (song #7724)

Blue moon of October was the reason
I was not on her list for romance true
Blue moon of October it was treason
The first full moon was gone and I was blue

Well, it was in the year twenty twenty
The world was full of things that wasn’t right
And when it came to love I hadn’t any
The Blue moon of October hid its light

Blue moon of October twenty twenty
Shone down aplenty on lost love that night

    (Instrumental)

Blue moon of October was the reason
I was not on her list for romance true
Blue moon of October it was treason
The first full moon was gone and I was blue

Well, it was in the year twenty twenty
The world was full of things that wasn’t right
And when it came to love I hadn’t any
The Blue moon of October hid its light

Blue moon of October twenty twenty
Shone down aplenty on lost love that night

Nightingale Of Yesterday (Larry W Jones 11/01/2020) (song #7725)

Good looks are like fresh cologne
Or books with no pages worn
Youth of man is so swiftly gone
It comes but once when he’s born

Love is a trove of treasure
Some search but find it never
    Memories are nightingales
    That fly through life forever

    Nightingale of yesterday
Let me dream without a care
    Carry me back far away
And leave me awhile back there

    (Instrumental)

    Nightingale of yesterday
Let me dream without a care
    Carry me back far away
And leave me awhile back there

Let me smell that fresh cologne
And read books of youth again
Let me walk slowly til grown
I’ll not be gone with the wind

    Nightingale of yesterday
Young love is a treasured song
Sing one for me on our way
    As you carry me along

Under The Aspen Snowmass Moon (Larry W Jones 11/04/2020) (song #7726)

    A snowy night
    With slopes of white
The time was right and soon
We fell in love under the Aspen Snowmass moon
    The moon was low
    Fire was aglow
    Such a delight to swoon
    Under the Aspen Snowmass moon

    (Instrumental)

    Each flick’rin flame
    Had but one aim
To make your heart and mine the same
    Under the Aspen Snowmass moon
    Here in my ear
    I’ll never hear
    Such a lovely love tune
    Such a delight to swoon
    Under the Aspen Snowmass moon

    Under the Aspen Snowmass moon

A Trail Is Gonna Lead A Cowboy (Larry W Jones 11/05/2020) (song #7727)

Oh, a trail is gonna lead ‘cross the land
    Across the land
Oh, a trail is gonna lead with a voice
A kid’s gonna need to be a cowboy
    Be a cowboy
But only now when he’s young can he dream
    Yes, he can dream
It’s only now when he’s young can he dream

Riding cattle trails in Summer is warm
Riding cattle trails in Winter means storms
A kid is only a dreamer
    By the old cattle trail
Cause the old trail is too long
And a kid is too frail

    (Instrumental)

But then the whole wide world begins to change
    The kid grows tall
And the voice he then hears is from the range
    The trail has called
The trail has called and the song that is heard
    Is like a drawl
    A cattle call

Oh, a trail is gonna lead ‘cross the land
    Across the land
Oh, a trail is gonna lead with a voice
A kid’s gonna need to be a cowboy
    Be a cowboy
But only now when he’s young can he dream
    Yes, he can dream
It’s only now when he’s young can he dream

Oh, a trail is gonna lead a cowboy

    It’s An Old Cowboy’s Dream (Larry W Jones 11/06/2020) (song #7728)

Well, if I had the wings of an eagle
I’d fly to a place way out in the west
Where the sun goes down with rays quite regal
There’s a small ranch by a stream I love best

It’s an old cowboy’s dream by an old mountain stream
That will remain deep down in my heart
Where big cattle were bred on that small distant spread
There is no chain to keep dreams apart

    (Instrumental)

On that small spread of dreams for to me it still seems
That mem’ries each day unfold at dawn
And like to a lost stray all those dreams seem to say
Cowboy, you’re sure a long way from home

It’s an old cowboy’s dream by an old mountain stream
That will remain deep down in my heart
Where big cattle were bred on that small distant spread
There is no chain to keep dreams apart

And like to a lost stray all those dreams seem to say
Cowboy, you’re sure a long way from home

    If You’re A Texan (Larry W Jones 11/07/2020) (song #7729)

If you’re a Texan walk right in the door
If your name is Bill, Cody, Colt or Pat
As long as you’re from Texas here’s the floor
Cause there’s a big ‘ol Howdy on the mat

If you come from Houston or Waco too
And you have a drawl on things to discuss
Then you must be a Texan through and through
When you speak you sound just like one of us

In big New York City town I heard say
There lived a fella known as one tough guy
He came to Texas on one sunny day
And thought he’d give the cowboy life a try

Now, he was wealthy but his name was Sue
The ranch foreman is laughing to this day
He said now sonny here’s a note for you
The big tough guy read what it had to say

If you’re a Texan walk right in the door
If your name is Bill, Cody, Colt or Pat
As long as you’re from Texas here’s the floor
Cause there’s a big ‘ol Howdy on the mat

If you come from Houston or Waco too
And you have a drawl on things to discuss
Then you must be a Texan through and through
When you speak you sound just like one of us

If you’re a Texan walk right in the door
If your name is Bill, Cody, Colt or Pat
But if you’re from New York City fella
We don’t need no Sue who’s Cinderella

If you’re a Texan walk right in the door

Across The Western Prairie (Larry W Jones 11/08/2020) (song #7730)

Ridin’ ridin’ ridin’ across the western prairie
While stars are bright at night across the western prairie
It don’t matter how far ‘long as your hoss can carry
You and your own darlin’ across the western prairie

Across the western prairie with a yippie-i-yay
Now that’s one fine way for romancin’ and makin’ hay
And you’ll see some vistas not of the ordinary
Ridin’ ridin’ ridin’ across the western prairie

    (Instrumental)

Now, I like my darlin’ fair and she don’t upset me
She took one look at me and said she can’t forget me
She had another love but someone shot ‘ol Harry
That’s why I’ve got her now ridin’ across the prairie

Across the western prairie with a yippie-i-yay
Now that’s one fine way for romancin’ and makin’ hay
And you’ll see some vistas not of the ordinary
Ridin’ ridin’ ridin’ across the western prairie

Me and Mary ridin’ across the western prairie

Out Yonder In West Texas (Larry W Jones 11/09/2020) (song #7731)

Out yonder in west Texas there’s a place I’m free
Ridin’ cattle trails with a saddle under me
Here in the east it’s busy, busy as can be
My heart is blue and my time in the east is through
Out yonder in west Texas friends are always true

Out yonder in west Texas, no bright city lights
I’ll roll out my old bedroll on a starry night
Shoot the rattlesnakes and pet the ugly horned toads
And dream of some sweet cowgirl who will be my bride
Out yonder in west Texas is where I’ll soon ride

    (Instrumental)

Out yonder in west Texas there’s a place I’m free
Ridin’ cattle trails with a saddle under me
Here in the east it’s busy, busy as can be
My heart is blue and my time in the east is through
Out yonder in west Texas friends are always true

Out yonder in west Texas, roundups in the Spring
Songs of little dogies I’ll hear the cowboys sing
Soon as I can change I’ll ride out across the range
The moon will glow at night, by day the sun will shine
Out yonder in west Texas I’ll leave blues behind

Number Ninety Nine On The Top Forty Chart (Larry W Jones 11/09/2020) (song #7732)

I’m number ninety nine on the top forty chart
Your new number one didn’t give our love a start
I belong at the bottom on a three chord song
I’m number ninety nine on the top forty chart

There’s no reward at the bottom of country lists
I went for the top but I guess this time I missed
It won’t be long before the big ‘ol teardrops start
I’m number ninety nine on the top forty chart

    (Instrumental)

I’m number ninety nine on the top forty chart
You’re number one in the song of a broken heart
And this time I’m way too far down the line to climb
I’m number ninety nine on the top forty chart

I could say congrats but I’m not at bat with you
You went and made me blue and my heart’s torn apart
I didn’t make the grade on the big hit parade
I’m number ninety nine on the top forty chart

I’m number ninety nine on the top forty chart
At least it’s not a hundred

The Old Aeromotor Windmill (Larry W Jones 11/10/2020) (song #7733)

I replaced the brake on the old Aeromotor windmill
And as I did I felt kinda proud
The same old mill grandpa set is pumping cool water still
To fill stock tanks when there are no clouds

While on the small windmill platform I looked over the acres
My grandpa and Ma’s home on the range
He lived to see change by big money policymakers
Not much to brag about from the change

    (Instrumental)

But my grandpa was a cowboy from his hat to his boots
And my own Dad was cut from the same
Now I’m the third generation who’s come out of that chute
Living the cowboy code is my aim

Sometimes I wonder if the old Aeromotor windmill
Will see my kids and theirs take their stand
To live by the same code and hold out their brand of goodwill
While they show they are proud of this land

    (Instrumental)

I replaced the brake on the old Aeromotor windmill
And as I did I felt kinda proud
For I have a feeling that my kids and theirs in turn will
Say the same kinda thing right out loud

The old Aeromotor windmill will be proud

My Sweet Boulder County Rose (Larry W Jones 11/10/2020) (song #7734)

Tonight I’m longing for Boulder County
    Where Rocky Mountain breezes blow
O’er the flowers with petals so downy
And my sweet Boulder County rose

I can still hear the mountain folks singing
    While guitars and mandolins play
And through Boulder Canyon banjos ringing
I hear their echoes as if to say

Tonight I’m longing for Boulder County
    Where Rocky Mountain breezes blow
O’er flowers with petals so downy
And my sweet Boulder County rose

    (Instrumental)

I recall when she walked close beside me
In night air that smelled like perfume
And she promised that she would my bride be
I’ll be in Boulder County soon

Tonight I’m longing for Boulder County
    Where Rocky Mountain breezes blow
O’er flowers with petals so downy
And my sweet Boulder County rose

Tonight I’m longing for Boulder County
And my sweet Boulder County rose

Write Me A Letter (Larry W Jones 11/11/2020) (song #7735)

Write me a letter by your own hand
Don’t come here with Covid-19 flu
Write me a letter from the heartland
Then dear I won’t get the virus too

Write me a letter cause you’re now banned
Your Covid-19 might make me blue
Wear a brand new glove on your right hand
Then dear I won’t get the virus too

    (Instrumental)

Write me a letter by your own hand
Don’t come here with Covid-19 flu
Write me a letter from the heartland
Then dear I won’t get the virus too

    Your Covid-19 I’m afraid of
It’s worse than any old winter flu
Write me a letter don’t come near love
Then dear I won’t get the virus too

Then dear I won’t get the virus too

A Painting From My Memory (Larry W Jones 11/11/2020) (song #7736)

Sometimes a famous painting can be deceiving
One can be reminded of love that’s true
Don’t let yourself be deceived into believing
For her sweet lips now smile for someone new

Look closely it’s a painting from my memory
And the colors I used are mostly blue
Her Mona Lisa face I painted cleverly
But her sweet lips now smile for someone new

    (Instrumental)

She’s gone but here in my memory I kept it
Yes, that old flame of love that once we knew
But now she’s just a canvas and I’ll accept it
For her sweet lips now smile for someone new

Look closely it’s a painting from my memory
And the colors I used are mostly blue
Her Mona Lisa face I painted cleverly
But her sweet lips now smile for someone new

Look closely it’s a painting from my memory
But her sweet lips now smile for someone new

Son Of Pancho Villa (Larry W Jones 11/12/2020) (song #7737)

In a border town just north of Manzanilla
He was slurpin’ on a cone of sweet vanilla
Cowboys were dancin’ to an old Crosley jukebox
And their boot scoots were a little unorthodox

As that old Crosley was spinnin’ there came a boom
The wood dance floor started thinnin’ and pretty soon
He saw at the swingin’ doors a man standin’ there
He was the son of Pancho Villa with a glare

It was a few years back they laid old Pancho down
His son was on attack from Manzanilla town
In the bar was a Ranger, a real tough wrangler
Here’s what the Texas Ranger said to the stranger

Son of Pancho Villa north of Manzanilla
Be careful ‘fore you make me drop my vanilla
Come on over here and belly up to the bar
Cause if you don’t I’ll think you’ve gone a-ways too far

Now, that son of Pancho Villa was not so smart
Paid no attention to the Ranger from the start
He grabbed the nearest cowboy and gave him a bonk
Tried to kiss Miss Lulu queen of the honky tonk

When the Ranger saw that things were gittin’ rowdy
He figured it was time for him to say Howdy
Son of Pancho Villa north of Manzanilla
Didn’t know how strong a man gets from vanilla

Son of Pancho Villa north of Manzanilla
You done made me drop my cone of sweet vanilla
Then the Ranger took Miss Lulu from Villa’s arms
And he commenced to tell her she was in no harm

That’s when son of Pancho Villa saw his big chance
He swung a cone of vanilla but it just glanced
The Texas Ranger said he felt a blast of wind
And that young son of Pancho thought he’d try again

Son of Pancho Villa, up here you’re a stranger
And I like vanilla, said the Texas Ranger
Son of Pancho carried his gun outside his pants
But against the Ranger he didn’t stand a chance

The son of Pancho Villa shot out all the lamps
But when they were lit again all knew who was champ
Son of Pancho Villa north of Manzanilla
Was dead as the Ranger licked his vanilla

Son of Pancho Villa north of Manzanilla
Be careful ‘fore some Ranger drops his vanilla
So, take note all you sons of Ponchos and strangers
You might take a lickin’ from a Texas Ranger

Things I’d Like To Tell You (Larry W Jones 11/12/2020) (song #7738)

It might be harmful if thoughts could be read
Some things are better never known than said
When it comes to love some will never know
How much a heart can love another so

There are things I’d like to tell you but it’s so hard to do
Such things as that I know your love for me will not come true
When I see you from a distance my poor heart breaks in two
Yes, there are things I’d like to tell you if you only knew

    (Instrumental)

When we were still in high school it began
You led the softball team, I was your fan
Then you went your way and I went on mine
But some things never disappear with time

There are things I’d like to tell you but it’s so hard to do
Such things as that I know your love for me will not come true
When I see you from a distance my poor heart breaks in two
Yes, there are things I’d like to tell you if you only knew

Yes, there are things I’d like to tell you if you only knew

Stream Of Brandy (Larry W Jones 11/13/2020) (song #7739)

Bout a mile west of El Paso on a dry Texas day
Next to his saddle and lasso a dying cowboy lay
His good friend sat beside him as his wound was flowing red
With ears trying to hear the last words that his old pal said

Pardner, old pardner, I think it’s high time I said goodbye
I know that stage is a-comin’ I hear it gettin’ nigh
Be sure to tell the stage coach driver where to make a stop
Where a stream of brandy flows down from the high mountain top

You and me rode trails together and rambled all around
In both fair and stormy weather we slept out on the ground
Old pal, don’t let me miss that Butterfield stage and that stop
Where a stream of brandy flows down from the high mountain top

Tell my sweet San Francisco girl not to worry at all
I’m through with ridin’ drag cause I’ve heard my last cattle call
I won’t have to wash my Levis or change my dirty socks
Where a stream of brandy flows down from the high mountain top

When I’m gone tell her that everything’s gonna be alright
That I’m somewhere out there just sleeping day and night
And I’m not ridin’ trails and I won’t need no barber shop
Where a stream of brandy flows down from the high mountain top

Pardner, old pardner, I think it’s high time I said goodbye
I know that stage is a-comin’ I hear it gettin’ nigh
His head went down and he closed his eyes when his breathing stopped
His pal tossed his saddle and lasso to the baggage top

Pardner, old pardner, I think it’s high time I said goodbye
I know that stage is a-comin’ I hear it gettin’ nigh
Be sure to tell the stage coach driver where to make a stop
Where a stream of brandy flows down from the high mountain top

Town Of My Childhood Days (Larry W Jones 11/16/2020) (song #7740)

Now, I’ve been around far outbound
And now I know why people say
I’ll return to where I still yearn
For the town of my childhood days

I can still see that big oak tree
That grows in Summer’s field of hay
Her name and mine I carved with glee
In the town of my childhood days

In school I sat way in the back
Most times I would avoid her gaze
Our house was just a little shack
In the town of my childhood days

Where is she now I wonder still
I know she has gone her own way
Her house was big upon a hill
In the town of my childhood days

    I recall that banana split
With ice cream and sweet cherry glaze
No banana was put in it
In the town of my childhood days

    And in my childhood memories
One scene in mind is still ablaze
The gym burned down in a strong breeze
In the town of my childhood days

Well, here I am now back in time
    Old memories still on display
Today I watched as the sun did shine
On the town of my childhood days

September Sunset (Larry W Jones 11/17/2020) (song #7741)

    Summer has departed, September sunset
    Orange glow through my window
    For some moments dwell

Again I dream of Spring, such a lovely thing
    A time for wedding rings
    All the world was well

    (Instrumental)

Two hearts then were happy, our skies were blue
    Dreams almost came true
    For me and for you

    Summer has departed, September sunset
    I wonder if yet
    You remember too

    (Instrumental)

    Summer has departed, September sunset
    I wonder if yet
    You remember too

Scraps And Shreds (Larry W Jones 11/17/2020) (song #7742)

    Scraps and shreds, broken pieces
    Of yesterday’s love affair
    Scraps and shreds, pain increases
Almost more than I can bear

Your portrait dear is signed with love
And I still have your left hand glove
You left scraps and shreds, little things
That play on hearts of broken strings

    Scraps and shreds, broken pieces
    Of yesterday’s love affair

    (Instrumental)

Our castle once was built with love
And in it we would dance and play
Now there are only pieces of
The remnants of that brighter day

    Scraps and shreds, broken pieces
    Of yesterday’s love affair
    Scraps and shreds, pain increases
Almost more than I can bear

    Scraps and shreds, broken pieces
    Of yesterday’s love affair

Searching The Seven Seas For You (Larry W Jones 11/18/2020) (song #7743)

You boarded that ship and then sailed away
You’re somewhere out of sight across the spray
It was anchors aweigh and through the foam
You left me here because you had to roam

My compass heading is spinning around
While I’m searching the seven seas for you
And I’m hoping that I don’t run aground
Dear I’m searching the seven seas for you

    (Instrumental)

Sweetheart I know you’re somewhere in a swell
But just where you’ll land only time will tell
Once you were mine but now you sail the brine
I’ve got to say I love you one more time

My compass heading is spinning around
While I’m searching the seven seas for you
And I’m hoping that I don’t run aground
Dear I’m searching the seven seas for you

Yes I’m hoping that I don’t run aground
Dear I’m searching the seven seas for you

Men Are Rugged And Rowdy In The West (Larry W Jones 11/18/2020) (song #7744)

Men are rugged and rowdy in the west
They get busted and bloodied in the west
    They’re some real tall crackers
    Cause they’re all bushwhackers
Men are rugged and rowdy in the west

Men are rugged and rowdy in the west
Old movies prove they’ve stood the time of test
    Their six guns are bigger
    They have a hair trigger
Men are rugged and rowdy in the west

Men are rugged and rowdy in the west
They don’t wash their dirty clothes like the rest
    Soap and water they shun
They smell rotter in the sun
Men are rugged and rowdy in the west

Men are rugged and rowdy in the west
Shootin’ and pluggin’ varmits at their best
    One was Johnny Moody
    Was no Howdy Doody
Men are rugged and rowdy in the west

Men are rugged and rowdy in the west
And they don’t win no medals for best dressed
    Blue skies all turn cloudy
    When they all say howdy
Men are rugged and rowdy in the west

Men are rugged and rowdy in the west
Pardner, by now I’m sure that you have guessed
    They never get all stressed
Hair grows tall on their chest
Men are rugged and rowdy in the west

Why Did I Say Farewell To Texas (Larry W Jones 11/19/2020) (song #7745)

Why, pardner, why did I say farewell to Texas
Why, tell me why, I’m now in Colorado snow
Why, pardner, why did I say farewell to Texas
Cause there’s a Texas posse after me I know
With lots of loaded ammo searching high and low

I was a wrangler on a ranch herding cattle in the sun
After counting, the foreman said he was missing ninety one
I had hid ‘em in a gulch and tried to keep ‘em all alive
But then I ran out of grass and mulch and lost the cattle drive

Why, pardner, why did I say farewell to Texas
Why, tell me why, I’m now in Colorado snow
Why, pardner, why did I say farewell to Texas
Cause there’s a Texas posse after me I know
With lots of loaded ammo searching high and low

    (Instrumental)

There was a banker in a bank counting dollars one by one
And I heard him holler when I told him that I wanted some
I was wearin’ my bandana across my face and my nose
Now, where that Texas posse came from nobody rightly knows

Why, pardner, why did I say farewell to Texas
Why, tell me why, I’m now in Colorado snow
Why, pardner, why did I say farewell to Texas
Cause there’s a Texas posse after me I know
With lots of loaded ammo searching high and low

Yeah, there’s a Texas posse after me I know
With lots of loaded ammo searching high and low

Love Came Upon A Blue Monday (Larry W Jones 12/01/2020) (song #7746)

True love came upon a blue Monday
Saturday and Sunday both were gone
Monday was the day I felt alone
But when you came it was not the same

You came on a blue Monday
That fine day in my courtyard
I now hold in high regard
And I know that you do too

    (Instrumental)

You made blue Monday my obsession
Now, days of the week equal seven
That I learned in early school lessons
But now I know one is from heaven

    Blue Mondays were solitaire
No true love was there to share
Til you came with loving care
On a blue, blue Monday, so rare

True love came upon a blue Monday
On a blue, blue Monday, so rare

I’ve Become Used To The Laughing (Larry W Jones 12/02/2020) (song #7747)

I’ve become used to the laughing
Life has now become a grand ball
There’s no more crying I’m having
It’s you I must thank most of all

I’ve become used to the smiling
You caught me when I had my fall
There’s no more lost love that’s dying
It’s you I must thank most of all

    (Instrumental)

I’ve become used to the loving
And I’m in it for the long haul
    No more taking without giving
It’s you I must thank most of all

I’ve become used to the laughing
Life has now become a grand ball
There’s no more crying I’m having
It’s you I must thank most of all

I’ve become used to the laughing
It’s you I must thank most of all

I’ve Got A Little Lonesome And A Lot Of Blue (Larry W Jones 12/19/2020) (song #7748)

I’ve got a little lonesome and a lot of blue
My mind has come to know that it’s because of you
And only time will tell if I’ll get over you
I’ve got a little lonesome and a lot of blue

My thoughts of you seem to never end
My heart needs a lot of time to mend
My dear, I’ve got a little lonesome
    And a lot of blue

    (Instrumental)

Sweet dreams still come my way when every twilight starts
Though you’re now far away I hold you in my heart
I’ve got a little lonesome and a lot of blue
I still love someone dear and you know that it’s you

My thoughts of you seem to never end
My heart needs a lot of time to mend
My dear, I’ve got a little lonesome
    And a lot of blue

Oh yes, I’ve got a little lonesome
    And a lot of blue

Along The Trail Before Me (Larry W Jones 02/10/2021) (song #7749)

Give to me the trail I love
And let the land go by me
Give to me the sky above
And streams that flow beside me

Let me bed with stars to see
    And water from the river
The cowboy life is for me
    Just let me ride forever

    (Instrumental)

Let the wind blow east or west
And let what ‘ere come ‘ore me
I will face it at my best
    Along the trail before me

Gold I don’t seek, fame nor love
Nor some old pal to know me
For all I seek and know of
Is the long trail before me

    (Instrumental)

Bring Fall or Winter on me
    Though cold become my fingers
Branches bare on all the trees
    A cowboy cannot linger

Let the wind blow east or west
And let what ‘ere come ‘ore me
I will face it at my best
    Along the trail before me

The Cowboy That Was Me (Larry W Jones 02/11/2021) (song #7750)

Oh, sing me a song of a cowboy gone
I ask pard, could that man be me
With joy in his soul he rode trails alone
From plains and mountains to the sea

Home was behind across the Great Divide
Ahead was all that dreams allowed
Youth was spent taking life and love in stride
But where is youthful vigor now

    (Instrumental)

Oh, sing me a song of a cowboy gone
I ask pard, could that man be me
With joy in his soul he rode trails alone
From plains and mountains to the sea

Oh, give me the cowboy that once was here
Give me the twinkle in his eye
And give me the song that he once held dear
One he sang under western skies

    (Instrumental)

Oh, sing me a song of a cowboy gone
I ask pard, could that man be me
With joy in his soul he rode trails alone
From plains and mountains to the sea

Saddle and reins over mountains and plains
Sleeping out til the morning dawn
Oh, sing me a song with a sad refrain
The cowboy that was me is gone

You Are The Chorus Of My Song (Larry W Jones 02/21/2021) (song #7751)

All love songs I wrote meant nothing
They were just words found in my mind
For I wrote them all while rushing
To fill a page with empty lines

    Oh, I received some accolades
For lines I wrote that led to fame
But for me it was just charades
Until that time in which you came

    (Instrumental)

I always knew you were special
Words can’t describe a love so strong
Each line I now write so careful
You are the chorus of my song

Oh, we were young and had to grow
I’m sorry that it took so long
This heart of mine wants you to know
You are the chorus of my song

    (Instrumental)

My early poems were soon noticed
But most were written while so blue
I never thought I’d be focused
    Only on words describing you

Oh, we were young and had to grow
I’m sorry that it took so long
This heart of mine wants you to know
You are the chorus of my song

This heart of mine wants you to know
You are the chorus of my song

Du Bist Der Refrain meines Liedes (Larry W Jones 02/21/2021) (song #7751)

(You Are The Chorus Of My Song)
translation from English to German by Julia Heyne

    Alle meine Lovesongs waren leer
    Mur Worte aus meinem Verstand
Eilig schrieb isch sie alle und mehr
Um Seiten zu fullen mit meiner Hand

Oh, ich bekam Preise dafur zur Ehre
    Fur Songs mit meinem Namen
Aber ich fuhlte nur eine Leere
Bus du und deine Liebe in mein Leben kamen

Du bist was ganz Besonderes fur mich

    Meine Gedanken suchen so weit
    Nach Worten, die Dich beschreiben

Wir waren jung und das heist
Ich brauchte Zeit und will jetzt wie nie
    Dass du ganz sicher weisst
In meinem Song bist du die Melodie

Full Moon Dreaming (Larry W Jones 03/20/2021) (song #7752)

When a full moon dreaming comes beam beam beaming on you
When a full moon dreaming comes beam beam beaming on you, on you
There’ll be no deceiving when you’re receiving a dream that will come true

Dream on, dream on you dreamer
Beam on, beam on moon schemer
    Tomorrow may come your redeemer
A true love dream may come to you

One time I felt so blue
    Didn’t know what to do
Then I wished upon a star
More than a dream is what you are

I’m in love again, your hand in glove I win, walking with you
When a full moon dreaming comes beam beam beaming on you
When a full moon dreaming comes beam beam beaming on you, on you
There’ll be no deceiving when you’re receiving a dream that will come true

When a full moon dreaming comes beam beam beaming on you, on you
There’ll be no deceiving when you’re receiving a dream that will come true

Dream on, dream on you dreamer
Beam on, beam on moon schemer
    Tomorrow may come your redeemer
A true love dream may come to you

I’m in love again, your hand in glove I win, walking with you
When a full moon dreaming comes beam beam beaming on you
When a full moon dreaming comes beam beam beaming on you, on you
There’ll be no deceiving when you’re receiving a dream that will come true

When a full moon dreaming comes beam beam beaming on you

On The Lost Side Of Town (Larry W Jones 9/11/2021) (song #7753)

Now, every big town has a side
Where people go and people hide
When their life of lost love has turned them upside down

Now, I know that I’m only one
Who knew just when the tide had turned
It was when her pride headed her for some new ground

    (Instrumental)

Oh, I felt lost and so confused
I felt my heart was being used
Until one day a broken heart like mine I found

When I found you it turned the tide
Now both our smiles we cannot hide
Ever since I found you on the lost side of town

    (Instrumental)

When I found you it turned the tide
Now both our smiles we cannot hide
Ever since I found you on the lost side of town

Now I’m no longer on the run
You and I are the same as one
I’m so glad I found you on the lost side of town

I’m so glad I found you on the lost side of town
